Best way to use current Nokia Software Updater in Vista:
1- Install Nokia Software Updater V1.4.39
2- Right click mouse in Software Updater Icon
3- Open compatibility Tab
4- Enable "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
5- Select Windows Xp (service Pack 2)
6- Then Apply, Ok and exit
7- Use this program to update your Nokia phone

What sort of problem are you encountering when you run the Nokia software updater? Have you attempted to run the application through compatibilty mode? To do so, right click on the application and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility," from there you will need to follow the on screen prompts to put the program into compatibility mode.
Also for additional assistance and feedback, Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams.

Nokia Software Update and Windows 7 Home Premium 6...

I cannot get this application to run - it goes nowhere on start-up. I have disabled both router firewall and Windows 7 firewall and still no luck. I have also tried instructions for task manager on the FAQS section of the website, and stopped background running.
I have a Nokia 6303i Classic, connected via USB and the latest driver.
I have installed latest version of Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 and tried updating from there, and this does not work. It does sometimes get to the point of saying that I have Frimware 6.40 on the phone and need to update to firmware 7.10.
I have also tried latest version of PC Suite 7 and this starts Software Updater, which does not work anyway.
I have turned Game Mode on for BitDefender Antivirus 2010, and still no joy!
What is going on??

Go to manage games on BitDefender and add Nokia Ovi Suite. That worked for me. Also, are you in direct connection to the internet or are you accessing it via a server in a LAN network? Ovi Suite does not currently support those kinds of connections and you need to be in direct connection to the internet.

I have Vista, the software updater is not compatible with Vista. What can I do?

Vista support was withdrawn due to compatibility problems. Lucky for you a version for vista users was released yesterday.

Software Updater on windows 7

I own an N97 and did the ovi suite installation on my toshiba Q0smo X505-Q850 64 bit system. but when I try to update the software on my phone or even just the software, I get a message that says that my operating system is not supported. Please what should I do. SUNNY.

confirmed it´s also not working on my P-B 32bit ultimate win7 es ver. the NSU is not support this machine only u have left one option just go to ur mobile menu->control panle->telephone->and use built-in software updater. or try it on xp,vista machine.

has anybody successfully installed nokia software updater on windows 7..
i cant install it.

Hi.. there is not a beta version of PCS for windows 7 at the moment however..
I have managed to install the PCS & NSU by running them in windows vista compatibility mode.. this is acheived by right clicking the install exe and clicking the compatibility tab and then checking the run in compat mode and select windows vista from drop down meu
I have managed to even update my E71s firmware via windows 7.. but do remember it is a BETA OS so it is at your own risk you use PCS & NSU with it, I have kept a small vista partition on my PC just incase

Nokia Software Updater not working on Nokia 6120 c...

My phone is the:
Nokia 6120 classic (RM-243) on the 3 network
Software Version 3.70.
I was using the Nokia software updater to update my Nokia 6120c.
It found my phone and a new software version 3.83 was available.
I then proceeded to follow the instructions on screen which led to the latest software download to the PC.
Once the download to the PC was complete another screen showed the download to the phone.
The progress bar was stuck on the same 15 seconds and no progress was made.
Another screen was then displayed showing 'phone recovery', with 4 steps available:
1.remove battery and charger from phone
2.insert the battery and insert the charger
3.click 'retry' to continue
4.press the phone's power button
After following the steps the same software update screen is displayed showing the progress stuck on 15 seconds. Once that fails the same 'phone recover' screen appears.
I closed the updater application and checked the software version using *#0000# and it still shows the same software version 3.70. No software update occured.

its is not possible to roll back the firmware. the only way you can update your frimware is to use NSU, for some newer phones FOTA and nokia care points. in very rare instances nokia care points will roll back the firmware but it is at thier discretion and you have to have a really good reason for asking them to do so.
usually alwyas check for the latest nsu, all the drivers and latest version of the pc suite prior to any firmware updates. if your phones are branded to a network, it is up to the network to approve firmware updates prior to release. this might be a reason why some of you are unable to download the latest firmawre for your phones. you can contact your provider and ask them if the latest firmware had been approved by them for release.

Nokia software updater won't upgrade firmware for ...

Hi,
I've seen that there's an updated firmware version for N95 8GB from v11.
I just bought the phone from Three in the UK. My phone has firmware version 11.0.026. When I use the Nokia Software Updater it says that this firmware version is the latest. I've also used this website to check for an update but when I put the code it says that I have the most recent version.
Does anyone know how can I update to the latest version?

The nokia software updater doesn't allow you to update because it's network branded. Most networks don't bother approving new updates leaving their customers stuck with old firmware.
Until three UK decide to update (which could be never) then you are stuck with what you have got. They still haven't allowed owners of the old N95 to update to v20 which was released 4 months ago.

I can't update my software.

Install the updater in vista compatibility mode and it will work ok.
Only nokia can answer the question as to why it isn't officially supported yet. To get an answer from them use the "contact us" link near the top of the page.

Although I've re-installed the NSU, now version is 1.7.3en, getting the message "Nokia Software Updater service is currently unavailable"
What could be the problem?

For those having problems are they running Vista ?
I think the microsoft firewall has blocked the updater software.
I got round it by installing the old version from the CD (told it not to look for an update).
I they ran the updater program, which wouldn't run because there is a newer version
It then gave me the option to download the new version and then I got the microsoft firewall warning.
I selected the allow option and the new version installed fine.
I was then able to update my N97 to V11
N97 Firmware Version 20
