Use keyboard input to create shapes?

if i want to create shapes (like a basic rectangle) it appears I have to drag it out with the mouse and then use Transform to adjust for pixel perfect desired size. however, when i do adjust using Transform, it can degrade the shape.
isnt there a way to just type "100 X 50" and not have to do all the extra steps?

Yes, you can do that.
After you have selected your rectangle tool, look in the options bar at the top of the window and click on the down pointing triangle next to the custom shape icon. In the  resulting dialog box click on fixed size and put in your values. Then click on your image and place your shape.

  • Is there a way of using keyboard input?

    Is there a way of using keyboard input in Edge? For example when you press the space-bar it will open a url. This is probaly done though programing.

    Shift/Command and Alt/Control have there own separate event routines.
    Example
    e.metaKey         // depends on browser and targets the Apple key
    e.ctrlKey             // targets the Control or Ctrl key
    e.altKey              // targets the Alt key
    e.shiftKey           // targets the Shift key
    So if you only wanted the event to fire when the Shift key is pressed, then
    if (e.shiftKey){                                              //If Shift key is pressed
           window.open("http://www.adobe.com", "_blank");
    If you wanted to combine the Shift key + Space Bar to trigger the event, then resort to logical operators. In this case you want to 'combine' key strokes, then the logical operator would be a double &&, and demonstrated below.
    if (e.shiftKey && e.which == 32){                     //If Shift Key + Space Bar pressed
          window.open("http://www.adobe.com", "_blank");
    If you wanted to combine the Shift key + some other keyboard Character Code from the above noted list (http://rmhh.co.uk/ascii.html), then change the value of e.which to equal (==) that Character Code. Example from the list, the Character Code for the keyboard 'a' is 65, as altered below.
    if (e.shiftKey && e.which == 65){                     //If Shift Key + A pressed
    window.open("http://www.adobe.com", "_blank");
    To get an accuarte keycode value, there are two demonstrations on this page http://api.jquery.com/event.which/, whereby you can type in thee field and it will capture the value for you.
    Good luck

  • How do I use "Trim Paths" after "Create Shapes from Vector Layer" on a strokes only layer?

    Hello,
    Adobe After Effects CC
    2014.0.2
    Version 13.0.2.3
    I have imported an illustrator file that was created in Illustrator CC 18.0.0. The file contains the outline of a logo. It is the logo with the fill set to none and the stroke set to 1px.
    I drag the logo_strokes.ai file onto the composition, right click, and click Create Shapes from Vector Layer.
    A new layer is created and in the Contents "drop down", a Fill 1 layer is created.
    When I select the Contents "drop down" and click Add / Trim Paths, a Trim Paths 1 layer is created.
    When I animate Trim Paths 1, it appears to animate the Fill layer, not the stroke.
    How do I get it to animate just the stroke, and not show a fill at all?
    Thank you.

    Thanks,
    I am reading and watching tutorials. Still stuck on that one point.
    Here are the images of the After Effects layers. The illustrator layer is the top layer.

  • MPGs from PE 6 can't be used as input to create DVD

    As the title says, I've been using PE6 over the past couple years to capture my video to AVIs.  I then created MPG files for viewing and streaming.  I now would like to save them to a DVD with a menu, etc.  PE6 always crashes.
    I find many hits on the forum saying you cannot use MPG files in such a manner.  That's a bit tough to swallow I suppose as I used PE to create the video but now I cannot turn around and use it as input?  I see mention that there are tools to convert.  I have found that they either do not work or makes with unusable quality (even the paid apps that I have trialed).
    All the posts about MPG seem to be a couple years old so i tought I'd ask if PE8 might have better ability to create a DVD from my exported MPGs.
    Help greatly appreciated!

    I suppose I assumed and hoped it would produce an error message if I imported non-compatible files into my project rather than simply crashing after processing for 20 minutes.
    Well, it is not that those are incompatible, it is just that they take a lot more processing, as they are heavily compressed and also GOP. The biggest problem is that those files are already compressed, and one will compress them again - like a FAX of a FAX.
    As for the crashing, that is probably more a function of the program and the system having to internally convert them to DV-AVI, so that you will have frame-accurate editing.
    One could first convert, outside of PrE, to DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio, and then Import those. However, no conversion program will ever be able to reclaim that data, that was compressed out initially. That quality loss will be there, and compounded, when one Transcodes the material again.
    As far as the complete specs. of those MPEG-2 files, you can use the great, free utility, G-SPOT, to gather all of the details. Unless you adjusted settings, it is very likely that they ARE 100% DVD-compliant. That is one great thing about Adobe programs - they are very specific, regarding accepted specs., unless the user really makes changes.
    Being a full-featured authoring program, I think that DVD Architect will do just what you want. There are probably others, but I do not know which ones might fill the bill. I use Adobe's Encore, but it is no longer available as a stand-alone, and ONLY bundled with PrPro. I think that CyberLink, Roxio and Nero, also have some authoring capabilities, but know zero about that. Two other full-featured authoring apps are DVD Studio (both regular and Pro), and then the "grand-daddy" of them all, Sonic Scenarist, but it is in a league (power and price) all by itself. Might want to also look at the DVD Studio regular, as it gets pretty high marks, but the user interface does get graded down a bit.
    Good luck,

