Use Iweb with different host?

I am considering purchasing Ilife 2006, because of the iweb feature. Could anyone tell me if it is at all possible to create an iweb site and upload it to a different host and not i.mac?

It is no problem!
I have put two sites up on non .mac accounts. You simply publish to folder and then ftp the files to your web hosting account. Note: When you publish to a folder it will ask you the url of your website to adjust the RSS and Podcast subscribe links.
HOT TIP: It appears that if you try to manage two websites from iWeb, it will create a problem since each time it publishes to a folder, it will adjust the subscribe links which would break them for the site you aren't publishing.
So if you want to work on multiple sites ... I have discovered the secret work-around! When you want to create another site ... create a new user account and launch iWeb from there. This will allow you to create and update a new website without any problems.

Today, I've officially had it with MobileMe as a web hosting service. Love the sync with my iPhone, but the web hosting has broken my back. But I love iWeb for designing my pages.
Can I use iWeb to design pages that I then post to other hosting sites?

iWeb '09 has three publishing options - MobileMe, built in FTP and to a local folder.
The last method is preferable as it allows you to add tags for search engine optimizing and also to optimize your files for faster download before uploading to your server via a reliable FTP application.
MobileMe is slow, unreliable and has no tech support. It is very limited and doesn't allow you to run scripts or have web email, redirects, form mail etc.

Using iWeb with a hosting service besides .mac?

Hello, I have not yet upgraded to iLife 08, but am deciding whether it is worth it. My question is, is it possible to host your iWeb website on something besides a .mac account (I do not have one). Or is it necessary that you pay the $99 a year to publish your websites? Any suggestions for other sites besides .mac if it is possible? Thanks!

Just registered with a domain and hosting with hostmonster.com, a bit easier to use than Godaddy.com, great customer support, 24/7 friendly voices in Utah, haha. Ridiculous amount of bandwidth and storage space, plus features. You have to switch the CNAME prefs over the phone or submit a support ticket from your control panel (webpage where you control your account), done real quick.
Don't forget that there is also CyberDuck, which is a really good FREE FTP app. I use this more than Transmit or Fetch, although I also like Transmit a lot.

In iChat 4 you can have more than one AIM Valid name logged in at once.
AIM valid = AIM, @mac.com or a MobileMe name.
What you are then stuck with is that iChat is linked to one Buddy Picture and The one Mac User Account's Address Book which may or may not have Full Names, emails details, or a Nickname in iChat 4 linked to the Screen Names.
Whilst it does let you both log in whilst using one Mac User Account there are drawbacks about who uses the keyboard and reading meesages from the other persons Buddies.

Possibly because dropbox is not really a proper webhost - it might be better if you went and signed up for proper web hosting from somewhere like http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.hostexcellence.com.
Have you told Google that you site exists? If not, then you need to do so - http://www.google.com/addurl.

You need another app (specifically, an FTP client). iWeb can only publish directly to .mac or a folder on your computer. There are various FTP programs, but I'm really partial to Transmit 'cause it's really easy and kicks you-know-what.

Using scripts with different versions of AppleScript

Hi,
I have a script that works perfectly in my Apple Script Editor v2.4.3 and Language AppleScript 2.2.1 I've given that script to a friend of mine with AppleScript Editor 2.7 and Apple Script Language 2.4
The script does not work properly in their AppleScript Editor, does anyone know why this might be and/or how to remedy it? Is there a way for them to download Language 2.2.1 to use or is there a way to figure out how I need to update my code to work for the 2.4 language.

Whilst scripts using certain features of the latest version of AppleScript language won't even complile on previous versions, scripts written for previous versions should usually work in later versions with some exceptions.

If I upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion or later versions - what wil happen - can I still use my iWeb.

But the app was discontinued years ago.

Re-using SSLSession with different SSLSockets

I saw this question asked multiple times in the past but I have never seen the answer. Does anybody how to re-use SSLSession when creating multiple SSLSockets?

Based on my testing SUN's SSL implementation creates and reuses SSL session automatically.
You need to use one socket factory to create all your sockets.
You execute handshake only on the first socket. Handshaking creates the session.
The other sockets will not need hadshaking assuming you will use the same socket factory.
All the sockets created in this manner will reuse the same session.
You can close all the sockets and the SSL Session is still kept alive.
To prove my point I have modified sample Client that is bundled with JSSE package.
Running Client produces the results:

As you can see from the results there are two different sockets reusing the

can any one give me advice I am on a trial.mac account which I have not even had time to look at what it offers but my account runs out in 26 days and I just finished my web site I made with Iweb I want to buy a domain for my site now
and not sure if I should just stay with .mac or get another host?
Also if I don't stay with .mac who do recommend for hosting?
Or who do you recommend for domain purchases?

Using iWeb with MobileMe family pack

I just upgraded to the family pack for mobile me. I had been using it for my homepage, but now I'd like to make a homepage for my son, and my wife wants to make a homepage as well.
How is this handled in iWeb? I don't see a way to tell it where to publish which site when I add a new site.
What is the easiest way to handle multiple mobile me websites on one mac?

Not having used the sharing option since there's only one user on my Mac, I don't know the ins and outs of what you want to do. Terence Develin might. If you want to share the library with all users and have them be able to access the library, import new file and perform edits then the best solution is to put the library on an external HD whose ownership has been set to off. This Apple document explains the process: iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users.
The drive can also be used to backup other files as well.

hi, i recently purchased a domain from google (enom) and i want to upload a website that i created with iweb. However, i don't want to use a mobile me(or .mac) account to forward it. i know there is ftp involved and although other forums have explained it, they didnt go in depth enough for me to understand how to do it. a guide to doing this or some kind of explanation would be extremely helpful. thank you

Trouble recently using iWeb with Leopard 10.6.8?

I have a iMac (early 2007) Dual Core Intel Based, and have been using iMac for a couple of years just fine.
Recently (a few months ago) I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and since then my computer freezes etc...
I've been getting the dreaded Grey Screen with the Apple Logo and churning gear at startup and the computer won't get passed that point.
I've tried booting from my Snow Leopard Disk and have run Disk Utility and Repair, and I have no errors.
What's odd is that if I try to open iWeb now and start using it for more then a couple of minutes the computer gets the dreaded spinning rainbow and freezes up, forcing me to shut down often.
Now, I am only able to start my computer early in the morning after it has been turned off at night.
Any Reccomendations?

I heard of reports that there may be a 10.6.9 to use iCloud in SL. Don't know if it will happen, but we'll see. You still have the option to use the iCloud website for your MobileMe account in the future.

Can one ODI procedure be used twice with different option in one package?

I have a procedure with three check box type options. This procedure is used twice in a package. I tried to set options differently in the package, but once I set up the options for the second call, the first one will be updated to the same as the second one automatically. Is the option supposed be used as parameter? If it is true, why I cannot call procedure twice by using two different parameter settings?

Create two scenarios of the same procedure. While generating scenarios change the options as necessary. Then in the package call the scenarios instead of the procedure. That should work.
