Use of formatting when printing strings

I would like to know how to print a string that is italicized. I am open to ideas involving complicated methods .. good to learn something new.

Well I am a graduate student in Computer Science currently building from scratch a database program as part of my school database class I am taking this semester. I have taken undergraduate courses in Java covering simple types, and data structures; at the graduate level algorithm analysis covering topics such as Fourier Transforms. I am also engaged in improving my C programming skills and learning Python to boot.Well that's nice for you, but I doubt many will be impressed here.
When I originally posted I thought I would receive an answer to my question regardless where I posted; perhaps this forum would be more active and relevant for my question. Now that my resume is out there including a background in electrical engineering, should I hit Google or can I get an answer to my question? Now I know that one shouldn't expect much eloquence from a computer scientist, but your original question of "How can I print Strings in italics" wasn't exceptionally well thought out. Or was it news to you that Java is capable of outputting Strings in more ways than outputting to a standard console?
If not the current adage is: "Its easy, just Google it" will suffice and follows the wade through data overload but oh well.We gave you plenty of answers already, do we need to hold a lecture for you to understand them?

  • Score loses formating when printing to pdf in Logic Pro

Logic Pro 9.1.6 shows score ok in page view but when it prints to pdf the formatting goes weird with notes dropping off the stave. How do I fix this so I can print a score?

Michael: I have tested other programs ability to print to Acrobat and also tested ability for other programs to
export to Excel or Word. The only crash is when printing an Acrobat pdf from Morningstar Principia Pro I get a bad crash. The work around is to print to XPS and then convert the XPS file to Acrobat pdf. To get out of the crash which can't be fixed by Windows Task Manager shut down, is to open the printer file and tell the printer to delete the pending print job.

  • [11g] Date format when printing dashboard prompt

    Hello,
i have a dashboard prompt with a between condition on a date format. When i display it on the dashboard, the format is perfect dd.mm.yyyy. But when i want to print the dashboard, the format is shown as yyyy-mm-dd. On the forum i found a hint about the localedefinitions.xml (Printer-friendly date format But there, the definition is ok
<property name="dateShortFormat">dd.MM.yyyy</property> // default short date format for locale
So, how can i change the format to dd.mm.yyyy when printing the dashboard. Any advice?
    Thanks
    Martin

    Davison,
Its not possible using user settings. All you would need to do is copy the SAP SCRIPTForm  program(You can keep the Print program as such) and set date mask as required in SAP script text editor using command
/: SET DATE MASK = 'MMMM DD, YYYY'
Now the date variable value written out on the screen would be
    &DATE& -> JAN  01, 2010
You could revert to standard settings using command
    /: SET DATE MASK = ' '

  • Printer stopped using Cyan ink when printing.

My HP Office Jet Pro L7789 All-in-One all of a sudden quit pulling the Cyan color when printing in color. It was doing fine and then the next picture is only using Black, Magenta and yellow. I have run "clean printhead" 3 times, run calibrate linefeed and run allign printer twice, all to no avail. When you print out a "Print Quality Diagnostics Page" everything comes out fine except on the test pattern 2 it does not have the Cyan (BLUE) color at all.
    Any ideas?

  • Make HP7510 printer use other cartridge when printing black and white document.

    Hi,
    HP7510 inkjet printer.
Assuming normal black is used up. Will the printer continue with the
photo black cartridge to complete documets?
Can I configure the printer to do so?
    Claes

The photo cartridge is used for graphics and printing on photo paper.  You may be able to use the photo cartridge by selecting Photo paper in the driver settings.  This is not a recommended solution - printing will be slower and it may put too much ink on the page.  It may be an OK solution for temporary printing.

  • Date format when printing Maintenance Order

    Dear Colleagues
When I print a Work Order, I'm getting the date format as DD-MM-YYYY
I know that I can change this format in the User Parameters, however I need to modify a huge number of users.
Question 1) Is there a way to setup the date format independent of the user parameters?
Question 2) I'd like to have the date like this: JAN-01-2010. But I don't have this option in the User Parameters. Do you know how can I do it?

  • Why doe's my 8500A printer use color ink when printing black and also when unit is cleaning

I only print in black. I am required to buy all the colors because my printer will not operate when any cartridge is empty.
I was informed at Office Depot that all printers operate this way.  According to them it also uses ink when it goes through
    the cleaning cycle.
The XL ink package at Office Depot  (black, yellow, cyan, magenta) is $97.00 + tax.
I hope someone has a logical answer why this is set up this way.
Why do I need colors to print black?

