Use keyboard for context menu??

Hi,
I'm not sure if I'm using the correct terminology or not -- but here's my question (aided with a screenshot).
Obviously, in that screenshot, I can't press "return" on the keyboard to Log Out. Is there a way to use my keyboard to select "Cancel"?? I know escape will actually cancel it, but this is a general question about the functionality not just this specific screen.
Any help is appreciated -- this has been a pet peeve of mine for years!

Functionality like this has to be built in by developers, so although most apps will do plenty of stuff via the keyboard, not all will. In dialog boxes (like your screenshot is), Standard are Escape (cancel), Return (default button) and Space (glowing button, changed via Tab), but hitting the first letter of the button label is generally a good bet.

The 'Search Google for' context menu is opening search results in a foreground tab, instead of a background tab. This started today when I upgraded to FF 13beta

I just upgraded to Firefox 13 beta. Previously when I use the 'Search Google for' context menu - (the menu item is shown when you select any text on a page and right click on it) - the search results page would open in a background tab. Now after the upgrade, seach results page is opening in the foreground. Really annoying :(
I'm using Firefox on Ubuntu 11.04

I see this change as well if I use the right-click context menu on Linux, so I can confirm what you see. 
I don't know why this was changed and how to undo this new behavior.

Keyboard shortcut for context menu

Hello all. I recently got a MacBook and it's the first Mac I've ever had. I'm a keyboard shortcut guy when I can be and one thing that's stumped me is using the keyboard to open up the context menu.
Does anybody know a keyboard shortcut for opening the context menu (ie Ctrl + mouse Click)?
If there isn't one, I would be happy to add a custom keyboard shortcut for it in the System Preferences. I've tried to do so but I'm doing something wrong because it isn't working. Here's what I've tried specifically:
1. For "All Applications" add Ctrl+Space for the Menu Title "Show Context Menu"
2. For "All Applications" add Ctrl+Space for the Menu Title "Open Context Menu"
Does anybody know the exact Menu Title for the context menu?

The Keyboard Shortcuts are for menu items, not macro creation. What you want to do requires a third-party utility for programming keyboard macros such as iKey, QuickSilver, etc. You'll find these at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

Virtual keyboard's context-menu: can users add items to it?

iPad's virtual keyboard has a context-menu: when you hold a finger down on the -a- key of the English keyboard, for example, a context-menu appears showing various accented/combining forms of the character -a- from which you can choose. Is there a way for users to add items to this context-menu? Could one add [ð] [u00F0, 'Latin eth'] to the [d] key's context-menu and [þ] [u00FE, 'Latin thorn'] to the [t] key's context-menu?

Unless there is a keyboard language that already supports those characters, then no. You cannot add additional options to the built-in keyboard. There are apps that extend the keyboard, one in particular is the Wolfram Alpha app. While I don't know if it supports the characters you are looking for, it does have an extensive variable based keyboard for input in addition to the system keyboard.

Web report - Right click for context menu

I believe SAP switched the way (left mouse button to right one) to get web report context menu as of BW 3.5. I am looking for the official documentation for it. I could not find it in online help

I'm using Firefox 4.0.1 on Ubuntu 9.10 32 bit. Every time I can reproduce this bug, I'm able to revert it by killing the Adoble Flash process:
Example:

Error when using the report context menu option Goto - Documents

Hi gurus,
I'm doing some report tests via Analyzer and when a try to use de context menu option "Goto -> Documents" and try to create a new document, the following errors occur:
"CANNOT GET THE FOLDER FOR ASSIGNMENT"
"ERROR WHILE LAUNCHING NEW DOCUMENT DIALOG"
I'm using the nw2004s version. Could someone help me out?

We are also having the same problem with 2004s SP9 and SP10.
1. All the 0TCA* are active.
2. Super admin role is assigned.
But still getting the above three errors. Somebody who have overcome this problem please share the corresponding changes to be made in KM Configuration

SPList.RenderAsHtml() failing to for context menu..

Hi, In SP 2007 i have been using SPList.RenderAsHtml() in my custom webpart to display a document library from the Parent webSite. User can pick any document library from a drop-down and accordingly this webpart will display appropriate doc library.
Now i am trying to do the same thing in SP 2010, it displays the document library fine but the context menu is failing .
Any idea what am i missing?

