Use of E66 in Audi A6

Have my E66 since about 2 months. In the beginning everything worked fine with the bluetooth connection in my A6 (they call their communication system MMI):calls got in an out and my address book ( syncronised with Outlook) was shown in the cars display too. However, since about two weeks I cant get my address book in the car's display anymore. I don't remember having changed any setting or software. I did reset the cars settings and the I reset the bluetooth connections, but that did not help.Did anyone have a similar problem ( and even better: a solution) for that? I asked Audi getting the answer that I think all of you would expect: Talk to Nokia...
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Try quitting the active connection and starting a connection on Google Maps first, the next time. This is not abnormal. And are you sure that you used the same provider and were able to do the same thing without closing connections in the other devices ? In my experience, this is network related.

E66 with Audi SAP Bluetooth Car Kit

Hi
I've been using my E66 with my Audi A6 SAP car kit for two weeks now. Unlike my E51 which works fine the E66 connects ok then after about 1 or 2 minutes disconnects. After another 30 seconds or so it reconnects to the car kit. It seems that if I make or receive a call during the first minute then the E66 will remain connected. If I don't it will enter the disconnect / connect cycle.
Is anybody else having the same problem?

The generic problem you have with Car Kits made for Car Manufacturers and phones is that both companies are very inclined not to talk to one another, and when you try and find out why its failing each will blame each other.
The problem may quite probably be resolved by a software update, either in the phone or the car.
You can check the Nokia site to see if an update is available for your phone.
The Audi update will have to be done by your local Audi Centre, which can be tricky to do to say the least, because they tend to stall, and give a self-righteous attitude towards the customer trying to tell them how it is.
I'd check with a few local Audi Centres.
The list of compatible handsets, is always out of date, and you get phones like the 6230 etc they dont really pay much attention to it.
I found that my S3 kit which is not SAP, would disconnect when my phone left the range of my WLAN, sometimes if I restarted the phone before I got it, it wouldn't disconnect at all.
I don't get it at all with my E71.

Help with Live!Drive IR + Which Sound Card to Use (Live! vs Audi

Hey guys-- Recently a friend and I started recording music, my neighbor gave me a few cards, and this Li've!Dri've IR.
First, he gave me a Li've! 5. (SB0060) and an Audigy (SB0090) Card. The Li've!Dri've IR (SB000) isn't even listed on products on the Creative American Site. Instead, it is only listed on the HK (Honk Kong) website.
However, neither on the HK site, or the American site, can I find drivers for the dri've. When I say drivers, I honestly don't know if it has item specific drivers or if it functions without them (like a USB hub) but I am missing all of the Creative Suite (Play Center, remote, etc..) The American Site has a bunch of driver UPDATES but not the actual package for the bundled software... I only got 5. drivers off of there. I also have a remote that came with it.Additionally, I was wondering if I could (or should) use the Audigy Card over the 5. card.. I tried to look on the site to compare the differences but they are both so old it was hard to tell. I read that both cards would work with the AudigyDri've but I'm not sure about the backwards capabilities to work with the Li've!IR Dri've.ANY help at all would be wonderful.Note: I am running SONAR 4. if that makes any difference. Li've!dri've works with both Li've! and audigy card. You will need to get the installation CD to install all the necessary files to works with the li'vedri've. What they have on the support pages are only updates and not standalone installation. I suggest you contact their support and get from them a installation CD. If not, I have the iso of the CD and it's 540MB. If you have ftp then I can upload it to you.

IPhone5 in IOS 8.0.2 won't work with Audi A3 8V AMI

I have a new Audi A3 8V with Audi Music interface (AMI). I use the AMI for music/podcasts etc. from the iPhone5 to the car. On IOS 7 it all worked perfectly and the car did recognize the iPhone immediately. Now i updated the iPhone to IOS 8.0.2 and the AMI won't work, or works a little.
Sometimes the car won't recognize the iPhone5, and when it does, it does take ages before it starts playing a podcast or some music. When it work, some of the steeringwheel buttons won't work anymore with the iPhone5 on AMI.
I use this AMI cable: Audi AMI 4F0 051 510 AD (Green)
I did tested also a iPhone5s on IOS7 and that worked perfectly. So ít must be the IOS 8.0.2 update that is the cause of the problems. Is there a way to fix the problem myself? Or is it just waiting for a new update of IOS, and hope all the problems are gone?

