Use dot matrix printers for printing text reports in Reports 10g

In Forms 6i, customers had the option to use dot matrix printers for printing text reports.
I believe, from 9i onwards, text based reports aren’t supported and instead HTML/PDF,DOC,RTF reports are supported which are not text based and use modern day printers.
Is it still possible to use text printers ??

  • Printing using dot matrix printer, problem with landscape printing

    Hi all,
We are planning to use Dot matrix printers for printing through SAP.We do front end printing using Windows OS. I am able to get prints properly if it is a script form. In case of list outputs, printer is printing the text outside the paper.Only half of the text is printing on the continuous stationary. Actually document is to be printed in Landscape format. So printer should print data vertically on the paper, but it's printing horizontally. I have created sparate output device for this printer. My printer is TVS Electronics HD745 24 Pin heavy duty printer. I have assigned OKI341 as device type for this device.Any more settings I need to do to get printing in landscape mode?

  • Reports for dot matrix printers in character mode 17 cpi

    Hi,
I want to know how to develop reports to be printed in dot matrix printers
in character mode 17 cpi using BI Publisher 11g.
There is a guide available that can guide me?
How to print to a printer connected to a client machine?
How to print to a printer connected to a server machine?
    Can someone help me?
    Thank you,
    Ricardo Cesar

    Hi all,
This is to inform that I have myself found the solution. It is possible to print matrix report in condensed mode. The method for printing is same as for any other report. The mistake I made was not checking whether the .prt file is getting referred correctly. The DESFORMAT system parameter was getting populated through the calling form. By referring to the correct .prt file the problem got fixed.

  • Line Matrix / Dot Matrix Printers and Reporting Tools

    Hi,
Recently i came across with a P7000 Line Matrix Printer. I need to take out more then 2000 pages at the end on each month.
Previously here people were used to to send printout directly from FoxPro (yes that right!). That time all the reports come out from Line Matrix printer very fast and text are not distorted. And header was still in 'Bold' that remind me old DOS days.
In most of the reporting tools that I used, all the text characters are distorted and the printouts take longer time 'n toner to came out, because they prints in grafix mode.
Please let me know the Reporting tools that could handle/use the the dot matrix printers fonts and styles.

I have worked with Reports 3.0 earlier and that was pretty fast with our dot matrix printer.
AFAIR, you need to use Dot-matrix-happy fonts for the speed to be acceptable.

  • Dot matrix printers Capable of printing TABLE lines In Smartforms

    Hey guys,
we are using EPSON LX-300+ (dot matrix pritner)
    but the problem is,
it is not able to print table lines present in a SMARTFORM..
it can print the same table lines presnet in SCRIPT ...
    so i want to know,
all the dot matrix printers in the market...
that can print table lines in SMARTFORMS...
(pls suggest the DM printers u are using and dont have this problem..i.e unable to print table lines in SMARTFORMS)
    thank you...

    Hi Sreesudha,
I have used three different line types for the main window.
LTYPE1(Header) : For printing the column heading along with the title for consignor address.
LTYPE2(Main Area) : For printing the line items detail. For the first line, I have to print Material Description and chapter Id and if the same    material exists for the second line item, then it should not be printed, so I have written condition for not printing it.
LTYPE3(Footer) : For printing the footer with the net and gross weight details.
And for paragraph format, I have used the custom Para. Format only.
    Suggest me ASAP.

  • Stop it from using photo black ink for black text printing and where has the color ink gone?

My HP Photosmart Prem C310 series all in one is using the Black Photo ink cartridge for text printing instead of the XL Black that I put in it for text printing. How can I get it to use the right cartridge for printing? Also, even though I have NOT printed ANY photo's and very few pages of text the new set of color cartridges I put in it a few months ago are almost empty. Why? How could they be almost empty when I have NOT printed anything in color? This is getting ridiculous replacing ink cartridges every few months WHEN I HAVE NOT BEEN PRINTING ANYTHING!!!
The set of ink cartridges that came with it lasted for several months. Since then I've gone through two sets in less than a year. That's 3 sets of ink cartridges when I have only printed 3 photo's when I first set it up. And have only used les than a 1/4 of one package of printing paper. I've only put paper in it twice. Each time it was about a 1/4 inch or 3/8 of an inch thick stack of paper in the tray. I've even tried shutting the printer down when its not being used for a long period of time but the ink is still disapearing. Where is it going? Why is it going there? How do I stop it? This is rediculous. I may as well junk the thing even though it still works because I cant aford to keep feeding it ink when its just sitting there doing nothing most of the time.
    Thank you
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I just got another email from HP about this problem wanting to know what I found for a solution to this problem. From all of the suggestions from the HP tec support all of them pretty much kept saying the same thing. That it is my fault that it's using so much ink because I have it on the wrong settings. One tec did slip and say that it doesn't matter what settings you have it on it will always use the Photo Black cartridge for printing plain black text and it doesn't matter if you have a X-Large Black cartridge in it for text printing because it was made to always use the Photo Black for text and even use some of the colors to blend with the black to make it stand out. Why anybody would need this when just printing shipping labels and things like that I don't know.
Any who, The only solution for this problem is,,,, junk the printer and get a different brand & model of printer. Research it before buying to find out how much ink it wants to waste and if it will still print black text if it only has a black cartridge in it. I was going to get rid of mine by giving it to a friend since they don't have a printer. But since I want to keep him as a friend I decided not to give it to him. Since it cant be traded in for a different one even though it still works, Its going to the target shooting range the next time I go out shooting. Maybe I'll take a few video's clips of it getting blasted to pieces with a Ruger 10-22 .22 cal. rifle with 25 shot clips, a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle shooting .223 cal with a 30 shot clip, a Chinese SKS 7.62 with a 30 shot clip. And maybe use my Ruger P89 9mm pistol and put a couple 15 round clips of 9mm in it. If there's anything left I'll finish it off with a few 3" magnum loads of #2 steel shot with my 20 gauge shotgun.  Then I think I'll do the same thing to my Westinghouse 46" flat screen HDTV that just died.
Then maybe I'll come back and post the video's of my "solution to this printers problem". It may not fix the problem, but it will be an entertaining way of getting rid of the problem.

