Use More Text Effects in AE

Hi,
my problem (as a beginner) is that i want to try out some text effects. From watching tutorials i know there are plenty of text effects, but in my AE CC i only have TWO effects So i tried getting more by browsing presets with Adobe Bridge BUT everytime i try this the Bridge prgram just crashes...
Are there other ways to find text effects in AE CC, or a way to fix Bridge, or any other solution?

The problem is that you are confusing effects with animation presets. They are different things. You are not actually looking for "text effects"; you are looking for "text animation presets".

  • Where can I find more text effects, in particular typemachine?

I've been using Keynotes for some time, where type machine effect was one of my default-effect style on text. But now I turned to Captivate – a day or two ago –, none of those in the existing XML Gallery of Captivage presents this feature. Where can I find it? Is it downloadable somewhere? Many thanks

    Thanks Rod for your answer.
Indeed, I found one  animation. Is it the one you are refeering to? I think it can be found in two places: in the first one under "Properties" > "General" > select effect "Type effect". This one is OK except of that vertical cursor I do not want. The second one under "Effects" > "Add an effect" fx effect: I can't find that typewriting effect in the existing library, and I guess it is extendable, but I don't know how. Where can I find more fx effects?

  • More text not working after using bluetooth map profile with bmw

    Hello,
I am using my BB9360 in my BMW. Everything is working fine, emails, contacts, schedulke and tasks are displayed. But after leaving the car my BB is not able to complete an email (more text). After doing an restart (BB) the "more text" menu is working again. Disabling the email accounts in the bluetooth map options is a work around.
I swapped the hardware witth no effect.
    I am running OS 7.1 Paket 1133 v7.1.0.336
Any suggestions or ist it  a known bug?
    Walter

I have exactly the same issue with BMW iDrive on a Dec 2011 M3 and Bold 9900 using the snap-in adaptor and bluetooth - but thanks for the workaround, was really doing my nut not being able to download more!
Would prefer a bug fix though of course - am up to date on latest versions for the 9900 on Vodafone UK, but I have an outstanding update on the iDrive which I will do and let you know the result.

  • In Captivate 8, how do I insert a text animation. It is grey scale and therefore can't be selected. I also want to use a "typing" effect.

    Hi there
What is your project type? Responsive? If so, that's why animation is disabled. Animations are usually built in Flash and Responsive output doesn't "do" Flash.

  • Using more than one web font in the same text field

I know I can do something like this when calling more than one weight in a web font:
    sym.$('copy').html('<span style="font-weight: 700;">Adobe</span> | About Us')
And the word Adobe will be bolder than About Us. But what about using more than one font in the same text field? I tried this:
    sym.$('copy').html('<span style="font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif;">UHLIG</span> | About Us')
Now that doesn't work and I get a SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list
    I then tried
    sym.$('copy').html('<span style="font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif;">UHLIG</span> | About Us')
and the text rendered but whatever was selected in the font menu was what got displayed.
Is there a way around this to display two different fonts, web fonts or not, in the same field?

    Hey, ladobeugm-
One thing to note is that you probably need to escape the quotes in your span tag.  What you have is an issue with quotation marks - for instance, all JavaScript sees is <span style="font-family: in your first string, and only sees <span style="font-family: " in your second.  Play around with escaping to see if you can get your span to work.
    Hope that helps,
    -Elaine

  • Using more than 1 recordset text in page

Ok, im not sure how to explain this, but basically, if i use
    more than one of these
    <%=(RScomments.Fields.Item("comment_notes_text").Value)%>
    So in this example;
    <%=(RScomments.Fields.Item("comment_notes_text").Value)%>
    <%=(RScomments.Fields.Item("comment_notes_text").Value)%>
Then the second or subsequent ones show as blank in the page,
    can anyone help?
I need to do an if then else statement, and because of this
issue, the conditions work but the data does not display.
    Darren

Not sure this is right, but it might depend on your database
and SELECT statement order. If it's e.g. MS SQL, and
"comment_notes_text" is a blob field (e.g. ntext or other
memo-style field), then you should make sure your SELECT statement
selects all the blob/text fields after any other kind of field, and
    then in order. Like this:
    SELECT nonblobfield1, nonblobfield2, nonblobfield3,
    nonblobfield4, blobfield1, blobfield2
If you don't do that, then your blob fields might not display
    on the page.

  • How do I get more text options in photoshop??

