Exception messages are generally useful to initimate / inform u of any discrepancy arised during any transaction related to planning i.e. for eg EM like start date in past, messages related to BOM etc
Based on exception messages, you can easily change any materials which requires to be reprocess manually.
They EM's are maintained under groups. These groups are defined in SPRO > Production > MRP > Evaluation > Exception groups
Under these groups there are individual EM's which u can view from MD06 also

When catching Exceptions, is/should it be necessary to look at the message String for deciding what action should be taken or is the message just for humans?
What is the generally accepted use of Exception messages - user messages, or for deveopers and program parsing?

Exceptions generally contain some kind of 'useful' message.
As we are developing our programs we, as developers, might be able to use this message to help diagnose problems.
But once we've finished development and come to deploy our program we will, of course, be catching all possible Exceptions so that the user does not get thrown out of the program in a very undignified manner.
When catching these Exceptions, what 'should' be done with it?
Wrap it up as a neat little Error message for the user?
Or are they there for programs to 'read' themselves and decide what to do next depending upon the potentially dynamic message String?

In addition, when you start thinking about parsing exception messages to further determine the facts behind the exception, it makes me wonder if you aren't forgetting to check your variables to further determine the problem, and also to take advantage of defining your own custom exceptions to further refine your handling of the errors that are unique to your program.
Let me give a cheesy (and purely conceptual) example to describe what I mean.
Your program is simulating cooking pizza's, let's say. At the end of the baking process, you catch an array index out of bounds exception as a basic beginning.
Now, upon finding something unexpected wrong with the array of pizzas that you were expecting from the oven (within the catch block), you check for the conditions that help you refine your understanding of what went wrong.
So, you test 'was the array null?' ...which means nothing at all came out of the oven, in which case you throw your custom "OvenWayToHotException", with a warning for the cook to turn down the heat. If the array was NOT null, but just had less values than you expected ...you can then throw your "PizzaLeftBehindInOvenException", with a warning for the cashier to go check the oven because someone forgot a pizza inside. These further refined exceptions are then thrown up the chain to the portion of your code that presumed to cook the pizzas properly before giving them to the customer.
In the end, the message to either �check the oven for missing pizzas� or �apologize to the customer while they wait for you to redo their whole order� will be a lot more informational than �ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException at method cookPizzas()�
I realize this might be a cheesy example, but maybe it demonstrates a technique for using base exceptions as a beginning point for determining programmatically what went wrong, and then handling it from there. Further inspection of variables is more likely how your program will figure out what went wrong rather than parsing the message in the rare case that it contains unique information. You, who wrote the program, usually know exactly what it means when certain groups of variables are found in certain states. Exceptions are a way to avoid doing a bunch of unnecessary tests until you get an indication that these tests are actually required in the first place.
Of course, having said that, you are also free to be creative when you design code ...so if what you are doing works better than any other approach you can think of ...then using any idea you can cobble together is probably better than throwing the program in the trash bin, wouldn't you say?

I am not able to solve the above issue for last couple of days.

I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.4.0 Release 2
1. Using Jdev I built one small Web Service with two methods.
        While testing the Webservice...
               I passed User Id as Parameter and it successfully return the values (user id, user name and description) from fnd_user table
2. I created another application to consume the web service i created.
               1. I added the webservice SOAP and added the method.
               2. Created a jsf page and drag and drop the parameter and return values to the jsf page.
3. While executing the created jsf page I received the error message as below
"oracle.jbo.NoDefException: JBO-29114 ADFContext is not setup to process messages for this exception. Use the exception stack trace and error code to investigate the root cause of this exception. Root cause error code is JBO-25058. Error message parameters are {0=Attribute, 1=UserName, 2=UserName}"
Even I know that this issue is repeated one in our forum, I was not able to solve this issue.

