Use iMovie on Dual Monitors?

I know that in iMovie '11, you can select advanced options and go to the Window menu and have the option of displaying the project monitor on a secondary display. But on iMovie '13, that's no longer an option. I've searched everywhere on how to do this and i can't seem to find it. Can anyone give me a hand?

I did find a workaround........ that works so far....... If I put FCPX into full screen mode.  Then my events dissapear!!!!  But if I toggle on and off the "Window/Show Events in a separate window" menu then the Events reappear and I can swipe between desktops and all the windows behave as they should.  That's a relief.  The old method doesn't work but at least this one does.  I hope this helps someone who is swiping like a mad man like I was.

  • Using Browser with dual monitors.

When I am using any browser with both my iMac as one Monitor and the Orion Tv as another monitor, and if for some reason the tv shuts off after a period of not being used. Then the browser used to revert back to my main monitor when I was using mavericks. But now when this happens my browser goes to the tv. And I have to turn it on everytime just so I can find the browser screen so I can use it. Or I have to hold down on the browser i'm using and force fully shut it down and then re-open a new window.  Anyone else having this issue? And if so have they fixed it....if so how?

i tried it and openbox dualhead support is very good. you can use the "monitor" config option to make apps switch on keystroke or start on a specific monitor.
dont know what good a screenshot would be as it looks the same as any other dual head setup

  • UICM Script Editor and Dual Monitors use

Has the issue regarding UICM Script Editor use on dual monitors been resolved for UICM v7.5 thru current release?
There was UICM script corruption issue in v7.5(x) when UICM Script Editor was moved over to the second screen of a dual screen system.  If the edited script was saved, it was corrupted.  The TAC response, at that time, was use of workstation dual monitors was not supported for v7.5(x).

CSCsq18107 was filed to update the documentation for this requirement. Customers were asked to raise a PER ( product enhancement request ) ticket for it but it seems no ticket was raised & I dont see this requirement closed in any of the versions released so far. This means, the dual-monitor is still not supported. Not sure if 9.0 comes with good news.

  • Dual Monitor display/firmware difference

I purchased a Pavilion 27xi monitor from the HP Shopping site in October 2014 and purchased an additional 27xi to be used in a dual monitor setup. I received the new monitor this week. The newer monitor does not match the color/white of my existing monitor. When I move a white rectangle so it displays on each monitor, on the new monitor it appears as greenish gray instead of the white of the older monitor. I have done the factory resets, switched display adapter outputs (NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT), tried one monitor at a time on either adapter output. All with no change in the behavior of the new monitor. The internal setup/control menus of the monitors differ in content and style/color.
Older monitor info:  manuf: April 2014, Rev: RIM111
New monitor info:   manuf: Dec 2014,  Rev: RIM232
I have talked with HP "support" and one person thought it was because of the revision level difference.
I want the display quality of the older monitor, Rev: RIM111.  If the monitor difference is because of the revision level, can the newer monitor be put at the RIM111 level. I tried to purchase a monitor with the RIM111 level and was told by HP Shopping that they do not have any at that level. I this a firm level that can be changed? If so how do I accomplish that?

I understand that the newest monitor you have connected to your desktop computer does not match the color/white of the existing display, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To ensure that your system is properly configured for dual monitor displays, I recommend following the steps in this document on Using Two or More Monitors with One Computer (Windows 8). If everything is setup accordingly, I recommend following the steps below for the newest monitor:
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it
Step 6. Try a different cable connecting your monitor to your computer
If the above steps did not resolve your issue you can try the monitor on a computer or other device to see if the issue persists. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • T61 worked with Dual Monitors and now it does not

I'm having trouble getting two monitors to work. They used to work fine. There have been no changes to hardware. Now the DVI monitor is blank. The DVI monitor does work with other computers (I'm working through a KVM switch).
    T61 running XP Pro
    Docking station
    Worked well in the past
Took laptop to a meeting and used VGA and Laptop displaying the same information (needed to fool around with a few things to get that to work (FN-F7, Presentation Director, not really sure what worked)
Came back to docking station and my second monitor does not work anymore.
    Control Panel
Shows two monitors (1 Bright, 2 Grayed)
Can select and choose extend on the second monitor (1 Bright, 2 Bright)
Apply reverts to (1 Bright and 2 Grayed)
    NVIDIA Control Panel\
Set up multiple displays show choice is Only use one display (Single)
    Second monitor choice is grayed
    Presentation Director
No option is shown for two monitors
    Laptop and monitor choices exist
    BIOS Display
Tried Internal and PCI options (no joy with either)
Display is set to VGA & DVI
    Any suggestions??

