Use of context on Window level

Hi all,
I have one query regarding context on window level. What is the use of context on window level and where do we use Inbound and outbound plugs on Window level?
Please suggest.

Hi Sanket,
The inbound and outbound plugs at window level required if you want to override the existing default view in that particular window for example from some other component you want to to use a view in a particular window of some other component and the view you are looking for is not the default view
so you need to have some logic in your window controller method to define the view that you want to be as the default view. and for the logic you might need some context to be chnaged at the componennt controller level and you can access that context nodes from window level becuase they are accessible.

This is not "EVENT" .. it is "EVENTS"

What determines whether the Label name and/or Caption appears in the context help window but in other cases, both the label and caption appear in the context help window?

I am trying to polish an application, and find that I cannot seem to reliably control which of the label or caption text appears in the context help window because I don't understand what rules are in place to determine which should appear. It seems like if I reate a named constant, then use it's right click menu command "Create Indicator" I get a control with only a Label (as long as I don't add a caption). This then appears in the context help window as the label name followed by the description text (after entering some description text). But if I add a caption, the label name is shown in bracket
s which is a 'feature' I would like to avoid, because I have certain controls where I would like to use a descriptive variable name on the block diagram side without using so much space on the front panel. It seems like there is no way to avoid showing the Label name in the context help for a control/indicator. Is this true?
I thought the purpose of having a seperate caption was to make the text that appears with a control programmatically controllable, but if that control is not extended to what appears in the context help window, it limits the usefulness of the caption and forces me to re-consider some Label names. However, the problem goes deeper than that because then even when I make the label and caption exactly the same, or if I delete (via a select caption text-backspace or select caption text- delete key .. sequence) the caption for a control, the label name in the context help window still appears in square brackets!
Can I have complete control over the context help fo
r a particular control (or has anyone found a third-party context help solution that functions compatibly with LabVIEW 7 in a built application that they will be so kind as to recommend?)

How do I fix redirects when using Firefox 30? Windows 8.1.

I get redirected and/or pop ups while using Firefox 30 with Windows 8.1. It began immediately with the downloading of said Windows 8.1, so I think it came with that download, and although I have run deep scans and even a pre-boot scan with Avast, plus a scan with IObit Anti Malware, I still get redirects and/or pop ups.
It is an intelligent redirect (context sensitive), but tries to get money from you. For example, I had tried to stop the pop ups [redirects, perhaps] with the pop up blocker likely built into Firefox, but Firefox Help led me instead to an 800 # that offered to connect remotely and fix my PC with Certified Techs as you will see in the chat below. It appeared to be a function of Firefox, not a redirect.
Just after the chat with the 800 outfit I opened FireFox and it went to the (default) url: start.mysearchdial.com/ and a string of more hash, which is possibly how the popups get propagated?
I went to mozilla via url and soon got encouraged to download new version, saying current one out of date. But it was going to download from: http://downloadsoftware.pw/download/firefox2/
So it is not only very intelligent, it is also resistant to a lot of software removal tools.
What might you suggest? I have not tried many of those tools yet.

MySearchDial should have an entry in the Windows Control Panel, but possibly also have its hooks into all your browsers.
Checking and cleaning that will take a few steps. I suggest starting here:
Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. Click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
Then, in Firefox, open the '''Add-ons page''' using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Finally, you can "mop up" remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
Are you able to rid yourself of it?

Performing Window Leveling operation on an Image

I need help for performing window leveling operation on an image. Which has to be triggered using Mouse Drag Event. I have been working on it for past 4days . I need help badly.

Intensity range is defined as Window & distance between the two ends is called Window width. Intensity of the Pixels above or below the window is mapped to balck or white.I hope i was clear.
By adjusting this we can adjust the Brightness & contrast of the Image.

