Use my iPad like Wacom Cintiq attached to iMac?

Is there any way I can use my iPad like Wacom Cintiq and have it attached to an iMac?
Can't afford a Cintiq to draw on-- but I am wondering if I can accomplish basically the same thing by somehow attaching it to my iMac.  Draw visually on the iPad -- using photoshop and/or apps resident on the iMac, etc...
Would be fantastic if possible...
All thoughts appreciated.
kind regards
TODD

I haven't used it personally so I can't tell you how well it performs. I do know there is some lag but also by their twitter feed they have some things in the works to speed things up.

  • The "Apple ID Password box along with the keyboard keeps popping up on my iPad and stays there.  I have changed my email address on my iMac but my old one still remains on the iPad.  Also changed password.  Nothing works!  I can't use the iPad like this!

The "apple ID Password" box along with the keyboard pops up when I turn the iPad on and it stays there.  I have changed my email address on my iMac and also changed my password.  The old email address is still on the iPad.  Anyway, I can't use the iPad because can't get the apple id password box to go away.  Thanks for any help!

This is an older photo but the sleep and home buttons are still in the same place on all iPads. The home button is the round button at the bottom of the iPad and the sleep button is also called the on/off button and it is at the top right corner of the iPad.

  • Connecting a Wacom Cintiq 13HD to iMac (2012)?

I have been having issues connecting my 27" thunderbolt iMac (2012) to my Cintiq 13HD so far i have bought several adapters and have done several diffent methouds along side it. I am now at a point where the iMac screen goes blue for maybe 2-3 seconds but doesn't mirror across to the cintiq. can you help?

Have you updated the latest Wacom cintiq's driver?
Do you have another (third monitor) attached to your imac? Are you using your Cintiq as "second" display?
Some people connect the cintiq through adaptor, which would make the cintiq the third display.
Normally, as I know, imac can get hooked up to only one monitor (as second display).  The imac wouldn't recognize the third display unless you have an adaptor.
In any case, if your cintiq is a second monitor, you shouldn't have the problem you mentioned.  May be the cintiq is defective or it's your driver isn't up to date.  I also have a cintiq13hd connected to an imac as second display and it works just fine.
    Hope this help.

  • Can I use my IPad as a backup for my IMac instead of an external hard drive?

I'm wondering if I can use my iPad as a backup for my iPad instead of an external hard drive?

As your question says backup for your iMac I assume that is what you mean, as opposed to what is in the text. The iPad doesn't have a disk mode, and you can only copy onto it content that is supported by the apps that you've got. So personally I'd say no - external hard drives are easier to use as a backup and are a lot cheaper

  • Can I use my iPad as a monitor for my iMac?

I have an '06 model iMac running OS Lion.  Recently the screen gave up and it is difficult to see pictures.  I took it to the apple store and had it tested.  The good news is it is just the display, not the video card.  The bad news is I don't have another monitor I can use at this time.  I was wondering if there is a way I can use my iPad 3 to take the place of a monitor.  I want to mirror the image I see on the screen to the iPad.  I wouldn't mind if it were done while connected to the iMac as I prefer using the keyboard as opposed to the touch screen.  I just need a make shift monitor until I get a new mac (soon I hope).

Yes, there are a couple of apps that can do this. Read the reviews carefully, because none are perfect. Here's a writeup on one of them:

  • Using my iPad 2 to connect to my iMac Camera?

I was wondering if there was a way I could access the built-in camera on my iMac at home using my iPad 2 at a remote location?  I know there is Facetime but that requires a party to be located on each end.  I want to be able to access the camera on the iMac at home when no one is there.  Any suggestions on what it would take to do this?
    Thanks in advance!

You're right, FaceTime won't do what you want.  You would need a remote app such as LogMeIn Ignition to accomplish this.  Basically you would be remote controlling your iMac from your iPad.  This would allow you to activate the camera via PhotoBooth or iChat or any other app on your computer that can access the camera.

  • Has anyone ever used their iPad to remotely connect to a iMac and use programs like Photoshop on their iPad?

    Hi everyone,
I had an iMac at home, but I've recently taken on some freelance work and they would like me to come into the office every now and then. I don't want to purchase a laptop and I know you can remotely connect to your desktop with an iPad, but I need to know if anyone has ever done that and successfully used programs like Photoshop on their iPad. Is there lag time when trying to use the software? Or is it just not possible and I should consider getting a laptop again?
    Thank you!

iPads are not exact laptop replacements. If you need to be using Photoshop, then buy a normal laptop computer.
Using a remote access app on an IPad or any tablet conputer  to remote access your computer to operate will be quite a lot slower and clumsier than just having a laptop with a normal OS and Photoshop application installed.

  • I can print, using AirPrint, just fine. But how do I change Printer settings using my Ipad, like page orientation and 2 sided printing?