The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2013-04-30T16:36:52). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Client does not

Interesting db mail issue. If i click send test mail from sql mgmt studio, it works fine, but when i execute a SP to send a mail, it fails. One thing I noticed is that the "LastModified" column in the mail log shows the domain account when a test
mail was sent from mgmt studio, but show "sa" when the SP was used to send mail.
This is from SQL 2012, did not see this in sql 2008, looks like 2008 always used the service account. any ideas ?

I also use SQL Server 2012. I send a test email through SQL Server Management and the last modified By “sa”.
If you used stored procedure to send a test email. Please use the command below:
EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail
@profile_name = 'Adventure Works Administrator',
@recipients = '[email protected]',
@body = 'The stored procedure finished successfully.',
@subject = 'Automated Success Message' ;
I can both send test email through SQL Server Management Studio and SP. Make sure you have the right profile. Since you could send test mail via SQL Server Management Studio, please try again to send it via SP.

Is there a report to track the exception messages after a MRP run ?

We have a scenario at our client site where MRP run is not optimized to the fullest.
The planners are not trained on how to interpret those exception messages.
They are not trained on how to reschedule / expedite planned orders resulting from an MRP run.
Is there a report out in SAP that keeps track of
1) History of number of exception messages by type ( Expedite/Reschedule/Cancel)
2) History of number of exception messages that were acted on or ignored by the planner.
This is to create metrics on the usage of MRP exception reports by planners.

The exception messages are dynamic and time dependant. You cannot have history of exception message.. If your user is feeling difficult to use standard MRP reports. Create a new report using a function module MD_STOCK_REQUIREMENTS_LIST_API
It gives all MRP data including exception messages.

I'd like to know whether you can build successfully in your local machine with MSBuild. You have to build succeed with MSBuild beore you can build with TFS Build since TFS build use MSBuild as its default compiler.
From the error message, you might build with wrong platform for your project. Please check if the build platfrom is proper. If you have customization of your build process template, it would be better to elaborate the reproduce steps and customization details.

And this is the only way to contact with them, because they could use Skype only in overseas. BUT I don't need new friend from other unknow Skype member. I keep blocked all unknow spammers in every day. No, I can easily MANUALLY delete the messages. I would prefer if I didn't have to do it twice, tho. Once on the mail server and once on the phone.
What I think the phone needs to do is, when it checks the POP, anything NOT there should be removed locally. I think you are correct on POP; the phone will poll the mx (mail exchanger) and the mx will pass off the messages to the phone. The phone then keeps ALL of that unitl you manually delete it.
If, say, I remove a message from the mx, I would like the phone, when next polls, to see that that particular message isn't on the server anymore and remove it locally.
Perhaps it's just me but if I delete the message on the mx itself, via my ISP's webmail interface, I really don't want to have to remove it again from my phone.

Please help. I was trying to remove a SQL 2012 SP1 two node clustered instance using setup (Mantenance -> Remove Node)
I started by doing this on passive node (and was successful) but when I ran setup on active node just before finishing successfully I got this error:

I noticed that SG1DB instance was removed on both nodes but on Failover Cluster Manager -> Services and Applications the SQL server instance for SG1DB is still there. So I tried to delete it but got the error:
Failed to delete SQL Server SG1DB. An error was encountered while deleting the cluster service or
application SQL Server SG1DB. Could not move the resource to available storage. An error occured
while moving the resource BCK_SG1DB to the clustered service or application Available Storage
Any ideas why it failed or how could I delete the SQL server instance from Clauster?

not be create but working fine from 13 and so on...

1)check datetime servers --> I checked datetime for all SP Severs ,DB server and AD server ..there is no problem
2)Disabled the WebPageSecurity Validation on CA>General Settings-->I tired and problem not solved
3) Reset IIS --> if I restart IIS problem solved but after 2-3 hours or anytime error comes again..