The docking station is a type 2504. I have both the VGA and the DVI port hooked up to identical flat screen monitors. I have no intention of messing with that because the setup is working successfully via a KVM switch. Both ports and both monitors are working. However, there is a problem with swithching modes with the Lenovo laptop. The problem does not exist with any other computer working through the KVM switch.
    Please note that:
this Laptop on this docking station, at my home, with all wiring and monitors unchanged, has worked for a long time.
I took the laptop off the docking station, went to a meeting, hooked up to a projector, and successfully configured the laptop such that the laptop screen and the projector were displaying the same screen at the meeting.
Then, I brought the laptop back to the same old docking station at my home and tried to regain use of my dual monitors unsuccessfully.
Using Control Panel display, and all sorts of combinations of NVIDIA Control Panel, the 2nd monitor would not be consistently detected by NVIDIA Control Panel. During these attempts, on a few occasions, I had an option to Set Up Multiple Displays in NVIDIA Control Panel; but there was no success in choosing this option. Returning to NVIDIA Control Panel / Displays would not present Set Up Multiple Displays as a valid option (not present or greyed - can't remember). I even went through permutations with the laptop screen open and closed, warm boots, cold boots, searchign for new hardware, etc. Nothing was successful.
Although changing the display within Windows Control Panel / Display was an option, any attempt to extend or replicate the dispay on the second monitor would fail and Windows Control Panel / Display would go back to the single monitor configuration was not successful and effectively ignored by both Windows Control Panel / Display and NVIDIA Control Panel.
You may note the use of past tense. I simply gave up and went to doing productive work on one monitor. After a few weeks, I went back to NVIDIA Control Panel and the second monitor was detected.  I was able to Display / Set-up Multiple Displays via NVIDIA Control Panel. Subseaquently, I was able to use Windows Control Panel Display to enable and configure the second monitor and both monitors started working again (without having made any changes to wiring etc).
I don't believe there is any difference in how I used NVIDIA Control Panel on this successful attempt than in any of the earlier failed attempts. There seems to be some sort of a problem with getting the Lenovo to recognize that the second monitor is really there. Please addess this part of the problem as I expect to repeat the process in an upcoming meeting with this laptop.
    Thank you for your attention.

  • Considering buying a Mac Mini but I need to know about support for dual monitors using DVI connectors.

I have a couple of DVI monitors and I'm looking to replace my Windows desktop with a Mac Mini.  I found an article that says it supports dual monitors with Thunderbolt, but I can't find any discussion of using it with existing monitor, or running multiple DVI displays off a single Thunderbolt port.
Has anyone done this?  If so, what's the best way to achieve it?

Yes, the Mac Mini has both an HDMI and Thunderbolt/MiniDisplay Port and supports dual displays in either Mirroring or Extended Desktop Mode.
It ships with an HDMI to DVI adapter that you can use for one DVI Display.
For the second DVI display you will need to buy a > Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and plug that into the Thunderbolt/MiniDisplay Port.

  • I have 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute?

I just bought a 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute any work at all?  I read where on a PC they would work together, but on a MAC they do not.
I read that Display Port has higher band width than DVI, NEC monitors for best performance they recommend using DIsplay Port.
When I was setting this up I looked at a Nvidia Quadro 4000, unfortunately it was for PC, it had 2 Display Ports, in the Mac version they reduce it to one.  I did not think there could be a difference.
Mainly want to use it for CS6 and LR4.
    How to proceed???
I do not want to use the Quadro 4000 for both, that would not optimize both monitors, one DP and 1 DVI.  Using just the 5770 would work but I do not think the 4000 would be doing anything, and the 5770 has been replaced by the 5870.more bandwidth.
Any ideas, I am a Mac newbie, have not ever tried a Mac Pro, just bought off ebay and now I have these problems.
As a last resort I could sell both and get a 5870.  That would work, I'm sure of that, it's just that I wanted the better graphics card.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    The Hatter,
I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can.  From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance.  The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs.  Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA.  I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000.  Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected?  I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are.  I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4.  Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

  • Is there a way to run dual monitors using a mini display port cable?

