Use emoji characters in 10.6.8
I've tried to install this symbols but there is no chance for my system. However I learnt this emoticones were standarized on 2010! How come we cannot see / type them? It should be as simple as install a new font.
All apps in the App Store ask for 10.7 or higher, anyone knows any way to use these on 10.6.8? I cannot upgrade my work machine to 10.7.
Thanks and regards!

In order to input many of the new standardized emoticons, you need to use the Character Viewer, View = Code Tables, Tab = Unicode, range 1F300 and upwards.
Sometimes to get documents to diplay these things you need to specifically set the font to symbola or whatever. Making good fonts is in fact not that simple, but the tools are available to everyone to try their hand at it:
http://www.fontlab.com/
http://fontforge.sourceforge.net/
In the end if this kind of stuff is really important to you, I recommend you upgrade your equipment so you can keep pace with the new technology. 10.8 will be out in a couple months.

Using iPad Pages, I inserted emoji characters successfully in a document. They appeared when the document was synced to my iPhone but the characters did not appear when synced to my iMac (Mountain Lion). Only blank spaces where they should have been Why?
You'd need to have an Emoji font installed on your Computer. Do you?

Why would you do that? Just use Character Viewer to input Apple's built in emoji.
OS X Yosemite: Use the Character Viewer
Pages 09 does not support color emoji, use Pages 5 instead. -

Report Generation Toolkit using Chinese Characters
I am trying to use the Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office under LabVIEW 8.0. I would like to use Chinese characters for the headings of the columns using a 2D array of the headings and the Excel Easy Table. When I generate the report, the text of the headings appears to be jumbled and not encoding correctly.
For example:
仪器编号 becomes êNhV÷S
采前初重(g) becomes Ç‘MRRÍ‘ÿg
Any insights here? ThanksHi,
what you describe reminded me of a bug fix in the Report Generation Toolkit 2012 :
339092
Using the "Append Table to Report" VI to add strings of Cyrillic font to a table in an MS Word report results in gibberish being added to the report.
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/09D6DE5170B3C0BD86257A2B004CFD20
I know that Cyrillic and Chinese characters are different but they are often confronted to the same problems...

HTML + using spanish characters
Hi
If this is a dumb question - forgive me.
Note this is for a site that will be in English & Spansih
(translated pages
in Spanish)
But if I want to include spanish characters on a site do I
need to replace
each spanish character with ascii code or is there another
way to get the
characters to display
e.g.
resúmenes - do i have to enter it into the html as
resúmenes
also
When I view the pages on my pc the spanish characters display
correctly.
Once the pages are uploaded the spanish characters do not
display - why
would this happen?
Thanks

HT4976 how can I use emoji keyboard on iPhone 3GS????
how can I use emoji keyboard on iPhone 3GS In wts app nd version ov this is 5.1.1(9B206)????????
Once the keyboard is connected, it should work with any app that uses the standard keyboard interface, so it will work with iWork.
br121: iWork was released for iPad quite some time ago, and updated for iPhone 4 recently.

How can I use ASCII Characters on the iPad?
I have an iPad (1) and use iOS 4.3.5. Is there an easier Way of using ASCII Characters than having to use the "copy-Paste" procedure? If not, can we expect to see the feature of entering the ASCII code straight through the standard keyboard soon?
Norisouro wrote:

You need to give some details about what it is you want to do, because ASCII Characters are what are already on the keyboard. It is non-ASCII that you might need to copy/paste.

I think you can be sure that Apple is never going to include a feature in iOS that has you input special characters by typing in numbers like Windows does it. Mac's have always used a different approach. -
How to use special characters in regular expression
HI all, I am new to regular expression.
Can any one please tell me the regular expression for characters which are used in regular expression like " [({. tetc.Is there any particular expression to prefix before using these charactersExpression:
< td .*? bgcolor = \" ( [^ \" ] +) \" \\s* .*? > ( .+? ) </td>
It will search for expression starting with <td ,
.*? means any characters zero or more than one,
then it will find bgcolor = , then literal \"... \(any char) is that specific char
[ ^ \" ] any character but not literal \",this means there has to be something between ".... " if empty then wont match ,+ is 1 or more times
Then again literal \ " , after that \\s* means zero or more num of spaces,
then again , .*? means any characters zero or more than one,
it will search for literal > , again any chars . * ?
Finally </td> will be searched.....!!
So all expressions having this particular structure will be
matched.
Output :
<td align="left" valign="top" bgcolor="ffffff" width="177">bla bla bla</td> -
Using chinese characters in struts-config.xml
Hi
i am developing an application in Chinese language where i need to create all the urls in the Chinese language. i am using struts 1.3.5.can anyone tell me is it possible to use Chinese characters in struts-config.xml action mappings? i tried but it is not working. is there ant way really?
Regards,

