Use family sharing, but make purchases with individual credit cards.

I am curious if there is any way to use Family Sharing for iOS 8 with multiple credit cards.
My parents have there account attached to their credit card, and my brother and I have our accounts attached to our credit cards respectively.
We want to all be in one family to share out purchases, but when we go to creat it, our parents card is the only card that can be billed.  Itunes effectively forgets about the other credit cards on file.
We want to be able to share with the family, but we also want to make purchases individually.
Thank you,
Eric

The only way to do that would be to redeem iTunes gift cards to the individual accounts.  Gift cards redeemed will go to THAT specific account, and would be usable by only that person for purchases.  The gift card balance would be used until it is gone, then it would revert to the organizer's credit card.

    Hi Saramos,
When setting up Family Sharing you must have a credit or debit card as your payment method. See this article for reference -
    Family purchases and payments
When a family member makes a purchase it will be billed to any gift or store credit that they have first. If none exists it will be billed to you.
As the family organizer, you may not set your billing method for purchases to anything other than a credit or debit card. If you have a store credit such as from pre-paid cards, it may not be shared with other family members. See this article for reference -

  • Is it possible to make purchases with maestro debit card in South Africa?

I want to make purchases with maestro debit card in south Africa. I don't want to get a credit card.

That's possible even without the JMF.
On your server you have the audiodata as bytes, which you send over the internet (take a look at javax.net and java.net packages).
The clients receive the bytes and play the audiodata(javax.sound.sampled).
The delay can be very low, if your server is fast enough and the audiodata you send, is not too big. (Uncompressed data in cd-quality (44100Hz, 16bit, stereo) needs 44100*2*2 bytes per second, which will be too much).
Maybe it's easier if you use JMF, but all clients will need the JMF.

  • How can I use family sharing, but allow my daughter to purchase with her iTunes allowance without asking permission?

I love the idea of iTunes family sharing, but I don't think it currently supports my situation.
My daughter's iTunes account gets a monthly allowance (plus occasional gift cards), and does not have a credit card tied to it. That way, she can buy whatever she wants, but only with her existing account balance.
I'd like to tie her account to mine via family sharing, but want to keep her spending limited to just her allowance balance. Also, I don't need to grant permission each time she wants to buy something when using her balance. Ideally, she would be permitted to buy exactly as she does now (no permission necessary, no credit card on the account, and only using allowance funds), but also be tied my family account to listen to music I've already bought.
It appears that my 3 options are:
Do not do family sharing and keep the accounts separate.
Tie the accounts together, put "ask to buy" on her account, and then get bugged for permission each time she wants to get something (as well as keep track myself of her going over her allowance and dipping into my credit card).
Tie the accounts together, don't use "ask to buy", and keep my fingers crossed that she doesn't spend more than her allowance amount (because iTunes would permit spending more than that and charge my card).
Options 2 and 3 don't work for me, and option 1 doesn't take advantage of family sharing.
Can I have a family sharing account that *doesn't* charge to my credit card?

    Hello jeffchr,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you don't want to be billed for a family members purchases. I would recommend that you read these articles, they explain the features options.
    Family Sharing
All new iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases initiated by family members will be billed to the family organizer’s account.
    Family purchases and payments
    Making purchases
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card.
How iTunes Store purchases are billed
Which payment methods will be used first?
When you make a purchase, content credits are used first, followed by Gift Certificate, iTunes Card, or Allowance Account credits. Your credit card or PayPal account is then charged for any remaining balance.

  • With iOS 8's family sharing, will family members be able to share apps that they previously purchased with different credit cards with one another for free (given that they will all use the same credit card once iOS 8 comes out)?

Question 1: In my family of 4, we currently have different Apple ID's and we all use different credit cards to purchase our apps and media. When iOS 8 is released, if we agree to share the same credit card, will we be able to access apps that a family member purchased with their own credit card prior to iOS 8's release? To clarify, under iOS 7, Member 1 has purchased Apps A and B with his credit card. Under iOS 8, if Members 1, 2, 3, 4 decide to use Member 4's credit card, will Members 2, 3, 4 be able to access Apps A and B?
Question 2: If we all decide to use the same credit card now, once iOS 8 is released, will family members have access to the apps/media purchased by the fourth family member?

You can read everything that is known about ios 8 on Apples website.
There is no way for anyone to know any more than that.

  • How can I use Family Sharing for Store purchases if I use a different Apple ID for purchases?

A key feature of Apple's iCloud Family Sharing is the ability to share store purchases with invited family members. However, like many people, I use a different Apple ID for iCloud and Store purchases (ironically, primarily for the exact purpose of sharing among family).
Can I use iCloud Family Sharing to share purchases if I use a different Apple ID for Store (iTunes, App Store, etc.) purchases?

Sorry, let me clarify. I have two Apple IDs A and B:
A: Used for iCloud. All my calendar, mail, contacts, and other iCloud features are here. This is the ID I use as "the" iCloud on my iOS devices and OS X machines.
B: Used only for purchases, on all my devices and machines. This is what I used to log into iTunes, or to buy apps for iOS or OS X.
The issue is that the only way (currently) to set up Family Sharing is to invite from an iCloud ID (A, in my case) on an iOS 8 device. That's not the ID (B) I use for purchases. The question is whether there's a way to share those purchases given that I'm configured on all my devices with A for iCloud. (Clearly if I somehow send invitations from B, I can share purchases; but that's not the question.)
It sounds like the answer to that question is 'No'.
If that's the case, how do I invite from B? Do I have to configure an iOS device with B as the iCloud ID? My problem isn't that I want to ("willy nilly") avoid inviting form B; it's that there seems to be no way (certainly no convenient way) to do that.