When printing an email I get the option to select 2 sided printing but not page orientation. When trying to print a picture from my picture library I don't get either option. I am using a HP printer with AirPrint. Thanks, Dave

Whow what a shame, I thought this iPad was going to be terrific.  Guess I'll get out my trusty Cannon from now on, lots less hassle.
    Thank you for the reply!

  • Can I use my iPad as video monitor with my Canon 5D II?

    HI,
All is in the title. I'd like to use my iPad as video monitor for my Canon 5D II.
(I don't want to use Wireless system)
Maybe a solution with HDMI adaptator and an app? (I guess if we have HDMI video out, we can also have video in... just a software stuff...)
I know a lot of peoples really want to use their iPad like this (and by the way, don't have to buy a new external monitor for Their DSLR)
    Thanks by advance,
    NBS

Right now, there is no way to do that real time.   Sooner or later somebody will write the app for that, but now, there is no way.  You can certainly xfer pics and videos from the camera to watch, but that is as far as it goes.

  • Aim using an ipad version 7.0.4 on using yahoo thru safari or yahoo app I cannot attach documents as icon unseen

Iam using an ipad version 7.0.4 and when using yahoo mail thru safari or yahoo app iam unable to see icon for attachment,,,,it only shows add picture....pls can someone help...I even changed to desktop version but to no avail

I`m `propping` up this thread to to the top of the forums again as it`s been three months and not a single community member or Apple support personnel have replied, which I find discouraging.
I`ve tried everything - both the iOS device(s) and Apple TV have been upgraded (albeit reluctantly) to the latest versions, since iOS 7 looks like crap compared to iOS 6. Both use the same WiFi network. Bluetooth is set to `off`, as per the online tutorials on the Apple Support page.
I also tried shutting all of them down, including the router, waiting 30 seconds and turning the router, then the Apple TV then the iOS device on sequentially with 30 seconds in between each, again as per this discussion forum, and still nothing.
Why can Apple not make a technology, such as AirPlay, work with greater than 10%?
    Any other ideas?
    Come on, people.
    Thanks,
    Doug

  • Why can't I attach docs to my email, even when I'm in my mac or yahoo account when using an iPad. I'm thinking of returning it because it is a basic tool that isn't supported.

Why can't I attach files when writing an email, even when logged in to my mail account via safari, on my iPad. I'm thinking of retuning it as a big waste of time and money.

Except for the first response, all of you are unhelpful. The email was configured. Apple contacted me about the issue and said that the iPad cannot attach multiple docs to a single email regardless of whether the docs are located on the iCloud, in Pages, or a dropbox. It's operating system is not designed to do so (a stupid error if they are promoting the use of iPads for business and productivity, or even fields like architecture, design, and marketing, or even as an office alternative for remote use in meetings...which they are in professional consultations with offices). It also cannot do this through an alternate email site like a university server, yahoo, gmail, etc via Safari. Apple also cannot recommend a third party App that can do so. What they recommended, and there seems to be a lot of buzz about this being a problem with the iPad on the Internet, is that people go to their website, go to product feedback and go to enhancement requests and request the capacity to attach different types of files other than photos, and the capacity to attach multiple documents to an email. Basic functions...any email user would want. One of the Apple techs even thought it was implausible that they hadn't integrated this function ALREADY, when I called to set up the appointment.

I don't think you can connect a printer since you won't have the printer drivers. I use FingerPrint from collobos.com to print to my non-AirPrint printers.

  • Why iPad2 has now an ugly design on the music labrary. it used to be like itunes library on the PC. it's not artistic at all that design. how can i get the other design back to my ipad 2?

Last August 2011 I purchased an ipad2 and the music labrary design used to be like iTunes labrary that we have on our PC. But last Dec, 5th 2011 I was downloaded songs from my PC iTunes labrary to my iPad2, then everything were restored and i lost all my apps. I retreived my app but the music labrary design changed to the very ugly design instead of the original iTunes labrary I used to have. and on the logo changed from iPod logo to just music logo.
This new music labrary design is so ugly and no artistic at all. no professional at all.
I am wondering if somebody can help me to find back my iPod logo and iTunes labrary design I used to have on my iPad2 when I purchased it, Please.
Thanks in advance for whomever will help.

There is no iPod App anymore. the Music App took it's place. There is nothing that you can do about the way it looks and you can't change the features in the app.
You can send feeback to Apple about any changes that you would to see them implement.

  • I am a teacher and would like to know how to use the iPad in the classroom?

I am a teacher and would like to know how to use the iPad in the classroom?

Since this is a user forum you might wish to do some Google searching on your topic. There are hundreds of ways an iPad could be used in the classroom both by teachers and students. Apple is very much involved in education so you may wish to look further into their programs, but that is not done on the forums but through Apple's website. For example, Students - Mac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad for college and Education - iPod touch and iPhone enable on-the-go and Education - iPad makes the perfect learning ...
