Use hdblcmgui for system copy

I used to use SWPM/sapinst to migrate BW from row-based DB (e.g. MaxDB, Oracle, etc.) to Hana.
Now hdblcm and hdblcmgui are the exclusive tools to handle SAP hana install/upgrade/copy.
However in my preview on hdblcm and hdblcmgui , I cannot find DB export or DB import option.
I have searched Hana SPS08 documentation and failed to find any info about system copy using hdblcm or hdblcmgui.
There are 2 parameters for hdblcm to rename a Hana system, however it cannot keep the source system.  If we want to clone a Hana system, i.e. keep the source system while cloning it to a target system, what is the parameter?
Thanks if you can include some screenshots or links about this question.
Regards.

Hi,
You don't use hdblcm/hdblcmgui to perform system migration/system copy. You still need to use SWPM to export from source DB and import into HDB.
You use LCM tools (hdblcm/hdblcmgui) to install HDB, update HDB, rename HDB and for full usage, refer to the note below:

    Hi,
Before transport the objects, you must set the source system connections, we won't trasport source systems, but I need to tell to my system if I release and Transport the request then where it shoud go and which source system/target system like this , you can check in RSA1>Tools>Assignements of source system.
    I'm not getting

  • Transport for System Copy from RSA1 in BW 3.5

    Hi Guys,
I am not able to create transport for Source system objects for system copy in RSA1.
I have copied the production system(BWP) to sandbox(BWQ) and want to connect to same source system.
According to note 886102 when creating transport for Source system objects I am getting following error.
    You cannot use request BWQK900020

    BWQK900020
This is stand alone system but for transports I have created virtual system. Before creating virtual system I am able to create transports. But now after creating virtual systems I am not able to get pass above errors.
Any help would be appreciated also with points.

  • Error while running sapinst for system copy

    Hi all,
For system copy activity of our ECC 6 system, we ran sapinst to take data export but it is not getting started and giving error "Login in process error -
An attempt to write to socket 1684 failed; reason: This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."
Any idea how to fix this !!!!!!
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pavan I

    Hi,
Here is my opinion on this error, please try this out if you have downtime on your ECC system.
    1. Reboot your windows system and then try exporting your DB.
    2. Alternatively bring down your SAP system and DB and then try running the export and see whether it is moving fine.
Keep us posted with your feedback which will help to provide you with any other additional troubleshooting points.

  • Export for system copy fails - Error 9 (Bad file number)

    Hello all,
I am attempting to perform the export phase for a hetergenous system copy on our BI system (BI 7.0 - NW2004s).  This system runs on HP-UX 11.11 using Oracle  10.2.0.2 and will be migrated to Windows Server 2003 and MS SQL Server 2005, once the export is complete.
While running sapinst to export the data from the source system, there are several input dialog screens that are skipped, which means I am not able to enter all the paramters used for the export.  After seeing this behavior from sapinst, I reviewed the sapinst.log and sapinst_dev.log files and find the warning/error "System call failed. Error 9 (Bad file number)".  I have included a portion of these files below.
I have reviewed notes 546006 and 583861, but these seem to refer to an Oracle error ORA-27121, but I am not receiving any Oracle errors in sapinst.log or the Oracle alert log.  I have looked for possible permission or ownership problems with any of the SAP or Oracle files, but have not found any that were incorrect.  Also, these errors do not specify which file sapinst is having problems with, so I do not have  a specific file or area to check.
If anyone has seen something similar to this and has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate any help.

