Use DB Connectivity tool, can I know the database is open by another user without opening it?

hi all,
A urgent issue here, is it possible for me to know whether the database is being used by the other user without opening a databse using Databae Connectivity Tool?
Can anyone know the solution?

choose means if table statistics is available then it will use cost
else
use rule based optimizer
for seeing performnace of table use
set autotrace on
and run your query
if it doen't show cost.it means it use rule based
for using cost based
u will calculate table statistics

Can I restore the database (clone) to different Host/User account?

Hi,
We use RMAN catalog that backup our production database using "oracle" user (OS user is "oracle") account. We wanted to clone this database to different host and to different OS user (for example is "oradev") account. Both user has same group (oradba). Can I able to restore the control fies/data files to different user account (the account that wasn't backed up).
Please update if you know of any documents/pdfs/links that explains this detail.

Yes, the user account should be transparent assuming the backuppieces have the appropriate user/group permissions.

sometimes we create a new order with reference to the order which was created by using IDOC.
How can I know the difference between ..
1) Order created with VA01. (Some of the fields may copied from order created by IDoc.)
2) orders created with IDOC.
Please let me know.

Thank you for your reply, but the suggestion you have given may work for us. as when we create a order with reference to other order or when we create a order using we19. the newly created order will have all the details of older order and that information will be in EDIDC, which will not be correct.

I have installed oracle 10g and developer suite.. I am trying to create forms now.
But its error out: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified!!!
I forgot the Data base name.. How can I know the database name??

I have installed oracle 10g and developer suite.. I'm sorry, but you are going to have be more specific as what you installed!
If you installed Oracle Database 10g Express Edition then it is not (by default) configured to allow a connection through SQL*Plus. It is primarily configured to open a connection through the "Go To Database Homepage" url/link in the Start Menu => Oracle Database 10g Express Edition => Go To Database Homepage. In order to connect to the database from SQL*Plus (which is included with Oracle Developer Suite 10g) you will need to run the Net Configuration Assistant to configure your TNSNAMES.ora and SQLNET.ora files. Go to Start Menu => Oracle - DevSuiteHome1 => Configuration and Migration Tools => Net Configuration Assistant to run the assistant. After you run the assistant, test to make sure can connect through SQL*Plus before you attempt to connect through Forms.

Place the iPod in Recovery mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes.

Could be an early retirement problem. There is no fixed lifespan for anything, as you know. Find a friend with a keyboard and test that in your machine. That will show if it is your keyboard or your computer. We can progress from there.

Well, it is part of the Mac. So you were shortchanged.
Call AppleCare and ask them to send you a replacement set. They will ask for the serial number and model number to sure they are give you the correct set. They will charge you a nomibnal fee for shipping and handling.

Odbc connection test success but can't link the database to oracle with 1013 call failed error.

i am using my MS Access 2013 to connect with my oracle database. I created the odbc link and successfully have connection test pass. However i can;t link the database with my MS access. When i am using different software (mapinfo), i am able to connect to oracle database. The error is"1013: user requested cancel of current operation"

In MS access, i open the external data and select odbc. Select my odbc link created previously, enter the password and after a while the error message pop up.
But if i am using another tools, such as SQL Developer or Mapinfo, i will able to connect to oracle database using the same odbc link.
