Use FXO ports instead of BRI ports

Newbie to UC500 but experienced IP engineer: My model of UC500 has built-in BRI ports. I have purchased a VWIC2-2FXO card to use for the public switched network instead of the BRI ports. Cisco Configuration Assistant -> Configure -> Telephony -> Voice ->Device initially shows Built In: 4 FXS and Built In: 4 FXO. It then has a think about it and changes to Built In: 4 FXS and Built In: 2 BRI which is fine. However, it is only then that the panel below shows Public Switched Telephone Network and gives me the option of Basic Rate Interface BRI Switch Type. I can change this from the default Basic-NET3 to None but was hoping to see the FXO ports appear in the panel. Any assistance on FXO on VIC to be confogured for Public Switched Telephone Network would be appreciated. I have trawled various manuals but no joy so far.

to configure FXO
lets say u have fox port 0/0/1
and u want any call comes to this number to dial internal IP phon with number 1234
voice-port 0/0/1
connection plar-opx 1234
if u wanna forward this number to internal callmanger if u have internal callmanger u need voip dial peer like
dial-perr voice 91 voip
destination-pattren 1234
session target ipv4:[ccm ip]
UC500 like CME phones connect directly to it then no need for voip dial-peer
but u need dial peer as the followinf one
now if u wanna route calls to outside u can make the following dia-peer
dial-peer voice 9 pots
destination-pattren 9.T
port 0/0/1
the above dialpeer expect the user dial 9 folloowed by the pstn number the this dial peer will strip out the 9 and forward the rest of the dialed number
good luck

  • Live Feed MOH on CME using FxO Port - Distortion

We are implementing MOH on CME using a Live Source via an FxO port on a 3825 Router running 12.4(3b) - CME v3.3 The Live Source is clean, however, when it plays through the router, the quality is terrible (clipping, distortion, etc). The quality does not improve by adjusting the volume of the source and we have tried another FxO port on another WIC. We are using a Radio Design Labs Model ST-TC1 Telephone System Coupler as recommended.
We have also adjusted the impedence on the FxO port with no improvement.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

is QoS configured on the 3825? once the stream comes from the FXO it should be prioritized throughout the rest of the network that supports the IP phones. ie: routers & switches.
also you might want to make sure MOH is using multicast vs unicast; can help reduce network resource consumption
see the link below for more info:

  • Inbuilt COR list on UC540, 2Users to use 1FXO, 1 user to use another FXO port, how can it be tweak?

    Hello
    please, i have UC540 and i have 8 users on the system, below is my requirements;
i have (4) POTS lines connected to the FXO port of the UC540.
POT line 1--------------------------should be assigned and used only by user 1
POT line 2-------------------------should be assigned and used by 2 users
POT line 3 ------------------------should be assigned and used by 2 users
POT line 4 ------------------------should be assigned and used by conference phone (Polycom)
my config is attached and there is a built-in COR list on the UC540, i don't know how to go about this, please.
is there another way to achieve this using CCA?
please help on this as it urgent.
    Thanks

  • Cisco UC 520 FXO port, dual or single line?

I am needing to configure the FXO ports on a UC 520 to accept 2 numbers instead of just 1, is this possible?

timer media-inactive To enable the timer for media inactivity detection using the digital signal processor (DSP) (based on RTP as the only criterion) and to configure a multiplication factor based on the real-time control protocol (RTCP) timer interval, use the timer media-inactive command in gateway configuration mode. To reset to the default, use the no form of this command. timer media-inactive multiple no timer media-inactive multiple
When the timer media-inactive command is used, the gateway uses the inactivity timer as a combination of the timer media-inactive command and the ip rtcp report interval command. The timer media-inactive command uses DSP statistics. This capability is based on the configuration of callfeature parameters using application command-line interface (CLI) to enable control. The media are considered inactive only if there is no transfer of RTP packets in the send direction and no RTP packets in the receive direction. If RTP is present in either the send or receive direction, it is considered active. In this mode, DSP filters out any comfort noise packets, and the presence of any comfort noise packet is considered inactivity in either direction. The multiple argument (or multiplication factor) is multiplied by the interval that is set using the ip rtcp report interval command. This command configures the average interval between successive RTCP report transmissions for a given voice session. For example, if the value argument is set to 25,000 milliseconds, an RTCP report is sent every 25 seconds, on average. If no RTP packets are received during the calculated interval, the call is disconnected. The gateway signals the disconnect to the VoIP network and the time-division multiplexing (TDM) network so that upstream and downstream devices can clear their resources.

  • Problem in using serial port.