How do I get more text options in Photoshop?  I have the basic package, but I would like more script options.
    Thank you,
       Maureen

I don't suppose you have a full CC subscription?  It comes with a feature called Typekit which I love. Along with an ever increasing range of top quality fonts, it has the best font manager I have used, and excellent search facility.
The web is full of additional font sites like dafont
    http://www.dafont.com/
    Otherweise, Google is your friend
If you want Text Effects then Google will help you out there as well

  • Bridge .ffx files (text effects) no longer open up in After Effects 2014?

I am having an issue trying to get the text effects (.ffx) in Bridge (that use to open up in After Effects just fine) to open up in After Effects 2014 latest update. Is there a work around, setting or alternative I can use?

Here is the log I received with the error:

  • Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6?

so I upgrade from CS6 to CC and did not install Bridge CC. Then while in After Effects CC I try to view the text animation presets, but window informs me I do not have Bridge CC installed. I then download and install Bridge CC and view the animation presets, but seem all the same as Bridge CS6 has.
My question is - Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6.
Is there another procedure to acquire more? Did I click past something on my first launch of Bridge CC?

My question is - Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6.
Best try this in the After Effect forum, to my knowledge not many AE users are here at a regular base. Besides that, every suite version has its dedicated applications to work together in that suite, CC is no exception to that so for best practice use Bridge CC.

  • Can I use photoshop text styles and photoshop actions with creative cloud photography?

I'm really confused by this subscription pricing. If I purchase the $9.99/month, do I get the full desktop app of Photoshop and Lightroom? But I see on this page Products they list something called Photoshop CC that costs twice as much. How is that different from the Creative Cloud Photography?
My main question is whether I can use photoshop text styles and photoshop actions with Creative Cloud Photography, since I just purchased a bundle that includes these and I want to be able to use them. But I'd also like to understand what comes with all of the various products and how they are different.
My other question is how is Lightroom different from Photoshop? I have a sense of what you can do in Photoshop but I don't know much about Lightroom at all.
One more question: the free trial -- is it limited in any way besides the time length? If I do that, will I get a clear idea of all that I will be able to do once I subscribe, or are the functions limited in the trial?
I tried to just send an email to Adobe to ask these questions but apparently they are not interested in responding to emails from people who are not yet paying customers, so I was directed here. Thanks very much for your help!

I always like to trot this bit about Bridge once in a while or in the voice of the "Two Bobs" from Office Space,
"Can you tell us exactly what it is you do around here?"
    What Adobe Bridge does:
Bridge is the coordinating hub of the Creative Suite. Synchronizing color management settings for all suite programs is done from Bridge, and can only be done from Bridge, to take one important use.
Bridge displays actual thumbnails of many more file types than Finder or Explorer. It also allows instant play of sound or video files more readily than the native OS file managers.
Bridge allows direct access to file metadata, to embed copyright information  and keywords where appropriate (e.g., for corporate logo vector and raster files). It also displays the fonts used in an InDesign file, the swatches in an INDD or AI and the output plates (including spot color plates) they use.
When managing the assets for a design project, Bridge allows quick and simple sorting, rating and custom labeling (with color flash indications) of assets. I can rate images according to whether they are rejects, possibles, for review by client, or approved. The filters built into Bridge allow instant isolation of only the approved images or designs in a folder, only the rejects (for deletion) or only files with certain ratings, no matter how many files it contains. It recognizes aspect ratios, so if I only need a landscape or a 16:9 image in a folder of hundreds of images, I turn off the aspect ratios I don't need.
Once filtered, the remaining visible files can be selected and copied, moved, or deleted without affecting the rest of the contents of a folder.
Collections are a massively useful feature. One of my clients is a performing arts center, and in a season we turn out dozens of ads, flyers, brochures, web banners, playbills, billboards and other collateral using the same assets over and over. These assets are organized by artist and/or show on disk, but I set up each season's repeating assets as a Collection in Bridge, so that I just have to open the collection and drag and drop these assets into new INDD, AI, PSD, HTML (in Dreamweaver), FLA or AE projects without having to navigate from folder to folder picking up individual files.
Bridge's Favorites is another place I stack frequently-accessed folders, such as stock photography, backgrounds, and top-level folders for active projects.
Assets can be divided into subfolders, but a quick toggle of "Show items from subfolders" exposes all of the assets in a single view while maintaining their organization. I will typically keep AIs, PSDs, EPSs, stock photography and client images in separate subfolders within a project. When I'm ready to start pulling assets into an InDesign layout, I toggle this on and simply drag what I need into the layout.
Bridge comes with Adobe Camera Raw built in, which is many times faster than using Photoshop to adjust jpegs or tiffs for things like tonal range, white balance, cropping, spotting and sharpening, and is non-destructive.
One tremendously useful Bridge function for InDesign CS5+ users is the "Show linked files" feature, which opens all the linked files in a layout into a single view, regardless of where they are physically located. I often use this when doing alternative layouts from a client-approved mockup for a campaign, to be certain the same assets are used in each piece, or when creating a motion graphic or interactive piece for the campaign in After Effects or Flash.
The batch and image processing scripts built into Bridge automate things like creating web-ready small jpegs from multiple images, renaming large numbers of files in place or by copying to an alternative location, creating sets of PSD, png, jpeg or other file types from an assortment of image files, and so on.
Bridge is so much a part of my daily workflow that on my main workstation I have one monitor dedicated to it almost 100%. Bridge just sits open 24/7, ready for use. I would run at half speed without it, no question.

