InfoSet 
Definition
Description of a specific kind of InfoProvider: InfoSet describes data sources that are defined as a rule as joins of DataStore objects, standard InfoCubes  and/or InfoObjects (characteristics with master data). If one of the InfoObjects contained in the join is a time-dependent characteristic, the join is a time-dependent or temporal join.
An InfoSet is a semantic layer over the data sources.
Unlike the classic InfoSet, an InfoSet is a BI-specific view of data.

Use
With activated InfoSets you can define queries in the BI suite.
InfoSets allow you to analyze the data in several InfoProviders by using combinations of master data-bearing characteristics, InfoCubes and DataStore objects. The system collects information from the tables of the relevant InfoProviders. When an InfoSet is made up of several characteristics you can map transitive attributes and analyze this master data.
You create an InfoSet using the characteristics Business Partner (0BPARTNER) – Vendor (0VENDOR) – Business Name (0DBBUSNAME) and can thereby analyze the master data.
You can use an InfoSet with a temporal join to map periods of time (see Temporal Joins). With all other types of BI object, the data is determined for the key date of the query, but with InfoSets with a temporal join, you can specify a particular point in time at which you want the data to be evaluated. The key date of the query is not taken into consideration in the InfoSet.

    I want to  create a target group to differentiate employees based on Company code or sales organization
    I need to create a datasource using infoset from  ECC.
    i have used an infoset from ECC - /SAPQUERY/HR_ADM
    and also assigned the function module in datasource
    CRM_MKTTG_PF_BP_TAB_TO_GUID.
    I  created the attribute list but it does not give me any filter options and hence whatever filter options i give,it does not collect employees based on Company code in the segment builder.
    How can I achieve this?

    Hi Jushan,
    To generate contacts in segmentation, you can use the standard function module CRM_MKTTG_PF_BP_TAB_TO_CP while creating the data source.
    Also, a standard infoset CRM_MKTTG_BP_ORG is there to get the contacts.

    Is it possible Using Virtual Key Figures/ Characteristics is possible to use in InfoSets?
    I have tried all the possibilities using the BADI implementation RSR_OLAP_BADI without success.
    The VKF / Characteristics works fine when it is being used with a query based on the ODS however it is not populated when i am using the infoset. Moreover i have used the code for InfoSet as well it is not working.
    I would appreciate any help in this regard.

    r u sure about that, as i have tried all sort of permutation and combinations for using the same in RSR_OLAP_BADI without any luck.
    I have the got felling about the same however if you look into the following SAP note it puts me into doubt.
    Note 657690 - Virtual characteristics and key figures in InfoSets
    Note 618738 - Virtual characteristics or key figures and InfoSets.
    It describe about using the RSR00002.

    We have a requirement to add fileds to a custom infotype for querying Custom Infoset in SAP Query.
    We are facing problem as the added field is not getting displayed in the Query set so that we can select and display it in the Basic List along with the other filds.

    Thank you for your valuable information. I haven't Configured Dynamic Actions yet. Is it simple to write the Logic for Dynamic Actions. Is this the only way to solve this Issue?
    I tried by adding the standard fields, but they are not populating the values; but just appearing as Input Fields with Input help option.
    Please let me know if you have any suggestion in this direction?

  • Authorization Object used in Infoset

    We have a authorization object that is working with our InfoProviders, but now we have added a Infoset to our Data Model, and the authorization object is not working with the Infoset. The Infoset was added to the Role, but the user is being allowed to see all values of the authorizatin object. The user is not being limited to the specific value which is associated with the user in that Role...
    Anyone have any ideas?
    I have tried RSSM but I am unable to add the Authorization Object to an Infoset with this transaction.

    InfoSets are protected by the authorization object <b>S_RS_ISET</b>. This authorization object protects the InfoSet by the InfoArea. Addtional protection includes the activity and protecting the InfoSet at definition time as well as access to the data. A reporting user will need activity 03 with access to look at the data. The following fields are in <b>S_RS_ISET</b>:
    InfoArea: InfoArea user should access
    InfoSet: InfoSet user should access.
    Activity: For a reporting user, should be display (03).
    Subobject: For a reporting user, should be 'DATA'.
    The fields for this object are similar to S_RS_ICUBE and S_RS_ODSO. They all
    access by InfoArea, activity (display), and access to the data.
    This is coming from the TBW40 course.

  • Issue while extracting data using Gen DS of Type Infoset Query

    Hi All,
    We have a Generic Data source created using the Infoset query. I get some data discrepency when i am extracting the data with the same DS. The data for the Field Amount in the R3 and the PSA  is different. When i try to check the same using the RSA3 T-Code i am unable to execute the Gen DS in R3 production where as its working fine in R3 Dev, and i am able to execute the other DS in the R3 production using the RSA3 T-code.
    My concerns ::--
    1. if the DS is working fine in R3 Dev in RSA3 the y i am facing the problem in Production.
    2. Y i am getting the different data in R3 and PSA since PSA shuld be the replicate of R3?
    3. How can i resolve this problem.??

    I am having the authorization to execute the query in R3 production, As  i am able to execute the other DS in RSA3 . But not able to execute this DS i had also checked it is active n working fine when loading the Data.
    There is only one routine ie to transfer rule  from lower to upper of a char value.
    As der r routines in Update Rule but i have to get the same data in PSA which is der in R3.
    The Routine of Update Rules will be executed when loading the data to the Targets right so the data may b vary in Data targets but y i am getting different data in PSA .

