Use commandLink of ADF Faces linking to a URL

Hi everyone!
I'm writing to yours because in my I'm doing a web application with ADF Faces technology.
I want to use a commandLink that open a URL, e.g. www.oracle.com. I put it on onclick properties of this component. When I pressed it, IE shows me jscript alert which saids me that jspx page has syntax errors.
Do I have to this component or another to use it..??..or another property..??..
I will be waiting your responses.
Regards, Luciano.

Hi,
To open URL you have to use GoLink or GoButton

  • Anyone using facelets with ADF Faces and myfaces implementation?

    There is a Howto document for using facelets with ADF Faces, but it assumes you're using Sun's RI. I'd like to use the Apache myfaces implementation of JSF with ADF and facelets, but I keep getting a NoSuchElementException thrown when the pages are accessed.

    It doesn't seem to matter whether I use <jsp:root xmlns..> tags or <html xmlns ..> tags or whether I use the facelet ui tags or not. I've tried it with several of the ADF components. I always get the pretty facelets exception at the bottom of the page after the ADF component displays.
    Am I missing something? Has anyone gotten these three (ADF w/ myfaces impl and facelets) to work together properly?

    Hi,
    It is supposed to work fine and is working okay, in general, for me. I was setting up a test app yesterday and logged the steps in my blog (http://www.jroller.com/page/mjdenham). I think I logged everything.

  • How to Redirect to another page Using JavaScript in ADF Faces?

    Hi Guys,
    I have a UI user case that has a af:menu which contains mutiple af:goMenuItem. When user click on the menu, the menu slides down and shows up the af:goMenuItem. As we know, you could define the page destinations in af:goMenuItem to go to another page when user clicked, but af:menu itself cannot be redirected to another page. Well, the user case wants the menu itself could be redirected if user click on it.
    So I am thinking using JavaScript to do this: when the af:menu gets clicked, redirect to another page. BUT, I looked over the ADF Faces Javascript API and was not able to find that piece of code to do this. Any help???
    Another work around for the user case scenario is to use HTML marks + CSS/JavaScript instead of af:menu and af:goMenuItem but this changes the scope of technology although it's not hard to do
    Any other idea to accomplish the user case other than what I could think of ?
    Thanks Guys!
    Jay

    Hi,
    1 - you can have a hidden command item to do the navigation based on a control flow case. In this case, you access the command component from JavaScript create a new ActionEvent and queue it
    2 - JavaScript can use an af:serverListener to call into a server side managed bean method to perform the navigation
    there is no JavaScript API for navigation in ADF Faces because navigation in JavaServer Faces is an event driven framework and we don't support developers fighting the framework.

  • TableForm using CommandLink as table - Form link

    Hi all,
    I have a page I've generated in JHS that uses a column of CommandLinks to get from the table to the form. I've done this before and never had any particular problem, but this time I'm seeing some very bizzarre behavior.
    Here's what it is: If I do a query (using the page's advanced search region--same page) that returns multiple pages of rows, the links work fine. But if my query returns less than one page (anywhere from 1 up to the range size), clicking a details link causes the error message (or rather, an error message very much like--don't have the actual app in front of me right now):
    Could not find row with key oracle.jbo.Key[ 23456]
    Where 23456 is the key value of the row whose link I tried to follow. 4 instances of this error appear.
    I've done a fair bit of experimenting, and it's definitely a matter of whether or not the query returns more rows than the range size. I'm not sure if this is a JHS problem or an ADF problem, but I've never seen anything like it before.
    I have made some minor post-generation pages: in particular, I changed the "action" property of the links to call a method that will reroute the user under particular circumstances (having nothing whatever to do with the range size or the selected row). I did not make any changes to the "actionListener" property or the binding.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks much,
    Avrom

    SO the problem had nothing to do with JHS at all--I'd forgot to setManageRowsByKey(true) in the SQL-only VO. Still not sure why this worked when more than one row was retrieved.

    Hi Muralli,
    First u can display the command button near to the table by surrounding the af:table by panelCollection and panelCollection has some facets... even af:table too have some facets
    In panelcollection facets make use of toolbar facet
    <af:panelCollection ....
    <f:facet name="toolbar">
    <af:toolbar id="t2">
    <af:commandButton text="commandButton 1" id="cb1"/>
    </af:toolbar>
    </f:facet>
    <af:table ....
    </af:table>
    </af:panelCollection>
    Have look on this documents for Table and Collection

  • Did anybody used ADF Faces with Apache Struts?

    Hi
    Can anybody give some guidelines of how to use ADF Faces with Struts?

    I think you'll get a better answer for this on an iBatis forum.
    I think I knew one customer who used this combination.
    We don't have a specific tutorial that shows you how to use iBatis with ADF Faces, but at the end of the day any of the tutorials we have that shows you how to use POJO or a session facade to front POJO will be applicable to iBatis.

