Use filename as title

I created a folder of 400 photos for a video montage and their filenames include the date/place/info for each photo. When creating a montage, is there a way to use the filenames as the titles or do I have to type in 400 individual titles?

  • Iphoto does not consistently use filename as title

I am importing photos from a Finder folder into iphoto (09). For some photos, the program automatically uses the file name as title; for other photos it does not assign any title. I can't make out any pattern. Since I gave the files names that have meaning, it would be very helpful if I could see them in iphoto. (If I look at the Extended Photo Info, the file name can be seen, but it does not show up in the regular view as titles.) Can anyone help? Thanks!

Have you looked at the files with other programs, for example Preview?
If you show the Inspector in Preview (Tools > Show Inspector) and open the IPTC and Exif tab, you can see the metadata tags of the photos. Do the image files in question have different IPTC or Exif tags set? Some cameras write empty captions to the photos, that might be read by iPhoto as empty titles.

In compiling our books it would be helpful to not have this extension appear as it then requires us to create extra files without them.

  • Using Trailer text "Titles" in other imovie projects?

The various trailers in the new imovie 11 are great, but I can't seem to utilize the text / titles specific to those trailers on any of my other projects? Is there a trick to pulling it off? Same thing with the music in the trailers, can't seem to apply it to / access within any other projects in imovie ....

There is a better way to use the "Animatics" used in iMovie's trailers. Unfortunately, Apple didn't consider that more text may be need in a trailer as there is currently no command or native function to create new text using the same title effects used in iMovie's trailers. Fortunately, after a short search on the net, I found this:

This guy provides step-by-step instructions on how to use iMovie's trailer animatics in any project. Hope this helps you, it helped me!

  • Use Sharepoint Item Title on Search Results

    Hello,
I'm trying to use the property Title of files on a Document Library as the Title of search results. It seems that I have to map the crawled property "TermTitle" to the managed property "Title".
Notwithstanding, the crawled property "TermTitle" is not available on the list. I'm using Sharepoint Online, after-upgrade.
    Any tips?
    Thanks!

Hello, Mr. Mahfoud, Thank you for your assistance! I looked for the crawled properties "Title of item in the list" and TermTitle but neither are available, take a look:
cant post the link to the img directly, but you can see it here - http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/getfile/510784

  • RH inserts filenames as title elements (instead of the actual chapter titles)

    Hi all,
I am not sure whether this is a bug or can be fixed. When I import from FM using chapter title paragraph styles for breaking the content into topics, then RH inserts the resulting file names into the topic as <title> elements and not the title names themselves.
This is no problem as long as you can use the default naming convention (i.e. heading and filename identical). For some output formats hovever it is necessary to use a different naming convention to avoid non-english characters in file names. In such a case I use <n> as naming, resulting in files that have ascending numbers as file names.
Now I receive e.g. a topic with the h1 heading "This is my topic", the filename "123.htm" and the HTML title "123". That is very bad because in the search results e.g. in Javahelp the HTML titles are displayed, resulting in unusable search results.
Do you have any suggestions how to avoid this dilemma?
    Robert

I thought you could control that by using something in a marker – there was some little-known feature that allowed you to control what RH called the filename or or topic title (I forget which) based on a special marker & marker text in FM. You’ll need to dig around for it in either the forum or the TCS blog or the help.

  • Filename -v- Title

Most of my photos get imported into iPhoto (08) sporting the file name -- usually something like "DSC0001.jpg" -- into the space reserved for the "title" in the information panel. This is also the title that is displayed when I upload the photos to sites like flickr.
I need the original file names in order to trace edited photos back to the originals, but sometimes it might be nice to change the title that is displayed with a photo.
So, if I change the title, am I also changing the file name? If not then... where / how would I display the filename after I have retitled a photo?
    Thanks,
    --PS

This is the iPhoto 6 forum, but I don't believe this aspect of iPhoto has changed much in the upgrade. The wording of the commands may be slightly different.
Changing the title within iPhoto does not affect the filename at all. To see the filename, you can right-click the photo and choose Show Info from the contextual menu. Or do Photos > Get Info, or type Command-i. The info box contains file information, including the filename.
To see where the file is stored, right-click and choose Show File (or Show Original file for the original version of an edited photo).
And, you do not need to go inside the iPhoto Library package to access your photos. Do everything from the iPhoto Window, or export the photos for use outside of iPhoto.
I need the original file names in order to trace edited photos back to the originals...
Why? iPhoto can keep track of this for you. One edited version can be stored, linked with its Original in the library and giving you the option to revert to the original at any time. The limitation is that iPhoto only deals with one edited version, so you must duplicate the photo if you like to keep multiple edited versions. You can create a copy within iPhoto (right-click and choose Duplicate or Photos > Duplicate) and then edit that copy. To edit your photos in another application, set it as your external editor in iPhoto's Preferences.
I apologize if any of this isn't true for iPhoto '08. If it's not, perhaps my response will be helpful for a user of V6.
    Regards.

