Use Call Manager to play media over a paging system.

We have a Bogen overhead paging system and would like to play some music from the Cisco system. It would be for playing Brahms Lullaby when a baby is born. We currently use the phone system to access the paging via a LS port on the back of our 2821 router. We use a PCM2000 w/zones for paging. Have you all ever had to setup anything like this?

One option would be to setup an on hold source with a .wav file of Brahm's Lullaby. You could then assign this MOH to a DN, call the paging system from the DN and press Hold. You could also set this up using an IPCC auto attendant script.
Hope this helps.

Much of Cisco's early SIP work involved proof of concept-proving that SIP worked in an IP telephony environment, with traditional features such as caller ID, call hold, call transfer, and three-way calling. Capabilities such as announcing a call transfer to the recipient before connecting the call (which involves setting up a media stream prior to connecting the call) had to be tested to make sure they would work through RTP streams and SIP-to-public switched telephone network (PSTN) gateways. Similarly, TDM out-of-band signaling (which passes information such as caller ID data) had to be passed via the SIP network.
Most of the early adopters of SIP technology were young service provider companies looking to differentiate themselves by providing IP-based services. They include Vonage, the IP-based telecommunications services provider that used Cisco SIP gateways and SIP analog telephone adapters (ATAs) to launch its service in 2001, and B2, a Swedish IP-based telephony service provider. But even companies such as Microsoft saw the promise of SIP as far back as 2001, when it launched the SIP-enabled Windows Messenger Update for its MSN .Net initiative. The Windows Messenger Update enabled MSN users to make SIP-enabled voice over IP (VoIP) calls from the MSN Messenger client, with Cisco providing the SIP infrastructure to Microsoft service provider partners.

  • Call Manager 9.1 Active Directory Question(s)

    Hello All!
Firstly let me establish that I am not an administrator of our VoIP system however I do manage the Server side of our network.  We are in the process of planning an Active Directory upgrade and I'm having some difficulty getting a question answered about the requirements for  Call Manager.  We are at version 9.1 of Call Manager currently with our Active Directory version at 2003 R2.  We are planning to upgrade to Active Directory version 2008 R2 (functional level) however we would like to use Server 2012 R2 as the OS for our AD servers.  From a Microsoft standpoint this is a valid solution, it's built into Active Directory that you can run at different "functional levels" of AD on higher server operating systems.  Any Call Manager applications that require a Windows operating system would run on whatever works for that (2003 or 2008 etc).  Can we use Server 2012 R2 as the Domain Controller operating system while running at 2008 R2 functional level for Active Directory and still retain our Cisco support?

    Hi Allen,
This is from Cisco site (you already may have seen this), though it talk about the directory services but it is specifically mentioned 2008. 2012 may work and specially as you are saying with functional level set to 2008 shouldn't have any issues. But Cisco have not tested that and you may get into support issues (if any).
Its completely tested and supported with CUCM 10.X

  • Call manager and Cisco IP phones

I would like to know if it's possible to use Cisco IP phones in small environments, without having Call manager, or it's mandatory to have always CallManager if one wants to use the IP phones.
    Thank you

You can use Call Manager Express, which runs on cisco 1751/60, 2600 and above routers. it can support up to 120 users. Cisco Unity Express will provide voice mail. this is a network module in 2600 and above routers. for more info, see www.cisco.com/go/ccme

  • Ringtones and background images not available after call manager upgrade

    Hi,
We have upgraded our call manager from version 8.5 to 10.5.  Once after the upgrade we lost all the Ringtones and background images except the two default ringtone and background images.  we got 8945 sccp phones(running 9-3-1 firmware) and 9951 sip phones(running 9-4-1 firmware).  Both these phones lost these list.  However the ringlist.xml is available in the tftp server with all the ringtones and the phones are pointed to the right tftp servers.  I tried to restart the tftp servers and tried again, however that didn't help.   we are using call manager 10.5 and h323 voice gateway.  Could anyone please help on this.
    Thanks
    Barry

    Hi Tony,
I can see the ringtone files in the call manager (osadmin>tftp file mgmt), i have also restarted the tftp services, but it didn't help.  I believe you advised to re-upload the ringlist file (Ringlist.xml) and try again. I will try this and update you.  Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.
    Thanks

  • CCMS is used for system monitoring , why should we use solution manage ?

