Use iTunes songs w/ Windows Movie Maker?

Is there anyway to make it so i can use my iTunes songs with my windows movie maker? I have some songs on there i want to use for background music. If there is anyway please tell me.
Thanks,
~Jordon~

*I paid for the song and should be able to do whatever I want with it.*
They protect it because it is not yours to do with whatever you want, just as a CD is not yours to do with whatever you want.
A copyright allows you to do certain things but it also does not allow you to do certain things such as selling it or relabel it and call it yours.

  • Using songs with Windows Movie Maker

How do you use purchased songs in Windows Movie Maker? Please help.

One caveat to the above posts: if any tracks you've purchased, or intend to purchase, are/were iTunes Plus, those do not have copy protection and so can be converted to MP3 which, I presume, Movie Maker can handle.
Note that tracks purchased from the iTunes Store are for your own personal use. You cannot create a movie with them and then give that movie to others, post it on a web site, etc. Similar restrictions are in place on all download music stores.

  • How to import itune file to windows movie maker

When I try to import an itune file to windows movie maker the error message says a necessary codec file is missing...how can i perform this import?

Find where on the computer the song files are.  Then go into iTunes, use the command File > Add Folder to LIbrary, and navigate it to the folder(s) that contain the songs.
If the files are in MP3 format, they will be added to iTunes immediately.  If they are in unprotected WMA format, iTunes will convert them (one at a time) and add theconverted copy to the iTunes Library, leaving the original in place.

Okay thanks but what about if I'm trying to do a music lyric video is that illegal or legal?
    Princess of Music,
If you obtained the music from a CD or an online download store, then you may use it for personal non-commercial purposes.
If you are using the music (or the movie that uses the music) for other purposes, you must obtain proper licensing.

  • Importing Songs to Windows Movie Maker

I am trying to use some of my iTunes songs on a photo dvd/movie I'm making for a friend in Windows Movie Maker. I have tried burning an audio cd, a data cd, and an mp3 cd. iTunes will not let me burn the mp3 cd, and Windows Movie Maker "doesn't support" the other formats.
Any ideas on how I can get my songs onto my photo cd?

  • Importing song to windows movie maker

I am unable to import a purchased song into my windows movie maker.  Purchased many songs before. This is the first song that wouldn't download.  Please help.  Thx

Your downloaded music is in Apple's AAC(m4a) format and Windows Movie Maker does not accept this format.  You can convert it to mp3 in iTunes.
Itunes menu, EDIT/PREFERENCES, GENERAL tab.  Go in IMPORT SETTINGS, under IMPORT USING, you have various Encoder, AAC. AIFF, APPLE LOSSLESS, MP3 and WAV.  Select MP3 encoder, then OK and OK.
Right mouse click the song(s) in music library will give you a Menu which includes CREATE MP3 version.

Although the question is about a cell phone, the answer is applicable to your situation as well.

  • I want to use finished animations in Windows Movie Maker

I use Flash cs6 and I have finished my first animation and want to finish the whole video on Windows Media Player.
    - I have tried Publishing it in different files. Non are accepted in the program.
    - I have tried Exporting it in different files. Still non are accepted in the program.
    - And I have tried using video converters (so far they were pretty rubbish). The files aren't accepted by the converters.
Please help, I wanted to finish this all before a week ago :/

what do you mean by, "...finish the whole video in windows media player"?
win media player only plays certain video file types (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/file-types-supported-media-center#1TC=windows-7) and flash can only export certain video file types, but i don't think you can do any editing in win media player.
if you mean win movie maker (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker-file-types-faq) like your title suggests, mov files are supported by both (win movie maker and flash) though you will probably need quicktime installed on your win system to use it.

  • Adding iPod Songs to Windows Movie Maker

I want to add songs I have in my iPod for a video i'm making, but when I go to...
My Documents << My Music << iTunes << iTunes Music
And click on any artist and their song, the song is like in a m4p format. How do I fix it?

This has been covered here a number of times already, but once again:
Tracks purchased from any legal download store carrying major-label content, including the iTunes Store, are copy-protected and so cannot be directly converted to any other format. You can, however, burn the tracks purchased from the iTunes Store out to an audio CD, at which point it will act just like any other normal audio CD.

  • Windows movie maker codec error message

When I try to import downloaded itune songs into windows movie maker, to insert into "movie" I get an error message something like "proper codec not downloaded for selected song" Any help appreciated. [email protected]

You need to install an AAC codec or use iTunes to convert the songs to MP3. If those songs contain DRM, neither method will work.

Sorry purchased content is only playable in iTunes and cannot be used with other programs. You are allowed to burn purchased content onto an audio CD, but thats about it.

I am trying to use songs I purchased from iTunes, from my library if you will, in my video (slideshow) using Windows Movie Maker.
Does anyone know if that is possible to do?   If so, would you please tell me how to do that?

    Hello, a1p2r3.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There are a couple options available to you to transfer purchased media to your computer.  Below, I have included a couple articles that outline this process.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848
Please note that this feature works only for items that were purchased on the iTunes Store. Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your iPod to the iTunes library.

  • Import songs from iTunes into  Windows Movie Maker

I have found it difficult to use my songs in any other application. I'm creating videos using Windows Movie Maker (Vista) and when I go to import the songs aren't showing up in the iTunes Music folder. I also downloaded the files into an external drive. When I opened the external drive separate the songs were there. When I was in Windows Movie Maker and went to import the files weren't there. Any suggestions on how to use songs from iTunes. I feel as though I've purchased them and can't use them anywhere else other than on my iPod and computer.

If they are protected files, that's correct. You can only use them on iPods, authorized computers and Apple TVs.