  • Use Filename as Basis to Set Various Metadata Properties

    Hi,
I have folders full of images. The filenames will be in the form of
ARTIST#EVENT#PHOTOGRAPHER#RANDOMNUMBER.jpg but could also potentially be
ARTIST at EVENT by PHOTOGRAPHER - RANDOMNUMBER.jpg. I'm happy to use whichever is easier. Basically I can set any delimiter I want and vary it up if needed
I have seen a few examples where the filename is set to the title, description etc but I'm having no luck editing the files to what I need. Ideally I'd like
Document Title: Artist at Event by Photographer
    Author: Photographer
Description: Artist at Event by Photographer courtesy of Company Name
Keywords: Artist, Event, Photographer, Company Name
I presume this is possible but was hoping some kind soul out there could help!
    Thanks in advance,
    JJ

I'm now using Adobe CC and the script doesn't seem to work anymore
i select the images, click on the option under "tools" and nothing happens. It just goes back to view the desktop. This is my file in full

  • Feature Requests - Title Names Reflect Text Used in Actual Title - Allow Unique Duplicate Titles

I would like to request a feature for the titles in Adobe Premiere. In After Effects, when you type out a title, that title's name becomes the first few words of whatever you typed. In essence, the title automatically names itself whatever the text is.  It's super handy and makes creating multiple titles a breeze because it eliminates the extra step of having to actually name your title something unique. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see Premiere adopt this.  It makes a lot of sense and would save users a ton of time when working with title heavy projects.
Also, in After Effects when you duplicate a title inside the timeline, it becomes it's own unique title file.  In Premiere it just becomes a linked mirror of the duplicate, so any text changes you make to either file will result in a text change in the other.   I'm not crazy about this. I wish the titles would just become their own unique file when duplicated, so you can just move down the timeline creating text files quickly and easily by duplicating your previous title and moving on.  This is how After Effects does it and how Final Cut 7 used to do it.
Premiere is not very efficient at creating titles.  In large projects that require a lot of titling, it would be nice to be able to just select a title in the timeline, duplicate it, change the content inside and have the name of the new file reflect the new content. It would also be nice if the duplicated title was its own title and not linked in anyway to the duplicate.

Thanks Kevin, I went and did that.
And yes Jerry, it is in the timeline that I believe this feature would be the most helpful.  I am aware that you can do it in the project panel, which is what I have been doing.  In text heavy projects, having to go back and forth to the project panel over and over again can be cumbersome.  It would be nice if I could just live in the timeline without having to constantly mouse over to the project panel.  When you're doing over 25 titles, it gets a little tedious.

  • Can I Use These Software Titles If I Buy A Mac?

Hello everyone, I recently enrolled at Phoneix University online classes are starting this month on the 20th. They faxed me a "Hardware/Software" standards checklist with the following specs & software titles that I would need to complete my courses,
    #1) 1.2GHz> Pentium,AMD processor...I'm purchasing the I-Book1.42Ghz.
#2)Windows XP or 2000 (Can I use Virtual PC 7 with Win XP?)
#3)MS Office 2000 or 97 (I have MS Office 2001 on my destop (PCI) G4 350MHz which is running 9.2 already..could I just export that to my I-Book which is running 10.4?)
    #4)MS Word (See #3)
    #5)MS Powerpoint (See #3)
    #6)MS Excel (See #3)
#7) MS Access: This one isn't in MS Office for Mac, but could I buy it and use it with the Virtual PC 7?
    #8)Microsoft Visio 5.0 or later:I don't even know what this program is for(See #7)
#9)A current anti-virus application. Any Ideas?
This is the deal.....I'm enrolled at Phoneix Online to bump my total credits up so I can go to the Navy in a higher paygrade..(laptops important..mobility) On land I use Pro Tools LE on my old G4 desktop so I want to stay with the Apple platform because of session transfers, and I just know Macs a little better than PC's (comfort factor).
Any and all advice would be appreciated, I just don't want to blow my student loan on a bunch of new "Computer Stuff" that won't let me get my schoolwork done! I gotta' pay tha money back you know!!
    14" I-Book 1.42Ghz G4,PowerMac (PCI Graphics) G4 350Mhz..Mac OS 10.4&9.2   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Upgrade your G4 PowerMac to OSX 10.4 (Tiger).
Buy an ibook or a Powerbook – the best you can afford.
Buy the latest version 'student' version of MS Office for Mac – it's not that expensive.
Don't bother buying Virtual PC, as it's slow and time/money wasting.
You'll be covered for Word, Excel and Powerpoint (although I use Keynote, it's better, and it will import Powerpoint files easily).
You won't have Access for databases; instead buy Appleworks, as it has a database feature (quite powerful), although you won't be able to open Access files – there maybe third-party app's that can convert, try http://www.dataviz.com.
You won't have Visio (it's a flowchart app. by the way) either, but you can use OmniGraffle (http://www.omnigroup.com/) – it's very good.
    Best regards.
