Use of BCT

Hi Experts ,
SAP provided business content for BW, we know that BC contains datasources, infocubes, ods objects, queries and more. And also we know that we can install and use BC for reporting. And sometimes we use other source systems like SAP r/3, flat file and others for reporting. What exactly i want to know in what situations we use SAP r/3 instead of using BC. If anyone can give me some realtime scenarios and explain where exactly this BCT fits in??Therotically i know that in most of the applications 70% development is done using BCT n 30% customization.

As you said BC contains infocube, ods, infosouce, etc. Whenever the client requirements comes, first we will check into Business content.
Let's take an example for sales company. The client wants to anlyse their sales for a particular year. First we will look into BC whether any cubes or ods availabe for to meet the client scienario or requirements. if it is ok, we will install it and do modification according to the requirements.
coming into SAP r/3.
SAP r/3 act as a Source system. let's take an example of sales company.Customer maintains its all transaction(like sales, purchasing,delivery) in R/3 system. Customer can create sales order , purchase order etc and all the data maintained in R/3 as table.
If client wants to analyse this r/3 data, they will upload tis data into bw and they will analyse.
if the data is availabe in excel(csv) file instead of r/3, they use flat file updation.

Block Change Trackin Performance

Hi,
I'm planning to use incremental backup with Block Change Tracking(BCT) enabled.
Well i see the good points of BCT like reducing network traffic and cpu cycles such that when RMAN checks for datafiles that has changed in block, it will use the BCT file instead of checking the datfile one by one.
Now it cannot yet implemented it because of this question?
"How is the performance hit of BCT?" If there is a block / blocks that are updated / changed, BCT will record it in the file, how much of the resources of the server will be used? Is it too much that it will cause slowness in daily transactions?"

Correct DataSource to load data into 0EMPLOYEE InfoProvider.

I am implementing BW (7.0) - HCM (ECC 6.0). We are implementing functional areas such as OM, PA, PY, Leave, Time, Work Pattern Management, EHS, LSO and Comeptencies. We are implementing using standard BCT (Business Content).
The most important InfoProvider I've noticed that would be used across almost all the functional areas is 0EMPLOYEE. Now I have noted that there are a couple of Standard DataSources that load data (mostly Full Updates) into 0EMPLOYEE as below:

Points to be noted are:
1) All the DataSources have PERNR (Personnel Number) in common that maps into 0EMPLOYEE (Employee Number) in BW along with various fields which makes sense.
2) Most of the InfoPackages have Full Update.
My question is... which DataSources am I supposed to use to load 0EMPLOYEE? If all the DataSources, then in which sequence should I use the DataSources during Go-Live so that it is best suited for the project? Does this also mean that the PERNR field comes from only one table in ECC so that I don't have to bother about the Full Updates in various InfoPackages for different DataSources?
Also, are there any DataSources that I might have missed for 0EMPLOYEE?

Hi,
Commonly I use 0employee_attr to get all data from HR infotypes, because when I want to add additionnal fields in 0employee_attr, I prefer focus on one datasource rather than managing several datasource.
But you can use any other datasources mentionned in your post to update data to 0employee infoobject.
In the HR BCT, 0employee is the main datasource that provide data from HR infotypes, but this datasource is only a full type.
You have 2 options :
1°) If your HCM manages alot of employee, you can face performance loading problems. So, most of the time people don't use 0employee_attr datasource, but create one customer datasource per infotype (delta enable via enddate). You will thus manage one DSO perdatasource to load the target infocube.
2°) If your HCM manages a range of employee which performance are OK, you can use 0employee_attr, and then use the standard BCT.
Load your data and check the performance.
The reason why performance of 0employee_attr is poor according to me is that the module function that extract data manage the "PROVIDE" function that align data from the several infotype according to begin and end date.
Form a BCT point of view you can use 0PAPA_C02 for headcount analysis and/or 0PA_C01 for heacount and action analysis. You can use these cubes and add addditionnal fields regarding to addintionnal information from your HR infotypes. In both cases, they build a historical view per month of employee situtation, that is very insteristing in HR reporting.

