Use Keychain to find or store password with Safari

Hello Guys,
I wonder how I could use Keychain to find my forgotten password on hotmail with Keychain. Do we need to activate something? I'd really like to know.
At least, do you know how to set my Safari, so I can store my passwords?
Thanks!

provided you actually ever stored the password in the keychain, open keychain Access, locate the keychain entry for hotmail, double-click on it and check the box to show password. you'll have to enter you keychain password at this point which is your login password by default.

  • Use REGEXP_INSTR to find a text string with space(s) in it

    I am trying to use REGEXP_INSTR to find a text string with space(s) in it.
    (This is in a Function.)
    Let's say ParmIn_Look_For has a value of 'black dog'. I want to see if
    ParmIn_Search_This_String has 'black dog' anywhere in it. But it gives an error
    Syntax error on command line.
    If ParmIn_Look_For is just 'black' or 'dog' it works fine.
    Is there some way to put single quotes/double quotes around ParmIn_Look_For so this will
    look for 'black dog' ??
    Also: If I want to use the option of ignoring white space, is the last parm
    'ix' 'i,x' or what ?
    SELECT
    REGEXP_INSTR(ParmIn_Search_This_String,
    '('||ParmIn_Look_For||')+', 1, 1, 0, 'i')
    INTO Position_Found_In_String

  • How to use GREP to find one particular word with automatic hyphen?

    I know I have in my text a word with automatic hyphen on the end of line, say Wo-rd.
    How can I find it?
    Thanks.

    I think you might do better to edit the hyphenation in the Dictionary.
    One reason words hyphenate incorrectly is the wrong language has been applied. Both spell checking and hyphenation rules are governed by the language selected for the text, and language is a character-level attribute so that you can select inidvidual words and assign a different language to them if you like.
    If that's the probelm here, you can look for the word using find/change (without worying about the hyphen) and change the language for all instances.
    In either case you will be far better off fixing the problem on a global scale in the document than you will be finding a particular instance of that word at the end of a line. Any editing you do in the future may cause the problem to reappear somewhere else.

  • I can not send attachments while using Firefox. I can send attachments with Safari. Can you please help me?

    When I try to attach a file I click attach and am able to select a file but when I try to send the email a box appears saying that the attachment is still downloading. I have tried leaving the email about 5 minutes before I send it but I still get the same message. If I do send the email it arrives without the attachment.

    If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 20.0: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    *Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
    *Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • I can't find a (AMTRAK) password in keychain

    One of my passwords (AMTRAK) is obviously held by my Keychain because it is (correctly) pre-entered when I go to the AMTRAK website to log in. It has been a long time since I deliberately saved that password but now, memory failing, wish to know what it actually is.
    Entering Keychain and displaying all passwords presents a list from which I am not able to identify which one refers to AMTRAK. Usually I have no problem with recovering other passwords because the listings clearly reveal the associated website.
    Does anyone have experience with unravelling how the language of the Keychain listings refers to websites in non-obvious cases such as mine?

    I'm going to add a reply to this because I came across a similar issue using Safari - which does actually use "keychain" (firefox keeps its own passwords).  There seems to be something technically wrong in the interaction with the amtrak.com site, and I have to think if firefox user have similar issue as safari, it's with the site and not the browsers.  When I find the the record based on inspecting the password it's filed under the username that is provided to login and the location "where" is just "http://" - this seems wrong to me.  So if you are looking for your amtrak.com password in your safari saved passwords / keychain look for the username and location http://.

Unfortunately, now I can't find this suggested password. In Safari - Preferences - Passwords is only earlier password, which doesn' t work.

  • Using the right apple ID and password I can't sign into iMassage? Why

    Using the right apple ID and password with wi-fi I can't sign into iMassage. Why?

    Did you purchase Apple Care? If you did, you still have access to Apple Support.  If not, go to your Apple Store and let them help you get it set up correctly.  I'm sure it's something simple we're missing.  Good Luck.
    Do remember one thing.  iMessage on iPad only works with other iOS devices.  This means you can only text to people who:
    1.  Have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch
    2.  And they have upgraded to iOS 5 or higher

  • How to encrypt password with hash function in Java?

    Hello, everybody!
    I will need to store user passwords in a database, but for stronger security I want to store these passwords hashed, so I know I will need a column for the password and for the salt value.
    So, I'd like that you indicate me a very good article or tutorial (preferable from Sun) that shows me how to use Java to encrypt and decrypt passwords with hash. It doesn't necessarily need to deal with database. I can implement this part myself after seeing how Java manage encryption with hash functions.
    Thank you very much.
    Marcos

