Use fixed resolution at all times?

I have a Logitech C920 webcam, and it's connected by USB to my Mac Mini (Mavericks 10.9.1, Skype 6.12 (431)). My Mac Mini has a wired connection to my 120Mb cable service (so I'm not using wireless), and is connected by HDMI to a Sony Bravia TV. Sadly, I regularly encounter video lag of 2-3 seconds, i.e. I can see myself in the smaller chat window and my actions/movements are clearly 2-3 seconds behind the audio. This is how the person I'm calling experiences it, too - they hear what I'm saying but the video is lagging 2-3 seconds behind.
However, having investigated this problem further, I believe I've discovered something of use - in my case, my audio and video go out of sync when Skype changes resolution on the webcam of its own accord. I noticed this because the image of myself in the chat window would be close up (which is how I've set the zoom), and looked like a 4:3 image. Then it would spontaneously change to what appeared to be a widescreen shot, 16:9 style. As soon as it switched to the "widescreen" image, the video would start to lose sync and drop behind the audio. Remembering the technical call information window, I popped that open during my next call and waited to see what happened. It took me a couple of goes to pick it out from the raft of information, but basically when the webcam was broadcasting in 640x480, it would run fine and the video would not lag. However, when Skype switched to 1280x720, the image would go "widescreen", and the lag would kick in.
I've found that if I turn the camera off and on during the call, it defaults back to 640x480, and again the lag disappears. It will eventually go back to 1280x720, though, and the problem immediately reappears. So it would appear that this problem is directly caused by the resolution that Skype is using.
As such, what I need is to force Skype to use 640x480 resolution at all times - I have no doubt at this point that this will solve my problem - but I don't know of a way to do this on the Mac.
Any ideas on how to do this would be greatly received! Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Acrobat Reader - Use Fixed Resolution for Snapshot tool images setting

Hello,
We're currently running Acrobat Reader 9.x on our production Windows Vista SP2 Enterprise image and we're running Acrobat Reader X on our development Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit image. I'm curious if there's a registry setting that sets the "Use fixed Resolution for Snapshop tool images" from 72dpi to 300 dpi.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The per user settings are held in the following registry location:
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Selection
There is a hexadecimal value named iSnapshotResolution which contains the resolution for the Snapshot Tool. Also a parameter called bUseFixedSnapshotResolution which needs to be set to 1 to switch the feature on or 0 to disable the feature.
This is a per user setting but I believe Reader checks the per machine location
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader 10.0\Selection
Presumably you can put the same values into the HKLM section (it doesn't exist by default) so you will need to create the Selection key.

Why is "fixed resolution" in Motion not unchecked by default???

I learned that in Motion 4, "fixed resolution" in the Media tab is supposed to be unchecked by default so that if you bring in Illustrator pdf files, they show up nice and clean (not pixelated).
But I am working with a multi-layered map where each country is being imported into Motion as a separate pdf file. Every single time, I have to navigate to the Media tab and manually uncheck the "fixed resolution" of all the pdf layers. I thought in Motion it was unchecked by default.
Any way to change this setting? I want "fixed resolution" to remain unchecked (as opposed to checked) by default.

Just a guess, but I believe that the Fixed Resolution box is checked by default to keep the program from buckling under large, complex vector graphics when they are imported.
As far as I know there is no way to change that default.

Ok....Got "Problem 2 and 4" solved....still trying to figure out this pop up everytime I click something...it's crazy how fast the pop up blinks...maybe once or 3 blinks then nothing till you close the window, then pop up then disappears...then click something
else and pop up then gone....never seen this before...ive seen it when you tried to get online which turned out to be a virus on a customers cpu I worked on some years ago, I think it has something to do with the deleted files that I spoke of on last
post...I notice it does it on start up as well.....think something is trying to install but not sure. Need to figure out where the appdata or start up folder and see whats in there....maybe it's in there.......so I might wait to see how it acts in the next
couple days for "Problem 1"...but other than that it's running like a champ...so right now I just want to get the pop up windows to stop........thx again for everyone's help on this.