Apparently it's still being qualified and they need to see if a firmware update will be needed... so unfortunately get ready for some rounds of finger pointing while the dust settles.

E66 Music Player gets stuck and end of some tracks

Hi,
I'm trying to use my E66 as a music player when I work out, but it gets to the end of some (but bizarrely not all) tracks and in the last 5 or 6 seconds will start looping the same short (.5sec) piece of a track, and will continue to do that after the time has hit 0 and not move on to the next song. Some tracks seem to be ok, but others don't. The player and the phone haven't crashed - I can move to the next track by clicking the skip track button, or just pausing and playing again. The music is stores on a MicroSD, mostly in MP3 format if that helps anyone diagnose the problem. It's driving me nuts - can anyone help??!

Usually you get a dialog asking if you want to resume from where you started off, or play from the beginning if it was played on the machine before. If you aren't, it might be hiding behind your player window. Try to reduce its size to see if it is hiding. If you've never played those discs on your computer before from any other vendor, and this a machine you bought from Apple, dust might have gotten on the lense in the drive to cause this problem. Take it in for service in that event.

Nokia E66 three finger reset

hey, i just bought a used nokia e66 from someone.
my phone service provider is a different provider than this phone is programmed to work with.
ive tried doing the 3 finger deep reset, and even the *# whatever numbers it was reset. and the phone isnt responding to them in any way.
after the 3 finger reset, it just starts up normally and tells me my sim isnt recognized.
im located in israel, is it possible that this reset is done differently here? any ideas? thnks

Provided that you kept * 3 green keys depressed whilst powering on until Nokia "Shaking hands" logo appears device will have been reset to factory settings, but this has no bearing upon whether device is SIM locked to another provider.

Nokia E66 Cable Connection Error

Hi,
Am Using Nokia E66-1(08) ( RM-343) with the firmware version 410.21.010
I have a problem with connecting my mobile to PC via cable. The cable is working fine. ( I have checked it by connecting the other mobiles)
When I connect the cable, It asks me to select the options such as "Mass Storage", "PC-Suite" etc. But once I select "PC-suite" from the available options, mobile doesn't get connected to the PC. I cannot see the USB connection symbol in the right top side of my mobile.
Can anyone help me on this.
Should I go for repairing the connection port of my mobile?
OR It mite work with a firmware update\re-installation ?
But again, is the cable connection port of my mobile not working? But it detects that cable is connected, because when I connect the cable, it asks for the type of connection I want to make...
Plzzzz help me out.

Help!!! e66 short circuiting?

Hi there,
I was working and using my e66 perfectly until about a month ago. What happened was that a couple seconds after getting to the main screen upon opening the phone, the camera function would automatically start, putting the phone in camera mode. Then it would be constantly revert back from camera mode to the main ``desktop` screen, preventing me from being able to do anything else. It would also go to the email inbox and back waiting for me to type a message. I tried all resets including the hard reset, removed sim, memory cards as well-no luck.
Any ideas? Does this sound like a short circuit?

Maybe problem is from the keypad. does this happen when keypad is locked too?!

Does the latest Ipod Classic use the same charging pins as the earlier versions?

Does the latest Ipod Classic use the same charging pin positons as the earlier versions as I want to use it in my Audi where my 5th gen Nano will play but not charge as the pin configuration for charging changed from that of the earlier models.

If your 5th gen nano doesn't change, then a new iPod Classic will not either.
The "change" was that older iPods used firewire to charge the iPod. But that's 12volts (the same voltage as a car's battery). Then along came charging by USB, which is 5volts. So car manufacturers who were on the ball, introduced electronics to drop the 12v car battery voltage to 5v and put that 5v on the appropriate USB pins. (I would hope, that by now, every car manufacturer has sorted this out, but of course that doesn't help anyone with an older model car.)
The incredibly obvious - to anyone with technical knowledge - was that one day, Apple would stop the 12v charging method on newer models of iPod. But somehow, a lot of manufacturers of devices that charge iPods failed to see this. (It really was incredibly obvious, believe me!)
It wasn't just car manufacturers who were caught out by this, so were Docking Station devices. I know of one make, where the manufacturer recalled the ones still in shops so that they could re-work them to charge using the 5v USB pins.
In my car, made around 2006, I had an external device fitted so that I could plug my iPod into the car stereo through the Dock Connector. But hey, guess what? That device will charge my iPod Classic, but not my iPod Touch.
A long-ish answer, but hopefully it not only answers the question, but tells you why too.