    I will tell you more precisely what I want to get better for you to help me.
    As I said I implemented in .NET what I need to implement in Java now. In my
    database I have a table with this structure (I omitted that columns that are not
    necessary to our discussion):
    CREATE TABLE EMPLOYEES
    ID NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
    PASSWORD VARCHAR(40), -- password encrypted
    HASH_SALT VARCHAR(10) -- salt value used to encrypt password
    So, in the table I have a column to store the password encrypted and a column to
    store the salt value.
    Below is a little utility class (in C#) that I use to generate the salt and
    the hashed password.
    public static class PasswordUtilities
        public static string GenerateSalt()
            RNGCryptoServiceProvider encoder = new RNGCryptoServiceProvider();
            byte[] buffer = new byte[5];
            encoder.GetBytes(buffer);
            return Convert.ToBase64String(buffer);
        public static string EncryptPassword(string password, string salt)
            string encryptedPassword =
                FormsAuthentication.HashPasswordForStoringInConfigFile(
                password + salt, "SHA1");
            return encryptedPassword;
    }As you can see, the class is fairly simple. It only has two methods: one to
    generate the salt value that will be used to encrypt the password and another
    one to encrypt the password. The method HashPasswordForStoringInConfigFile of
    the FormsAuthentication class is what really hash the password with the salt
    value. This class belongs to the .NET library, so we can't see its source code,
    but it doesn't matter for our discussion as I know that we can implement
    something similar in Java.
    Below is a little sample code showing the use of the utility class above to
    encrypt a password.
    public class Encrypt
        public static void Main(string args[])
            string password = "Secret";
            string salt = PasswordUtilities.GenerateSalt();
            string encryptedPassword = PasswordUtilities.EncryptPassword(password, salt);
            // now I store 'encryptedPassword' in the PASSWORD column and 'salt'
            // in the HASH_SALT column in the EMPLOYEES table.
    }To verify if a password is correct I can use the code below:
    public class VerifyPassword
        public static void Main(string args[])
            string password = GetPasswordFromUser();
            // Let's assume that employee is an instance that corresponds to a row
            // in the database and the properties HashSalt and Password correspond
            // to the HASH_SALT and PASSWORD columns respectively.
            Employee employee = GetEmployeeFromDatabase(1);
            string salt = employee.HashSalt;
            string encryptedPassword = PasswordUtilities.EncryptPassword(password, salt);
            bool passwordMatch = employee.Password.Equals(encryptedPassword);
            System.Console.WriteLine(passwordMatch);
    }The only thing that interest me in this discussion is the PasswordUtilities class.
    As you saw its code is in C#, using the .NET framework libraries.
    What I want is to have this same little class coded in Java, to generate the salt
    value and to encrypt the password passed in using salt value generated. If you could
    help me to do that with articles that have what I want or with code that already do
    that I would really appreciate.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Saving Passwords on Safari and Keychain

    i never use Keychain and dont want my internet from safari passwords sasved on it.
    i have looked at safaro prefs and keychain. i can not see anywhere where i can stop the 2 apps linking on P.Words

    Leopard Pagan,
    There is a Safari Preference, have you tried...Safari>Preferences>AutoFill Web Forms: (Uncheck All)?
    If these selections have been checked, you must click "Edit" in order to remove them from AutoFill.
    Keychain has never asked me to retain a Safari password, nor do I find evidence of any password having been recorded in Keychain Access.

  • Need to set a password for safari

    I would appreciate any assistance in setting a password with Safari.
    thank you

    Actually you can set a password, but the way to do it is a bit awkward.
    Set up a separate user account and then using parental controls, set limitations for Safari.
    We did this for my son(teenager) so he could only be on the internet while we are home.
    When he tried to access Safari and a few other applications, it prompts for the Administrator name and password to allow access.
    I hope this has helped.

  • Right Click with Safari

    We have a scheduling calendar software that works with IE on Windows and with Safari on Mac (Safari 3.0.3). There is an entry field that requires using a "right click." Again works with Safari on Mac.
    I can use the site with Safari on my iPhone (much to the envy of my Blackberry toting partners), however, I can't figure out how to make a "right-click" gesture or entry. If I could do that, then I would have full function of the site.
    Anybody have any clues? Or is this just not available yet?

    Leon Bell,
    Just like with a one button mouse on Mac OS X, holding on the item will present the alternatives.
    For example click and hold on the link, until you get a popup that says, "Action", and then move your finger over action, and then release.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • OS X with Safari with Windows MediaPlayer

    We are Canadians, presently living in the United Arab Emirates, and we would like to listen live to CBC Radio (Canadian national radio) at www.cbc.ca. We are using OS X version 10.4.3 with Safari. CBC uses Windows Media Player to broadcast live on the net. When we click on the Media Player at the CBC site the following prompt comes up:
    The page “CBC Radio One Vancouver (32 kbps)” has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page:
    http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/MediaPlayer/
    Do you want to open the page?
    We did download the appropriate version of MediaPayer for the OS X but another prompt states that a plug-in is still missing. Repeated attempts to get the plug-in have failed.
    Any suggestions???

  • Logging in to "Apple Discussions" doent work with safari...

    Every time I try to log in to this page with safari I come to some "Create New User Account" page, even though I already have this account.
    What I have to do is boot up Firefox to be able to post this message. Does anyone know why?

    Apple use Jive as their platform, and it doesn't accept accented letters. It's annoying and one would hope that will be fixed when Apple roll out the new Community Discussions. But for the time being, you will have to use un-accented letters to log in with Safari.

  • Something is wrong with Safari. How do I remove this bug?

    Sometime soon after I downloaded and started using OSX Yosemite I began having problems with Safari. I have attached a screen shot of the message I receive shortly after opening Safari. I am pretty sure its a scam/virus as that is clearly not the apple care number. How do I fix this??

    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
    If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic. If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.)
    Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
    The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
    Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
    Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
    Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
    If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
    This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.
