Use BT devices on multiple Mac platforms?

I just bought an iMac. It has Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I also have a Macbook. I'd like to pair the BT mouse with the Mac as well as the iMac. Is that doable? My first attempt failed.

Pairing a keyboard with another Mac would be a real hassle. Buy yourself a new keyboard. I bought a "scratch-n-dent" special from OWC yesterday for $40. It works like a charm.

  • Using an iPod with multiple Macs

    Hi all!
I have a 30GB iPod with color display. I've been using it with my Power Mac G4. That's where I keep all of my music and photos.
However, I just got a Pismo PowerBook, and I would like to use my iPod to play music through it while I'm at school, rather than copy my gigs of music onto the PowerBook.
I used to have the iPod set to automatically update everything, but in order to listen to music on my PowerBook, I had to set it to manually manage.
Does this mean that I have to manually sync everything, or manually copy music to the playlists on the iPod?
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi Alexander,
Does this mean that I have to manually sync everything,...
If the songs/photo differ on the two computers, the primary computer, where you have your songs stored in this case your G4, you can keep automatic. However, on your PowerBook, just keep it manual.

  • Using the Airport with Multiple Macs

I have three Macs in my house. An eMac, an iMac and an iBook. All three are wireless, we have an Airport. However, we have to reset the DSL everytime we use a different computer. Is this a problem with the Airport or our DSL service? If it's the Airport, what can I change so that we can all use the DSL at the same time?

    Welcome to the discussions.
Your problem is how you are confiqured.
    1. Make sure that the drivers are set to infrastructure mode and obtain IP auto.
    2. Router's DHCP On. (Static IP will work too if set correctly.)
    3. Make sure that the Router does not have any MAC or IP filtering on.
    4. Disable WEP/WPA on both devices.
    5. Set the SSID and channel of the Router and the Client card to be is same.

  • A way to have two users using seperate devices but one mac computer

I have a 97 year old mother in law that tries to stay current with her children. She's been using an ipad for over a year. She has a older mac that no longer can be upgraded. She recently purchased an iphone 4s and would like to be able to sinc only her contacts, calendars and emails using the cloud but separately from mine. This way she can hopefully be able to keep only her stuff syncing together. Her contact list is relatively small compared with mine. She would like to be able to tell Siri  "Call Jim" and not have 10 Jims appear (because I may have a bunch of Jims) that she must select from.
I'm trying to keep things simple for her but am now challenged on how to do this. If I sync her ipad and iphone with my computer, I'll be able to manage some things for her, but I would rather not have her accidently delete contacts from my address book. She only uses the ipad and will now be using the iphone to view pictures, emails, messages, etc. It would be nice to have her devices syncing together, and to have a backup in itunes on a mac. Is this possible??
    Thanks

    You're welcome.
An iCloud account or email address does not have to be your Apple ID for iTunes purchases. Many have a different Apple ID from the iCloud account email address. They can be one and the same or you can have a separate Apple ID.
You can continue backing up her iPad on your computer or the best way IMO is to have her own iCloud account for backing up her iPad wirelessly and for keeping contacts and calendar events, etc. completely separate.

  • Can I use Creative Cloud on multiple Macs?

I am work in a company where we are using Creative Cloud for teams. Recently I've been doing some work from home, but on CS6. Is it possible to use CC on my Mac at home using the same Adobe Login details? Do I need to register with Adobe with different Login details in order to purchase CC from Adobe?

  • Using Apple remote in multiple macs environment

I'm sure this came up sometime I just didn't find it....
While using the apple remote for presenting in uni class full of students with macs.... well, strange thing happened.
Is there a way of making the remote working ONLY on my computer?
Pairing make my mac to work with specific remote. I need my remote to work only with my mac and not others.
    Thanks for any help!