  • Text Effect Does Not Appear

I have never encountered this problem before. I wanted to make my copyright watermark more striking, so I created a variation on the relatively well-known "glass" text effect, but the effect will not print, nor will it show up when the file is saved as anything other than a psd. I have tried to rasterize the text, rasterize the layer, and convert it into a smart object; I get nothing. I have exported it to Illustrator, and I get nothing. I have just opened the psd in other programs that read the psd format, and I get nothing: it always just turns out as flat, unaltered text. Even Photoshop won't print anything but the flat text. Save it as something like a jpg, and the result is an image with flat text. I don't have this happen when I do simpler effects: my current watermark is a bevel and emboss with contour and a drop shadow, and it looks perfect; but when I do the more complicated layering to make the glass effect, the result is as if I had done nothing but put text color on it. In fact, the only way I can even show the effect here is via a screen capture from Photoshop CS5, which looks like this:
It's not a very good rendering of what it looks like in Photoshop, but the screen capture is the only thing I've got.
The layer effects that were enabled for the image you see are inner shadow, outer glow, and bevel and emboss. Several other effects I had already turned off.
Is it the case that some text effects just won't show up? I can't imagine that's the case, since the sites where creating such effects are demonstrated certainly must be exporting the imagery to show it on their sites.
One last curiosity is that, once I've put in all the layers, I can turn them off one by one, and I get no effect, even when I've turned off effects to the point where I basically have my original watermark style, which looks just fine in print and jpg.
Does anyone have an explanation for why this is happening. Is it something I'm doing, or is it really that I can't print or present as jpg images some text effects?
On a techical note, I'm using Photoshop CS5 64-bit in Windows 7 on a very good computer, and my main monitor is not IPS, but it is VA, and is calibrated every two weeks.
Any help in solving my rather frustrating mystery would be most appreciated.

I shall herewith provide as much visual information as possible to help you see the work product and its components.
This is a screen capture of a photograph in which I used the glass effect:
Next is a capture to show the effect more clearly (a published print would have the opacity of the text layer reduced considerably since it looks rather strong at 100%):
Next is what happens to the effect when the psd file is converted to JPG. This is also what it looks like as a print straight-away from Photoshop, and it even looks like this in the Print Preview window of Photoshop:
And finally, below are screen captures of each effect applied to the text layer, followed at the end by the Character set-up:
I do apologize for the extensive graphics in this post, but I am hopeful that this evidence will be sufficient to provide the answer to my inquiry about why the glass text effect declines every effort to show outside of the Photoshop screen.

  • Using Trailer text "Titles" in other imovie projects?

The various trailers in the new imovie 11 are great, but I can't seem to utilize the text / titles specific to those trailers on any of my other projects? Is there a trick to pulling it off? Same thing with the music in the trailers, can't seem to apply it to / access within any other projects in imovie ....

There is a better way to use the "Animatics" used in iMovie's trailers. Unfortunately, Apple didn't consider that more text may be need in a trailer as there is currently no command or native function to create new text using the same title effects used in iMovie's trailers. Fortunately, after a short search on the net, I found this:
    http://www.ipex.org/files/use_imovie_11.pdf
This guy provides step-by-step instructions on how to use iMovie's trailer animatics in any project. Hope this helps you, it helped me!

  • Imported MP4 HD vid. Added text effects. Want to reexport in same quality. How?