As for as i know,there is no standard methodology to test BW Queries.We do check Query data manually againest InfoProvider's data.
Execute the Query with some selections.go to LISTCUBE transaction,Provide InfoProvider name and execute it...Select the Keyfigures and characteristics which are there in the Query....If you have executed Query with any specific values,then here also provide same values and execute.This displays cube's data...You can cross check this data againest Query's data...
If you have any RKFs in Query,the try to view Cube's data according to that....
Copy the BCT Queries with different tech names and modify them according to Your requirements.in my experience,i have never used any BCT Queries.almost all Queries i work on are custom defiend ones.

BCT Activation

Hi ,
i am activating BCT cube s in BI 7.0.
i am using data flow befoer option.
it gives it gives to errors for every time.
Error1 : 0SOLD_TO_ODB_ MATCDS is not availbule.
Error2 :
Runtime Errors TIME_OUT
Short dump has not been completely stored (too big)
Short text
Time limit exceeded.
What happened?
The program "SAPLSEU2" has exceeded the maximum permitted runtime without
interruption and has therefore been terminated.
Error analysis
After a specific time, the program is terminated to make the work area
available to other users who may be waiting.
This is to prevent a work area being blocked unnecessarily long by, for
example:
- Endless loops (DO, WHILE, ...),
- Database accesses with a large result set
- Database accesses without a suitable index (full table scan)
The maximum runtime of a program is limited by the system profile
parameter "rdisp/max_wprun_time". The current setting is 600 seconds. If this
time limit is
exceeded, the system attempts to cancel any running SQL statement or
signals the ABAP processor to stop the running program. Then the system
waits another 60 seconds maximum. If the program is then still active,
the work process is restarted.

Hi PSR,
Error 1: It is appearing because the object 0SOLD_TO_ODB_ MATCDS is not avaialable in Delivered version. Just check if you need this object in your scenario. Uncheck the install checkbox for this object when you install the BI content and this error will not appear.
Error 2: This is appearing because you maximum runtime for the dialog work processor is exceeded. To avoid this select 'install in backgroud' from install menu.

How to customize standard BCT InfoCubes?

Hi gurus,
I am new to BI.I got one scenario like adding 2 new user defined InfoObjects into the cube along with standard business content infoobjects which i delivered with BCT InfoCube (eg:0PAPA_C01).Is it possible to use the same infocube enhance with 2 new InfoObject?. how can we customize the standard iinfocube?. is this recommanded?. or we need to use BCT infocube as a templet for zcube?.

Hi,
As said in the previous posts we can enhance the standard cubes, but is not recommonded, Better u make a copy of the stardard cube and do the necessary changes to this new cube.

Credit memo related Data not reflected in BCT Query

Hi Experts ,
If anyone can help me .
Problem : I have loaded data in 0SD_C03 for sales analysis. Everything is alright and all data except Credit Memo related data are showing . During the selection in query the C/D posting + Doc Categ + Net Value forms the output value for Credit memo but it is not showing . The SD doc categ has credit memo records in VBFA table . Now i don't understand why data related to Credit memo is not retrieved in the query . I am using the standard queries and std BCT objects only .If anyone have come across please share your experience .

Check in your Cube fact table whether you have entries with document category O - for credit memo
If not, ensure cube has the data and your query do not have any exclusion filter dor document category O. Check in PSA also, if not there your extractor is excluding the credit memo records

0HR_PA_PA_1 (Headcount) not found in BCT of our BI 7.0 Ehp1 System.

