Use fingerprint reader in application software

Hi
I'm an application developer.  I need to use the Lenovo integrated fingerprint reader as part of a timeclock application I am building.  Basically a worker will authenticate and 'punch in' using a fingerprint scan
Where can I find doc about using the Lenovo fingerprint reader driver in my application?
Thank
Yakov

Hello and welcome,
I've moved your post here to the Technologies dev board.  It's a bit of a guess on my part where it should go.
If you or others think it would be better in some other forum, we'll move it again.
And sorry, I don't have a clue how to answer your question.  Hopefully someone else will join the conversation.

  • V570 Fingerprint reader and BioExcess Software issue

Purchased my computer in July 2012. Fingerprint reader and BioExcess were working fine. Nothing special was changed on my PC except installing normal packaged software from other vendors. Sevearl days ago the fingerprint reader stopped reading. Swiping does not do anyting. I do not get an error message or an indication that the swipe did not work or anything like that. It just does nothing. I cannot open the BioExcess software program. Since I cannot swipe, I cannot open it that way. When I try to access the BioExcess software by using my password, the program "dings" but does not open. I do not get any error message. I only get an error message if I intentionally enter the wrong password.
Otherwise the program "dings" and teh dialog box disappears.
    Please help.

Try to reinstall the bioexcess sofrware. Reply with result. It would be D drive or download from support site.

  • Using Fingerprint reader with Apex 4.2

I need help with integrating Fingerprint reader with Apex App 4.2. I want to store the fingerprint data in the database (blob column ) and be able to match the stored data with new scanned data.
    Thank you.

    This will be hard, you will not be able to do it purely through the web browser;
Either make an Active X control to install on the client, or write a small client which shares a cookie or similar to upload the data from. Both ways require interfacing with the actual hardware device and sending the data to the back end process.
Here is an open source matcher and analyser (with a list of supported hardware). APEX will not help you here, this will be hard work.

I would *seriously* consider something like QR codes instead to eliminate 'duplicates'.
    1. register name and password to 'vote'
    2. you are sent a unique QR code to your phone/email/normal mail (your vote)
    3. you present the QR code to the voting process via a camera and vote.
    4. The QR code cannot be reused.
Web QR is a typical example of this, and works, right now. And wouldn't be too hard to integrate with APEX. There are many examples of generating QR codes on the web, including javascript and even APEX if you dig hard enough.
Honestly, use QR codes. It will make your project more fun and with a *much higher* chance of success.

  • Fingerprint reader and Software for the MacBook Pro OSx 10.7.2

As in my other post I have just bought a Mac Book Pro 13" laptop.  I am in the learning curve as I have only worked with Windows for the past 22 years.
On my HP I had a built in fingerprint reader and I software installed that kept all my passwords (in a database on my pc, NOT in any cloud or web based progam) I use to log onto websites, logon to my computer.
I am looking for the same type of software and a fingerprint reader (small usb no wires if possible) for this MacBook.
    Any ideas?
Also, every time I download and install a application, I get a pop up asking for my credentials, how can I get rid of that "feature"?
    Thank you

What type of property do you have?  Seriously they are less frequent targets lets say.  So do you have AV, Internet security (AVG, AVAST, Norton or some other pkg) Malware software installed on your Mac?
    If so, why?
    If not, why?
Any thoughts to the question this post relates to?
    Thanks

  • Recovering Windows password from fingerprint reader

    Hello,
I have used fingerprint reader for a long time and forgotten my windows password. However, I need it now.
I'm running Windows 8 on Lenovo E530 with Fingerprint reader 6.0.200.75.
Is it possible to reveal your windows password in the same way than website passwords? And if it is, how?
Googling didn't produce results and the previous topic here referred to fingerprint reader 5.9.x with different settings page, where it was possible.
    Thank you for assistance.

If you have reviewed Lenovo's fingerprint utility documentation and that has not helped, perhaps calling Lenovo Support would be the best route to take.

  • Fingerprinter reader driver for Linux

I run Ubuntu linux on my x200s laptop and would like to use Fingerprint reader for logging into the machine. Currently Lenovo doesn't seem to provide linux drivers for the fingerprint reader. Is there a plan to provide the linux driver and if so, may I know when its expected?

Lenovo does not support Linux on its systems...You can go through thinkwiki.org and see if there is a work around

  • T420s - fingerprint reader - no software for windows 7

    Hi,
since my last update with 'system update' (active hdd protection and something else) I get an error while logging in into windows with the fingerprint reader.
    Link to image
I am able to start my thinkpad using the fingerprint reader, but logging in into windows and starting the fingerprint reader software leads to that error message. So I removed drivers and software to install again. But I recognized, there are no drivers / software packages for the fingerprint reader for windows 7 anymore on the lenovo server. Also the system update doesn't show anything for that purpose. So I tried installing the windows 8, 8.1 software but I had the same error.
Furthermore, my system update cannot be started with the normal command anymore (tvsu.exe), I have to use the Tvsukernel.exe file in the system update folder. Something went totally wrong here. I tried to reinstall the system update again several times with no success.
Anyone with an idea? Don't want to re set up windows.

  • Install Fingerprint Reader drivers without the software?

Since my last question was answered so quickly and so well I thought I'd try one more.  Are there any drivers to install just the fingerprint reader device without the extra software that comes with it?  I don't want to use the fingerprint reader, but also don't want a unrecognized device in the device manager.
Thanks for any and all help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks for your reply.  I've tried both your options without much success.
    1. I've downloaded the software from here, but when I extract it the only thing extracted is a Setup32.exe and SWI.xml
    2. I don't have an option to disable the scanner in the registry.  When I look I have the following options:
Security-> Fingerprint-> Predesktop Authentication = disabled (it was enabled, but I disabled it)
      Security-> Fingerprint-> Reader Priority = External
      Security-> Fingerprint-> Security Mode = Normal
Changing the Predesktop Authentication to disabled didn't stop Windows from prompting about a new device.  Any other ideas?
Thanks for the help so far.

  • I have a fingerprint reader on my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6) and the newer version will not let me use it to open my previously saved/bookmarked sites, why?

I have a Digital Persona Fingerprint Reader on my laptop. This feature allows you to swipe your finger and open up saved sites and log-ins. It worked fine with the previous version of mozilla but when I try to use it now I get a message that says, 'Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (dpql) isn't associated with any program.'

The company that make the bioscanner for HP have abandoned it. For more details see https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/799388
