Use of 0MAT_UNIT to display attributes

Has anyone successfully used 0MAT_UNIT in a query to display material atributes such as the "height" of a material in a specific alternate unit of measure, such as "Case". The "height" in 0MATERIAL refers to the base unit (i.e. EA) so we cannot use this.
We have the information in our BW system but it won't display correctly in our queries - it always comes in as ***** and we can't seem to figure out why. It almost seems like we've got to add it to the attributes of 0MATERIAL in order to get it to correctly display. But we're trying to avoid this.

Do you know more specifically how we could get the unit in the rows of a query to see the values? It's weird because of the way that object is organized, and with it being master data and not a key figure... it doesn't seem like it can be filtered or anything.
As a workaround I created a new InfoObject and am loading it from 0MAT_UNIT within BW and use the update rules to get what I need. Then I added this InfoObject to the Material dimension of my InfoCube. That seems to work okay for now.

How to show display attributes like key and description in voyager

This question is on voyager connecting to SAP BI Query. I would like to show both key and description of the row member. It is mentioned in the guide that display attributes can be viewed and changed from the properties tab of the tab panel. But I didnt see any such option in properties tab.
Any solution for this?

Display attributes from "global" and other entities in a single screen

As far as I know, in OPM attributes of only one type of entity can be added to any given screen.
As per of functional requirements of my current project Ihave to display attributes from more than one type of entity in some of the screens.
I found a workaround for entities which has only one instance (singleton entity in version 10.1), but couldn’t figure out how to display attributes of entities which has multiple instances.
For example:
We have an entity called “the child” which has many attributes. There can be more than one child instances defined in a given assessment session.
This particular screen should have attributes which belong to the "global" and "the child" instances.
(The names of all the children should be displayed on the screen as check boxes so the user can select the children who are affected by the global attributes displayed on the screen.)
Is this achievble in OPM 10.1?

Displaying Global attributes and nested entity level attributes on the same question screen cannot be done in OPM 10.1 with out-of-the-box functionality. It would have to be a custom screen. (FYI, I'm not a programmer so I can't advise on how to build such a custom screen.)
Before building customisations, you should also consider whether you really need to use an old version of the product. OPA 10.1 was released early last year; the current version is 10.3.

Error while changing the Display Attribute into Navigational Attribute

Hi all.. Gud Mrng.
I was changed the attribute (product) from display attribute into navigational attribute and while save and activating the info object it is not getting activated and it is throwing the below error message.
Error Message: u201CThe Info object is being used in several data targetsu201D
My Questions:
i) Do I need to delete the data from all the data targets (where this info object is using)??
ii) Do I need to delete data only from the main info object (Zmaterial)? Is this single action enough?
Please suggest me which action I need to follow & What are the precautions need to take while changing the Display Attribute (product) into Navigational attribute of info object (Zmaterial).

Only in case of key figures we cannot change it from display to navigational.
If the info object is a characteristics then in the General tab of the info object if you select 'attribute only' then the iobj would be a display attribute only. If you leave it unmarked then you can use the iobj as a navigational atribute.
I am sure you know that these settings only mean if a IOBJ can be used as display or navigational. To use it as a navigational within another object you will have to change the settings from 'DIS' to 'NAV' for the said info object in the 'Attributes' tab of its parent info object.
Further if you use the parent info object in any data target / infio provider you will have to further mark the info object as 'navigational' while defining the attrbute of the said data target / info provider. The info object gets displayed in the data target / info provider attribute properties as 'parent IOBJ_info object'

Using Transient Property as display-property

Hi,
is transient property should not be used as display-property in item descriptor? we were using it in ATG 9.2 somehow it is not working in ATG 10.2.
if we use transient property as display property in BCC we are getting exception that

So i have modified StringConcatenatePropertyDescriptor to extend GSAPropertyDescriptor, now getting different exception..

Displaying more than one display attribute in a tree component problem

Hi,
I have a parent table and child table, I want to display a parent table's display attribute and below that i want to display child tables two display attributes (while defining the rule for a tree compoment).
What i'm getting is :
I can able to display more than one "display attributes" for my parent table, but when i'm trying to implement that for my child table under my parent table. I am only geting the blank folder structure without names.
For example:
Parent table: Deparetment(id, name)
child table: Employee(id, firstName, lastName)
What i want is:
In a Tree:-
(Department name): software below that i want display both (firstName and LastName) stephen Fleming
for that employee.

Problem extracting, query with display attributes, in RSCRM_BAPI.

Has anybody experienced that problem?
When I execute the extract, the job cancels itself after 2 minutes. Sometimes even shuts down the DEV server.
There is no Dump in ST22.
The only error I get is:
TRUNCATE TABLE "/BIC/0CZTEST" where ZTEST is the extractor
But when I execute the extract with the same query without the display attributes it runs just fine.
Help please...

Check Table("/BIC/0CZTEST") using T-code "SE14".
If necessary, drop and creat, again.

