Use iPhone as the modem !!! HELP !!!

iPhone can provide your computer the Internet-connection by means of Bluetooth or USB. How it to make or by means of what appendix? Help to understand. In advance thanks.
P.S. I am in Russia and my operator of cellular communication allows to carry out such connection but as it make I I can not to understand!

You cannot. Tethering requires carrier support, and AT&T does not support tethering - that's why that option is not available on your iPhone.
Among the requirements: +"Confirmation from your carrier that Internet tethering is supported and is provisioned with your account."+

  • Using iPhone in the Secondary Classroom

    Hello everyone!
I bought my first iPhone a few months ago, and I haven't regretted it a single day. I knew that it would bring increased accessibility and connectivity to my personal life, but I had no idea how helpful it would be in my classroom. I'd like to share some of the ways I've been using my iPhone; hopefully someone might find my ideas helpful.
I am a high school English as a Second Language teacher in a public school in the Bronx, NY. This is my 4th year teaching. So far, I have been using the camera and the voice recorder the most in my classroom. I use the camera to take photographs of class notes that I or my students take. Then, I send them to my computer, print them, and arrange them as they were written originally, and finally distribute the notes to my students. If I put a little more time into it, I'm sure I could find an application that would help me arrange the photographs in a document so that I didn't have to cut and paste the prints. I love this because it allows my students to focus on the creation of the notes instead of just copying them into their notebooks. They carry the printed photographs in their binders and use them whenever they need.
I have been using the voice recorder in a few ways so far. The first thing I do is record listening passages for some of my students on the iPhone, and then I hook it up to speakers, and allow the students to listen and re-listen to the listening passage that way. (It's funny - it is actually a lot less work for me to record the passage once on my phone rather than reading it aloud multiple times, but the students find it thrilling that I "would do all this" for them!) The students take notes, create outlines from their notes, and write essays --- after I had taught them this strategy once, they were able to complete the entire process on their own while I did other work! (And I don't have angel students, either! Using technology in this way seems to help students feel like they have more power over and interest in their own learning.)
I also use the voice recorder to record myself reading books aloud. I have certain students who are either just learning to read in English, or who have severe reading or learning disabilities. These students really benefit from hearing a book read aloud as they follow along in the text. Before Winter Break, I recorded a book on tape for a student, and then sent the file to my email, downloaded it into iTunes, and recorded an AUDIO BOOK on CD!!!! (That was so cool!) I recorded instructions for my student on the CD and then burned him a copy, which I gave to him along with the book.
In the near future, I am going to use the voice recorder to record my students speaking and reading -- perhaps they'll make their own audio books, or read stories aloud, etc. I will also use it to record interviews and meetings with my students -- I can see replaying a CD of a taped meeting about a student's progress being a powerful way to remind students of the commitments they've made.
Basically, the iPhone has been the most powerful technology that I have brought into my classroom in my few years of teaching. Often, I find that using technology in the classroom is more trouble than it's worth - the products we have are old, nothing works when you need it to, kids aren't actually as tech savvy as everyone thinks they are, etc..... But the iPhone has really worked in new and interesting ways for me. I know I'm not finished figuring out its potential!
Does anyone have any other ideas?

First you need to do the steps provided here.
    http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/roaming/international-roaming.js p?WT.svl=calltoaction
Data roaming is off by default with the iPhone. Visual voicemail messages are downloaded to the iPhone via the cellular data network only and if data roaming is off, this should prevent visual voicemail from being downloaded to the iPhone - but you should confirm this with at&t. The amount of data involved with downloading visual voicemail is not significant. Downloading email (especially email with attachments), sending email, and downloading websites is significant for the amount of data roaming charges.
With data roaming off, you can access the internet via Wi-Fi with no data roaming charges.

  • When buying a "used" iphone, does the warranty transfer with it?

Say a friend buys the new iphone for 199 with his upgrade.
He can then sell it to me for whatever he chooses and I can then register this with ATT with no issues correct?
Will the warranty transfer from him to me?
With as many problems as these iphones have, and obvsiously they are using cheaper products to manufacture them, the warranty is what im really concerned about.
Has ATT offered any kind of insurance on the iPhone yet?

    PsychedelicWonders,
To my knowledge, AT&T does not offer insurance for the iPhone. You can however obtain insurance for the iPhone from other insurance companies, such as State Farm.
The warranty already attached to the iPhone travels with the iPhone, no matter who owns it currently.

