Use Existing Song Files on Mobile Devices

I have always been very frustrated with the fact that if I want to listen to a song or use it in a playlist (offline) within the Spotify app, I cannot do so with a song that is already on my device.
Example:
I use the Spotify app on my iPhone for most of my music listening. However, I have a handful of other apps that allow me to listen to my local music through them (like a game or workout app for example), but all these other apps can only see songs on my iPhone that were synced via iTunes. Say I want to listen to a certain playlist or album during my workout using my workout app, but I also want to listen to those same songs later in the Spotify app (offline, to save on data streaming). This would require me to have TWO copies of each song on my device (Which is rediculous! Who has the extra space for that?), one in the native music player library, and one synced using Spotify.
PLEASE find a way for the Spotify app to recognize the existing songs on a mobile device without having to sync them using desktop Spotify. No one should have to have duplicates of local songs on their device. Compatibility with the local native music on a device would be a godsend!

I joined this community just so I could recommend this feature. I hope the people at Spotify do not find this trivial due to the ability to add local files via syncing with the desktop app, we all know this. MANY of us, including myself, don't have/use desktops anymore. I have no way of adding my music to My Music, I have to use two separate apps for music which is extremely inconvenient. The worst part is how easy this would be to implement, especially with the dev tools released with iOS 8; There is no reason Spotify shouldn't play well with the rest of iOS apps, environment, and local files. This (besides Apples reluctance to allow Spotify to be the default music app, and Siri integration, which tbf is Apple problem) is the the only thing keeping Spotify from being near darn perfect. Please fix this soon!!

    That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

    Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
    Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

    I do not have the Driver folder in this folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support like it says I should and my Apple Iphone appears in Portable Devices only, not in Universal devices. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it. My Iphone is still not recognized by Itunes when I plug it in. I can see my photos in the internal storage folder on my Windows 7 system though. So I know my PC sees the device. The Iphoneis an Iphone 4 with IOS 6 installed. It was working fine until I had to reinstall my Windows system. Now Itunes does not see it. I've uninstalled Itunes and reinstalled it (64bit) to no avail. Where is the Driver folder article TS1538 talks about?

  • Adcfgclone.pl  with using existing context file

    Hi,
    I want to clone application server with using existing context file. can I do adcfgclone.pl with using existing context file?
    What is the syntax ?
    is there any issue to use this?
    thanks

    Actually I want to clone existing enviornment of R12.0.6 application to fix local inventory issue.
    Problem: During r12.1.3 upgrade I noticed that local inventory has issue. R12.1.3 upgrade was done succssfully after clone of production. When I started upgrade on production I noticed issue during 10.1.3.4 upgrade. Thats why I thought if I clone existing production enviornment on same server by using same context file then 10.1.3.4 upgrade will run.
    I know there is a way to fix inventory but I don't want to do to avaoid more issue. Please advice which path is good in such enviornment.Are you referring to global inventory? If yes, you can simply copy it from the source servers to the target ones.
    If the PATHs are different then please refer to:

  • PDF files on mobile Devices with iOS and/or Android

    I would like to use PDF files (with embedded JS Code) on Smartphones and Tablets with iOS and/or Android.
    Are there Apps out there that not only display the contents (the "graphics") of the PDF file correctly
    but also execute the embedded JS Code properly on such devices?
    And if so, which Versions will be supported for
         Adobe Pro?
         iOS?
         Android?
    Are there freeware or shareware Versions available?

    Since the mobile devices, smart phones, tablets, eReaders, do not support JavaScript the app you use will need to provide the JavaScript support. Not all apps provide this support for JavaScript. The apps that support JavaScript only support a limited number of features so you will need to test the PDFs, the device and the app.
    The version of Acrobat that runs on your computer will not work on your mobile device since the CPU's, Central Processing Unit, machine code is very different since the devices have different CPUs and the storage space to hold the code on the mobile device is much less than your desktop or laptop.
    Adobe Mobile Reader does support some JavaScript but not date formatting and not document level JavaScript.
    Expert PDF for the iPxx supports the largest amount of JS but still does not support all the possible JS that could be used in a form.

  • Working with files on mobile devices

    Hi everybody,
    at the moment we are running a Vibe 3.4 server which is used most of the time by normal pc clients with the users using the browser or the Vibe desktop client to connect. Now we are getting a tablet project using Vibe more via mobile access (Android based) . The Problem now is, I can do many things with my mobile Vibe access or the Vibe App but I havent figured out how to work with my files stored in Vibe while accessing them via a mobile device.
    Is there any possibility to open and work with the files/attachments?
    If no, is this a planned feature for the future?
    Any help, hint or trick is is greatly appreciated

  • Access image files on mobile device

    Hi
    I've just started playing about with J2ME and was writing a application for my mobile (LG8120) ... it a simple applicaion, an image scroller. Allowing the user to scroll around a large image using the keypad ... Anyhow, i've come across a snag! .. How do you access images off the mobile device?, such as taken by the camara, or sent to me ... basically file access! ...
    thanks for your time ...

