Use of JOBS folder under root directory

Hi,
We have Backup, Binn, DATA, Install, JOBS, Log, repldata directories under the instance root directory, as of now I heard the JOBS directory is used for jobs information, but I never see any jobs related information is captured under JOBS, Can someone please
explain the purpose of this directory and what kind of jobs information stored here if any.
Thanks & Regards,
Kasi

It is just a default directory that SQL installation creates. It is not being used in the latest SQL versions (you can rename it and restart SQLAgent without any problems). However, in SQL 2000, it used to maintain a registry key called working directory
for this path and SQLAgent was dependent on this folder even though it is just a default directory (I haven't seen any usage of it though)

  • "private" folder on root directory of hard drive???

    Ever since I resored my system using TimeMachine I've noticed now I have a "private" folder on my hard drive that wasn't there before? Is it safe to delete it, because whatever it is, I don't want it where it is. - I want it like before when whatever "private" is was not there.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi There
    Under no circumstance should you delete the private folder, it contains vital operating system files. It is usually hidden by the system but for some reason it has become visible in the course of the Time Machine restore. You can use a utility like MacPilot to hide this folder again.

  • Why there is a chrome folder under firefox directory ? Is it related to google's chrome ?

    I just started creating my very first firefox extension. When I was following the steps([http://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2009/01/28/how-to-develop-a-firefox-extension/ How to develop a Firefox extension]) to create the extension folder hierarchy, I came across this folder named '''chrome'''.
    Google search directed me to (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Chrome_folder). But all it says is:
    ''The chrome folder contains files for customizing the application with CSS, userChrome.css and userContent.css.''
    I am just a bit curious why this folder is named '''chrome''', has it anything to do with Google's browser Chrome ? Or it just a pure coincidence ?

  • How to: Create a folder directly under the KM content 'Root' directory

    I need to create a new folder directly under the 'root' directory of the KM content...
    If I go to the KM root directory and click on any of the folders in it, I can create new folders.
    For example: clicking on the 'documents' folder. Opening it, I can create new folders by clicking on 'Folder' --> 'New' --> 'Folder'.
    However, when I am in the root directory itself, the only option under 'Folder' is 'Clipboard'.
    How can I create a new folder under the Root? Am I missing a role?
    Cheers,
    Edwin.

    You cannot create a folder under root directory
    all the folders that you are seeing under root are  KM Repositories.
    You need to create a repository and then in that you can create a folder structure.
    As an example Documetns is a standard SAP KM repository. You can also create your own repository under
    system admin-> system configuraiton->KM->CM-> Repository Managers
    There you can get options of creating the repositories
    Hope it is clear

  • Cron Job in Root Directory

    I am running OS 10.4.6 on a Mac G4 450MHz machine. Recently when I opened Activity Monitor I noticed a cron job showed up in the root directory that hadn't been there before. I know I can select the cron job and then click on the Inspect icon but the dialogue boxes that show up do not tell me anything about the cron job except statistics having to do with CPU or memory usage. How do I find out what the cron job is and what it does? Is having a cron job in the root directory normal for 10.4.6? If it's not supposed to be there, how do I get rid of it?
    Thanks for your help.
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   450MHz with 768MB of RAM

    David,
    I think you are seeing the cron daemon. Not a "cron job". The cron daemon is started during the boot process. Cron then reads /etc/crontab. Crontab list "jobs" to be run and at what time. As of Tiger cron has been demoted and launchd handles running "jobs". Cron is still started at boot time but does nothing. It runs for backwards compatibility. There's nothing to get rid of- just leave it alone.

  • How to map directory not under "document root" directory?

    In Weblogic (5.1.0), how do you map one URL "directory" to a filesystem
    directory that is not a subdirectory of the regular document root
    directory?
    This is, I want some URL "http://xxx.com/some/subset" to map to local
    directory "/x/y" instead of mapping to a subdirectory "some/subset"
    under the document root directory (the directory to which
    "http://xxx.com/" maps).
    How do you do this in Weblogic (using Weblogic as the HTTP server,
    not using it plugged in to some other HTTP server)?
    (In Apache, this would be the "Alias" directive.)

    Default registration for the file servlet is:
    weblogic.httpd.register.file=weblogic.servlet.FileServlet
    weblogic.httpd.initArgs.file=defaultFilename=index.html
    So do this:
    weblogic.httpd.register.some/subset=weblogic.servlet.FileServlet
    weblogic.httpd.initArgs.some/subset=defaultFilename=index.html,docHome=d:
    /foo/bar/baz

  • Grrr. Every time I play a track iTunes puts it in a folder in the root directory of my iTunes Media folder.r

    I have a 13" Blackbook. I have my iTunes Media Folder on a 2TB External HD. The folder directory contains the proper sub-folders: "Automatically add to iTunes," "Downloads," "Music," "Movies" and "TV Shows." For some reason now, whenever I rip a CD with iTunes it doesn't put the new CD folder "Artist/Album" in the Music folder anymore but in the root directory! Whenever I play a track it takes the track out of it's folder in Music, makes a new Artist/Album" folder IN THE ROOT DIRECTORY and puts it in there. Everytime I play Itunes I have to spend half an hour reorganising my folders by hand! Can someone PLEASE tell me what is going on here?

    Check your settings for the media folder location under iTunes > Preferences > Advanced. I think you'll find it has been set to the root of the drive.

