Use of HP 5550 Deskjet in England

I would like to give my 5550 to my daughter in England. I am confused about what electrical connections are necessayr. The power cord box seems to indicate a 110 v input, but other specs seem to say the printer is dual voltage. I know about the UK power cord but it costs as much a this pirnter is now worth.
Do it need a converter, if so what wattage? Can I just use an adapter with my US power cord? The printer will be used infrequently, i.e. not as an office printer.

There doesn't seem to be any software for your OS on the HP site. It looks like everything you can get for the printer installs through Apple Software Updates (ASU). All you need to do to get the printer installed can be found in the document below. Let me know what happens.

HP 5550 Deskjet + USB Print server under Windows 7

I have a HP deskjet 5550 which still runs fine. I use the printer as a network printer, at first connected to my router. However, my latest Thomson TG789 vn router does not support network printers anymore, so I switched to a dedicated network-to-USB print server set-up, using a separate Ethernet to   USB 2.0 Print Server device. The printserver is connected to my network switch, and gets an IP address via DHCP.
This works fine for machines running Vista (and XP before) but for some reason not for Windows 7, while the HP5550 Deskjet when directly connected via a USB cable to a Windows 7 machine works OK too.   When a print job is sent to the HP 5550 via the print server over the network, it looks like the printing is about to start, but the process halts at this point without further messages.
Also the HP Print and Scan Doctor - often a very useful tool - is in this case not able to make contact with the printer via the print server and to resolve the issue.
This may just require a small tweak; Perhaps anyone else encountered this issue and has the solution?

HP 5550 deskjet blinking lights

Hp 5550 - on/off and paper lights blinking still after:
. put in new color and black cartridges
. ne paper
. unplugged and replugged
Still will not print...help?

The blinking lights you are seeing could be alerting you to a carriage jam, caused either by a paper jam or a foreign object.
If this is not the problem, review the following HP troubleshooting document for help in diagnosing your your problem.

Using a US Airport Extreme in England

I have an Airport Extreme that I've been using in my home in Maryland for wi-fi. Now I'm moving to England. Will the Airport Extreme work over there? I see two potential issues: The plug that's supplied won't fit in the British outlet. And do they use different frequencies for wireless broadband over there? Many thanks for any light you can shed on this.

The frequencies are basically the same, except in US they have 1-11 and in UK we have 1-13.
Power shouldn't be a problem either, you can by us to uk adapter probably, also, the airport extreme has an external power unit which has an input of AC 100-240V 50/60Hz which UK is 230V @ 50Hz which is fine.
The power lead you can take out of the adapter and find a cheap (13amp plug to figure of 8 socket) which you can get any electrical store very cheap which will keep your wiring cleaner!

Using ibook G4 in Europe (France, England)

Can I plug my ibook into an electrical receptor in France or England without any problems with the voltage? I have the plug adapters for these countries. Is there any other potential problem?
Also, what about the cord that plugs into the phone jack here at home for internet access? If I am using non-wireless access, what do I need to connect in France?

if you bought the official Apple power adaptors then that's fine (the power jac handles the voltage)
France is 220v.
England is 230v.
Europe's nominal voltage is 230v.
Phone jacks are the same, worldwide.

HP 5550 Deskjet - Unwanted page breaks in documents

While printing a document, i get unwanted page breaks. It will print plain text ok but seems to have problems with Word 2007 documents. After several pages (the page amount varies), it will print 1/2 a page or so and then formfeed to the end page & continue the document on a new sheet of paper. It will keep placing pagebreaks in the middle of page through the rest of the document. The page breaks do not exist in the document. Wish that I were able to explain it better, this is the best I can come up with.
System Info:
Hp 5550 w/ Driver v.7.1
Windows XP Pro Sp3
Printer Connected Via USB
No Error Messages or LED Lights
For all that take the time give this problem a passing thought or two, you have my thanks!

Was this an add on or a software that you downloaded? It may have been removed from Firefox after an update. If so, please make sure that it is compatible with the most recent version of Firefox.

Iphone 4s in england -- how to use cheaply

What's the best way to use a verizon iphone 4s in England? I expect to use data ONLY in free wifi zones
but want to be able to make voice calls within England or back to US.
Don't want to get dinged for texts or push notifications.