If in Control Panels/Security you have paired your Remote with that specific Mac and checked don't allow "any available remote" then you might need to set this on other Mac's in range if they are allowing 'any' ... i.e. ask the students to turn off "any remote" in their settings. (Or just turn off Infrared while in class)

  • HT4007 using aperture 3 on multiple macs

Just bought an new iMac to go along w/ existing iMac and Laptop - MacBook Pro...
Can I use my Aperture 3 on all of these w/ my license? New iMac keeps asking me for license each time I open Aperture

Can I use my Aperture 3 on all of these w/ my license?
That depends on how you bought Aperture.
The retail version and the version bought from the Apple Store had a single user licence that entitled you to install it on one Desktop computer and one portable mac.
The licence you get from the AppStore is much more convenient: You can install the Aperture version from the AppStore on any Apple branded computer you control and you own.
Your new iMac may have a problem with an old ProAppSystemID file, if you used Migration Assistent to transfer your files to the new mac, or Aperture cannot write to the System Library.
To stop Aperture asking for the serial number, first check, if you still have an old file "ProAppSystemID" in your System Library.
    Quit Aperture.
Go to your MacintoshHD and open the folder "Library", then "Application Support", then "ProApps".
Remove the File "ProAppsSystemID" to the Desktop, if it exist and restart Aperture.
Reenter your serial number, hopefully for the last time.
Sometimes Aperture writes this file to a temporary directory, when it cannot write to the Library. If the above does not work, look at the temporary directory /tmp
    Use the Finder's "Go" menu
Go > Got to folder    and  enter /tmp into the textfield. If you see the file there, move it to its proper location.
In this case you may want to repair the permissions on your system drive; you can do this using the "First Aid" tools in "Disk Utility" (located in Applications > Utilities)

  • Using time capsule with multiple macs!

    hey guys!!
i know time capsule is not out yet as such, but does anyone know or has heard if you can say for e.g a macbook & an imac to back up on the same time capsule please?
i hope its not one for one plus i am also thinking of getting a macbook pro down the line as well
    thanks for any info

    thanks for the replies guys
yeah i was thinking i will just turn on TC once a week, if thats possible, to do a weekly backup as thats what i normally do now, or backup after something important like editing family videos etc or doing business work
i hope TC is user friendly though (as its coming from apple i guess it will be) and its easy to delete unwanted previous backups etc, do you think this will be the case please?
    thanks
Currently, to delete anything in Time Machine, you just open it, and navigate to whatever you want to delete, highlight it, then select whether you want to delete it ONLY from that backup, of from ALL backups. I see no reason to believe that Time Machine will behave any differently for the Time Capsule than it does now.
As for deleting a whole backup, one would suspect that you would go into your backup folder and delete it
As for turning it on and off, yes that is an easy option(made even easier by last update 10.5.2). Turn it on, then select backup now, let it finish, tun it off.
As mentioned there is an automation program out, but I have not seen/tried it. I just run Time Machine 24/7 personally.

  • Deploy Apps to the Device on multiple Macs

I'm currently enrolled in the iOS Developer Program and I'm able to run and test apps that I create directly in my iPhone. I recently bought a new MacBook and I wanted to know if I'm able to deploy my apps on both machines. I couldn't figure out a way to do it so far...

  • Accessing a single itunes library from multiple macs using a NAS???

hi, at the moment i have a imac g5 holding all my itunes library files on its hard drive. i'm about to buy another mac to locate downstairs, and also have itunes on my windows laptop.
i am thinking of moving the itunes library to a networked attached storage device, something like the buffalo terastation. does anyone have experience of this? does it work well over a wireless network? (802.11g)
how easy is this to set up, and make each mac point to the library on the NAS device? are there any problems with ripping cds to the NAS device, or multiple macs accessing different songs at the same time?
what would i need to do on each mac to make if see the library if i moved it to the NAS?
sorry for the questions, but i know what i want to do, just not quite sure how to do it!
    thanks, andy

    hi,
sorry i haven't tried this. i've now resorted to
buying a mac mini, attaching an external firewire
harddrive and using itunes sharing. still means i
have to have the mac mini on all the time, so not
ideal. i decided not to buy the nas for the time
being. i'm still interested in hearing if it works on
    other peoples systems tho!
There are others who have done something similar in that they created a shared folder on one computer and opened access to that shared folder to all other computers. The result was that only one computer could listen to the library at a time. I would assume the same thing would be true if using a NAS due to the file locking iTunes imposes. Anybody want to take a ride to the Apple Store and see if one of their reps have done it??