  • HT5552 I want to make a purchase with my credit card but it keeps taking it out of my account on the gift card I put in there. How can i change that?

I want to make a purchase with my charge card. But each time I buy a song it takes it immediately off of the credit I have in my account from a gift card. How can I change it to charge me for a purchase instead of taking it out of the credit I have in there?

    You don't change it.
It will use any account balance first, once it is gone, then it will go to your credit card.

  • Can I use Family sharing on a device with iOS 7?

Can I use Family Sharing on a device that is not with iOS 8?

    Hi milxtor,
To setup or use Family Sharing, you will need devices to be on iOS 8. Take a look at the article below for more details on setting that up.

  • HT5622 I tried to make a purchase with a credit card to I have been using with I Tunes for 2 years.  Now it's saying my security code is wrong??????

Tried to make a purchase thru Itunes with a credit card I have been using for years.  Now it wants my security code which I entered three times and it said it was wrong (I know the correct) number.  Then I changed to another credit card, and it is still denying by purchase.  I was prompted to go to this website so here I am.  Can you please help me out
    Thank yyou

whenever you attempt to put a card on itunes it puts a temporary $1 authorization hold for 24 hours - 48 hours depending on your bank - since you attempted so many times that is why that $1 is showing up so often - are you using a debit card? because if you are then if even the authorization hold doesn't go through like it should it will show a "ghost" charge that will drop off soon - it isn't fraud though - make sure your billing address is correct - if that doesn't work contact itunes store at getsupport.apple.com - click itunes - itunes store and follow the prompts and you can chat or email them.

Can I pay for a purchase in the iTunes store with a credit card instead of my Apple ID balance? I want to take advantage of a credit card promotion.

If you can gift that specific item to yourself, do so. If not, no.

  • HT204370 Can I retreive movies or shows that I have purchased with my Credit Card but from someone else's account?

Long story short.. I purchased a bunch of shows from my girlfriend's account using my credit card... Can I still retreive these shows and use them on my account?

You could add your iCloud account as a second ("secondary") account on her iPad and turn on mail syncing.  It would then appear in the mail app on her iPad alongside her own account, but she can select to view just her inbox.  When you want to view your email, you can select your own inbox to view.  The only limitation is that email in a secondary iCloud account is fetched periodically rather than pushed to the device.
If you want to do that, on her iPad go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud, sign in with your iCloud ID and turn on Mail.

  • Purchases with my credit card but not throught my account

    Hi there,
I filled my credit card details out in my account to purchase Whatsapp (0.79eur), that i use a lot, then i erased my CC details from my account, 45min after the end of the purchased download.
I can see now a second purchase for 1.98 eur on my bank statement which actually got through before i even bought whatsapp ( 5min difference between), i obvioulsy received invoice only for the one ordered through my account.
How can i get this reversed ?
Can it happen again even if my CC details are erased from my account ?
    Thx for the help
    Sylvain
    (iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3.5)

I did, only whatsapp is showing as purchased.
Since it's a very lil amount, i'll wait to see if it gets back. That would be just weird to proceed a charge hold everytime i put my CC details in and even more that it shows debted and not as reservation.
I'll see with my bank otherwise.
Cheers for you help and time

  • Purchasing with International Credit card but real US address?

    Hello guys.
I'm wondering does apple US store accepts International credit card and shipping to a real US address.
When I say real address it means it is not a forwarder address. (its my sister's)
I know Apple US store accepts international CC but for any other products but how about iPhone and iPad2 ?
I'm sure some people was in my same situation.

I have a lot of experience buying internationally from Apple. I doubt that an International card will be acceptable. Apple requires a US billing address for any bank card used in the US online Apple Store in addition to a US shipping address that is not a suspected forwarder.

  • Missing 10% in rewards for first purchase with BBY credit card

Hello, I bought a TV moments after I was approved for credit card. The 60 inch Vizio cost about $793. I bought the TV 20 days ago and my account is showing only $40 in reward credit. I believe I should have about $80 since I was told I would recieve 10% back on my first purchase. Thanks,Lindsay

    Hi Lindsay,
Welcome to the Best Buy forum, and thank you for posting.
I am very familiar with the 10% back in points promotion, as it has been an active offer for almost a year now.  A member can qualify for 10% back by signing up for a new Best Buy credit card and using their new credit card in the same day along with standard financing.  If the terms of the offer are met, then 10% back in points should post to the member's My Best Buy™ account within about 20 days.
With that having been said, I would like to go over your My Best Buy™ account with you to ensure it is up-to-date.  I can see that you have already sent me a private message, so I will reply to it to see what I can do to further assist.  To check your private messages, you will want to login to the forum and click on the yellow envelope icon located at the top of the page.
I hope that you have a wonderful day and enjoy your new TV!