    I own a:
    Model #: p6140f
    Product #: NP192AA-ABA
    Software Build #: 93NAv6PrA2
    PCBRAND: HP Pavilion
I imported an MP4 HD (1080p) video. I then added some text effect layers, and want to export the comp in 1080p as well. Yet, when I try File > Export > MPEG-4 I always get low quality, audioless files.
    Comp settings: Pixel Aspect Ratio- HD 1080/DVCPRO HD 720 (1.33), Resolution - Full (1920 x 1080, 7.9 MB 8bpc frame.
When I export to MP4, I have the option of file format: MP4 or MP4 (ISMA).
When I select MP4, My video format choices are: None, MPEG-4 Basic, MPEG-4 Improved or H.264. Data Rate: Optional (256 kbt/s stardard). Image Size: anywhere from 160 x 120, 176 x 144 QCIF, or what I want, 1920 x 1080 HD. Frame Rate: 8-60 or custom.
When I select MP4 (ISMA). My video format choices are: None, MPEG-4 Basic or MPEG-4 Improved. Data Rate: Again Optional (256 kbt/s stardard). Image Size: anywhere from 160 x 120 to 352 x 288 CIF. Frame Rate: 8-30 or custom.
Additionally, none of these MP4 files feature sound either.
What is going on here, and how can I correct these problems?
If you need more info don't hesitate to ask!
    Thanks,
    Yakshire

how can I correct these problems?
You need to read the help, plain and simple:
    Basics of rendering and exporting
You don't use Export, you use the Render Queue and Adobe's native H.264/ MP4 encoders.

  • Shape Layer to 3D Text Effect

    Hey guys,
I'm trying to figure out if there is a way that I can create a shape layer to and give it the 3D text effect.  To further explain, I created some text in Photoshop, but for it to be stylized, I did it with the pen tool so my words are shape layers instead of text layers.  Im also using CS6 normal and not extended, so I don't have that 3D option at the top.  If there is a method for this, I would greatly appreciate the help.  Thank you!
Examples of what I'm going for:
    http://maxcdn.photoshoplady.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Clean-3D-Text-Effect-Creation-u sing-CS6-L.png
    http://vanimg.s3.amazonaws.com/0613-text-15.jpg

I didn't look at your example until after I made the demo image, but you could work it to produce that effect.
What we used to make 3D text before we had Photoshop 3D tools, was Free Transform Step & Repeat.  You'll find a bunch of tutorials if you look, but basically:
Make your front shape, make a copy and rasterize the copy. Hide the Shape because you don't need it any more.
    Copy your rasterized shape layer.
Free Transform the copy, and use the size and movement values in the options bar.  For my demo I moved it up a couple of pixels, and resized to 98% horizontally and vertically.
Hold down Shift Alt Ctrl (Shift Opt Cmd) and keep hitting the t key until you have sufficient depth.  You end up with a lot of layers.  My size and movement was a bit course, which you can see from the jaggies on the bottom left of the '3' character.
Select all the 3D layers, and go Layers > Arrange > reverse (you just want to bring your initial layer to the top of the stack.
Select all the other 3D layers and merge them
Give the initial layer a different colour or tone.
You'll want to add some shading, so make a new layer above the merged layers, Ctrl click the merged layers to load the selection, and add a layer mask to the new layer (called shading in my image)
Unlink the layer mask.  This is so we can blur our shading without bleeding past the text boundries.
I prefer to paint in the shading because you can blur and adjust opacity.  Paint it in with a hard brush for accuracy, and use a LOT of blur (Gaussian 10)
You might need multiple layers and selections to control the different faces, but I just finished off with the Dodge tool.
Having the front face and body on different layers, means you can mess about with layer styles, or colorize with a hue/saturation layer.
A bit more dodge and burn with some careful masking and perhaps a curves layer set to luminosity...  You have the building blocks and can keep adding to them.

  • Edge Text Effects in Chrome not Working - from Dan Carr / Inspire Mag article

I've been working with the tutorial in the September issue of Adobe Inspire to create text effects with Edge Animate - see link:
    http://www.adobe.com/inspire/2013/09/edge-text-effects.html
I can get it to work well in IE and Firefox but nothing much happens in Chrome.
Anyone any idea where I may be going wrong?
My problem is with the section specifically relating to using Edge Animate - the other parts of the tutorial work OK in Chrome when using a plain HTML file but I'm interested mainly in adding the text effects to existing Edge compositions.

Here's an example based on the tutorial - just open in the different browsers to see the problem:
    http://www.wizinnovation.com/edge/boardWithSVG.html
DDcreams mentions a problem with webkit browsers which I expect is correct - I have no idea where to start to try and fix it though!
Here's a paste of the edgeActions:
    * Adobe Edge Animate Composition Actions
    * Edit this file with caution, being careful to preserve
    * function signatures and comments starting with 'Edge' to maintain the
    * ability to interact with these actions from within Adobe Edge Animate