  • CS1 for Java (Keyboard Input)

    I downloaded CS1 for my Comp. Sci class in order to use Keyboard input in my Java coding. However, I don't know where to put the downloaded .jar file. Could somebody please help me? This is where I downloaded it from: http://duke.csc.villanova.edu/jss1/bookResources/keyboard.jsp
    Thanks

    Hi Max
    It's not your fault but I am appalled that Java teachers are still using bodges like the Keyboard class, when the standard Scanner class has been available for over 12 months.
    So here's what I suggest:
    1) Try putting the jar file into /Library/Java/Extensions
    2) Tell your tutor to get his notes up to date and use the Scanner class instead of Keyboard

  • How to use the phone's Mini-Keyboard Input with the 'Textbox'(MIDP2.0)?

    (My apology. My English is not perfect but I'll try my best. >_<)
    Hi. I'm trying to create a textbox(in my own little application) that is compatible with the mini-keyboard input feature.
    This problem involved any device that have a built-in "mini-keyboard".
    Problem:
    I tried the 'Textbox' class from MIDP2.0 but the result, as expected, is like using the phones with no built-in keyboard.
    (Forexample if I want to input the character 'C' inthe text box, I need to press number '2' button three times to let it circle through 'A' -> 'B' then 'C'. )
    Then I tried entering URLs in the phone's built-in web browser, the result is I can use the mini keyboard to type like a PC keyboard.
    Question: How do I implement such textbox that is fully compatible with the built-in mini Keyboard?
    I tried browsing through the MIDP2.0 API but it seems the 'Textbox' class there couldn't do it.
    Thank you. =)

    Edit/Delete Message

    The textbox should have input just as any other normal phone input. If not, something strange is going on.
    Anyway , there is no use to make your own input method, since every phone has another implementation of this anyway. It would only confuse users.

  • Default Keyboard input change in using roaming Profile on different Win 7

    We found a strange problem on default Keyboard setting.
    We are using roaming profiles for all users.
    One of our users is using two Windows 7. One Windows 7 is VDI for working out of office and another Win 7 is her local PC.
    She is only using Two keyboard input: Chinese Traditional English and Chinese Traditional Pinyin.
    Whenever she had used the Windows 7 VDI, when she comes back to office and use her local PC, the default Keyboard input will automatically change to Chinese Traditional Pinyin.
    The user said she had not changed any default keyboard input in the VDI of local PC.
    Is there anything we can do for this issue?

    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));To read something from the console at that point you'd do something like this:
    String inputData=in.readLine();Hope that helps.

  • LSMW to create Sales Order using direct input RVINVB10

    Hi,
    I need advise on 2 parts of Sales Order creation using direct input program RVINVB10.
    1) How do I enter the WBS Element PS_POSID in the item line of Account Assignment tab? There does not seem to be a field in the direct input program structure to fill this in.
    2) How can I fill in item tab 'Billing Plan' that appears only when Item Category = 'Milestone Billing'?
    Thanks

    Nandan,
    Please go through the documentation of the BAPI. It gives you details of what needs to be filled in in which structure/parmater. Also, read the documentation associated with each structure, that will tell what to fill.
    It is really hard to explain it in simple terms as to what are required. But, you need the header, items and partners at the minimum. Also, with some of these structures there are also 'X' structures(like ORDER_ITEMS_INX for ORDER_ITEMS_IN) which should also be filled based on what fields you filled in the original structure. For example, if you filled 'MATERIAL' field on the ORDER_ITEMS_IN structure, you should also fill in the same field on the ORDER_ITEMS_INX structure with an 'X' in it.
    All this is well documented in the BAPI.

  • Keyboard shortcut for star shape does not work - arrow keys

    I need to use the star shape to make a sort of badge with many points.
    In the past, I've used the star shape and held up arrow or down arrow to change the number of points on the star. This no longer works for me in Adobe Illustrator CS4 (on a Windows Vista). Did this shortcut change? All my other keyboard shortcuts work. I tried resetting the preference file for Illustrator just in case, but it didn't fix it.

    I have found a work-around for this problem, although it's a bit annoying.
    I have a Wacom Bamboo tablet and encountered the same problem with establishing the number of points on a star. I tried everything and noticed it worked sometimes. Well, turns out that it will work only once after changing the settings for your pen.  I just moved the tip feel setting leaving the pen tablet properties window open, went to illustrator and the arrow keys worked. If you try drawing the shape again, it won't work. You have to go back to the pen tablet properties window and move or change something, go back to illustrator and it works again. It's a little annoying, but if you're used to using the arrow keys to create shapes, it's handy to know it's there.

  • Keyboard input delay Flex/AIR

    I've build an AIR desktop app that uses an USB barcode scanner. To capture the token provided by the barcode scanner an input field is used.
    When testing the barcode input was only partially captured by the scanner. This was caused by the barcode scanner's input coming in the fast. Increasing the key stroke delay of the barcode scanner (config tool from motorola) solved the problem however this is not ideal.
    Does anyone has experience with this type of problems? What is an approach to solve this? Maybe by writing an Java compagnion app that captures the keyboard input?