I am using serial port to get data from a fusion splicer. The number of bytes at the port is 4096 but the read buffer of VISA read is empty. I am reading the same number of bytes. Can any one tell me what is the maximum size of VISA Read buffer? I am trying to put the contents of the buffer in a file. I am using labVIEW 6.1 on linux.I am also attaching the VI.
I also noticed this problem...If I read the number of bytes in the serial buffer many times, sometimes it reads it as 0 and I have to keep trying until it reads this 4096 bytes.
    Thanx for any help.

    Hey Viji,
In your application it looks like you are just checking to see how many bytes are at the serial port. Is it possible that your application is check for the serial data at the port before the data actually gets there. If you are looping this code as a subVI or just running it over and over it is possible that one of the iterations could occur faster than your device can write the information to the bus. In this instance you are checking the number of bytes at the port and there might not be any there yet. In this case the port reads 0 as you have designed it.
If you want the read function to wait and always read 4096 then don't wire the bytes at port to the read function. Just wire a constant/control equal to 4096 to the read function instead o
f the bytes at port. In this case, if there are not any bytes at the port the read function will wait for the bytes to show up or until the timeout period is reached.
I would also, suggest lowering your time to something more reasonable, because if your instrument quits transmitting your application is going to wait for 33 minutes. That is a long time for a program to hang.
    I hope this helps out.

  • Issue with SPA525g registation and FXO port call calls are not disconnecting properly

    Hi,
I  have a UC540 and updated it to the latest IOS version with the latest  firmware to my phones and i am having registration problems with SPA525g  IP Phones. I updated the firmware of the phones as well and create  manual tftp bindings with but still it is not registering. I run a  couple of debugs (debug tftp events and debug ephone registration) I can  see from the logs and in the phone that it is taking the proper VLAN  and being discovered via CDP and being pointed to the TFTP server and  still wont register. I can see that it is also taking its own .cnf file  properly then the output sccp token regected invalid devices error is  shown I have a SPA502G and it is working fine. Also there is a previous  issue that all the voice port are shown as engage or offhook even the  calls are disconnected thus make the main PSTN number busy am based in  UAE and our service provider is etisalat I have check with them about  the proper disconnection values but still it the same. That's why I have  arrived in the conclusion to just update everything including the IOS  and the phones firmware. I have put my config in this post, I am also  trying to take the CCNA Voice exam on the 2nd week of april and I think  that if i don't know how fix this issue for our customer then I would  probably fail that exam. any suggestion and help is greatly appreciated  cisco experts.

Nicolo - First off this stuff gets crazy sometimes.  No worries about the exam.  Sometimes when FXO ports go crazy it is due to battery reversal.  If you go to the FXO port settings try turning battery reversal on and or off... depending on its current setting.  See if that helps.
As for the 525s not registering..  These are inside the network correct?  Are you connecting one directly to the UC500 with a Cat5E or Cat6 patch cable and the same thing happens?  Does the MAC address on the phone match a MAC address under the EPHONE settings?
If you telnet into the UC500 can you execute a "dir" command at the CLI prompt and "CD" (change directory) into the phones folder and then the spa525g folder?  Do files exist in there?
Also I only see an IP address under BVI100?  This is the voice side of things what happened to the IP address under BVI1 (Data VLAN).  Can you give us some information about the internal network?  Cna you PING this phone system from the network?  What IP address does it have?

I pull fiftyfour bytes of data from MicroProcessor's EEPROM using serial port. It works fine. I then send a request for 512 bytes and my "read" goes into loop condition, no bytes are delivered and system is lost

    Hello,
You mention that you send a string to the microprocessor that tells it how many bytes to send. Instead of requesting 512 bytes, try reading 10 times and only requesting about 50 bytes at a time.
If that doesnt help, try directly communicating with your microprocessor through HyperTerminal. If you are not on a Windows system, please let me know. Also, if you are using an NI serial board instead of your computers serial port, let me know.
In Windows XP, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, and select HyperTerminal.
Enter a name for the connection and click OK.
In the next pop-up dialog, choose the COM port you are using to communicate with your device and click OK.
    In the final pop
-up dialog, set the communication settings for communicating with your device.
Type the same commands you sent through LabVIEW and observe if you can receive the first 54 bytes you mention. Also observe if data is returned from your 512 byte request or if HyperTerminal just waits.
If you do not receive the 512 byte request through HyperTerminal, your microprocessor is unable to communicate with your computer at a low level. LabVIEW uses the same Windows DLLs as HyperTerminal for serial communication. Double check the instrument user manual for any additional information that may be necessary to communicate.
Please let me know the results from the above test in HyperTerminal. We can then proceed from there.