Are you doing that? -

What Firefox version is currently installed on the computer?
You can find the full version of the current current Firefox release (37.0.2) in all languages and all operating systems here:
If you have a very old Firefox version then you could consider to uninstall that version to clean up existing registry keys (especial the uninstall key).
Make sure NOT to remove "personal data" when you uninstall Firefox, because that will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Check the Firefox program folder and remove the Firefox program folder if there are still files left in it.
*(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
*(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

Given file name or path contains Unicode or double-byte characters. Retry using ASCII characters for filename and path
What does this mean? It is happening when I try to publish an OAM for Dreamweaver.
Also: How can I specify the browser in Edge Animate? It is just going wherever. Are there no Preferences for Edge Animate?
BTW. Just call it Edge. Seriously. Do you call it Illustrator Draw? Photoshop Retouching? No, my file name is mainContent.oam
My project name is mainContent.an
This error happens when I try to import into Dreamweaver. Sorry, I wasn't clear on that earlier.
I thought maybe it was because I had saved my image as a png. So re-saved as a svg, still get the error.
DO I have a setting is Dreamweaver CC that is wrong? Should I try this in Dreamweaver CS6? I might try that next.
Why is this program so difficult? I know Flash. I know After Effects. I can work the timeline part just great. It's always in the export that I have problems.
On a MacPro, 10.7.

Use special characters in a DTD
Hello,
I created a DTD amd want to use some special characters in this DTD. E.G. I want to define:
<!ATTLIST element value (val1|val 2|<val3>|%val4) #REQUIRED>
I tried the following but the parser does not accept without errors:
<!ATTLIST element value (val1|val&#xxx;2|&#yyy;val3&#zzz;....
Of course I replaced the xxx, yyy and zzz with the unicode number of the special sign.
So what do I do wrong? Or is it in general not possible to use special characters ?
Thank you very much,
FindusHi,
one thing I did which does not work is:
<!ATTLIST element values (&|<|val1) #REQUIRED>
The XML parser (XMLSpy) alway requires me for entering a '%' which is as far as I know only used for parameter entities. But & and the rest are general entities, aren't they ??
I played arround a little bit and found a solution which still does not completly solve my problem: In order to use special characters I declare parameter entities:
<!ENTITY percent "%">
<!ENTITY lower "<">
<!ATTLIST element values (%lower;|val1|%percent;) #REQUIRED>
This works so far so good but if I want to embed the special characters (which is what I need to do!) the parser still gives me errors:
<!ATTLIST element values (text%lower;moreText|val1|%percent;) #REQUIRED>
I would be really glad if anybody could test this on his own and post me about the results. For any other kind of avice I'm very thankful, too.
Thank you very much,

Im having trouble using Emoji on some apps since i downloaded ios5... Anyone else experiencing this? Ive tried every thing deleting emoji and apps and re-instaling to no sucsess?? Any help would be great thanks!
YES! I am having a lot of AppStore problems since iOS 6. My 2 main issues are:
1. AppStore crashes constantly or will just sit & spin then does nothing at all.
2. If I search for a specific App, making sure my spelling is correct, AppStore will NOT bring the app up. Instead, it will bring up unrelated apps.
Podcasts app does the same thing, as well as jumbling up dates. Very impossible to find the correct episode.
APPLE, please tell me you are reading this and that a fix is quickly under way!! -
Using cyrillic characters in cfdocument
Hi,
I'm currently developing on a CF8 single installation on a RedHat AS 4 machine using apache.
I have a multilingual web app that requires the on the fly creation of .pdf files, and those .pdf files require some if not all of their content to be presentable in languages using Cyrillic characters. I have all this working and it's very efficient, except for 1 problem.
The only way I can get the cyrillic characters to be correctly included in the .pdf is to take for example the Arial.ttf font from a WinXP box and install it in the CF fonts directory: /opt/coldfusion8/runtime/jre/lib/fonts, by default there are only 5 versions of the Lucinda font.
So my question is, seeing as I don't think I can use the MS Arial.ttf, since TrueType fonts are under MS trademark, is there a solution to this using any free fonts? It would be much better if I could find a solution using a single font supporting unicode that can display such languages as Macedonian, Russian and Polish, as well as th Sinitic languages, (I know the syntax is different, but it would be nice to have the option)
Hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Ashit used to be if you bought ms office international edition you got ms arial
unicode font too. now i think it's $99 per 5 users (though no longer available
from ms, ascender licenses it now i think). have you tried www.sil.org? also
http://unicode.org/resources/fonts.html has some listed, make sure to checkout
what alan wood has on offer.