  • /etc folder missing under root in EP6SP9 CM

    Hi all,
    I am in EP6 SP9 under Windows 2003.
    After installation of Content Management, I have noticed that the /etc directory under root folder is missing. Hence all the areas where I have folder icons for folders are coming blank since they refer to the mime/image directory for the jpg icons.
    Is there a bug in EP6 SP9 or do I have to patch up some hotfixes to get the /etc directory.Anyone else facing this problem.
    Regards,
    Rajan.K

    Hi Rajan,
    Under
    System Administration->System Configuration->
    Knowledge Management->Content Management
    Check root directory field whether there is an entry like:
    //<yourhost>/sapmnt/<SYSID>/global/config/cm/etc
    exists. If not try to add it.
    We had the same problem, after this adjustment it is solved.

  • Restored from TM now Unix folder show in root directory

    I had to do a install from a complete time machine backup which had a few hiccups but that was mostly programs that are sandboxed that did not like to be installed from a time machine backup so I reinstalled them all is working fine.
    I did however come to notice that in my root directory " /  " I have visible Unix folders such as:
    bin
    cores
    opt
    private
    sbin
    ( Alias ) User Information
    usr
    Volumes
    The file
    mach_Kernel
    I would think these files would start with a period and hence would not show with the normal folders, Applications, Library, System, and Users and if I am correct how do I go about change them so they are recognized as files that should be there just not visible to me?
    If there is something else I should know please let me know.
    I would think the visibility attributes are not set correctly for the folders and the one file and one alias folder.
    Looking into terminal commands I would think setfile command would be what I am looking for but I need help making sure the command I would like to issue on the folder, files and alias is correct.
    I have basically come up with this command set after reading the man setfile
    SetFile -P -a -V (folder name)
    I am just not sure it the -P is correct as in man it say that -P acts on a symlink file instead on the file the symlink resolves to.
    The files do not appear to be symlinks with the exceptions of the User Information folder.
    Any one help me with this?
    Thank you.
    Leon

    To hide all fies that should be invisible you can use this command then press return.
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles False; killall Finder
    To Hide individual files or folders
    sudo chflags hidden
    Then drag the file or folder you want hidden to your Terminal window.
    It will now show the path to the item.
    Press Return.

  • Oomph installer directory gets used as workspace folder

    Hi there
    my product (customized IDE) gets installed and
    now also my own projects are setup (although I first had to learn that I need to double-click the setup in the wizard before I can really select my stream and that that was missing).
    However, I now face the problem, that always the oomph installers directory gets used as workspace folder for my newly setup custom IDE...
    I'm a little lost as how to predefine the workspace to the path where I need the workspace really to be located at.
    I could perhaps use Resource Creation in my product setup to override the ini file and placing a
    -data
    ../workspace
    in there, but that's somewhat error prone, because other defaults placed by oomph into the default ini will have to be maintained by hand by me, if something changes during later updates.
    Cheers

    Yes, always. This way a user can influence the results of the other setup models.
    > So, what could make the installer create such a variable in user.setup?
    The "install.root" variable is a so called rule variable, i.e., it's induced by the attribute rule that the user picks
    for the installation location. You can see that rule at the top of your user.setup once you've done a normal
    installation. There's only a handful of such rule variables. All other variable tasks that the installer might create in
    your user.setup are always restricted to the scope that originally declared that variable, e.g., the "git.user.id"
    variable that's declared in the Eclipse.org project catalog.

  • I used Iolo to "clean" my hard drive, and now I can't access some websites, including facebook. How can I fix this? I get what looks like a root directory.

    Since using Iolo yesterday, I can't bring up the full front page of some websites, including Bing. Bing is a grey, blank screen. Lumosity looks like part of a root directory. How can I fix this? I'm trying to use IE instead, and having problems with that, too, and I don't like it anyway.

    The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
    Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
    To Reset Firefox do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
    #Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
    #Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
    Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

  • Use of inlineframe to show a file under a directory in current WLS

    Hi,
    JDeveloper: 11.1.1.5.0
    WLS: 10.3
    My application creates PDFs in runtime under some directory of my "Managed Server" where the application runs. I need to show the generated pdf file in my application page.
    I am storing the location of the generated pdf in my pageFlowScope variable. In subsequent pages, I am trying to show the generated pdf thru inlineframe as:
    <af:inlineFrame id="if1"
    source="#{pageFlowScope.ContractLocation}"/>
    I am not able to see the pdf file getting displayed in my page. I am building the file path as below:
    System.getProperty("user.dir") + File.separator + "out" + File.separator + "Contract_1.pdf";
    Please suggest if my approach to show a file using af:inlineFrame is proper? And how to display the file which is somewhere under the current server running the application.
    Thanks
    Rathnam

    If your app knows the position of the file you just need to change the doGet method in the servlet. In this method you pass the path to the file, open a stream to the file and copy the file stream to the response stream. In this case you don't need the application module, as the parameter give you all needed information. In the end you should have something like
                // get path to file
                String filePath = request.getParameter("filepath");
                // Set the content-type. Only images are taken into account
                response.setContentType(mimeType + "; charset=utf8");
                File f= new File (filepath);
                FileInputStream lFileInputStream = FileUtils.openInputStream(f);
                ServletOutputStream lOutputStream = response.getOutputStream();
                IOUtils.copy(lFileInputStream, lOutputStream);
                lFileInputStream.close();
                lOutputStream.flush();Timo

  • Why does debugger not find source code when compiler output has been directed to the root directory, but the source is in a sub-directory, using Forte for JAVA community edition V3.0

    I have configured Forte to put compiler output, i.e. my classes, in the root directory of the project. I now find that the debugger does not find the source code when it is in a sub-directory. However, if I temporarily copy a classes' source code to the root directory the debugger will display it.
    To direct compiler output to the root directory I selected Project >Settings>Compiler types, then External Compiler ( which is the default compiler in my case ) and set Target to be the root project directory. This is the only directory it will allow.

    This Forum is for Forte 4GL or UDS as its called today. I am not sure if anybody is going to be able to answer your question here. Sorry.