We are working on BI 7.0 Ehp1 system. Our system SP levels are as below:

However, I don't find 0HR_PA_PA_1 (Headcount) listed when I searched DataSources in Business Content of our BW System. I have been through a lot of threads on the forum and noticed most of the threads are fairly old. Not quite sure if to believe those versions.
When I checked with one of my friends who is on a lesser SP levels of BCT (BI_CONT     705     0001     SAPK-70501INBICONT     BI_CONT 705: Add-On Installation) as compared to us, he is able to see the same DataSource listed in his BCT which is a BI 7.0 system too.
I want to use this DataSource to load 0PAPA_C02 by sourcing data from BW Development and also pulling some data from 2 other DSOs.
However, my current challenge is to get this DataSource in our BI 7.0 System.
I am not sure what could have gone wrong. Any help is very much appreciated.

Note 336229 - Use of InfoCube 0PAPA_C02/InfoSource 0HR_PA_PA_1
Symptom
You want to use InfoCube 'Headcount' (0PAPA_C02) and the corresponding InfoSource 'Headcount' (0HR_PA_PA_1).
Even though you transferred the data from the Business Content, the transfer rules are not complete for the InfoSource, or DataSource 0HR_PA_PA_1 does not exist or is not complete.

Headcount, BW, OLTP, HR, extraction, non-cumulatives, SBIW, Business Content, activation, transfer
Reason and Prerequisites
The use of this content requires some manual advance activities.
Solution
Extraction of master data in the BW System as transaction data InfoSource:
InfoSource 0HR_PA_PA_1 is supplied by DataSource 0HR_PA_PA_1, which only exists in a BW System.The corresponding extractor reads the master data tables for InfoObjects Employee (0EMPLOYEE) and Person (0PERSON) and provides changes to these time-dependent attributes as non-cumulative value change.
The DataSource supports the 'Full Update' mode only. Extraction in delta mode would not reduce the extraction time since the determination of the delta needs extreme effort with this DataSource. For this reason, the delta mode was not implemented.
Note that the system only provides changes of person attributes if also employee master data exists for this person.
Do the following steps in your BW System:
1. Transfer the Business Content in the Administrator Workbench:
              Choose InfoCube 'Headcount' (0PAPA_C02), collect all objects with grouping 'Data flow before and after' and copy them from the Business Content afterwards.
              Check whether key figures 0ANSAL_NC / 0ANSAL_VC, 0HDFTE_NC / 0HDFTE_VC and 0HDCNT_NC / 0HDCNT_VC were activated in the process.In addition, InfoCube 0PAPA_C02 itself, InfoSource 0HR_PA_PA_1 and the respective update rules should be active.
2. Customizing of DataSource 0HR_PA_PA_1:
The following step is relevant to BW 2.1C only:
Because the extractor for this DataSource requires the activation of certain InfoObjects (and thus the existence of these data elements), the extractor can only be delivered in modules which must be activated manually.For this purpose, you must make modifications at two locations in function group RS_BCT_PA_EXTRACTION (removal of the respective comment characters for the activation of the Includes):
1. LRS_BCT_PA_EXTRACTIONTOP:old: * INCLUDE rs_bct_pa_extraction_top.new: INCLUDE rs_bct_pa_extraction_top.
2. RS_BCT_PA_GET_DATA:
old: * INCLUDE rs_bct_pa_get_data.new: INCLUDE rs_bct_pa_get_data.
In BW 3.0A, this is carried out automatically when activating the DataSource. As of BW 3.0A Patch 7 and BW 3.0B, this step is obsolete since programs are generated instead.

3. Replicate DataSource 0HR_PA_PA_1 in the Administrator Workbench / Source systems (your BW System as a source) - application component personnel admistration (PA-PA), and assign the DataSource to InfoSource 0HR_PA_PA_1.
Special features of InfoCube 'Headcount' (0PAPA_C02):
Compounding of InfoObjects and source systems is not supported.
First, execute the attribute change run in order to take into account master data which have already been loaded into the BW System but not yet activated.
For technical reasons (Non-cumulative method), the age or seniority fields cannot be supplied directly from the InfoSource.They must be modelled as virtual key figures and characteristics. The corresponding logic for these fields is not delivered until BW 3.0A.
All attributes of 0PERSON and 0EMPLOYEE must be time-dependent.
Maintenance of the validity slice (Transaction RSDV) for InfoCube 0PAPA_C02 after the first load of data:to-mode 'Fixed value' and '31.12.9998' as a date

Does pure activation of BCT DataSources decrease performance?