I'm using nokia E66 RM-343 , which is running the firmware version 510.21.009.
I know , nokia dropped support for symbian platform and currently working on wp8.
Will there any new firmware release for E66 ?

K...But the real prblm is, my phones previous firmware version was 410.xx.xx. And i updated it to current available ver 510.21.009.
After update , i noticed some prblmz, camera settings restore each time when using camera,
And also the main thing is the GPS. My GPS worked fine with firmware ver 410.xx.xxx . Before location lock within 30 sec or even less than a minute, but after update it struggles to get a fix on location even after 20 min. I used ovi maps, google maps, but it does not giving me the correct location. I hope if i can downgrade to previous ver , what can i do ??

E66 - System Error

Hi, I am using Nokia E66 almost a month. I keep having "System Error" whenever I enable WLAN scanning on the standby screen. When "System Error" occur, there's no way I can recover it except Power Off. When Power on again, memory card seems to be not detected. So I have to take out the memory card and click OK on the memory card card removal alert. Once insert back the card, everything back to normal.
Did any of you having similar problem? I suspect memory card problem.
Firmware version: 102.07.81 (12-07-2008)

Hi,
If everything seems fine without the memory card, would you please insert it to a PC and run a chkdsk (or an equivalent if you use an OS other than Win).
If that doesn't help, maybe you should try to "move" the system files/folders (those created by the symbian system) on the memory card to the computer, and try again.
Sometimes when system files / system settings related files get corrupted on the card, problems occur.
Hope your card and phone are OK...

How tos check my Map status?

I am using Nokia E66. I want to update the latest maps to my cellphone. How to I check my current maps is the latest and what country that I already had in my cellphone? What I can see now is my maps version is v2.0 w22 b04. Please help..Thanks!

There is no link you can use. The only way to confirm unlocking is to try a SIM from a carrier other than the one your iPhone was locked to.

In Messages Menu > Preferences > General Section there is an AppleScript option at the bottom.
In earlier Messages and iChat apps there was a separate Alerts pane that meant you could link a specific Sound to a specific Action within a Buddy list.
This mean that a script (Auto Accept) was written by Apple that could be used for Text Invites, Audi Only and Video invite and File Sharing was included.
The script is still written for this but can be applied in that General Section (it seems it is aimed at the "Message Received" setting for sound higher up that pane)>
Check whether the Auto Accept is On and turn it Off (set to None) if it is.

Communication Centre Memo Dates 1 day different fr...

I am using Nokia E66, and PC suite 7.1.18.0, windows xp service pack 2, phone firmware is 110.07.126 (03-10-08 Latest) RM-343
When I use Nokia communication centre, the dates of any memos i have on the phone show up as a day earlier in communication centre. So if I have a memo on my phone for today (start & end date as 4/2/09) it shows up in PC suite as on 3rd Feb and the start and end date show as 3rd Feb.
It very odd, and inconvienient
Also if I create a new memo in communication centre for today (4th) with a start and end date as the 4th once it has updated on the phone it shows on the phone as a start day as 4th but an end date as 5th. On the communication centre it still shows as 4th & 4th
Can anyone help with this problem?

On the specific subject of meeting time changes, when moving from one time zone to another, I have decided to turn off the option Network Operator Time, under Settings\Date & Time and change the time manually when I travel between Spain and England. The changing of appointment times because one changes time zone strikes me as a completely unthought-out piece of design. When users are quoted departure and arrival times by an airline, they are given the times that are effective locally regardless of timezone. They don't need to have these changed. I can imagine users missing flights as a result of this bit of nonsense. Previous phones I have had, with automatic operator time correction, did not tinker with appointments as well! I hope someone from Nokia takes this to heart. (user of MS Outlook, Windows XP latest release and the Nokia N73).