  • Using infoset based on logical database gives lots of selection parameters

    Hi
    I'm trying to assist a new Crystal user in getting up on running on Crystal using infosets from SAP. Presently a simple infoset based on logical database PNPCE has been built using fields from just three infotypes (to keep things simple).
    When the user logs onto crystal and selects either this infoset, or a query based on the infoset, the very next step requires the user to set 80+ parameters to be null before running the report, and unfortunately those values cannot be saved to if in order to re-run the user has to manually set all the vallues to null again. Clearly this makes it pretty frustrating to use!
    This initial screen does not appear if using an infoset based on table joins, but unfortunately the logical database needs to be used to fulfill certain reporting requirements.
    I've tried saving a selection variant against a query and forcing it's use but these setting don't seem to be picked up by Crystal.
    Are there any Crystal/Query experts out there that can help with this?

    Is there anyone out there that can help with this? Seems to me like an issue that there 'should' be a soluton to...but I haven't found it yet!
    As a bit of additional info - the use of table join based infosets is not an option primarily because there are a lot of reports required that pull in the OM 'additional fields' that come through automatically when using an LDB. However, for table joins, it requires custom coding to be required to the infoset, which clearly restricts the user base from the ability to build their own reports.

  • Using Multi-cubes in an InfoSet

    SAP BI 700
    Here is my problem.
    Using transaction RSA1, I have a multi-cube pointing to 3 identical cubes(one cube per year) I need to join the multi-cube to another cube with matching keys.
    Looks like I should be looking at using an InfoSet but I do not see how to use a Mutli-cube in an Infoset.
    I know I could add all cubes from my original Multi-cube directly to the InfoSet but this would result in a join and not a union of cubes.
    Any suggestions?

    As you see, the stock data are thoroughly assigned to the vendor code # (i.e. not assigned). That's expected, as the stock data (in InfoProvider 1) are not at the vendor granularity level. On the other hand, the order data have the vendor detail.
    An InfoSet with the right join condition would present these data:
    0CALMONTH //0PLANT //0VENDOR //STOCK//ORDER_QUANTITY

    from there you can get all the queries belong to a Infoset.

  • Generic Extraction using Infoset Query

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to create on Infoset query on the R3 side for creating one generic Extractor Joining EKKO and EKPO table.
    u2022I have created the User group in SQ03.
    u2022I have created the Infoset in SQ02 and selected few 5/6 fields from each EKKO and EKPO tables into the Field Groups of the Infoset.
    u2022I have generated the Infoset and assigned it to the user group created on SQ03
    u2022I have created a query on SQ01 using this Infoset and deselected the u201Ctextu201D fields created by default and selected the Basic list. Done everything needs to be done in there.
    Now when I am going to RSO2 and created the extractor using that Infoset, I am not seeing the Function groups that I have created in the Infoset in the Extract Structure, rather its pulling all the fields that is there in the Infoset joining both tables. It should show me those 5/6 fields that is there in the field group.
    I just want to see only those 5/6 fields in the extract structure of the DS.
    I am not sure what is missing.
    Any documentation on the same or if anyone faced similar problem, please help.

    You can create the infosets in r/3 using the t code Sq01,sq03 etc.
    You can create a generic extractor in r/3 using the tcode rso2 and that you can specify the infoset name.

    Yes, but I am not able to figure exactly how to implement it? I mean I can do this same code in SE38 where I know names of the internal tables. But when in SQ02 we can't modify/read system tables (I found name of the system tables using report generated by SQ01). So how you will access them, then how you will reflect our changes in output ALV grid?
    Example:

    You will see 71     60000984     20/10/2009 is not the latest one, therefore I don't want that row. I can do the ABAP logic for this, but exactly what and how to implement in SQ02?

  • Additional fields in infoset query can not be used as datasource fields

    I create one infoset query with additional fields (using ABAP code) in R/3. When I create datasource RSO2 using this infoset query, system only show all fields without additional fields that I enhanced in infoset query. Does that mean we can not get additional fields information in generic datasource creation that we enhanced in infoset query?

       you are enhanced some fields in r/3.right that fields are  shown in
    rsa6 select your data source click on display your datasource then select
    extract structure its shows how many fields are haveing particular
    datasource .or otherwise goto rso2 select your data source display
    double click on  your extractstructure  its show how many fields haveing
    the particular datasource. check the Rsa6 what ever fields you newly added that field default hide mode
    you remove the hide tickmark.

    Do you know if I can use a nave. attribute such as 0connobj_streetcode when I deal with an infoset? I have an ods with nav attributes of connection object and I have to use those in a query.... I implemented an infoset but I can't find the nav attributes. Does an Infoset include all the attributes found in an ods or not?

    Hi Filippo,
    as previous answer you must include the InfoObject father directly in yuor query to manage the corresponding attribute.
    Only one more thing: InfoSet has great problems for performance, so it is not a good solution if you have a huge amount of data.
    If it is not a long work for you I suggest to follow this solution: via SQ02 create an Infoset (ex ABAP query) with the necessary elements and maybe with ABAP cide to take other elements from other tables. Then in RSO2 use this Infoset to create a DataSource based on this Infoset. Use this DS to feed another ODS that you will use for your reporting needs.

    You can create openhub destination based on Infoset, I dont' have any realtime exp. but I just read throug tech. documents,
    1) Create a Open hub destination, on the same screen it will ask you the template. This template will be used to select the fields for your openhub destination.
    2) Once you select all the fields and create open hub destination activate it and goto context menu from RSA1 to create transformation on this open Hub destination.
    3) Select the source of transformation as InfoSet, do the field mapping.
    4) Create DTP and you are ready to do data loading.