CCMS is used for system monitoring , why should we use solution manage ?
Whats the relationship between CCMS system and SolMan?
    Thank you .

    hi,
I just want to ask a question. At our client we have solution manager and CCMS. There is data in CCMS I can extract, it is loading on BW side ok the same number of recs,  but the problem on CCMS cubes says there are the same number of record in the cube and also showing as the data is ready for the reporting. But when I run the report and view the data as listcube it is empty.
ANy of you have the situation like this cube say it has the data but when do th BEX or infocube contents the cube is empty nothing in there. The same thing is happening with hourly, 15 minute and daily cubes.
Anyhelp on this matter is appreciated

  • Re: play media without using the JMF?

    Possible? Yes!
    Logical? Probably Not!
The JMF implements a number features that video players need and thus reduces the amount of coding required to produce video products.
I have a altered an MPEG-4 codec written in C so that it can be called via JNI (The Java Native Interface) meaning I can decode MPEG-4 content while programming in Java.
If I were to avoid using JMF then I would have to deal with the conversion of the output from YCbCr (Commonly but mistakenly called YUV) to RGB and then put in an object that the Java awt system could present on the screen e.g. BufferedImage etc. Then I would have to deal with the timing etc for framerates and make sure that the data was processed quickly enough to be displayed as desired.
But by using the JMF I can just write a codec plugin and let the JMF handle the rest.
    Hope this helps,
    Stef

Hi, ii hope i explain this for ya
Jun4Java is an application written in java, it can handle 3d graphics and multimedia. The only way i found out that it was able to play the mpeg-4 movies, flash files, etc was buy actually running the application and trying to open and play the files with it - which it did.
As far as i can understand, jun4java uses the jni to enable it to play these media files, but to better explain it for you i think i'm gona post the readme file you get when you download the app, it explains jun4java, and it's capabilites better than i ever will...
Befoe you read it, the one thing i've noticed is that it seems to use the jni to play the multimedia through quicktime,
    Jun for Java
"Jun for Java" is a name of a Java class library which can be
used as a framework to handle 3D graphics and/or multimedia. It
is an open source software, designed and implemented with object
oriented technologies, and of course free of charge.
Jun provides an OpenGL interface as a primitive for 3D graphics
handling. Of course you can do OpenGL programming by using the
OpenGL interface directly, we also provide dozens of advanced
features, large and small, as reusable class libraries,
including "ViewFinder" which shows 3D objects and allows users
to manipulate them, "ViewPort" which visualizes an eye point, a
sight point, far/near clipping planes, etc. of a corresponding
ViewFinder, "Flux" which plays a simple animation, "Grapher"
which shows graph structures (nodes and links) in a 3D space,
    and so on.
"Jun for Java" also provides a QuickTime interface as a
primitive for multimedia handling. In addition to playing
movies/sounds or processing images by using the QuickTime
interface directly, there is a movie player, which is just like
a QuickTime Player, and you can extend it to create your own
movie player. You also can embed the movie player to your
application. Some advanced features like specifing a clip,
playing and repeating the clip, and creating a movie file of the
    clip are also available.
Since "Jun for Java" provides functions for handling both 3D
graphics and multimedia, it is easy to coordinate them. For
example, you can select a frame of a movie and use it as a
texture of a 3D object without any hard programming. This is
the one of the strongest points of "Jun for Java".
"Jun" was originally developed on VisualWorks (Smalltalk) and
ported to Java as a project for the Information-technology
Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA). "Jun for Java" currently runs
on Windows 98/Me/NT4.0/2000/XP, Linux, and Macintosh OS X.

  • Do I get full conference call management options on iPhone 6 model A1549 if using it with GSM carriers?