  • How to check UC560 FXO Port Not Problem Question

    Dear All,
We are newbie on Cisco UC560.
Our customer use Cisco UC560, ESW-520-24P and Cisco SPA 502G and 508G for their branch office replace old traditional PBX. Cisco UC560 have built-in VIC2-4FXO and VIC2-4FXS.
Our customer PSTN line connected to UC560 FXO port (1 line PSTN).
We receive report from our customer that they cannot make a call to PSTN and receive call from PSTN that connected to UC560 FXO port (on physical FXO port LED Green turn on).  When the problem happen our customer has restart UC560 or shutdown FXO port from CLI.
We have do some test to our customer UC560.
    - Moving PSTN line to another FXO port (example: port from 0/1/0 to 0/1/1). The result is same (cannot make call to PSTN and receive call from PSTN)
Today, We have checked on our customer UC560 via show voice port summary and found that port0/1/2 and 0/1/3 OPER status is up wihout cable connected to this port.
    Our question:
    - What command on UC560 to make sure FXO port on UC560 doesn't have problem?
    We attach:
    show tech-support voice
    show tech-support
We hope you can give us information about this.
    Thanks For Your Attention

    Hi There,
If you cannot find the Indonesian "Disconnect Supervision" you may get away with using Singapores "Disconnect Supervision" as your carrier networks are similar to each other
    Cheers,
    David Trad.

  • Incorrect Caller ID on calls from outside line via FXO port.

Have a public phone line connected to my CUCME 2801 router VIC2-2FXO card. All inbound calls are passed to DN-5001 (group number). Can receive and send calls without a problem, but incoming calls all show "911" for caller ID. Think this is simply an issue with the out bound dial-peer, of which the lowest numbered out bound dial-peer is for 911 services. Not sure how to correct this so inbound calls show the proper caller ID?
Below is a copy of my CUCME show run output from the FXO port config thru all the dial-peers. Any pointers is greatly appreciated.
        Thanks.

  • CME fxo port problem

    hi,
I have a 2801 CME and 2 fxo lines. Some times when both lines are seized (because of incoming and outgoing call) and after the phones are on hook the lines are still seized and are not released and when i removed the cables from fxo port, the led on each port start to blink in sequence and then when i reconnected, the port was busy again.. so i had to reboot the router to make it work. i changed the slot but dont think that it will cause any difference..do i need to upgrade the ios or some other issue..when i am calling the disconnect is fine but it happens some time when the line get stuck i have to reboot the router. one more thing when i changed the slot of the card the router didnt detected the change of slot and was showing fxo port on old slot. i rebooted the router to detect the fxo card on the right slot..sorry for the double post but no body was replying to i post it again..

  • CME - Sending outbound calls to FXO port

    Hi Guys,
Need your help for the below scenario.
Our customer has a CME where 4 FXO ports are already connected and working. Customer has added 2 more FXO port and few IP phones.
The requirement is when ever an outbound call is made from the newly configured IP phones, the call should go through the newly added FXO lines.
For eg ext 3001 , the outbound call should go through port 0/1/0
Already the prefix 9 is used for dialing the number and I guess only one prefix number can be used in CME.
I tried translation rule , cor list but none worked , the call is default going through the old fxo port and not to the new fxo port.
Can you guys help me with the configuration.
    Regards
    Sathya

  • Issue connecting SPA3102 FXO port to paging interface

    Hello,
I was referred to this community after a call to small business support, we were unable to come to a solution.
    SPA3102 v5.2.13 FW
    Viking Electronics PI-1 Paging Interface
We were told from Viking that the interface only supports an FXO port, all the connections were verified with their support and we're able to page by connecting an analog phone straight to the interface. Plugging into the FXS port on the SPA3102 also results in a dial tone playing over the paging system.
All settings on the SPA3102 are default minus SIP registration information, we see the unit as registered within the web interface as well as within our Asterisk CLI.
Trying to ring the extension results in constant ringing if voicemail is disabled, and straight to voicemail if enabled. Within the Asterisk CLI we see a SIP response 503 "Service Unavailable."
I can get the SPA3102 to respond by lowering the "Line In Use Voltage" down from its default value of 30. However all I hear is a hum and I'm not able to speak over the paging system.
Any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated, we believe it's just settings on the SPA3102 unit itself that need to be changed.
    Thanks!

