Use ASIO4ALL for Skype playback.

Hello. Something that has been very frustrating for me lately is trying to play keyboard into my comptuer and be in a Skype call at the same time. What I do is I run my MIDI keyboard into FL Studio to play piano or something, but I have to use the ASIO driver to reduce delay. However when I use ASIO ALL other sound on my computer shuts off. I really would love to know if there is a way I could use the ASIO driver in Skype or even better know how to stop ALL sounds from shutting down. Thank you.

How to Disable "Use itunes for internet playback"?

I accidentally clicked the SET button in itunes which defaults itunes for internet playback.
I do not want this.
How do I revert back?

Here's one way around it. For example, open iTunes, open the radio playlist and drag any station to the desktop. Highlight the icon, and click Command i. In the Info window there is a command "Open with:" It probably has iTunes as the default. If so, hold down the arrow for a menu of applications to choose from. (Mine has RealPlayer and Quicktime available.) If those aren't listed, choose "Other.." A window will open with available applications. Choose one and close the Info window. Open the application you've chosen. The controls will appear. Click Command o (Open). In the desktop window choose your radio station and play. I hope this works for you. It should work for any streaming source. Now if some body could tell me how to stop those irritating "rebuffering" interruptions, that'd be great.

Email Address used only for Skype is now receiving...

My [email protected] email address which has only ever been used by me to register for Skype is now receiving a lot of junk mail. Has Skype been careless with my details or are they in the business of selling personal information or is there another reason?

Check the e-mail fraud examples to see if you have received a known phishing scam. If your e-mail looks like one of the examples, delete it. AT&T may be aware of the current fraudulent activities and working with the appropriate agencies to resolve this issue.

So looks like you want to check the examples to see if it's a known scam, if it is not then forward it to the [email protected] to report it.
Verizon also has a way for you to report a threat to them as well but looks like it may be more geared towards their own customers, like AT&T does for theirs.
If you receive a suspicious email, you should not reply to it, nor should you open any attachments, click on links contained in the email or provide any information in response to it. You can report suspected fraud involving Verizon or Verizon Wireless to [email protected] or [email protected], respectively. Please include the word "phishing" in the subject line of your email and provide as much information as possible about the fraudulent activity or message.

Want to use Quicktime for Internet Playback but i cant

I want to use Quicktime in Firefox or Camino for Internet Playback of MP3 files but i cant change it!
Dont know whats wrong here. Everytime i want to listen to an MP3 Track RealPlayer comes in and does the job...
All the searching through the net didnt help much. :'(
Maybe someone knows how i can fix this.

That Site has coded the html to call the Real Player plug-in. You could look at the source code, find the .mp3 file (and its complete URL) and open that URL in the QuickTime Player.
May not be worth the effort. I am able to view the entire .mp3 URL in Safari's Activity window and use copy/paste to the QT Player's "Open URL" dialog.

Try to use Headset for Skype on G5, but microphone does not work! Need help

I recently installed skype on my G5, bought a headset, can hear people talking to me, but nobody can hear me. It's not an USB or bluetooth headset, but with 2 plugins (sorry, i'm austrian...).
Does anybody know what setups to change that it works?
I try the system configuration and set up line in and line out...

I have used a headset with the 2 connections. In order to connect I use the Griffin iMic as my adapter. Every once in awhile I get the 2 plugs in backwards and have to switch them.

The other thing I have had happen is that my machine seems to auto mute when I switch things around. Sometimes I have had to go in to the System or program preferences to change the settings. For some reason the system has muted me or the program I am using did not keep the previous settings due to having the headset unplugged/replugged etc.

Not sure what you mean...I use Skype for Mac with no problem for voice calls computer to computer with Macs and PC's, and they've had no problems linking to me. The link to the latest version is:

Use FreeTalk for Skype for Business usage?

I do not know how to start a new chat so throwing this in here. I want to find ou about the free talk adapter for home phones. Can this be used for a business phone too? I have two business phones and do not really need another, but would like to do skype calling from my phones as I have complaints from people I call using the computer and hope useing a phone would correct some of the problems. Please someone reply. Thanks!