  • Can i use iphone in the philippines?

waiting so long for the iphone to be released now that it is, im having doubt buying it. does exclusive to at&t means that the iphone cant be used using other network provider? cause i cant use at&t even if i want to, cause i live here in the philppines and we dont have at&t here. ^^ someone please tell me if i can/ i can't use iphone here in RP. Thanks!

cingular and at&t are the same company.
in short here's what you need to use it in the phillippines: a cingular/at&t wireless account and international roaming turned on. oh and about $3/min i believe (not including data costs).

  • Using iPhone in the Cayman islands and British Virgin Islands

Have US iPhone with US sim card with AT&T prepaid Gophone plan with roam facility.
Travelling abroad. Can I use it in the Cayman and British Virgin Islands?
    Many thanks in advance.

You will need to check and see if Gophone has international roaming. Regular ATT accounts can activate international roaming and the phone will work fine overseas.

  • I bought a used iphone and the previous owner forgot to delete their icloud account, so I cant add mine. Is there anything I can do?

I cant seem to get in contact with the previous owner.

You are experiencing Activation Lock.  If the previous owner will not remove the device from their account there is nothing you can do unless the place you purchased it from will give you a refund.
iCloud: Find My iPhone Activation Lock in iOS 7
What if I purchase a device that is still linked to the previous owner's account?
Contact the previous owner as soon as possible and ask them to erase the device and remove it from their account. For complete instructions, read how to remove a device from a previous owner's account.
How do I check for Activation Lock before purchasing a used device?
When purchasing an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from someone other than Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, it is up to you to ensure that the device has been erased and is no longer linked to the previous owner’s account.
Follow each of these steps to make sure that you can use the device you purchase:
Turn the device on and slide to unlock. If the passcode lock screen or the home screen appears, the device has not been erased. Ask the seller to completely erase the device by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been erased.
Begin the device setup process. After choosing a language, choosing a country, and connecting to a network, the device will begin activation. If you are asked for the previous owner’s Apple ID and password, the device is still linked to their account. Hand the device back to the seller and ask them to enter their password. If the previous owner is not present, they can remove the device from their account by signing in to
    icloud.com/find
. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been removed from the previous owner’s account.
You will know that a device is ready for you to use when you are asked to “Set up your iPhone", “Set up your iPad", or “Set up your iPod” during the device setup process.

  • 2011 MacBook Pro experiencing Kernel Panics when using iPhone 4 as modem

Recently purchased a custom MacBook Pro 15" with the upgraded 2.3 ghz quad core i7 processor. I immediately installed 8 GB of Ram and a 750GB 7200 speed HD from OWC when the unit arrived. All was well when testing from home, and had zero issues after using the Mac assistant to pull apps and user data from my old MBP, which I then sold on ebay.
Brought my new MBP to work, where I use my iPhone 4 (not jailbroken) to data share, using the personal hotspot. I connect the iPhone 4 to the MBP via USB, to keep the battery on the iPhone 4 charged.
While at work, I almost immediately started getting chain Kernel Panics on the new MBP. After hard powering down and restarting, the Kernel Panics would return at unpredictable intervals, sometimes an hour or more, sometimes within seconds of booting. I immediately suspected the RAM from OWC, as bad ram is the leading cause of Kernel Panics, according to a quick google search. So here is what I did in order, although keep in mind that this took place over a period of weeks, where I would intermittently go days w/out a Kernel Panic, and I was going crazy trying to figure this out.
    1. Took apart machine and re-seated OWC Ram-did not fix
    2. Attempted to confirm OWC RAM was bad before sending back to OWC, moved to step 3
    3. Put Apple Hardware Test DVD in and let it run the extended hardware test in loop mode over a weekend (72 hours), with no report of any hardware failure
    4. Some reports on the internet seemed to indicate the Apple Hardware test was not always reliable in discovering bad ram, so I purchased memtest, which I then looped and ran for 12 hours to test ram, with no report of failure.
    5. Performed clean install of OS X 10.6 from Apple DVD, to include wiping the drive-Kernel Panics remained.
    6. Removed OWC ram and installed Apple original Ram-Kernel Panics remained
    7. Realized that at home I was on WiFi, and was not getting Kernel Panics (at least none that I could remember over the course of 2 weeks)
    8. Tested w/ iPhone 4 connected via USB as personal Hot Spot, and Kernel Panics occurred regularly.
    9. Tested w/ iPhone 4 connected via WiFi as personal Hot Spot, and Kernel Panics have not returned (running 6 hours so far w/out Kernel Panic)
At the beginning I had a Kensington Turbo Mouse connected as well, but over time I unplugged it to remove it from my troubleshooting list. At this point I must conclude that when using the iPhone 4 to data share over USB is the cause of my Kernel Panics.
All of the above was the long winded version of, my iPhone 4 is crashing my Mac. I just wanted interested parties to know what I've done already before suggestions are made.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Anyone using their iPhone 4 to data share and connecting via USB w/out experiencing Kernel Panics? Anyone have any thoughts/ideas as to why this would occur?
FWIW, I've tried more than one USB cable to connect the iPhone to my MBP, and experienced Kernel Panics w/ both cables. I also fully restored my iPhone 4 when the recent 4.3 iOS update was released, so I don't think it's a software issue w/ the iPhone. I do not have a second iPhone 4 to test with, I also do not have a second Mac to test with.
Thanks up front for your thoughts and/or assistance.
    Bill