I experienced similiar things with SharePoint 2013: some of standard ECB menu item such as "View Properties", "Edit Properties" are rendered fine, but others such as "Manage DataSources", as well as my custom actions, are not
rendered.
If i create a custom web part page, add the list view web part onto the page, the ECB menu item works fine on this list view.
I found that the difference with a list view web part on web part page and SPList.RenderAsHtml is that when you put a list view onto web part page, SharePoint will create a hidden SPView for the list and page url. And i found that when i click open the ECB
dropdown menu, an AJAX call is sent, which will use the current page url to find the hidden SPView.
But with SPList.RenderAsHtml call, most probably, you won't have this hidden SPView in place.
So, i used the following work around: on the same page where you need to call SPList.RenderAsHtml, place a List View Web Part of the same list, so that a hidden view will be in place for the list and page url. And i found that i need to set the list view
web part to Server Rendering (the default is client rendering in SharePoint 2013). And i can set the list view web part to hidden.
By the way, i realized that my workaround does not work for original poster's senario, since i don't know how he can add list view web part of a list from a different site onto page.
Update: my workaround works sometimes, but the it is not stable. Here is some explanation about the hidden view:

Delete datagridview row using right click context menu does not behave like the delete key

I have a datagridview with editing enabled. If I click the row header and press the delete key, the row is removed no questions asked. I don't recall doing any coding to make this happen but I couldn't do copy and paste using keys so I created a context
menu with copy, paste, & delete. The delete option calls
dgvVX130.Rows.RemoveAt(dgvVX130.SelectedRows[0].Index);
The row is removed but the problem is this fires other events like RowValidating which fails. I presume because the row is no longer there.
The delete keypress is definitely a lot cleaner so my question is 3fold.
1) Why doesn't Rows.RemoveAt behave like the delete key?
2) Is it possible to issue a delete keypress to do the same thing?
3) Is it possible to suppress the RowValidating event or other events when Rows.RemoveAt is fired?

Interesting. My delete key does not fire the row validating event. When I use the delete key I click on the row header which does fire the row validating event and then I press the delete key. Row is deleted and no event fires. Works
just the way I want it to. I wish my context menu delete worked that way. I wouldn't know what chunk of code I can provide to show the Row Validating NOT firing when delete key is pressed but here is the context menu code that does fire Row Validating.

Features for context menu

If possible add to context menu "Clear folder". When in folders have many many letters and i have many many folders, then very simple to delete all letters in folder in "one click". This for Thunderbird.

You want a recursive delete of non-empty folders? Really??

What is the name of the font used by the context menu ?

I would need this in order to know what Unicode character range is mapped by this font.

Flash uses the system default font to show context menu . Foe windows 7 i think it should be Sans_Serif.

Is there a way to access all the items in the tools section without seeing all the options? That is to say can one use keyboard for functions? My tools menu doesn't scroll down, only goes from left to right for one page and no more options.

I can't seem to view web pages. I noticed when I clicked on the tools menu I don't get the usual drop down menu of choices. I get a horizontal listing of options with a white background. I suspect the issue may be somewhere in some settings of my tool bar or the way the system displays web pages.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). 
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]] 
 
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. 
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions. 
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Using LT for motion menu background – problems

I’m trying to use a LT texture (Canvas>Sinopia) as a motion menu background. I exported 30 secs of the rendered texture direct from LT. The QT file size is 1.09 GB. Couldn’t get it to work in DVDSP. Took that file into FCP and re-exported it using custom settings. File size now 108.7 MB. Still doesn’t work in DVDSP.
Should I be putting the 30 second file through Compressor? Is it the large file size that is causing the problems?
Importing the .lpr file into DVDSP also doesn’t work (although I prefer to pre-render all assets, otherwise DVDSP slows to a crawl).
I’ve now tried the texture as a 5 sec version (20 MB file) – works fine, but there’s an annoying jump in the loop every 5 secs. If I could fix that, the menu would probably be OK.
Any advice appreciated.

Both solutions worked. Wish I could award 2 solved stars.
Compressor produced an m2v file of 21.9 MB. I'm going with that because the workflow is quicker and simpler on my old setup.
Exporting as DV from FCP produced a file size of 103.2 MB. My DVDSP slows down with large file sizes, so I'll give it a miss. Or could still be me doing something incorrectly.
I'm working in SD PAL 16:9.

Tiny screen for context menu, bookmarks menu, and firefox menu is destroying usability.

When ever I bring up a menu on Firefox, I get a screen shot of the entire screen compacted into the menu that I am trying to use. If I click a menu in my bookmarks bar, I get a compacted screen shot of my browser overlaying the bookmarks menu.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Local Editing / Context Menu using KM API

Hi all,
I have a custom developed iView, which uses the KM API to view a list of resources.
I display a link to the resource details page using PathKey.DETAILS_PAGE.
This way, in order to use local editing, the user needs to open the details screen, and then choose "Edit Locally" from the Actions menu.
I'm looking for a way to enable this operation in one click.
I thought of 2 ways to do this:
1. Use / create a context menu, like in normal KM navigation iView.
2. Display a link that will trigger local editing directly.
I couldn't find the way to do either.
Any help and/or suggestions will be appreciated.