Using Links For Movie Playback

I have been trying to get a movie to play in a defined set of
coordinates when a link is clicked. (ex. Click a link and the movie
file plays in a predetermined "box-thats a bit irregular in shape")
What would be the best method for this? I have saved the movie as a
SWF file. I also have a copy of the movie that is a flv too. I
simply want my web pages to be videos instead of basic text pages.
Should I just move the project over to Dreamweaver, create a a new
layer "under" the main layer with the "box" cut out so you can see
the underlying layer and create frames on the underlying level? My
guess is that I could load the movie file into the frame on that
underlying layer. The main layer would then be a mask.
or
Should I try to load a Flv Player component and use my main
layer to mask it and just keep switching movies? What code would be
needed?

Should I just create all the movies onto different layers in
Flash 8 and show/hide the ones (layers) I need when the link is
clicked? Would that increase my file size by much? Any help would
be greatly appreciated! I am new to this, and I'm just getting
familiar with Actionscript but I do grasp the basic understanding

The trigger for the video is a button, not a frame in the
main timeline. Everything else is fine, I just cannot get my video
to play when clicking the link (button). I have 7 links
(navigational buttons ) in all. Clicking each one should take the
user to a different page (video) which displays in the main window
of my project. The main window is actually "cut out" so the flv
player can be seen behind it (or anything else can be seen behind
it). Like I said earlier, I have the video saved as an flv file and
also as a swf file so so I could either use the flv with the player
OR add the other swf file to the current project somehow if needed.
Once I get this right I can figure out how to make the scrollable
text appear at the embedded cuepoint on my own. Thanks!

Using ibook for Skype

Hi - I have a simple question about the microphone inside the latest ibook models. I bought my ibook in August and am enjoying it a lot - but as I am living in Paris, I use skype to stay in touch with friends around the world. Friends on the other line say they can't hear me that well when I use the internal microphone. I don't see, however, where I would connect an external mike. Is there a way to optimize the internal one, and if not, where do I plug in another mike? Thanks.

Before spending money with any other mic, I'd suggest you to check your internal one.
I know they are not the best mics out there but you shouldn't be having problems with such a simple task as talking using Skype.
I use Skype almost everyday with my internal Mic and I have no problems with it... my voice gets accross very well.
I think you should check your internet connection and see if it's ok, and then, take your Mac to Apple Store if the problem remains.

I want to Use iChat with Skype to Videoconference several people

I want to video conference in my niece in New Zealand (PC using Skype) with iChat and the rest of my Mac family stateside.
I have Skype for Mac running and I have the iChat AV running. Any chance to hook in the Skype User with the iChat multi-pane video conference?
It looks like iChat only accepts iChat and AIM but not Skype. My niece apparently cannot get AIM in New Zealand.
Any clever help would be appreciated.

I want to use iChat for Skype as well. I want one chat client for all my communications. That was the point of iChat in the beginning, wasn't it? Hopefully, Apple will jump on the ball and support the best way for us common folk to communicate internationally. The supported Aim when they were king, why not the new king?
I stinks that I can not use the great app, because one no Skype but two I don't know anyone else that uses .mac.

Using ASIO4ALL on laptop

I have a DV5Z-1000 laptop and I bought a Line 6 Toneport UX1 audio interface, which uses its own external sound card. I had popping and crackling issues with it from the beginning, and spent months googling troubleshooting myths and optimizations that supposedly would help. I have come to accept that there is just no getting rid of the annoyance. Therefore, I have just accepted it and wanted to try using ASIO4all for my interface and recording software because I heard the popping and crackling isn't AS bad. However, I could not get it to work on my system. No sound comes out when it is selected as the ASIO.

How do I create DRM Licenses that can be used for Offline Playback?