I have iPhone 6 model A1549, bought from and currently using with Verizon. You all must be aware that we can use the same phone for GSM carriers like at&t as well. Now we all know that some of the features related to conference calling are not available on CDMA carriers, like we cant have more than 2 callers, and we can't manage conference calls by making the conversation with one party private for some time and again switching back to conference mode, disconnecting a particular party instead of having to end the entire call etc. reference link- iPhone: Understanding phone features - Apple Support These features are available on GSM models and carriers, I just wanted to ask if I use a GSM SIM from a GSM carrier on this model, do I get these additional conference call management options or I am restricted to Verizon like experience while being on at&t (and while using the at&t SIM in this model)

Yes, I am dealing with this right now on at&t with a 6 plus. I've been down the same road as you. I got it to work with a windows phone yesterday but not my 6 plus when I switched back to the iPhone. My wifes 6 works fine. I believe it is an at&t issue and not an 8.3 issue. After dealing through several levels of support at at&t, they are telling me it has to do with their transition to hd voice. Some people are having this issue because they are updating their system and some peoples phone profile, on phones that have hd voice capabilities, are not getting added to their line and call forwarding will not work without it. I have a trouble ticket open to their engineering dept and they promise it will work for me on or before the 24th of april. Engineering has to build my phones profile so call forwarding will work with my iPhone.
This is frustrating because like you, I need to forward my calls because I have no signal in my office and need to forward to another phone so I can get my calls. If at&t would quit dragging their feet and enable wifi calling, this wouldn't be an issue for me. I would suggest you put more pressure on at&t and escalate this until it gets resolved. Or put your sim in a phone that does not have hd voice capability and see if it works then.
Good luck. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this will be fixed for me on or before the 24th. We'll see.
EDIT: I see you did put it in another phone and it worked. That backs up that the issue is at&t and their hd voice upgrades. They had no explanation as to why some work and some don't, but have them make sure a profile for your phone is on the line. If not, they'll need to build one for the phone so that it''l work. At least that's the story for now. Like I said, I'll know more in a day or two.

  • Using airport disc as a music server, and playing music over airtunes

I know that I can put my itunes library on an external hard drive, and that I could access this external hard drive wirelessly if I attached it to an airport extreme. However, if i did this would I still be able to play music over airtunes. It seems that the music would have to be sent wirelessly from the drive to my macbook via the airport extreme, and then from there to the airport express and on to my amplifier. This seems convoluted. Would it work?

I think you are missing the point.
    1) It is fast enough. I've never had a problem doing anything I needed to. Also, there is nothing preventing you from hooking directly to the external hard drive for extended data transfers. And unless there is a serious problem, the wireless connection is faster than any burning speed. And it isn't wireless internet. The internet has nothing to do with this. 802.11n has typical throughput speeds of 70-80Mbps. That is a song a second or better.
    2) Actually, what gets kept on the shared volume is only the music. The library file, the artwork for albums and everything directly related to how iTunes understands the library remains on the internal drive under the user directory.
    3) This is true, but as soon as it regains contact everything is corrected. What is really nice, almost as if Apple intended for it to be so, is that any new songs brought into the library while contact is lost to the Airdisk can be consolidated by simply using the menu item ...consolidate library.
    4) Not close. If I gave up the hard drive space it takes to hold my music/video library on my internal hard drive I wouldn't have any space left. I'm thinking you interpreted the situation as referring to someone with a desktop computer. I think in that case, that unique case of a single desktop Mac household, then yes, of course, plug the external drive into the computer. In the other cases, where there are laptops involved, and more than one user, this is part of the beauty of the design of the whole system.
I suggest to you that your response is a very closed view of the possibilities that are possible. You may not see the benefits, but it is by no means pointless.

  • Cisco Call Manager - No all phones uses License

    Hi Community.
I've upgraded from Call Manager 8.0 to 9.1. I did the License Count Utility Report and the License request from ELM.
Cisco sent me then afterwards the license, I've installed the license and all done.
But as you see on the print screen only few devices uses a license. Why?
    Best Regards Patrick

    Hi Patrick,
From the ELM snapshot, there is no Unused license. This means all licenses are  being consumed.
Can u please click on View Usage report on Unassigned devices in CUCM is first attachment shared by you and check how licenses are being used?

    Dominic,
If your MCU ports are Callmanger controlled, they will use Skinny (SCCP) to communicate on TCP port 2000. Please see the following link.