It sounds like no matter what app you are using, your iPad Air restarts on its own. I would start by resetting the phone, with these steps:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
If the issue persists I would use the following article to backup your device to iTunes and restore it from your backup. If the issue persists, then restore it one more time as new using the same article to isolate to the backup file itself.

I have an old ipod that i have not used in a very long time, ive had it on a charger now for over an hour and i still cnnot get my ipod to turn on, how can i fix my problem, i just downloaded the new version of itunes aswell, so i know its not my itunes.

i have an old ipod touch that i have not used in a very long time, and im having trouble gettign it to turn on. ive had it on a charger for over an hour now and still nothing hs changed. i just updated my itunes to the current version they haev so i know its not an itunes problem its rather a problem with the old ipod touch itself. im leaving for deployment soon and im trying to get this fixed without having to send it in. If anyone has any ideas on how to get this thing turned on it would be greatly appreciated.

Well, two thoughts.
The battery has completely discharged and will take overnight to recharge, so don't expect much in an hour.
The battery has deep discharged and is now dead. It will never recharge and should be replaced.

The first thing I would suggest is for you to go to the folder containing your catalog, using your system browser. There will be a folder that has the extension .lrdata. Delete that folder, and then try to start Lightroom. If that doesn't work, replace your catalog with your most recent backup.

Yes, I was using iTunes to sync over cable without problems since orinigal purchase in 2011 and using 10.6 w/o problem. There was an "update" in Nov 2012 that crashed the sync service. I went to the Apple Store and reviewed the problem with the Geniuses there. It was discovered at that time that the update included mandated use of iCloud but enough of the un-updated code remained that he was able to patch functions to allow Microsoft Office to still sync over iTunes.
This March (+/-) there was another "update" to 10.6 that totally destroyed the patch that was in place so there was no sync service available between Microsoft and iTunes what-so-ever. Then recently, because of some unknown process, all my notes, contacts, and calendars were erased in both my Apple utilities and Microsoft utilities.
After many hours of frustration I was able to recover most of the information to the Apple utilities only, but those were unstable. At my visit to the Apple store it was suggested that an upgrade to 10.8 might solve the stability problem. That it did but being connected to the iCloud all the time keeps using up all my Internet time and I have nothing left to check emails or do research.
This, to me, is not my problem but one created by Apple. I have searched the Internet and support groups and there doesn't seem to be a solution.
The "aircraft mode" turns off all other communication functions and is not acceptable. Neither is disconnecting/turning off Airport on my MBP.

I'm really upset with my iphone. I have it for four months and the wifi and 3G connections are really poor. The wifi is disconected all time near to the router and the 3G connection it's really poor. I was waiting 6.1.4 to see if the problem would be fix it but is the same. What can I do?

Try these steps. Check to see if your router has a firmware update. Go to the manufacturers website and check. If so, install. If not, reset the router. Disconnect from power for 30 seconds, plug it back in. Wait for it to boot up and then check your wifi.
Do a reset on the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, check wifi.
If none of this helps, then make an appointment at the Apple store to have the hardware checked. If it is found to have a hardware defect, they will more than likely replace the device. Remember the final call is Apple's.

I am now unable to use the phone at all - the slide bar won't move and I have a camera icon next to the slide bar which is not responsive. I have tried to sync and even left the phone connected to the pc overnight. The phone is going flat within a couple of hours and won't stop beeping every few seconds and seems to be syncing all the time, even when disconnected from pc. I am fearful that I have lost all my contacts - nothing is working - can anyone help - please?

Try resetting it if you can: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), then release. If you can't, try to connect it to iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your sync settings and click Restore to restore it. If that doesn't work you'll have to force it into recovery mode to restore it as outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.
You can check in iTune to see if you have a backup. They are listed in iTunes>Preferences>Devices. However, the backup may not bring your contacts back as contacts are only backed up as necessary to preserve the recent call and call favorites lists.

Thanks but that did not work. Details: when I don't have headphones plugged in, the volume won't go up or down and it also displays a circle with a line through it meaning it's not working. When I go to settings and look at my audio output, it only says headphones, even if no headphones are plugged in. I have tried inserting and removing headphones many times, also tried poking the inside of the headphone jack with a stripped Q-tip, and nothing works. Something inside the jack that senses headphones is not sensing the lack of headphones.