    Hi everyone !
I'm new on this forum (and French btw, so I apologize in advance for any mistake (: )
I've bought the brand new MBP 13' few weeks ago, and I kept having this problem until now, I just installed K64 Enabler, and it seems to work perfectly, so I wanted you all to know it
Thanks for all the help you brought me !
Hope Apple will fix this once for all !
    See you !

  • How to use iPhone as a modem for MBP

    bonjour all,
after looking up information about how to use my iPhone 3G as a modem to my late 2008 MPB i found a APP called NetShare that was removed by Apple for reasons unknown yet, and i was hoping that with a little luck there might be an alternative.
if you have any information please pass it on,
    Cheers,
    Sean

I'm from the US, and there has been no alternative because Apple doesn't want people to be able to tether on the iPhone just yet. Apparently they will be releasing tethering to iPhone users here soon, but Apple took Netshare down because of that fact.
Now I don't know if there is anything else available in Paris, but you might want to contact Apple or your cell carrier and ask them, they would have a better idea about it.

  • Using iphone as a modem for your home PC

I currently have a motorola slvr that I use as a modem on my home computer by connecting with the usb cable. It's the only way I can get internet at home right now.
Has anyone tried this with the iphone? I want to buy one in the next few weeks, but this may sway my decision.
    Thanks!!

This is not an option for the iphone at this point.

  • Using iphone as Broadband modem

does anyone know whether it's possible to configure the iphone to act as a broadband modem for Laptop computer to connect to the internet ?
    cheers

It is generally possible to enable or include Bluetooth profiles, such as the DUN [Dial Up Networking] profile required to connect a computer to the internet via Bluetooth by applying an approved firmware updater, but…
…as a practical matter, this just is not going to happen. at&t has no interest in promoting this concept, particularly at the comparatively 'discounted' data plan rates associated with the iPhone.
If DUN connections are really important to you, and you don't want to use a separate data card designed specifically for this purpose, take an inexpensive at&t supplied or unlocked GSM mobile handset capable of performing in this manner along with you, slip the SIM out of the iPhone and into your 'data modem handset' for the duration of your connection session. Be sure to watch how frequently you do this and for what duration, as 'unlimited' data is not really unlimited, with at&t data plans. There is no better explanation of this issue than that offered by the terms and conditions of your data plan…

  • Yosemite iMac can start calls using iPhone, but the call doesn't move to the mac and stays on iPhone

    Hey,
I've got a mid 2011 iMac, and I used it as part of the Yosemite beta program. During this, I was able to make and receive calls as part of the continuity feature perfectly.
After initially swapping to the release version, the iMac wouldn't make/take calls from the phone at all. I rectified that by signing out and back in to iCloud through facetime on both the iMac and iPhone 6 on iOS 8.1.
Now, the option to make/take a calls shows up on the iMac through facetime/contacts and the waveform appears from the notification centre, however all the audio comes from the iPhone as if it's been answered from the iPhone, there is no sound at all from the iMac.
Does any one have any solutions to this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

From King_Penguin in response to an earlier query on this topic:
You should be able to copy it over by connecting your phone to your computer's iTunes and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases - it should copy over to the Books part of your library

  • Can I use iPhone as a modem?

Hey everyone. Just picked one up. I was wondering if it was possible to use the iPhone to connect to the Internet when no Wi-Fi is available. Many times I can't find a wi-fi hotspot close by, and I really do not wish to go out and by either ATT's edge card or something like the card from Sprint that will let your computer connect over the Edge network (or similar).
iPhone has Edge already so it would be nice if I could use that Edge connectivity to connect out.
Make sense? Has anyone done something similar?
    Thanks!
    /ahuffer/

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You cannot use your iPhone to connect a device like a portable computer to the internet because the required Bluetooth DUN—or dial-up networking—profile is not embedded in or installable on the iPhone.
That shortcoming is a substantial part of the reason that I remain with T-Mobile and use an inexpensive Nokia mobile handset to access the internet when a terrestrial or wireless ethernet connection is not available, such as when I am traveling on an Amtrak train.