    Regards,
    Rusty Robbins

    Hello Peter,
Thanks for the reply. I did confirm the points you made, and have the details below.
    1. check filesystem, if you have enough space, especially /tmp
All filesystems have available space, and /tmp has 310 MB available, before the start of sapinst.
    2. check again alert log, trace log for Oracle,
I could not find any errors in the alert_SID.log or any unusual trace files.
    3. How did you run sapinst? Are you using "root" account.
I am running sapinst as user root and I am following all the recomendations in the system copy guide (at least as far as I can tell.  ;p )
We have four BI systems in this landscape, and the other three have migrated successfully.  The procedure I am using, is the same as for the other 3 systems and uses the same SAP media directory that was used on the other systems.
One other item that may be part of my problem here, is that this system is the production system, and was originally installed as a high-availability system, using HP-UX Service Guard for clustering.  Currently, this system does not have fail-over enabled, but of course the cluster is still intact.  One required piece of the Service Guard enviornment is the use of a virtual hostname.  This seems to resolve successfully by sapinst, as I see the correct (virtual) hostname referenced several times.  While this is a clustered system (for fail-over purposes), the CI and DB are installed on the same host.  So it is not a distributed system, and if failover had been initiated, it would fail both the CI and DB instance, which is the same and only SAP instance.
This did raise one question in my mind, however.  I am attempting to extract this using the following menu path within sapinst.
SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Support Release 3  --> Software Life-Cycle Options --> System Copy --> Oracle --> Source System Export --> Central System --> Based on AS ABAP and AS Java
Since this does use Service Guard, but is not a distributed system, should I be using a different path in the sapinst tree, for the export?  I have only performed a migration using the above path, so I am not familar with the detailf of the other types, such as High-Availabitly or Distributed-System.
    Regards,
    Rusty

    Hi,
Table split option is used for very large databases, you can use normal export/import method.
What is your database size ?
I had done UC for databases upto 1.5 TB, never used table split technique.
Keep it simple while doing complex tasks.

In the sapinst menu is a point for exporting the database.. that is what you are searching for.

  • Which master DVD for system copy ?

    Hi
If you have a Nw7.0 SR1 installation that has since been patched to be the same or higher level than SR2 - which master DVD should be used for a homegeneous system copy ? SR1 or SR2 ?
SR2 seems logical, but then you need also the DVD's (java etc) for SR2 which you normally wouldn't have around...

    Hi Per,
I will go ahead with the SR1 ones... when you do a Homogenoues System Copy you basically are installing a new system and then moving the database with all the patches from the source system.

  • Where-used list for system aliases?

Is there a way to get a list of all the iViews that reference a particular system alias (or better, a set of system aliases?). Possibly by querying the database?
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi Sean,
Yes there is a TRICKY way to do it with standard SAP Portal functionality.
But again this is tricky and you must keep sharp all the time.
    1. In the Portal goto: Content Administrator > Multiple Property Replacement
    2. Right click on the folder Portal Content (or one of its sub-folders); and select the action "Add folder to list"
    3. click next in the wizzard
    4. you should now be on step 2 of the wizzard and only select/check iViews
    5. Select the 2nd radio button "Search objects by property ID"
    6. in the field Property ID you must fill in "System" (without the quotes)
    7. in the field New Value you can fill in anything as it is not used, but you must fill in something, like TEMP
    8. click next in the wizzard
--- this takes a while as it queries all iViews for the property "System" ---
    9. this screen will show you a statistic overview, like a headcount, but you cannot use it for a 1-on-1 chek yet
    10. click next in the wizzard
    11. this screen will show two containers left and right where you can select object
--- DO NOT click next anymore from this point on ---
    12. with your mouse or ctrl-a select the contents of the right container and paste it into Excel.
Now you have a list of all iviews that have a system property and the value of that system property.
    13. Cancel/Abort the Wizzard!....

  • QCM tables delete for System copy

    HI,
I am doing a system copy sourse:
    SAP SR2 6.0
    OS: HP-UX 11.23
    Database: Oracle 10.2.0.2.0
    Target System:
    SAP SR3
OS: Red Hat Linux Ent. 5.4
    Database 10.2.0.4
In the system copy guide it is mentioned to clear QCM table before start sapinst in source system.
    The precautions mentioned are:
That the tables are consistent u2013 no restart log or conversion procedure termination must be displayed
That the data of the original table can be read
If application programs that use the affected original table do not run correctly, do not delete the QCM table yet.
and If i run SE14 and get the list of QCM tables it is as below:
    =======================================================
Temporary tables from conversion without restart log
      Object name
      QCMCE4REDN_ACCT
      QCMT77RCF_SRCH_
      QCMYREDG_WF001
    ======================================================
Please suggest me if I can remove these tables? What would be the impact?