The 8500A takes 4 ink cartridges and 2 printheads (one for black/yellow, and another for the other two colors). This design is so that you have have larger ink cartridges (stationary on the side, the printer only moves the printhead during printing). A drawback is, you have to have all the cartridges in, without the ink cartridges, the printheads could be damaged and would cost more to replace.
Printing black text uses black ink only, it does not use color ink. The "Clean printhead" function does print a color page and uses color ink, but you only need to do this when you notice lines missing (printhead clogged) in the printout.
If you print mostly black only, choose a model that uses cartridges that has a printhead built in. These printers typically can still print black with color ink out.

  • How to configure printer to use bypass tray when printing legal paper and envelopes?

I have a new Phaser 3610. Tray 1 - contains Letter paperBypass Tray - Legal paper and sometimes envelopes How do I configure my printer to know when to use the bypass tray for legal paper when I that is what I want to print to from Excel?  In Excel, I have legal selected but it is still pulling the paper from tray 1 instead. I also print envelopes occasionally.  If I stick an envelopoe in the bypass tray, I want it to print from there like when using Word to create enveloples, instead it is pulling it from Tray 1. I have tried to adjust both settings on the Printer control panel and the Xerox printer software.  I have had no luck.

    Hi burnsey23,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the solution for using smaller paper in the bypass tray.  I know it says smaller but use the same steps for larger paper as well.  Also make sure that the orientation on Excel is set to the orientation that corresponds to the way the paper is loaded in the tray.  If this does not help please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

  • Conditional Formatting when Printing

I would like a message ("Doubleclick for Drilldown!") to appear in Print Preview but disappear (suppress itself) when the user prints out the report. Is that possible within Crystal Professional version 11.0?
    Thanks,

    Hi Art,
Well, Crystal Reports is a WYSIWYG(What you see is what you get) reporting tool. If it's there on the Preview screen then it will be there when you print it too!

  • Skin Tones Look Wrong When Printing From iPhoto

    Hi
I'm having trouble getting the caucasian skin tones to look right on photos printed with my Epson Stylus C86 printer on Epson Premium Semigloss paper. They look too pinky/purple when compared with the screen of the Sony DSC camera I shot them with and also my iMac's monitor. They just look wrong as though the subjects have a combination of bad sunburn, high blood pressure and are blushing at the same time!
I've tried the following tips synthesised from other threads:
    1. Downloaded the latest set of drivers from Epson's website.
    2. Ensured that they are associated with the printer in ColorSync utility.
    3. Selected the Use ColorSync option when printing from iPhoto's print dialogue box.
These made no difference to the default behaviour i.e. same color problems.
Could anyone guide me to a solution? I would rather not have to use another application to print them if possible. I'm not used to my Mac not "just working".
    Thanks

What color profile do the pics have? Is the printer set to the same profile?

  • Formatting a date string

I thought this would be easy enough, but I am having so much trouble doing this.
I have a time stamp constant, which I have adjusted so that it is in the following format:
    %m/%d/%y
    Since I can't save files with " / " character, I am goint to use " . " instead.
My original plan was using a 'search and split string' using '/' as a divider.
This would give me 3 strings:
    %m
    /%d
    /%y
That is perfect, except I dont want the '/' in front of the %d and %y.
Could someone help me out with this last step?
    Cory K

Or... You could just use the Format Date/Time String function:

  • When printing a PDF file I would like to ensure that all 'chapters' print on the odd numbered pages.

I need a way to set up a PDF file so that when I print it all new chapters (and single sided forms) print on the odd pages. These PDFs are available for viewing on the network but occasionally there is a demand to print one of them. Is there a 'chapter start' (or similar command) which will allow the PDF to  more properly format when printing.

There's no automated process because I don't think Acrobat could determine what was the beginning of a chapter. However, you can insert blank pages that start the first page of chapters to an odd-numbered page.
In Acrobat XI, that is Tools > Pages > More Insert Options > Insert Blank Page

  • I created a brochure in pages and exported it to a pdf format. The pdf looks and opens perfectly using preview but when opened in adobe reader (which my printer uses), fonts look odd, transparencies don't display...etc. Tells me error exists on page?

I created a brochure in pages and exported it to a pdf format. The pdf looks and opens perfectly using preview but when opened in adobe reader (which my printer uses), fonts look odd, transparencies don't display...etc. Tells me error exists on page?

Does this essentially mean there is no way to fix this problem on my end? It's a pity because the design and branding of my brochure will suffer if I remove transparencies and use different fonts. It also concerns me moving forward because it means the quality of print on my pieces will be significantly lower because most commercial printers use Adobe products.