Please check the security token timeout value and it is set to 1440 as expected by default. You can check via running the command:
stsadm -o getproperty -pn token-timeout
Then check the OOB recycle times of the probkematic web application pool, and add daily recycle times for the problematic web application pool. You can do as the article:

The context has expired and can no longer be used. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80090317)

We have a problem with our wiki site collection. Once a day (and sometimes more), we get the following error message :
The context has expired and can no longer be used. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80090317)
This message is displayed to everyone, and will stay there for an hour or so before the collection is back to life.
Doing an iisreset would get the site working but that will last for a day at the most.
This is what we checked and tried so far :
1. Our time zones are set and are correct.
2. Changing the timeout or disabling the web page security validation (followed by an iisreset) didn't work.
3. All server use the same NTP server for time sync (and they are indeed in sync).
4. It is happening only on the wiki collection, not the other collections.
5. We are unable to reproduce the behavior on the staging servers.
Some particularities :
1. Regional settings are set to French (Canada)
2. We have 500+ wiki pages in the site collection
3. We require page check-out / check-in for editing. Tried without, same problem.
Any ideas as to what should we try next ?

I don't think we have changed them from the default, a quick look shows ours are set to:
Token-timeout = 24hrs
FormsTokenLifetime = 10hrs
WindowsTokenLifetime = 10hrs
LogonTokenCacheExpirationWindow = 10m

Cannot edit wiki pages-- Exception message: Invalid field name

We have migrated from one Sharepoint 2010 environment to another Sharepoint 2010 environment and only wanted to preserve a few sites, mostly Enterprise Wiki Sites.
We have imported 5 total Enterprise Wiki Sites, all of which point to particular Term Sets in Managed Metadata.
2 wikis are pointed to term set A, 2 wikis are pointed to term set B and one wiki is pointed to term set C.
One of the wikis pointed to term set A is working, and one is not
The malfunctioning wiki has the following symptom:
Whenever you try to edit a page (new or existing) and save your changes, regardless of whether it is tagged, you cannot save your changes. When you try, you get the error below.

To me, it looks like there is an invalid URL, since it gives the URL path, and then there is a space, and then it also has a relative URL to /wiki/adminwiki/pages ...is this normal?
Any ideas on how to fix this is great. I don't think it has anything to do with the Managed Metadata service or the Term Store since the other wiki site (pointing to the same exact Term Set) is working normally with no problems.

To solve the problem make sure that the template you are using for the current page (with errors) has the same content type as the page. In example of the Enterprise Wiki page, I forgot to set the content type to an Enterprise Wiki page on a custom page
template I just added to the Master pages.
So what I had to do is:
go to properties of the page with errors described above and set it to be
Enterprise Wiki page
go to master pages and set the custom template to be of the same type, Enterprise Wiki page
That solved the problem

Issue in MD04 transaction with exception message 26

Dear All,
I am facing 2 issues:
1) Even if the sales order line is confirmed and fulfilled, we are getting the stock for that material against the same sales order in the MMBE Transaction.
2) For the above material present in those sales Order which are confirmed and fulfilled, We are getting the entries for that material in Transaction MD04 ( Stock requirement list of the material after we run the MRP for a particular materia) with the exception message 26.
From our end, we have used the report sdrqcr21 which delete the wrong entries from "VBBE" so that MD04 will show incorrect entries but this approach is not helping us in the above situation.

This is one issue. There is nothing wrong with the software, this is standard behavior. You have built or procured more stock than was required by the sales order. The remaining unnecessary stock is now sitting in inventory, and is displayed in MD04 under the Sales order segment. This stock can never be used again within SAP, unless someone re-opens the sales order or performs some transaction to remove the stock from being 'Sales order on hand' stock.
Some companies will scrap this material, using their standard scrapping policies. Others will transfer this un-usable E stock to general stock, if it can actually be reused.

I am trying to set-up CI of Orchard CMS and deploy it on Azure using TF service. I am stuck at following error for path being
longer than 260 characters. However, when counted the total characters in path are 235. Please see the below error :