  • I don't see the components ADF faces in my JSPX page...

    Hi,
    I don't see my components ADF in my JSPX page when I drag and drop them. I have to run my page to see its contents...
    Can somebody help me please. Is it exists an option in Jdeveloper to mask jspx pages contents?
    I use Jdeveloper 10.1.3.4
    Thks,
    M.

    Hi Shay,
    Thank you very much for the blog's link, I found the solution in metalink, Doc ID: 382812.1 .
    There are many causes that make JSF tags not being displayed properly.
    For me, it was du to the web.xml file :
    ADF Faces pages do not display correctly when using the FacesPageCachingFilter (ADF Faces Cache).
    You can put the following lines in your web.xml file in comment during Design Time:
    +<!--filter>+
    +<filter-name>PCF</filter-name>+
    +<filter-class>oracle.webcache.adf.filter.FacesPageCachingFilter</filter-class>+
    +</filter-->+
    I comment the filter-mapping too :
    +<!--filter-mapping>+
    +<filter-name>PCF</filter-name>+
    +<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>+
    +<dispatcher>REQUEST</dispatcher>+
    +<dispatcher>FORWARD</dispatcher>+
    +</filter-mapping-->+
    Now, all works fine.
    Thks again.

  • Problems with combination of ADF Faces, Tomahawk, Facelets and MyFaces

    Hello,
    I am trying to combine all things named in the Subject and run into several problems:
    1. ADF Render Kit forces the Tomahawk Components to be rendered in a wrong way or stop there functionality.
    Example 1: The clickable parts of the t:dataScroller Tag can not be accessed because an empty a Tag will be rendered after the outputText.
    Example 2: The t:commandSortHeader Tag can be clicked but the table content will not be sorted anymore.
    The given examples works if i remove the default-render-kit-id element from the faces-config.xml
    2. The ad:table Tag runs into an ClassCastException, only when I put a simple example code snipped into my xhtml file.
    Code snipped:
    <af:table>
    <af:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <af:outputText value="Firstname"/>
    </f:facet>
    </af:column>
    <af:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="Lastname"/>
    </f:facet>
    </af:column>
    </af:table>

    I followed all steps for the ADF installation and the suggested steps for using ADF with Facelets.
    Used versions:
    - Oracle ADF Faces 10.1.3 Early Access
    - myFaces 1.1.1
    - Facelets 1.1.1
    - oc4j 10.1.2.0.2
    Has somebody try to use these things together, too?
    Thanks,
    Carsten

    Hi,
    Inside our fusion applications(ADF/Webcenter) using combination of JSTL and ADF Faces is good practice or pitfal?
    To suggest a a rule of thumb: Try ADF Faces on-board functionality first before reaching out to JSTL. The difference between JSF in general and JSTL is that the JSTL expressions are evaluated at page compile time wheras JSF expressions are evaluated deferred. This difference may have an impact to PPR refreshes and the data rendering (which in many cases I assume you can fix by setting the ADF Faces component content delivery to immediate instead of deferred). On a training slight I flagged JSTL with a "heads up" alert because of this

  • ER - Problem with ADF Faces filter when running ADF Faces within a portlet

    I am attempting to get ADF Faces to run within Oracle Portal, i.e. within a portlet using the JPDK.
    This, I am sure you are about to tell me, is not something that is fully supported, as yet.
    However, I have been successful in getting MyFaces to run within a portlet, by customizing the form tag.
    MyFaces, it seems, keeps track of the current viewid by storing it in the session, then uses this within the viewhandler and navigationhandler to determine the next view to load, based on the faces-config.xml navigation entries.
    By customizing the form tag it is then possible to retrieve this viewid from the faces context and outputting it in the form's action parameter.
    It is also possible, with a few more customizations, to run JSF RI within a portlet, i.e. by adding a custom viewhandler and loading a session variable with the current viewid from the faces context, then retrieving the viewid and outputting it as the action string in the customized form tag .
    Unfortunately there does not appear to be any way of getting ADF Faces (EA19 version) to run as a portlet, with either the RI or with MyFaces.
    I have configured a basic .jspx document in the <showPage> tags of the provider.xml file.
    This uses only the form tag and a few input tags and works when executed directly within my portlet project in JDeveloper (http://localhost:8988/TestJSFAppContext/faces/htdocs/facesportlet/index.jspx) using a redirectfilter (*.jspx htdocs -> /faces/htdocs).
    It is not possible to run ADF Faces with RI as a portlet since customization of the ADF Faces ViewHandler appears not to be supported.
    When attempting to run this with MyFaces as a portlet, however, I get the following message:
    oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilterImpl verifyFilterIsInstalled
    WARNING: The AdfFacesFilter has not been installed. ADF Faces requires this filter for proper execution.
    I am having difficulty in understanding as to why this is happening but am guessing it must be something to do with either redirect URLs or due to the .jspx files being under /htdocs, i.e. the ADF Faces renderkit is checking that the ADF Faces filter is configured but the check fails since the filter does not execute.
    I have configured the filter in web.xml, as detailed in the documentation:
      <filter>
        <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
        <filter-class>oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter</filter-class>
      </filter>
      <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
      </filter-mapping>
    <servlet>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class>
      </servlet>
      <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/faces/*</url-pattern>
      </servlet-mapping>and have modified the provider.xml file as follows:-
          <renderer class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.RenderManager">
             <renderContainer>true</renderContainer>
             <renderCustomize>true</renderCustomize>
             <autoRedirect>true</autoRedirect>
             <contentType>text/html</contentType>
      <showPage>/faces/htdocs/facesportlet/index.jspx</showPage>
             <editPage>/htdocs/facesportlet/FacesportletEditPage.jsp</editPage>
             <editDefaultsPage>/htdocs/facesportlet/FacesportletEditDefaultsPage.jsp</editDefaultsPage>
          </renderer>with the following tags also set:
       <session>true</session>
       <passAllUrlParams>true</passAllUrlParams>In order to ensure that the session stays alive so that the views are retrieved.
    As I say, the page loads OK when run directly within the JPDK project within JDeveloper, with a redirect filter (*.jspx -> /faces/*.jspx) but not when run from within Oracle Portal.
    In fact I have found that this filter is very sensitive, i.e. ADF Faces will not run in any project unless the configuration is exactly as above.
    It seems that the MyFaces team have got around the problem of maintaining session state with redirections but that ADF Faces needs the page URL that is passed in to the filter to be consistent.
    Is there some way around this, i.e. some kind of customization that I can implement to get the filter working?
    Thnks