Looking at the Viking Pl-1 web page installation instructions, I think the key setting on the SPA3102 would be to set the voip-to-pstn gateway dial plan to NONE.  The "hum" you get when you lower the Line-In-Use setting sounds like the dial tone you would get with the default dial plan setting.
    I would try the following:
    Viking Pl-1:
    Talk Battery Switch (PT): On
Audio In: Cabled to FXO port of SPA3102
    SPA3102:
Interface Analog Phone attached to SPA3102:
    Line 1 Tab
    Line Enable: YES
    Dial Plan: (S0<:@gw0>)
    PSTN Line Tab
    Line Enable: Yes
    VoIP-to-PSTN Gateway Enable: Yes
    One Stage Dialing: Yes
Line 1 VoIP Caller DP: NONE
    VoIP Answer Delay: 0
    Line In Use Voltage: xx
The Line In Use Voltage needs to be lower than the Talk Battery voltage supplied by the Viking Pl-1.  Usually it is set about half way between the on-hook and off-hook voltage level.  Measure the FXO (PSTN Line) on-hook voltage by reading it on the SPA3102 INFO Tab.  Set the Line In Use Voltage substantially below the on-hook talk voltage.
If you lift the phone with the above settings you should be connected to the paging system.
Interface to an asterisk pbx system:
    PSTN Line Tab
Setup Registration on PSTN Line Tab to Asterisk system.
    Register: Yes
    Proxy: xxx
    UserID: xxx
    Password: xxx
    VoIP-to-PSTN Gateway Enable: Yes
    VoIP Caller Auth Method: None
    One Stage Dialing: Yes
    VoIP Caller Default DP: NONE
    VoIP Answer Delay: 0
Line In Use Voltage: same comments as above
If you call the extension on the asterisk PBX you should be attached to the Viking unit.

  • Call disconnect on FXO port

    Hi All,
I have an issue with call disconnect on FXO port. Call are getting disconnected as soon as it connects.
I observed the call takes the port 0/20 which has the command supervisory disconnect anytone
but in other ports I see supervisory disconnect dualtone mid-call
so I have changed with the second and got it working for some calls, In the debug vpm singal debugs I see remote device releases the call.
Could you tell me how this works and what are the debugs we could check to see what is the exact problem?
    Number dialled are : 361000, 352788
Can you check? Logs and sh run is attached.
    Thanks,
    Lajith P

Beside that what you said Laith - I still think that you need specific tones for disconnect on FXO and only then your voice setup is going to work as it should. I can't comment on different version of IOS-es but maybe your previous one was better in handling this type of problem...if you don't have any specific requirement and must use 15.1 IOS you can always revert back to 15.0 and continue using your ports as already...
But if I was on your place - I would solve this problem once for all and then you don't have to worry about some upcoming new IOS

    Dragan

    Hi again Lan,
Strange issue occur, the voice ports seem to be ok, in on-hook status and incoming calls are fine, the strange issue is outgoing calls can`t be initiated despite the dial-peer are configured. this issue happens to me suddenly before changing any thing. As soon i dial the first digit after dialing 9, i receive a fast busy tone, like below as soon i dial 7 i receive a fast busy tone from an ip phone with no restriction...
    dial-peer voice 2002 pots
    trunkgroup 2
    corlist outgoing CDMA
    destination-pattern 977.......
    forward-digits 9
    voice-port 0/2/0

    timeouts call-disconnect 1
    timeouts wait-release 1
    connection plar opx immediate 4446
    impedance complex2
    caller-id enable
I restart the router, boot from another ios, remove and configure the dial-peers, shut and unshut the voice port, nothing solve the issue. it seems it doesn`t recognize outside digits,,, local calls are working fine..
Any ideas to solve the issue please...

  • Using Parallel Port with Outport.vi Problem

    Hello,
I am trying to use my parallel port to control a relay network and have run into a problem. I am using the outport instead of visa because for some reason I get an error with visa and outport seems more simple. The problem I am having is that my program doesn't seem to be able to initially take control of the port. What I mean by this is that if I restart the computer and open/run my program, I get an incorrect output on the parallel port. However, if I run one of the example programs for controlling the paralle port using outport (attached) (I believe the one I use is called Reading and writing to parallel port using loops) I am able to control the output to the parallel port. Also, after the example has run, my program works correctly. However, if I restart my computer again and run my program first it can no longer control the port correctly. So the problem seems to be that my program isn't initializing the port correctly or assessing it right at the beginning of the program. However, looking at the example program I don't really see what they are doing that I am not. I have the correct port address.
My program takes values from a text file and displays them on the port and that works correctly.

Hi Jag213, I'm glad you were able to resolve the issues you discussed on the other forum related to this issue.
Now that you have it working, I would recommend a few things:
    1. Just try modifying one of the existing examples and see what you can get away with removing in order to keep it working the first time.
    2. Try modifying the timing on your example - 10 seconds is a long time to wait between each week, I wonder if you are getting a time out? Do the examples work when you insert that kind of timing delay?
    3. Add the In Port.vi into your code - this may be related to getting your Out Port.vi to work correctly.
    4. Your code controls 8-bits on the parallel port, while the examples control 32-bits. Do all 32 bits need to be initalized? Looking at the Parellel Port Read and Write Loop.vi Example, in the IO Connector Status, the 31st bit controls whether the target is initialized.
Play with these settings and see if you can get yours to work the first. If all else fails, build your program to run off of one of the examples. For example, have the while loop run once, and then call yours as a SubVI.
    Good luck!