    Dear Rajat ,
QCM Tables should be deleted before starting the migration ,
    check the following SAP note
9385 - What to do with QCM tables (conversion tables)
to delete QCM tables. call transaction SE14 and select 'Extras->Invalid temp. table' in the menu bar This displays all the QCM tables that can be deleted. You can highlight these and choose a pushbutton to delete them

  • System copy for ECC 6.0 system no j2ee process under MMC

    Dear support,
This has been observed in many of our clients system which are on ECC 6.0 abap+java system, that after we perform system copy from one system to another
whether it is Oracle platform or mssql server platform ( system copy for oracle using controlfile script ) ( system copy for mssql with restoring .BAK file from source )
systems are running fine but j2ee process table showing no processes like
    SDM, dispatcher , server0
even configtool and go.bat are unable to connect.
Is there any specific settings we do after system copy for java side
Please let me know at earliest, as it is most strange thing i have seen in almost all my system where system copy is performed.I have already raised a post against this error but at that time i was not aware of this system copy reason behind the same.
    Best regards,
    AjitR

Your main problem is not, that you don't see anything in MMC (the system can be added manually without much hazzle) - but is, that you database content of schema SAP<SID>DB does not match the data found on the filesystem.
If you copy the filesystem structure from production to test/qa, you need to make sure, the database and filesystem are in sync. You will have two problems if you "just copy them":
    - They are out of sync because your production was going on running since you copied the backup files
    - all configuration (all java property sheets) is/are set to point to the production system instead of the test/qa system
I doubt, that it will work if you copy it over. This also explains, why you can't even start configtool, because it points to the wrong system/schema. You MAY be able to fix all that manually, but you may encounter subsequent errors because not all configuration is documented, you would need to step into the whole j2ee tree and look at each and every propertysheet to find out, whether it's correct or not. Additionally, the database may have other information (see above) and all that may become overwritten during bootstrap.
So - the best way to get your system up and running quickly is to start sapinst on the source system, export your Java instance (not using ABAP but the Java dump) and re-importing that to your test/qa system.

  • Disc for Java System Copy?

    Hello,
Does anyone know which installation master disc to use for a java system (specifically portal 6.0) uses?  The documentation I have says to use the NW04 SR1 Installation Master disc.
I have this disc and have applied the installation control patches, the copy control patches, and ISERPACK7.
When I try to do the SDM export, I cannot do so because the path SAP NetWeaver '04 Support Release 1 -> Java System -> <DB> -> Central System -> Migration Database Export does not exist.  I get to the 'Central System' portion of the menu, but there's no option to export the DB.
I'm using disc: SAP NETWEAVER 04 SR1  - SAP Installation Master DVD (51031148).
I appreciate any insight as to where I might be going wrong.  Thank you.
    ~TJ

I appreciate everyone's help.  SAP Support came through with a solution for me:
    Hello TJ,
obviously, the control.xml file delivered with SAP CD/DVD 51032143_1 is
erroneous. However, for "system copy enterprise portal iseries", I foundthe SAP Note 977906, where following statement can be found:
Updating the Installation Master DVD (if required)
In the following cases you must update the "6.20/6.40 Installation
Master (Edition Sept. 2006)" DVD before starting SAPinst:
o you want to install a Java or Add-In system
o you want to do a Java export <-- !!!!!!
Since this is the situation you currently face, I would advise you to
follow the instructions from that SAP Note:
    1. Download the attached NW04_09.SAR archive.
    2. Extract NW04_09.SAR to the root directory of the copied "6.20/6.40
Installation Master (Edition Sept. 2006)" DVD using SAPCAR.
    3. Start SAPinst as described in the installation guide.
That is, you should remove the current installation directory
/usr/sap/SAPinst/NW04/COPY/EXPORT/JAVA/COPY/EXP , and restart the EP
    system copy from scratch.

  • Java WAS System Copy for non-SR1 Systems

    Hi,
I found the document describing the Java WAS system
    copy for NW 2004SR1.
However, has anybody successfully copied a Java
WAS system (Especially if the SID was
    changed) which was not SR1?
I understand how to copy the datafiles, recreate the
control files, adapt the default and instance
    profiles, etc..
However, I am not sure which other parameters,
XML files, or database entries need to be changed.
This is for a development system (I wouldn't do this
    for a production system).
Any information from somebody who succeeded to do
    this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    IF

    Hi,
for system copy of SCM 4.0 use the document system copy for webas 6.20
    https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700002645032002E/syscopy620_140803.pdf
perform DB copy as note 151603 :Copying an SQL Server database (homogeneous system copy)
apply sap note 551915 - R/3 won't start after database restore or database copy after DB copy.
if you want to perform livecache copy also
check Note 457425 - Homogenous liveCache copy using backup/restore
also consider Note 886103 - System Landscape Copy for SAP SCM
