Use of keyboard
Hello, My name is Gunner Hodgson and I recently started using a Macbook Pro. To start with, I would like to say that I love it. I also purchased the Apple Pro Keyboard, because as a student I have to type 10 page essays and I don't want to get carpel tunnel. I have some beef with both keyboards. The Macbook Pro keyboard is not wide enough, I tend to hit tab instead of Q, caps lock instead of A or shift instead of Z. My roommate has a macbook, and none of these problems are present. The keys are well spaced and typing is once again not a battle. I have none of these problems with my Apple Pro Keyboard, the key spacing is good, and mistypes are purely operator error. However, the key throw is so far my typing speed suffers dramatically from the Macbook Pro keyboard. You have to push the keys down so far that many times I end up having to go back and fix a mistake when I hit the key, but not hard enough. It sounds like I am whining, I know, but this problem could easily be solved. If apple could come out with an "Apple Pro II keyboard" with less of a keythrow, I beleive that that would be very helpful. or they could make the keyboard on the Macbook Pro wider, or more like the Macbook, with the wide spacing. If anyone echoes my thoughts, please let me know, and maybe we can try and get a request through to apple.

I can see how that may be a problem for some people however you may be then better off attaching a USB keyboard that is to your liking while you are typing long essays or at home and just use the keyboard while on the road so to speak.
I personally dislike the Macbook keyboard and prefer the MBP keyboard even though I have large hands. I guess it may have something to do with the fact that i'm accustomed to small spacing and have modified my typing habits even on past laptops to squeeze my hands into the space that it is second nature.
Good luck either way though but I don't believe that your comment will hold a lot of water here since people with the power to do this don't generally hang out on the message boards.
You'd be better off sending an email directly to Apple stating your suggestion.

Using Multiple Keyboard/Mice on single Mac Pro
Hi Folks,
I've tried to search this topic, with no joy.
Basically, I would like to run a Mac Pro with dual monitors, and 2 users, working simultaneously. In this app, I would like each user to be able to run applications on their own screen and use separate Keyboard/Mouse for the applications on their separate screens. The screens would run as an extended desktop, but the applications on each screen would need to recognize their designated I/O (Keyboard/Mouse) device.
I see plenty about running 2 systems with 1 keyboard/mouse... but not the other way around.
Has anyone come across this mode of operation before, I am sure it is possible to do.... but would have to be some software behind it, so that the data streams from the proper I/O makes it to the proper application, even when multiple windows of the same app may be running simultaneously (like 2 windows of Safari).
Any thoughts?

I homeschool my 2 children, and am looking to purchase a new Mac. In dual monitor mode, I see the possiblity to limit my purchase to one system, where each user is able to have their own monitor and I/O control. An additional advantage is that in Mirror monitor mode, I can control the system, while they are able watch a lesson. Using this method, I would purchase a higher power system which provides my kids plenty of power, even when they are both using the system, and gives me a higher power system when I use it by myself (sort of like a super-user). Basically the best of both worlds, and the actual price resides around the cost of 2 independent systems, but gives me a high power system for other activities.
I can envision a lot of applications for such activities. Some I could see in a networked environment. I am actually surprized we have not seen any office applications go to the model of multi-player gaming, where many users can work on the same document simultaneously. There are of course database applications which operate in this manner, but I am not aware of any productivity apps.

Keyboard issue using Danish keyboard on Remote app for iOS.
Hi there.
I have noticed a quite annoying issue with the Remote Desktop for iOS when using foreign keyboards along with the Remote Desktop app.
The PC I'm remoting to from my iPad Air is a Windows 7 machine with an English Windows.
I have a danish keyboard layout installed, and have removed the English keyboard.
But.. Here comes the strange issue.
If I connect via Remote Desktop before I log into my PC (from my PC), the special characters like :;/*^%}{ ect. works just fine on my iPad.
If I then log on to my PC from the PC, the keyboard on the PC has been changed to english, even though there's no english keybord layout installed on my PC.
The special characters like the danish æøå has been changed out with ; and other wrong characters.
I then have to press CTRL+SHIFT on my PC to change it back to the danish layout.
But... If I do so on my PC and afterwards connect via the Remote Desktop app on my iPad Air, the keyboard is messed up on my iPad.
All the special characters like /:;)(^#%{ is placed wrong and give me a wrong character.
And that happens even if I change the keyboard on my iPad to English.
I really hope you will be able to fix this in a future update enabling full support for foreign keyboards between iOS7 and Windows 7.