[ Background ]
Typically, a license is acquired from the DRM license server when the client video player encounters a video that is DRM-protected.   However, some use cases call for the ability for end-users to be able to play DRM content when a network connection is not available to the device.
For example - the user wants to download a video from their home, acquire a license to play the content, and then get onto a train/airplane where a network connection isn't available. On the train/airplane/etc..., the end user expects to be able to watch their video that they downloaded at home.
[ DRM Policy Requirements ]
For this use case to be possible, the DRM license must be acquired when the network connection is available. In addition, the DRM license must be allowed to persist on the device disk. For this to be possible, one value must be present in the DRM policy:
1. Offline License Caching must be set to 1 or higher. This policy parameter indicates how many minutes a license is allowed to be persisted to disk once it's been acquired by the license server.
[ Workflow ]
Now that the content has been packaged with a DRM policy that allows for offline caching (persistance) of a license, the video player simply has to acquire the license before the network connection is lost. This can be accomplished via the typical API calls that the Video Player Application Developer would use to do a normal DRM license acquisition (DRMManager.loadVoucher()).

For other platforms supported by Adobe Access DRM (iOS, Android, etc...), please refer to the appropriate documentation around playback of DRM content on how to pre-fetch the DRM license.
[ Workflow - iOS ]
Enabling offline playback using the Primetime Media Player SDK (PSDK) for iOS requires a bit of self-extraction & instantiation of the DRM Metadata from the m3u8. The reason for this is that as of PSDK v1.2, the PSDK APIs do not expose an mechanism for extracting the DRM metadata.
You must manually (outside of the PSDK) get access to the DRM Metadata, instantiate a DRMContentData, and then use the DRMManager class to obtain a license for your content. Afterwards, you may download your HLS content and stream it to your video player application locally. Since the DRM license was pre-acquired before playback of the downloaded HLS content, your video player application does not require a network connection to acquire a DRM license. Below is a code sample of obtaining the DRM Metadata from the m3u8 manifest and then using it with the DRMManager singleton.

However, please note that the above only describes the DRM license handling for offline playback. The actual playback of video using the Primetime client SDK is not officially supported. You will have to use your own mechanism of saving and playback back HLS content locally within the application.
Theoretically, it is possible to save the HLS stream to the app, and then embed an HTTP server to the app to stream the HLS content back into the application. However, the Primetime client SDK doesn't not expose a way to do this directly, since it's not yet supported.

It doesn't have to be that complicated, Verizon iPhones come unlocked, just tell VZ you're going on Holiday/Traveling and suspend the service, no need to pay for service if you're not going to be using it. Pick up local SIM cards in the countries of your choosing, pop them in, re-activate iMessage and you're set!
I recommend getting a SIM card from the Three network in England, they have great EU roaming rates and free like-home roaming in Italy.
Set your phone's region to match the country you're in, it'll save from some headaches when calling local/international numbers.
To answer your questions,
1. If you choose not to have a local SIM card, it is good to keep your phone in Airplane mode to save battery.
2. Make sure the two iPhones have different names to reduce sync/restore issues.
3. If husband has an iPhone also, you can chat with iMessage/Facetime, just give him heads up about the new number you'll have. Otherwise, use Whatsapp if he's got an Android. You can activate Whatsapp with your American number or the international number if you choose to get a SIM in Europe.
Also, Get the MagicJack app and/or Google Hangouts, both of those apps provide you with free calling to the USA and Canada using any internet connection. Google Voice is another good way to SMS across the seas.

Our University would like to pay for a Skype Premium account using a Purchase Order system - i.e. we send out a Purchase Order to Skype, Skype sends an invoice, and we then send payment to Skype.
Would this be possible, or is there an email address I can use to contact Skype directly about this?

I guess you are talking about due date for a billing document.
There's an FM Determine_Due_date for that. before that you'll have to use FM FI_DOCUMENT_READ with I_AWTYP as VBRK and I_AWREF as Billing Document Number. You will get T_BSEG entry.

Skype for Business not updating icons on start menu - Using OCT for Lync 2013 deployment

We're currently deploying Lync 2013 to out fleet using the OCT to customize where the shortcuts are created.
What we are finding is that the Skype for Business Patch does not update these icons. It only updates the icons if they are in the default location (no OCT).
Is there a standalone Installer for Skype for Business we could apply a TRANSFORM to? Or some other method of updating all icons startmenu, taskbar etc.