  • How do i sync iphone with multiple macs? and few questions

    Hi
I would appreciate if anyone would help me.
    1. I would like to know how to sync my iphone with different macs. I have a macbook 13 and a macbook 15 and would like to use BOTH to be able to transfer data without losing them. (address, apps, photos and music)
would like to use this feature if I were to be suddenly on a trip and a friend would like to share some of his files (audio, apps, photos..etc)
    2. is it possible to use internet tethering on multiple macs or example a "spontanious" mac? (ex. if I were suddenly to use internet through usb on a friends mac while we were on a trip but it were programmed on my mac at home)
    3. my internet tethering is only working on one mac which I usually use to sync everything... i tried just using tethering through usb on the other mac wihtout any sync but somehow it didnt work... usually i just plug and play and start using firefox... by automatic detection...
    4. is there also a way to copy files from iphone onto a mac which would not be one of my libraries?
    5. why cant i use iphone like the ipod as a disk use?
I am aware that these things are somewhat possible because i have read quiet a few artivles but they are sadly enough not so current... any help appreciated.

#1: As has been said, you can't get around it. An iPhone cannot be synched to more than one computer for any media content (it can be for contacts and calendar information, I believe).
#4: You can transfer items purchased from the iTunes Store to another computer but only if you disallow synchronization and authorize that computer to your iTunes Store account. There are third-party utilities that can transfer non-iTunes Store content.
#5: there is no disk mode in an iPhone and no way to enable one, at least not in the sense of disk mode in earlier iPods. There are third-party apps that allow some file transfer to and from an iPhone.
I can't help with tethering questions.

  • E4200 v2 - Uses multiple MAC addresses for the same device

This unit seems pretty good at first but on looking at the Web interface I noticed that it was using multiple mac addresses for the same device and showing devices on the lan on the Wireless side and other odd things.
After a week of running it the home server network started to get erratic, it would seem to all point to dns and dhcp issues in the router.
Seems the V1 had the same issues that they did not fix on this.
The Cisco connect software shows 5 devices the Web based utility shows 3??.
Its pretty bad that they charge nearly $200 and cannot be bothered to finish the unit or address the issues that were in V1.

I am afraid I didn't get the clear picture of the issue mentioned in the post. Could you please elaborate a little bit? If you connect a device/computer wired and then later you connect it wirelessly. It is obvious that you would get to see two different MAC addresses for the same device, one for the LAN adaptor and other one for WLAN adaptor. If that is what you are referring to?
Secondly, may I  know, what issues did you face with DNS and DHCP in the router? Is it not able to resolve the DNS or something else or DHCP is not sending IP address to the clients?

  • There are multiple MAC's in my house and I am considering buying Time Capsule to use as a file sharing device. Is anyone doing this? Pros/Cons?

I have multiple MAC's in my house. I would like to create a file server environmet. I am considering using Time Capsule. Is anyone doing this? Pros/Cons?

The Linksys should be about as fast as the Time Capsule. So you might as well connect the Time Capsule to the Linksys, disable sharing and wireless.
Solution two is to use the TC as the router, wireless and network drive. This would save the power the Linksys needs. What is the Linksys connected to? a separate modem?

  • Using a seagate external drive with multiple macs

i got a 1TB seagate external hard drive for backup and transfer purposes... it had a little program to help set it up and i set it up for use with mac and pc ( only onther option was stricty this computer.) it works on my computer and a pc but when i tried transfering files from another older mac i have it showed that i could only read on that computer...
how can i get it to work with multiple macs...?

I have the oldest macbook (1.83. 2 gigs ram, 60 gig internal hard drive)
I have all my logic content on my external maxtor firewire 400 drive (usb 2.0 is actually faster than firewire 400) and everything is fine. the good thing is if your external drive has 7200rpm, but the ones with 5600rpm should do as well.
Once you drag your apple loops to logic from your external drive, logic will remember for the next visit. And when you are opening a project which is on the external drive , just find it with logic finder and all should be fine.