    I just ran into this same problem. Our users are scanning barcodes from various labels using various types of scanners (changing the delay using scanner software wasn't an option). We also have to allow them to scan to a TextInput within a DataGrid, which created even more problems. There were 2 very interesting things I learned in coming up with a solution for this one:
    1. As mentioned previously, the scanner inputs the data so quickly that the enter key event is often processed before the change event for the text. I tried several solutions (like trying to force the change event before the enter key is processed), but learned that the best solution was just to add the delay as mentioned in previous posts.
    2. When adding to a DataGrid control, I learned that both the DataGrid's & the TextInput's key down events are fired by the same SystemManager event. Though you can override the TextInput's keyDownHandler, you can't override the DataGrid's because it's a private method. So, even though my delay was being processed in the TextInput, the DataGrid was forcing control away from it and moving to the next item in the grid. To get around this one, I had to stop propagation of the event from the TextInput, then re-start the DataGrid's event once the delay was complete. I also had to process a focus-out event to get it to move to the next item in the DataGrid.
    Here's the code I used inside a custom TextInput control to handle processing both stand-alone and inside a DataGrid:
    override protected function keyDownHandler(event:KeyboardEvent):void
          // If the enter key was pressed, then we need to add a delay.
          // Barcode scanners quite often process the enter key before the TextInput
          // control has time to finish processing all the text. (e.g., Instead of
          // getting 12345 as a text entry, you could get 123 or 1234.)
          if (event.charCode == Keyboard.ENTER)
               // If this is the first time we've processed the enter key, we need to
               // add the delay.
               if (_keyboardEvent == null)
               _keyboardEvent = new KeyboardEvent(event.type, event.bubbles,
               event.cancelable, event.charCode, event.keyCode, event.keyLocation,
               event.ctrlKey, event.altKey, event.shiftKey);
               event.stopImmediatePropagation();
               barcodeTimer(_keyboardEvent);
                          return;
               // If the enter key is pressed while we are still in the delay, ignore
               // it.
               else if (_keyboardEvent != null && _keyboardEvent != event)
                         return;
               // If the delay is complete, then we need to restart events related to
               // the enter key so the control is handled properly.
               else
                    super.keyDownHandler(event);
                    // If the TextInput is inside a DataGrid, then we need to dispatch the
                    // DataGrid's key down event. We also need to make sure the proper
                    // focus change happens (since this was stopped in the original event
                    // propagation).
                    if (parent != null && parent.parent != null &&
               parent.parent is mx.controls.DataGrid)
               parent.parent.dispatchEvent(event);
               dispatchEvent(new FocusEvent(FocusEvent.KEY_FOCUS_CHANGE, true,
                              false, null, event.shiftKey, Keyboard.TAB));
            _keyboardEvent = null;
                    return;
          super.keyDownHandler(event);
    * This is a copy of the keyboard event to be processed once the barcode
    * delay is complete.
    private var _keyboardEvent:KeyboardEvent = null;
    * This method launches a timer of sufficient length to allow barcode
    * scanner text to be processed before it re-launches the keyboard event.
    * @param event This is the key-down event to be restarted once the timer is
    * complete.
    private function barcodeTimer(event:KeyboardEvent):void
          var t:Timer = new Timer(30, 1); // 30 ms
       t.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER,
               function():void
               keyDownHandler(event);
       t.start();

  • Lag keyboard input

    Hi, I have an issue with my first LabView program can anyone help me please?
    The function of my program is to manualy or automaticaly save the data obtained with the multimeter
    My program worked fine until I wanted to add a file creation function each time the program runs, but the program creates a file every 5 seconds, I have tried using a loop and case but I cant make it work, it still creates a file every 5 seconds.
    Any tips?
    Aditionaly I have tried to program a keyboard input for the buttons in the vi using a few examples I found around the forum but my program just lags and I cant even start measuring.
    I atach my vi for inspection , thanks in advance

    It probably shouldn't damage anythin constantly updating the loop, although it does introduce overhead and is generally not tidy, to avoid the constant updating I would recommend looking into shift-registers or feedback nodes. On that note, I'll leave you with this snippet, I'm sure you can see how it might apply.
    [Side-note; In case you don't know how to use a snippet, download and save the image, then drag the file from your explorer into a block diagram.]

  • Focus for keyboard input

    I have a VI that, when started, starts another vi that runs in a
    different part of the screen. I want the user to be able to use the
    keyboard and the original VI be the one that receives the keyboard input
    (key navigation, etc.). How do I get the focus back on the original VI
    without "clicking" on it with the mouse?
    -Stephen

    Try using Property Node under Application Control. Set the class to VI.
    Set FP.IsFrontmost to true. Wire the name of the original vi to the Open VI
    Reference function and then wire the output vi reference to the property
    node. This should return keyboard control to the original vi. If you want
    a specific control within the vi to have focus initially, right click on the
    control and create a property node. Select KeyFocus for the property,
    select Change All To Write, and wire true to the property.