If you unlock your iPhone so that it's not locked to Verizon, and if you know someone here in the UK, then depending on how long you're staying, you could probably use a Giffgaff SIM card (which uses our O2 network) with one of their goody bags for the duration of your stay. Knowing someone here would mean that they could order a free SIM card for you prior to your arrival here. Just a thought.....

Notebook using Vista and wireless print server and HP5500 printer problem

Installed std vista local driver for hp5550 printer with usb cable direct to printer. Works ok
Then, disconnected usb copper line to HP labtop and connected it into print server in router (D-link router to HP5500 printer).
Installed wireless network driver in labtop (vista os)(no updated hp driver available for Vista on HP site).
Print jobs just stack up in the que.
Used 192.168.0.1 address (which works fine for my other old win 98 computer).
Driver using the "raw" setting not "LPT"
Print Sharing is enabled.
Any suggestions?
p.s. The wirless system works fine on an old windows 98SE computer using the original 5550 installation disk.

Went back and installed the "Windows 2000 Print Server Software (from D-link Router 824vpn). I assume that this included the USP Shareport program that was recommend in a thread. I can now access router wirelessly. However, wireless print jobs go into que for hp5550, que emptys, but printer does not start up. Copper usb from printer to computer works fine (as separate printer)sta. Using HPdeskjet 5550 (HPA ) printer, port 192.168.0.1, printer name/ip 192.168.0.1, protocal 9100, raw setting, port 9100, LPR and SNMP are both blank. Any suggestions (OS is Vista). No drivers from Dlink or HP for this application. Thanks

Unable to print PDF file in HP deskjet printer ink advantage 1515

Hi , currently i have difficulty in using my printer(HP deskjet printer ink advantage 1515 ) to print PDF file, but Microsof word and powerpoint is ok,, so , any idea?

I have a few more suggestions for you to try that might help. You can try printing your PDF file by using another program, or you can try running the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results.If there was no issues detected, you can also try Uninstalling the Printer Software from the Control Panel, restarting your PC and reinstall the full driver here: HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515 All-in-One Printer
If the PDF's not printing was due to an issue with the printer software, the issue would be resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the printer. If the problem continues, try posting this issue in the Adobe Forums for further assistance.

HP 5550 problems printing in color.

I bought a new iMac this past summer and have recently installed Lion. I also just bought, after a long delay, a new color cartridge for my HP 5550 DeskJet printer. The printer works fine, with one exception... it does not want to print in color. I know that it is a dinosaur of a printer, and it's no longer supported. It prints great in Black and White. Is there some setting that I am not seeing that will allow me to print in color again, or am I out of luck and stuck in black and white until I buy a new printer? Thanks!

Hello ! Thank you for posting on the HP Forums! I would be more then happy to help regarding your HP Officejet 6600 not printing color and getting stuck in pause mode. The first thing I recommend is to ensure the printers hardware is working correctly. I recommend doing a Print Quality Report to see if the printer prints in color without pausing.
To print the Print Quality Report press the setup icon on the printers touch screen display (looks like a wrench and gear). Once you are in the Setup Menu press Reports and then press Print Quality Report. The report should start printing. If the report prints almost right away with color then the printer is working correctly and you are likely looking at a software issue in the Mac. If it is a software issue then I suggest uninstalling the HP Software. After the software is uninstalled I recommend performing a "repair disk permissions" on your Mac. A repair disk permissions is a utility built in the Mac operating system designed to locate and resolve issues or errors. After the repair disk permission is complete restart your Mac computer and re-install the software.

Once the install is complete I recommend checking for software updates on the Mac. To check for software updates click the "apple" icon at the to left and click on "app store". In the app store you can click the "updates" icon at the top of the window. Install and Hp or printer updates. After any updates you should restart the computer. from when I update my system with Windows 8 Pro I can' t use the printer Hp Deskjet 2050 J510a.
I downloaded the latest version of drivers and software for Windows 8 Pro 64 bit:
DJ2050_J510_Basicx64_1313.exe
The application give me at the and of installation the message:
"installation not completed"
and in details I can see:
"Installation error. Operative system not supported. This software can be installed only in Windows XP, Vista, Seven. Change operative system or install the printer in another computer."
The printer as been recognized from the system, and in panel control I can see it, but when I print any page the printer make only half print and than show me a message of " not original or used printer cartridges, press OK to continue or cancel do delate the print" but the print cannot be completed untill the end.
Cartridges are original; I tested the the printer too in an another computer with different operative system: the printer work correctly.