  • Problem in Smartform Table/window Line Using Dot Matrix Printer

    Dear Experts,
I faced issue in printing smartform using dot matrix printer. In the print result, the table line (horizontal and vertical) is not printed. I already search the forum but none can solve my issue. I already changed the table line width into 30 or 40 TW but still not work. Everything is OK in the print result, except the table line.
If i manually print/write '__' (underscore), it appear in the print result, but to write horizontal line and vertical line manually in the smartform will be huge effort.
I used device type EPESCP9 for the output device.
Can you tell me what i need to do?
    your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Printing form using dot matrix printer

    Dear experts,
I have a PO form and when printed using laser printer it works just fine, when use dot matrix printer with continuos form , the form's content started to be printed a bit lower compared to the laser printer, should i adjust the paper size in the se71 ?

    Hi Johannes,
We have been know to go directly into the printer defintion and adjust the Horizontal and Veritical Shift. This can be found on the Output Attributes in the Additional SAPScript and Smart Form Information area. We give our A4 printers a slight Negative Horizontal and Positive Vertical shift to better center the output on the different paper size.

  • Dot-Matrix Printers configuration.

    Hi All,
Anybody has any documents on these (weired) Dot Matrix printers configuration. Am working on Japanese characters and the output of the printer behaves weiredly for 1 byte characrers and 2 byte charactre. So when I try to print using the same Layout Set (SAPScript), I get different positioning of the fields depending upon the bytes of characters.
So I want to know and would love to have the information for Dot Matrix problems and their resolutions in SDN.
    Thanks

  • Using TypeTool in Photoshop for Printing Projects

Hi, I am new to Photoshop CC and i have recently subscribed to CC.
The projects i have completed so far have been photo editing/manipulation and adding text to these before sending to print but on reading a few forums i am getting the impression that i should'nt be using the type tool in Photoshop if i am intending on the project being printed? and i get the impression that i should be using Illustrator to create the text as that uses vector format and the text stays crisp? If this is fact what is the type tool for in Photoshop and why can't it use vector based text?
I have downloaded the trial version of illustrator CC and clearly see that when i create the same text in illustrator it remains crisp and clear when resizing and i understand this happens because the vector format uses mathamatical code and Photoshop uses raster based graphics.
I suppose what i am asking is am i over complicating matters and should continue using Photoshop for everything or do i need to be using Illustrator as well for the text side of my projects? Would this mean editing/manipulating the image in Photoshop then importing the completed image into Illustrator to add the text?
    Regards, David.

I suppose what i am asking is am i over complicating matters
Maybe, maybe not. We actually do not know, since you haven't told us what "print work" means - could be photo-based posters, could be multi-page documents with mostly text. Begin to see the problem? Using decorative rasterized text would be no issue for one, but quite a problem for the other. That said, PS is perfectly able to retain the vector qualities of its text layers when saving PDFs, which is what most print facilities will want, anyway. You merely have to avoid using anything that would cause it to rasterize like layer styles, blending modes or elaborate manual formatting because there is no way to translate most of that stuff to vectors. That limitation would also apply to Illustrator or InDesign, BTW, so the choice of program is not necessarily the defining factor here. You still need to know what you do. That and of course that the actual print process may define further requirements or eliminate them. E.g. sending off your files to a cheap web printing service and having them printed on art paper, canvas or as a photo book with an inkjet or laser printer will work just fine based on RGB raster images, but mass-printing a flyer or book on a conventional offset machine will inevitably require CMYK mode and preferably any mass text/ paragraph text to be a separate, ideally vector-based plate/ ink so it can be printed with a suitable raster (or no raster at all) independent of other image content and retains its ink density/ saturation to look really black plus a maximum of sharpness and readability. as you see, just you simple question opens a whole can of worms and it always comes down to what specific work you do.

  • HT3728 I do not need another wireless network but want to use the airport express for printer access only.  Can this be done and how?

I do not need another wireless network but want to use the airport express for printer access only.  Can this be done and how?

You can configure the AirPort Expess to "Join a wireless network" and enable the Ethernet port so that Ethernet devices will be able to connect.
In order to print from the iOS devices, you will need to have an application like Printopia installed on your Mac. The Mac must be active when you want to print.
More details here: Printopia - AirPrint to Any Printer - Print from iPad - Print from iPhone ...
There is a free trial available for Printopia, so make sure that it will work before you buy the AirPort Express.

How do you make mobile numbers the default number used in your contacts for sending text?

Go to your contacts, find the contact that you wish to text, hit 'edit', and move that contact's numbers around until the mobile number is at the top. Arduous I know, but it works. Now when you go to text that person, the mobile number should be the default.
    Best.
