Use ANY PC to finish unlock?

Hi,
yesterday I initiated the unlock process for my AT&T iphone 4. That's when my contract expired. I'm leaving the country tomorrow and I'm afraid the process won't be completed by then. Can I use ANY PC to finish the unlock via itunes (my Dad's PC in Germany in this case) or does it have to be the one I've used with this phone all along? Can I do it via icloud?

It is Apple update the iPhone through iTunes

If you use a different PC it will probably screw up the rest of iPhne content
Use same one and you will get back to where you were apart from iPhone being unlocked

No. Apple can not. ONLY the carrier can authorize unlocking. Not all do. All iPhones sold in Japan are permanently locked to Softbank. You can not get it legitimately unlocked.
Sell it and purchase an unlocked phone from a country where they are legitimately sold.

If you bought an unlocked iPhone then it will work with any carrier but will work only under the restrictions or requirements the carrier sets for its customers. Apple has nothing to do with that. You are describing a problem of restricted access created by the carrer. If you cannot carry out the functions you want, talk to the carrier and see what limits they are placing on you. An unlocked iPhone is fully capable of all functions the carrer allows.

An unlocked phone is an unlocked phone. It's sold without a SIM card. You have to get a SIM card from the carrier you want to use, with an account set up, insert the SIM and activate the phone in iTunes.

The only difference between an officially unlocked iPhone sold in the US and Australia is the warranty. The warranty is valid only in the country of sale. If you buy the phone in the US and return to Australia, if it breaks you have to ship it to a US resident who will get it to Apple and return it to you. It can't be shipped direct in either direction.

Contact the carrier your phone is locked to to see if they offer official unlocking, & what the cost/procedure is. There is NO other way to get your phone officially unlocked, & Apple does not unlock iPhones.

Softbank does NOT offer unlocking. You cannot ever use that phone on another network. You will need to purchase a different phone if you wish to use another carrier.

If it is an unauthorised unlock (jailbreak) updating or restoring the software will lock it again and you will need to contact the carrier yourself to unlock it.
Be really careful when buying second-hand "unlocked" iPhones because most are done with a jailbreak.

There is no Unlock Code, only the approval of the original provider. Then just open iTunes on computer, connect iPhone to computer with USB cable, and then click Restore button of iTunes to Restore the iPhone. At the end of the Restore process, iTunes screen on computer will show large message, Congratulations the iPhone is Unlocked.

All you can do is sell your iPhone to someone in Japan and buy another iPhone. Only the carrier can authorize unlocking, and Softbank does not unlock iPhones.

If you are a gaijin (I'm a gaijin too) never take a iphone in Japan. Your phone will turn to be nothing more than a paper weight once you are out of Japan. I recently moved to UK and my iPhone 4s which bought from AU is now completely useless. AU does not unlock the phone, there is no option in the net to get the same unlocked too. So I decided to advise those gaijins in Japan to never waste your money spending on iPhones in Japan and if possible never get trapped into the services of AU.

It sounds like you have a hacked/unofficially unlocked iphone. When you update, it will indeed lock it back, as it should.
The ONLY place that can legitimately unlock an iphone is the carrier to which they are locked and no U.S. carrier does this.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