    For image access you have 'Image' class and 'ImageItem' to display image on form.
    You can either get image from resource file (bundled with jar) or via HTTP.
    For resource file use :
    getClass().getResourceAsStream(imageFile)
    For HTTP use:
    HttpConnection newHttpConnection = (HttpConnection) Connector.open(imageUrl);
    To create image use:
    Image.createImage()

  • Can i create a file in Mobile Device?

    Hello Guyz,
    I need a small help over here..I need to know wheather i can create or is there any provision to create a file or a folder using J2ME tool kit in a mobile device...
    The file is of small capacity only..
    Thank You
    Regds,
    Gokul

    Hi Gokul,
    JSR-75 introduced the FileConnection API. The FileConnection API can be used for opening, creating, deleting and accessing files. It can also be used for creating directories and retrieving the free diskspace.
    However, to be able to use the FileConnection API, you must be sure that your device and your emulation environment supports JSR-75.
    Otherwise, you're not able to create files or folders on a certain disk or within a certain directory. Then, you can only use manufacturer specific API calls or try using RMS (record management system) for storing byte information in a MIDlet suite. RMS is frequently used for maintaining highscores or saving certain program settings.
    Cheers for now,
    Jasper

  • Problem uploading file from mobile device to tomcat server

    Hi guys, here's how it goes.
    I'm designing a site using JSP for wireless devices like PDAs, Smartphones etc, basically any mobile device that has browser capabilities. There's a page where the user is allowed to upload a file from the mobile device, which works perfectly fine when I access the site using a PC. But when I try to upload a file from a mobile device, ( I tried using a Nokia 6680 ) , there wasn't any error but the file just wasn't stored in my server.
    Here's how the upload form looks like :
    <FORM name="filesForm" action="ProcessFileUpload.jsp" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data">
            <font size="1" face="arial">File :</font><br>
    <input type="file" name="file1" size="10" style="font-size: 9px;"/><br><br>
            <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Upload Files" style="font-size: 9px;"/>
        </FORM>Here's the gist of ProcessFileUpload.jsp:
    <%
         System.out.println("");
            System.out.println("Content Type ="+request.getContentType());
            DiskFileUpload fu = new DiskFileUpload();
            // If file size exceeds, a FileUploadException will be thrown
            fu.setSizeMax(1000000);
            List fileItems = fu.parseRequest(request);
            Iterator itr = fileItems.iterator();
            while(itr.hasNext()) {
              FileItem fi = (FileItem)itr.next();
              //Check if not form field so as to only handle the file inputs
              //else condition handles the submit button input
              if(!fi.isFormField()) {
                System.out.println("NAME: "+fi.getName());
                System.out.println("SIZE: "+fi.getSize());
                System.out.println(fi.getOutputStream().toString());
               // File fNew= new File(application.getRealPath("/"), fi.getName());
             File tempFileRef  = new File(fi.getName());
             File fNew = new File(filepath.toString(),tempFileRef.getName());
         String MM_Overall_DRIVER = "org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver";
         String MM_Overall_USERNAME = "****";
         String MM_Overall_PASSWORD = "*********";
         String MM_Overall_STRING = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/";
         Driver DriverRecordset1 = (Driver)Class.forName(MM_Overall_DRIVER).newInstance();
         Connection ConnRecordset1 = DriverManager.getConnection(MM_Overall_STRING,MM_Overall_USERNAME,MM_Overall_PASSWORD);
         PreparedStatement StatementRecordset1 = ConnRecordset1.prepareStatement("use " + domain);
         ResultSet Recordset1 = StatementRecordset1.executeQuery();
         filepath.append("/").append(tempFileRef.getName());
         StringBuffer fp = new StringBuffer("insert into ");
         fp.append(domain).append(".filepaths (path) values ('").append(filepath).append("')");
         PreparedStatement ps = ConnRecordset1.prepareStatement(fp.toString());
         ps.executeUpdate();
                System.out.println(fNew.getAbsolutePath());
                fi.write(fNew);
              else {
                System.out.println("Field ="+fi.getFieldName());
            }Basically I store the file uploaded in the tomcat server and the path of the file is saved in a table in MySQL.
    When I upload a file using a PC, the tomcat console displays the content type file name yada yada yada. However, when I upload a file from the Nokia 6680, I get just the content type then things just stop there and nothing else happens. No file name no file size whatsoever. The path of the file is not inserted into MySQL and the file is not stored in the server.
    Can anyone please enlighten me on this issue and hopefully gimme a solution to this problem? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
