Use my PowerMac G5 + MacPro with 1 Apple 23" Aluminum Display?
While I have a 17" Apple Studio Display (plastic surround) for my PowerMac G5, I'd like to have both computers (MacPro) share the Apple 23" display (aluminum display) so I can free up the 17" Studio Display for my MacBook Pro.
I think this can be done based on other discussions but, how would I do this with these two computers?
Also, is it possible for me use the PowerMac G5 like I would an external hard drive for storage?

If you hold down "T" when booting the G5 it will enter Target Disk Mode and behave as a Firewire disk. Use a Firewire cable to connect it to the other computer.

I understand the instructions to create a new account id (apple id) from the old aol account. However, does this mean my purchases will be split into 2 accounts; or does the fact that I currently see everything under my apple id (regardless of the purchased by username) mean this will all still appear in my current account as it does now?You see them where when you login your non-AOL account ?
If you currently have two accounts (the AOL username account and an email address account) then you will continue to have two accounts, and nothing should change when you update the AOL account to be an email address (apart from how you access that account).
You will just be renaming the account to have an email address for accessing it, not creating a new account. -

Despite the proliferation of mobile devices and the fact that there are many of us who do a lot of international travel, content providers don't want you to have access to their products outside of your homeland. The Balkanized mentality of the DRM Dictatorship is way out of touch with the modern world.
At least Apple, to its credit, allows you to use your accounts outside of your homeland as long as you have the proper credentials for them. Most other services use the more Draconian geolocation filtering which does require you to be physically present in your homeland. For the most part, you are not allowed to leave home if you want access to your favorite entertainment! -

You cannot plug a USB dongle into an iPad using the USB part of the iPad Camera Connection Kit.
The Camera Connection Kit is for connecting cameras - hence the name.
You'd need to get a MiFi device to use 3G data via WiFo on your iPad. -
I upgraded to iOS 7 to my ipad using iTunes. When signing with the Apple ID I get an error reading "There was a problem connecting to the server" anyone who knows what to do next
Sounds more like you have a problem with your apple id. For starters go to that page click manage my apple id and singn in. If you can't sign in reset password.

No! Apple is not law enforcement and therefore does not have personal investigating lost or stolen property other than Apple's own.
Even if they had the information data protection laws would prevent them from giving it to you or anybody else including law enforcement. -
My macbook pro is just back from repairs. It is not working with my apple led cinema display. I have followed the directions in the cinema display manual. am I missing something?
Take a look at the Displays preference panel to see if everything is ok, particularly the resolution and refresh rate. Displays will probably try to put the panel for the ACD on the ACD where you won't see it. So click "Gather Windows" to get the ACD panel on to your macbook.
One more thing, make sure you fully seated the mini displayport plug. They can be sneaky little devils in that they need to be fully pushed in. -

I live in Texas and am visiting my family in Georgia. I didn't travel with my iPad as there are 4 at home I can use. I sign my brothers Apple ID out in the iTunes Store sign in as myself and attempt to watch a tv show I have purchased and get the for 90 days you can't download anything form iTunes to this device with a different apple ID warning. Why can't I just stream this tv show on my brothers device since I have purchased it on my device and am logged into iTunes on my brothers device with my apple ID? What a pain in the as?.
First of all would not be streaming the show on his iPad, you would be downloading a purchased item on his iPad for free. And it is something that was not purchased with his ID. It was purchased with your ID. I believe that Apple does that to prevent users from giving each other purchased content without buying it on their own. That's my take anyway.

Using devices in one family with different apple ID's
We have a mac that the family and business use under my Apple ID. Recently my husband purchased an iPad Air for our business. He needs the emails to update automatically between the mac and the iPad, so that if an email is replied to, or deleted on the iPad then it will delete on the mac and visa versa. The problem appears to be that the mac is set up under my id and the iPad is set up under his Apple ID. My questions are these: do both devices have to be logged in with the same id for this to work? If I log out of the mac and log back in using my husbands Id, will I be able to access everything on the mac except iTunes maybe?

Can I use iMessage on mountain lion with 2 Apple ID's?
I have an Apple ID for my mac and iCloud and one for my iPad. I am not able to add the ipad ID to my mac imessage app so I am not able to sync the messages. Is there a fix to that?

Right at this minute I am having a nightmare with this as well.
I have two.
One users the older original Apple ID I was talking about and the other uses the @me.com name I created
Yesterday I notice that the older ID iPhone was saying it was not doing iMessages and needed to be set to do so.
The "Waiting for Activation" spun for ages. My Mac Messages app had "lost" the iPhone Number.
It was late when I discovered this and today I left the phone at work.
With my Second phone it was also saying it was not Connected to the iMessages server.
It too said "waiting for Activation"
When it did send a Message to the Mac the iPhone Number here was Greyed out and I could not set it as the Send From ID.
I set it about 7.30PM here and it still says "Waiting for Activation" even thought it shows the no present iPhone number as an Option and the two Apple IDs and I can receive and Send iMessages.
I still can't use the iPhone's Own Number !!!
So it has been doing this for at least 2 and 1/2 hours.
Even tried resetting it with no Apple ID so it would "register" the iPhone Number.
Bizarrely it is showing the Absent iPhone's number as a Alias.
I am wondering if you can only register one iPhone Number.
I was trying to keep one iPhone out of the Sync process but it seems to have gained the other IDs whether I enter them or not.
At present I cannot work out if the apps on the iOS devices are failing, whether the Mac version is at fault or if it is a Server thing.
As it was set up and was working I am presuming the server is the issue as we also have not had Updates.
As for providing an Answer I am stuck myself right this minute.

Trouble using facetime on another device with same apple id

I am having trouble using facetime with my wife. I have an iPad 2 and she has an IPhone 4S. When we try to facetime, we are able to connect for a few seconds and then it drops off. We are then unable to reconnect. We both have the same apple Id and e-mail address although I am trying to contact her via her mobile number. I need to restore the backup to my iphone 3gs but the password associated with my Apple ID. It says the password I entered is not correct. Should i be putting in my Apple ID password or would it be a different password to unlock the backup.
I believe it is asking for the passcode you use for the screen lock on the phone.

How can I use my 17" MacBook Pro with my 30" Apple Cimema HD Display in clamshell mode (with lid closed). I can only use it in clamshell mode when the AC adapter is plugged in. When I try to wake the computer from battery, it turns on but then goes right back to sleep mode.