    I have found a way to go round the problem.
    I use the servlet 2.4/jsp 2.0 route and then
    change the web.xml header to the servlet 2.3/jsp 1.2
    format. Everything then works fine after this!
    Please fix this for production.

  • JDeveloper 11g/ADF Faces Rich Client

    Hello,
    We are trying to decide between using JDeveloper 10.1.4 and JDeveloper 11g for developing a new application - we plan to use just the ADF Faces layer of the ADF Framework along with Spring and TopLink for other layers.
    On one hand we think that is is safer to use 10.x version of ADF Faces as it may be more stable and on the other hand we are tempted to use 11g as it provides Ajax-enabled JSF Components.
    Has anyone used ADF Faces Rich Client Framework for developing applications? Is it stable enought to be used for production-level applications?
    I would love to hear your thoughts!

    Hi,
    don't use 10.1.3.4 to develop a new application now unless you have browser constraints with your user-base.
    ADF Faces RC / 11g requires:
    FireFox 2, 3
    Internet Explorer 7.0
    Safari 3.0
    11g is a significant update and they have vastly improved/redesigned a lot of things that were difficult/complex to do in earlier versions.
    Plus the 11g user interface is way better from a users perspective.

  • ADF Faces and Facelets.

    How to use Facelets with ADF Faces I'm getting the ADF Components displayed, but the alignments are not working.And also , the JDeveloper is not recognising the <ui:insert> and <ui;composition> saying, No grammer available.
    Further , In the source for the HTML page rendered we could see the Facelets tags. these are not being converted to HTML.
    So where lies the problem?
    I added all the jar files neeed, added all web.xml entries; but could not get the correct out put.
    Can any one help me?
    Thanking you,
    Samba.

    Hi Samba,
    If you get any headway, please post it here. I am in the same boat!
    Are there other people out there using facelets with ADF? I would really appreciate any insight. Thanks!

  • Deserialization in Oracle ADF Faces

    Hi, All,
    is there any algorithm for deserialization (creating components from markup in string) in Oracle ADF Faces? Most part of UI is created dynamically in PL/SQL functions, so I'm not enthusiastic to develop a parser.
    AFAIK in Bindows framework they use such code pattern (javascript):
    try {
    var d = new BiXmlDocument;
    d.loadXML( "<root>" + server_create_markup() + "</root>" );
    } catch( ex1 ) {
    alert(ex1.toiString());
    if( d.parseError.errorCode != 0 ) {
    alert( "parse error" );
    return;
    try {
    Bindows_component.removeAll();
    var de = d.documentElement;
    var cs = de.childNodes;
    var rp = application.getAdf().getXmlResourceParser();
    for( var i = 0; i < cs.length; i++ )
    Bindows_component.addXmlNode( cs, rp );
    } catch( ex2 ) {
    alert( "Error loading markup from DB-server function" );
    return;

    Hi,
    not that I am aware of. However, since ADF Faces is nothing else than JavaServer Facse UI components you can Google for such a parser. If you find one you will be able to use it with ADF Faces too.

    Ps.: Maybe APEX (Application Express) is the better technology for you to use. Its PLSQL based and knows how to create Ajax style applications out of the database.