Keyfigure display attribute not visible in the report

Hi,
I am facing a problem. I have keyfigures as display attributes in my master infoobject. Earlier I was able to see those display keyfigure attributes in my query and was able to use them in it. After that, few changes were done to the master infoobject (addition of few attributes and deletion of few - but none of them were what I was using). Now after the change, when I open the query in design mode, it gives me error saying that it can't access those attributes (only keyfigure display attributes) and repairs the query (removes those attributes). All the other attributes are visible.
I have already tried rsrv for the master infoobject (corrected the error) and rsrt for the query. After that also it doesn't solve the problem.
What could be the reason? Any pointers would be highly appreciated.

Display keyfigure attributes are visible in the reports because I was using and running them in the reports before the change in that particular master infoobject. Only, keyfigures maintained as attributes can't be made navigational (hence can't be used for drilldown). Its only after the change, there is this error.
I had also checked the authorization for Keyfigure earlier, which I have. Therefore its not the problem.

How to display attributes for a CHAR in the Excel file (BEx)?

Hi all,
I knew that I can display attributes for a CHAR (ex: attributes - address, phone#, zip code for CHAR-Customer) when I run Web- based report. But I cannot find this function after I export the file to Excel. In the context menu for excel file, I only see 'select filter'(but no display attribute values), drilldown, properties (for query). Is it something that I cannot have in the excel file for the BEx report?

In fact, I found that I can move IOs in the 'rows', 'column', and 'free CHARs' and so do end user by using 'local view'. That means every one can change the query definition, right?
For your last question, that was what I want to know. How can I prevent 'end users' change those query definitions? Is it about 'role' setting, right? But I am not the one to do 'role' setting.

APD query key date with variable for time dependent MD display attributes

Hello,
In a APD I use a query as a source with a query key date that is filled with a customer exit variable.
When I run the query as a user, the time dependent MD display attributes look fine. However, when I use the query in an APD, I get no values for the time dependent display attributes.
Any suggestions?

Controlling access to display attributes that are also characteristics

In earlier versions of BI an authorization relevant characteristic (such as profit center) could be secured in navigation but could be made visible universally by creating a second authorization object for the characteristic and granting * access for the second object and restricted access for the first. As long as one authorization object for the characteristic had * access the display attribute was visible but one could still control navigation and selection. Now that authorization objects are no longer created what mechanism would be used to allow restrictions on navigation while keeping access open for a display attribute?
For those that are having trouble seeing where this might be relevant: consider a cube that has both consolidation unit and a profit center characteristics that are both authorization relevant. They are not exactly orthogonal for business reasons (especially at the node level) but someone who is reporting on the profit center characteristic may want to see what consolidation unit that the profit center belongs to. The consolidation unit is also a display attribute of the profit center but the user may not be authorized for the entire consolidation unit. Without authorization he cannot see the display attribute. There is no authorization issue for the attribute display but there is a restriction for the consolidation unit as a whole. The user can summarize over the CU ( only. How is this allowed in the latest versions that use analysis authorizations and not authorization objects?

I'm using an af:query that uses an LOV for a PERSON_ID column, with an EMPLOYEE view as the View Accessor.
Since the user experience may require the user to search for a particular employee, using either a "Combo Box with List of Values" or an "Input Text with List of Values" makes most sense, but those UI controls only display a the PERSON_ID when returning from the search pop-up. This is in contrast to using a Choice List, which would show, in addition to the original column (PERSON_ID), the selected Display Attributes (eg PersonID, FirstName, LastName).
It is possible to show the additional Display Attributes when using the "Combo Box with List of Values" or "Input Text with List of Values" controls for an af:query, and if so, how?

Hi user,
Take your base VO and create a transient attribute or an attribute derived from a reference entity as the display value (let's say "PerFirstName"). Then, create the list of values of employees on this attribute and set the return values "FirstName" > "PerFirstName" and "EmployeeId" > "PersonId". Define a view criteria to be used for your af:query component and add "PerFirstName" with '=' operator (this will render as a LOV).

Display attribute incorrectly reported as "not assigned" in BEX Analyser

Hi SCN
I have a simple BEX query on a master data infoobject which displays the object key and several display attributes. One of the attributes is often reported incorrectly as "not assigned" although the behaviour is erratic and can sometimes be correct from day to day. I have checked the master data table and there should be a value ... when I run the report in RSRT, the attribute is correctly reported !
I have checked the infoobject in RSRV for errors (all lights are green), deleted the cache and set the report to not use caching in RSRT but the attribute is still frequently "not assigned"
all very weird ... any thoughts ?

Is it possible to use transient VO to display LOVs.
I am able use static VO as a LOV
but I am unable to use Transient VO as LOV.
is there any issue with Transient VO.

Web Application: Display attribute in text element

Dear all,
we want to display an display attribute (0RESP_PERS as of 0COSTCENTER) in the header area of an web application. Therefore I tried to use an text element. I'm able to display the cost center itself, but haven't found the opportunity to display the related responsible person.
Any ideas?

I have the same requirement - display the cost center owner (attribute) of a cost center (characteristic) in a web template. I'm using NW2004s with the BI 7.0 front end tools.