Problems with text using Photoshop CC on Windows 8.1

I am using Photoshop CC on Windows 8.1. I get flickering on the screen as described by others. My main problem, however, is that when I try to use the text tool the layer goes completely black and I cannot see what I am typing or edit the text. I have tried updating my video card driver and my monitor driver. I have deleted the font cache file, I have tried using Photoshop without plug ins (I use Nic plug ins). The only thing that has worked is resetting the preferences by holding down alt+control+shift keys when starting photoshop. This allows me to enter text normally on one photograph and one only. Once I have completed that first photograph and load another I get the black layer. I desperately need help. If this continues I will have to cancel my membership as I was much better off using my Photoshop Elements 11 disc.
Any help will be very gratefully appreciated...............help seems to be very difficult to come by Adobe you make it very difficult for your customers!

Ok,I can appreciate that I may not have given enough information. You state that without proper system information nobody can help, but I need to know what information is needed. You also state that I should simply turn off hardware acceleration in the perfs. What does that mean? How do I do that? I have tried changing the GPU Drawing Mode to basic and it didn't work. Is this what you mean? You may be assuming a level of knowledge I do not have. From research I have done this seems to be a problem with windows 8.1 that Adobe have been aware of for about a year. I have followed all the online advice I have been able to find but nothing seems to be working.

I have an old (read ancient) Apple Laserwriter 12/640 PS laser printer - that still prints exceptionally well - that I want to print to using my PC (running Windows 7). Suggestions? While using Windows XP Pro, I used PC MacLan's version 9.01 and it worked beautifully. PC Maclan is no longer in business. Windows 7, however, doesn't even recognize any Apple printers in any of its lookups. Suggestions?

The LaserWriter 12/640 PS is a PostScript Level 2 and PCL5 printer with support for LPD (http://support.apple.com/kb/ta21876). How is the printer connected today? An external cable adapter (such as the Apple Ethernet Twisted-Pair Transceiver Model M0437) would allow Ethernet. Providing that an appropriate printer driver can be found (it may be worth checking whether a universal driver or a driver for a similar HP printer could be used), it should not be impossible to set up LPR printing under Windows 7.

Context Help window is not displaying any information in Stand Alone App

The context help window displays the vi description, as desired) when running in the development environment. However after building the Stand Alone app, while the I can open the context help window using Ctl-H or the front panel menu Help , the help window in empty. The mouse cursor changes to a "hand" while hovering over the icon pic in the upper right hand corner of the Front Panel but does not invoke any change in the help window.
I am using the same PC for development and check out of the Stand Alone app.
Any ideas out there?

Mike,
Yes, you should be able to zip it or just change the extension and we can change it back. In the mean time I have replicated what you are talking about with a simple executable. However, I think this might be expected behavior. After all, your executable is not a VI anymore. You can also make a product suggestion to have this changed.

How to ensure "show context help" window is displayed on startup

Hello All,
I'm in process of preparing an application installer to be built, and am wondering if there's a way to ensure the context help window is presented to the user by default when they start up the application? I couldnt find any properties, methods or setup configurations that allow this to happen.

The context help window is an item of the Development Environment.
What you could do is an mouse enter, and mouse leave event registring for all controls (VI->controls[]) and use the tip-strip/description to output to a window.

Using detect context

hi All
Currently i'm working on the universe design with teradata as back end. I worked on the model and solved the loops some with aliases and contexts. I tried using 'detect contexts' for solving some loops but it does not work properly. I included all the joins and cardinalities as in the Physical data model and aliased the tables where it was decided to use them. We do not have any reporting requirements yet to define the contexts properly
My questions is Does detect context work all time and do any one have any experience of using with 3NF as back end?
any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks a lot for your thoughts and I agree giving a blanket statement like "it does not work properly" does not give us much to play around with
From my experience, I have seen that the "Detect Context" feature works pretty well for a dimensional model. The problem arises when you have a normalized model, sometimes with 100s of tables which I believe was the case mentioned by the gentleman above. I say this because of a couple of reasons. Firstly, I have seen most people setting-up the cardinalities through the tool and not by themselves. I tend to set them myself since a lot of times when you start developing your sementic layer you do not have true representative data in the tables - some lookup tables tend to have more values than the fact table! Now when the Designer fires of a couple of select statements to get the row count and decide cardinality there is a good chance that it will get it wrong.
Secondly and most importantly, from my experience if the developer understand the model and the business logic, setting-up contexts manually gives them a higher level of confidence. I have worked with universes that are based on 3NF models (which often is the case if you are building on a Teradata LDM) and I agree it can be a real challenge setting all the contexts manually but at the end of the day it gives me not only ture understanding of the entire layer but makes my work even easier when in future new tables are added in the model and I can quickly figure out which context will it go in or if I need to create a new one.