Hello,
if I just activate (all) datasources from BCT in an ECC system (without actually using them for data uploading to BW), does this decrease any performance in the ECC? Or is it performance wise neutral as the activation only creates some metadata?

Hi,
keep in mind, that the Data for BW is taken out of the DeltaQueue.
Before the Data achieves the Deltaqueue it is either stored in VBDATA or else in another QRFC-Queue (I call it extraction queue). From where its coming into the Deltaqueue is controlled by the method maintained in the logistics-extractor.
The VBDATA is the table where ALL POSTING RECORDS ARE STORED!
So when you have activated the extractors for logisitcs, all posts of documents in the system (e.g. Sales docs ...) run through the VBDATA as well as the V3-Posts of these documents for R/3.
If the V3-Programs are not scheduled, there will be an overflow to the table and the system is dead, means none can post any documents.
This can only occur if unseralized V3 is chosen.
Delta Queued writes data into the QRFC-Queue.
As long as you haven't run the V3-Programm it will stay there.
The V3-Programm takes the data and writes it to the DeltaQueue for BW.
If no successful init has taken place, the data is gone then.
The request from BW only takes the data out of the delta queue, not out of the extraction queue I've descirbed earlier.

HR BCT Extractors no fecthing any Data.

I am using the follwoing HR BCT extractors. I facing problem in extraction data.
1. 0HR_PA_OS_1 : When I am checking this DS in RSA3, it is not extracting any data even though data is available in tables HRP1000, HRP1001, PA0007 and HRP1007.
2. 0HR_PT_2 : When I am checking this DS in RSA3, it is not extracting any data even though data is available in tables PA0001, PA0007, PA0202, PA0203,PA2010 and PCL2.
( Configuration side there are reporting time types maintained in SBIW- Time management as per R/3 config )
Any suggestions.

Use
If the delta process has not yet been initialized, but you want to test the delta upload, you have the option of simulating the initialization.
This runs the help entries in all the required tables in BW and in the source system, without loading any data from the source system.
In the monitor, you get a message telling you that a record has been loaded. The initialization-simulation request appears in all the data targets in which an update has taken place. However, this request contains only help entries. The simulation does not update any data in the data targets.
Dependencies
After you have tested the delta upload in this way, initialize the delta process.
Note
You are able to simulate the initialization of the delta process for extractors available as of PlugIn 99 (A), that is, BW-BCT 2.0.

Dear Gurus,
do we have all objects needed for a full upload in BCT 7.0? that we can activate
same like we have the whole upload chain in 3.5
how you know on RSA1 if the DataSource, infoSource or other objects are 3.5 or 7.0 version?
they are preceded by a white square?
all BI objects can be in both versions?
how you see what version they belong?

Is there a reason why you want to use Edge Web Fonts with Adobe Muse?
Assuming you wish to improve typography of your web pages, you should know that Muse is fully integrated with Typekit. This allows you to access and apply over 500 web fonts from within Muse. Here's how you do it:
Select a text component within Muse, and click the Text drop-down.
Select Add Web Fonts option, to pop-open the Add Web Fonts dialog.
Browse and apply fonts per your design needs.

How can multiple family members use one account?

My children have iphones, ipads, ipods and mac books, my problem is how do you use home sharing with the devices and not get each others data. My Husband just added his iphone to the account and got all of my daughters contacts. I understand they could have there own accounts but if i buy music on itunes and both children want the same song, I don't feel i should have to pay for it twice. Is there away we can have home sharing on the devices and they can pick and choose what they want? and is this icloud going to make it harder to keep their devices seperate?