I want to connect my 21.5-inch, Mid 2010 iMac to my 13-inch, Mid 2010 MacBook Pro and run dual monitors with the cable because they don't have thunderbolt plugs. I wan't to use two displays for Logic Pro to expand my real estate. I'm not looking to spend over $50 on crazy adapters so cheaper options would be great.

  • HELP! I have a dual monitor setup and can't use any of them for video??

    1)I have a GeForce4 MX 64MB VRAM card installed.
    2) the back is dual monitor capable, meaning it has 2 vga (CRT) ports, one on the right and an another adapted plug with a vga port on the end. ( i have no idea which type it was originaly.)
    3) I have a big dell LCD
    THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED:
the adapter plug ripped off, reveal copper thread things and is now unusable. Although saddened, I was not worried because I don't use a dual monitor anyway and I switched to the other port. BUT THE VIDEO DOESNT WORK ON THAT PORT. I can't figure it out it just doesnt load any video?
the truth is i would rather have a dvi cable set up because i assume its better.
    thank you for the help,
    I need it

  • Dual monitor setup without using the ADC?

Would it be possible to run a dual monitor setup using a DVI splitter cable from my (2009)Mac Pro?
I've seen some old forums referring to the 2006 models saying that this wouldn't work and instead you'd get the same image on both screens but the newer Mac Pros state they have "Dual-Link DVI ports".
Just wondering whether this means what I think it means and you can connect two monitors via a dual link cable and get essentially, two monitors running independently as opposed to the same thing on both??
Hope it's staightforward and me just being slow.

The GT120 features one Dual Link DVI-I port and one Mini DisplayPort .
The DVI-I is Dual Link capable, and also can be directly adapted to VGA.
Single-Link DVI is a serial interface that carries three data bits in each signaling interval, as well as control signals. In general, Single-Link supports displays up to 1920 wide. Dual Link DVI is the same except that it carries six data bits in each signaling interval, supporting displays over 1920 wide.
DVI screen drawing is very similar to VGA screen drawing, and the data sent are digital "scan lines" left-to-right row data, top-to-bottom with entire screen data sent about every 60 Hertz. Analog VGA signals are sent at the same time on a separate set of pins.
DisplayPort and its Mini variant are inherently a packet interface, but can be coerced to produce a "Dual Mode" signal that approximates Single-Link DVI. Getting Dual-Link DVI or VGA from DisplayPort interface requires a non-trivial converter than contains chips and requires power.
    Executive Summary:
If you have one display that is wider than 1920 or VGA, attach to the DVI-I connector with an appropriate cable.
Running a Mini DisplayPort display from the Mini DisplayPort requires only a cable.
Single-Link DVI can be had from the Mini DisplayPort with a cheap adapter.
Dual-Link DVI or VGA requires an expensive Active Powered converter which can cost US$100.

  • T420 and dual monitors using eGPC?

    Hello all,
I just purchased my first ThinkPad, a T420 (4180 62U).  So far I really love this machine.
Unfortunately for me, I didn't realize that this model does not support dual external displays with the built-in graphics processor.
I was wondering if anyone has had success with using a external graphics card along with the dock so that they can have the dual external monitors and the laptop screen running.
If so, what hardware should I be looking at? I would welcome any advice or recommendations.
    Thanks
    Zim

    Thanks for the quick reply!
I haven't actually tried the dock yet.  I was going to order one, then I read that you had to have the Nvida Optimus graphics card to actually do a dual monitor + laptop screen set-up which my ThinkPad does not have.
It's my understanding that the intel graphics HD 3000 allows another monitor, it just doesn't support tow external monitors.
    Am I mistaken about this?
If so, then I'll be real happy, because using 3 screens will be a great help when using Cisco Packet Tracer simulator, reading instructions and taking notes.

If it won't turn on then the monitor is dead (power supply?, video circuits?).  Not worth repairing.
If you have a new iMac then it has thunderbolt.  So exactly what is that monitor you are trying to connect?  For TB you can connect a mini-displayport monitor.   Probably (not 100% sure with TB) can use dvi or vga too if you have the appropriate adapter.