Why are the characters mixed up in the session?
This issue can occur if the keyboard language has been switched on the remote PC while running a remote desktop session. In the case you would like to switch to a different keyboard language
follow these instructions.
Note: The remote PC selects the system language of the device running the remote desktop client and not the keyboard language. When switching the keyboard language on your device, you need
to manually switch the keyboard language on the remote PC.
1. Open settings on your device.
2. Tap General and then tap International.
3. Tap Language and select the language running on the remote PC.
4. Open the RD Client and connect to the remote PC and check if the Windows keyboard language matches the language that you selected.

Hi. After loading a picture into Photoshop some of the menu tools are greyed out and I cannot use the keyboard short cuts, for instance I cannot use Ctrl + T for free transform, how do I resolve this problem. In addition the tool Icons are so small I have to get close to the screen to see them, is there anyway the Icons can be made bigger without reducing the resolution of the screen.

DerekAre you working on a background layer? If so, Ctrl + T will not work. Press Alt and double-click your background layer to convert to a normal layer (or right-click BG layer and select Layer from Background) and try again.
If you're working in Photoshop CC 2014 you can go to Preferences > Experimental Features and tick "Scale UI 200% for high-density displays" to make your buttons and icons larger. -

Once the keyboard is connected, it should work with any app that uses the standard keyboard interface, so it will work with iWork.

My macbook runs extremely slow when logging in after waking up from sleep, locking up and I am unable to use the keyboard. Furthermore, when just using safari to watch streaming television, my computer gets really slow, and locks up, and the dock appears blank and I sit here frustrated. Anytime i wake up my computer, my keys don't respond and I've waited at most 3 minutes untill i can type in my password. Even sometimes when i type in my password and hit enter, it takes forever to open up my mac. I have barely used any storage in my macbook, since i only use it for college, and I have run clamscan wiht no viruses showing... Any ideas?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
I would like to you use the keyboard to switch between tabs but I couldn't find if this is possible.

Is there a way to use the keyboard to select a Bookmark Toolbar item?
Hello. I'm using FF 25 on a Mac running Mountain Lion 10.8.5. I love how fast it is! However, one thing I use constantly in Safari is the ability to use a keyboard shortcut to access my Bookmark Bar items, since they're all bookmarklets. For example, in Safari I can use Command-1 to invoke the first bookmark bar item, etc.
Is there a way to do this in FF 25?

You can set the modifier in the Preferences of the extension.<br />
I've tested it on Linux and it still appears to work for me in spite of the comments, so you can give it a try and see which modifier works on Mac. -
I can no longer use the keyboard shortcuts, 'command C' and 'command V'. Did I inadvertently do something to my keyboard or computer that caused this? Is there a way to fix it?
You can also check in System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts, make sure that custom shortcuts were not created using those same commands. If ones were, they could be creating a conflict. Step throuogh each of the items in the left list, checking the array presented in the right pane for each.

Use two keyboards at the same time

Awhile back, there wassome discussion over the Microsoft Keyboard 6000 set ( the one with a keybpard and numeric pad ) and using it on the iPad. I still have 3 of them but still cannot figure out how to use the keyboard and the numeric pad at the same time. I read a post of saying that someone sometimes take the numeric pad with them on trips. Have any of figured out a way how to have both the keyboard and the numeric pad on at the same time? I can connect them both ( or pair them ) but if I try to turn on my numeric pad when my keyboard is on, I lose function of my keyboard. If Im using the pad and turn on the keyboard, I lose function of/ my numeric pad

JesseThe capability is provided by Apple but implementation needs to be provided by the numeric pad. I have a ZAGG keyboard and it has a button that enables the virtual keyboard. When enabled, both keyboards are functional simultaneously.

Synaptics touchpad blocked & delay when using the keyboard in Windows 8.1
Sometimes (possibly when I use the keyboard and then quickly attempt to move the mouse arrow on the screen with the Synaptics touchpad), I am unable to move the cursor for a half of second-or-so.
Sometimes I cannot tap to click, maybe, few seconds (it is very annoying).
There are some Mouse and touchpad settings in Windows 8.1 ("To prevent the cursor from accidentally moving while you type, change the delay before clicks work") which I set to "No Delay (always on)" but it does not work, either.
I also checked the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PrecisionTouchPad
but "AAPThreshold" is set correctly to 0 (No delay).
But I still experiences problems and touchpad does not work while typing and sometimes also few moments after.

Windows 8.1 Bluetooth RFComm sample runs fine on both the devices? I successfully tested the Windows 8.1 Bluetooth RFComm sample on Laptop (Windows 8.1) and Windows Phone 8.1 (paired).
Make sure the service which you are trying to advertise/listen is supported by both the devices.

New feature request: Having the possibility to use different keyboard language on multiple monitors.
I would love to see a new feature to allow the use of different keyboard language on multiple monitors with the same desktop mac.
Ex.: On dual monitor desktop, use english keyboard on the left screen and french keyboard on the right screen.
So I wouldn't have to switch keyboard language all the time!