Context help window not showing up while running a VI

Hello,
When I press control+h in LabView while in edit mode, the context help window shows up fine.
But when I run the VI or run the .exe file, I press control+h and nothing happens.
Is there anything I'm missing? Like a configuration.

Can I use iCloud on two Windows 7 PC's? (same apple ID)

Hi!
I am a new user of Apple products and would like to use iCloud on two Windows PC's to upload Pictures and be able to see them on iPad. I manage to setup one computer and upload a few pictures for test and it worked, however when I setup computer number 2, nothing happens after I put the pictures on the required location to upload.
Please let me know if this is feasible and if is not, what do I need to do to enable computer number 2 as the one to use and disable using computer 1 (the one working so far)

You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher. After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using your iCloud ID on your PC.

What format for my external drive allows use with Mac and Windows?

I got an external hard disk (1 tr) and i want to used it for my windows and mac, i read i can have two partitions one for mac and one for windows, but i dont really want to have two parts, and I read i can format it by fat32 and i can write and read on both os, is that true?
I want to use it for movies, os backups, and files..
Is it true that i can only save files up to 4 GB when the format is fat32?
please advise..

It this case you would need to to go to "Disk Utility" on mac and select 3 partions which will be under the Parition Layout in my screen shot below. "Current" is grayed out that will drop down select 3 partitions and make one NTFS, second Mac OS Extended, third FAT32. Using the FAT32 for both Mac and Windows but the files have to be under 4GB each.

I strongly recommend having an external drive dedicated solely for TimeMachine. You could partition the drive but if something goes wrong you risk losing the data on both partitions. Should you decide to go ahead with splitting the drive for two different uses you’ll need to partition the drive either using the Mac’s built in Disk Utility program or Windows utility. I believe the built in Windows disk utility program will destroy the current partition and erase the data that’s on it - I use a third party Windows disk utility program for partitioning and it allows for non-destructive partitioning but warns to back up data first just in case. Apple’s Disk Utility can do non-destructive partitions but I don’t recall every trying to do a non-destructive partition on a disk originally formatted for Windows using it. Again - back up that data just in case.
Finally, your TimeMachine drive should be at least 1.5 times (I prefer 2 times) the size of the data you expect to be backing up a year or two from now. In other words, if you currently are using 50GB of your computer’s drive but expect to begin purchasing Mac software to replace software on your Windows computer and if you expect to be putting photos, music, and other data on it you might expect that two years from now you’ll have 100GB of stuff on the drive. So a 200GB partition is the smallest size you’d want. TM’s backup scheme keeps multiple copies of data as it changes so the extra room is important for this scheme.

HT6114 Can't save downloads to existing files?? In the "save as" box I use the little "search" window to locate where I want to put a new file but when found the location file does not operate. And dropdown menu says "save to online acct"

When I try to save an emailed-to-me document to an existing file on my hard drive by using the little "search" window the recipient file is inactive and does not open to recieve the document I want to save (nothing happens when I click on it and it's a subdued color).
If I click through my files manually by starting on the desktop and working my way to the location of the recipient file I can save.
This takes a lot of time and is DRIVING ME CRAZY!
Please tell me I've just missed something obvious that can be fixed in a jiffy!?

OMG!! It also happens when I try to open a file from inside a program like Adobe Reader. If I use the little corner search window all the files are inoperable.
