USE OF PARAMETERS IN DISCOVERER

Hi, from El Salvador my question is? in a query that have parameters, when customize the parameters, how can put TO_DATE(SYSDATE)-1 in default value ?

Hi,
You cannot more a worksheet, only a workbook. To move a workbook between instances you have to either use Discoverer Desktop and save the workbook to the desktop, or you can use the Discoverer Admin 4i command line and export the workbook to a .eex file then import the workbook into the new instance.

    Dear All,
    Is it possible to use dependent parameters in discoverer... Like in RDF's(concurrent program)

    Hi Hussain,
    I think In Discoverer 4i there is no optional parameters Option.I wrote in condition(Desktop addition) like Org = :Org_param or org = DECODE(:"Org Parameter 1",'All',Org) .
    At the time of running work book I am passing 'All' in parameter it's taking all orgs and giving org's data.
    But in application i am not able give 'All' in parameters.
    how to do optional parameters in 4i.
    In 10G Optional parametes are there.

  • Challenge passing parameters to discoverer report

    Hello everyone, I am following the instructions on this website - http://learndiscoverer.blogspot.com/2008/11/metalink-note-304192.html
    Basically, we want to use parameters for discoverer reports, especially date parameters because of some performance issues we have been having with discoverer.
    Here is the process I am using. Please correct me if I am doing anythinng wrong.
    1. Login to apps schema and create context
    CREATE OR REPLACE CONTEXT DISCO_CONTEXT
    USING EUL4_US.DISCO_PKG
    2. Login to eul4_us schema and create package
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE DISCO_PKG
    AS
    FUNCTION set_context(p_name VARCHAR2,
    p_value VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2;
    FUNCTION show_context(p_name VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2;
    END disco_pkg;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY DISCO_PKG
    AS
    FUNCTION set_context(p_name VARCHAR2,
    p_value VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2
    IS
    BEGIN
    dbms_session.set_context('DISCO_CONTEXT', p_name, p_value);
    RETURN p_value;
    END set_context;
    FUNCTION show_context(p_name VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2
    IS
    BEGIN
    RETURN SYS_CONTEXT('DISCO_CONTEXT', p_name);
    END show_context;
    END disco_pkg;
    Then grant access to apps
    GRANT ALL ON DISCO_PKG TO APPS;
    Then import the functions show_context and set_context into discoverer
    3. Go back to apps schema and create synonym
    CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM DISCO_PKG FOR EUL4_US.DISCO_PKG;
    4. Create discoverer custom folder using the following query:
    SELECT DISTINCT
    pet.run_result_id
    ,papf.employee_number
    FROM
    per_all_people_f papf,
    --hr_lookups hl,*
    per_all_assignments_f paaf,
    hr_all_organization_units haou,
    per_jobs pj,
    per_grades pg,
    pay_people_groups ppg,
    --per_addresses pa,*
    --hr_locations_all hla,*
    per_positions pps,
    per_people_f ppf,
    pay_assignment_actions paa,
    pay_payroll_actions ppa,
    PAY_RUN_RESULTS_V pet,
    --pay_element_types_v1 pet,
    pay_all_payrolls_f papaf
    WHERE
    papf.person_id=paaf.person_id
    AND papf.employee_number=ppf.employee_number
    AND paaf.organization_id=haou.organization_id
    AND paaf.job_id=pj.job_id(+)
    AND paaf.grade_id=pg.grade_id(+)
    AND paaf.people_group_id=ppg.people_group_id(+)
    AND paaf.position_id=pps.position_id(+)
    AND paaf.business_group_id=0
    AND paa.assignment_id = paaf.assignment_id
    AND paa.payroll_action_id = ppa.payroll_action_id
    AND paa.assignment_action_id=pet.assignment_action_id
    AND paaf.payroll_id=papaf.payroll_id
    AND ppa.effective_date BETWEEN paaf.effective_start_date AND paaf.effective_end_date
    AND ppa.effective_date BETWEEN papf.effective_start_date AND papf.effective_end_date
    AND ppa.action_type ='R'
    AND ppa.action_status = 'C'
    AND paaf.assignment_type = 'E'
    AND paaf.primary_flag = 'Y'
    AND haou.business_group_id=0
    AND ppa.effective_date = TO_DATE(SYS_CONTEXT('DISCO_CONTEXT','PAYROLL_DATE'))
    5. Create a parameter called Payroll Date. Default value is set to NULL and the "Create Condition" checkbox is unchecked.
    6. Create a calculation
    SET_CONTEXT('PAYROLL_DATE', TO_CHAR(:Payroll Date))
    And that's it.
    The thing is, this doesn't work for me.
    But for the same query, if I enter the date value I am substituting, values show up. So it seems for some reason, the context value probably isn't being set or thereabouts.
    I have tried setting the context manually in a TOAD session using:
    declare
    v_ret varchar2(50);
    begin
    --dbms_session.set_context('DISCO_CONTEXT', 'PAYROLL_DATE', '31-MAR-2010');
    v_ret := disco_pkg.set_context('PAYROLL_DATE', '01-MAR-2010');
    dbms_output.put_line(v_ret);
    end;
    And afterwards run the query:
    select sys_context('DISCO_CONTEXT', 'PAYROLL_DATE') from dual
    And results do show up here. So I'm wondering what could be wrong.
    Please help.

    Hi ,
    Are you saying I should create a new workbook that is not based on my custom folder for setting and showing the context value? You don't need to create a new workbook, you can just create a new worksheet in your report workbook, but you will need two sheets to use contexts. The sheet that sets the contexts should not be based on your custom folder, but on a folder that returns a single row. You cannot set and check contexts in a single SQL statement, so you have to have 2 worksheets.
    You can default the contexts using a trigger or initialisation SQL so that the user only has to set the contexts if they are not using the defaults.

  • Boolean Parameters in Discoverer

    Hi,
    I am doing parameters in discoverer with True/False values. Those values are not from database. It's just values for users to choose, and after that, it deals with select statement. How can I do it? Do you have any ideas to use thing like checkbox as the input parameter of discoverer?
    Thanks,

    Hi Michael,
    Well, yes there is a way to automate the initialization. You can use a database or EUL post-login trigger to set the contexts to a default value. In fact, it is useful to have 'session initialised' context, initially, set to FALSE. Then in your parameter initialization sheet you set the context to TRUE using a hidden calculation. Then in your report you can check when the parameters have been initialized and raise a custom exception to prompt the user to run the parameter initialization sheet if the parameters have not been set.
    This approach works well, but some care is needed. Discoverer plus caches SQL query results and when a workbook is opened and exactly the same SQL has been run before it will use the results from the cache without realising that the context and changed and the query needs to be rerun. A refresh of the workbook usually fixes the problem.
    Also if you are using this approach to generate context sensitive LOVs, you will find that Discoverer Desktop usually caches the LOVs and therefore the LOV does not change when the context is changed.
    Another useful technique is to initialise a context to different values for different users. You can then use this context in the report to reduce the complexity of the SQL and improve performance.
    Best wishes,
    Rod

  • HTTP to File Scenario using URL parameters.

    Hi,
    I am working on a HTTP to file scenario where POST method is hirring the XI server with authentication parameters.
    CAD application is trying to hot our XI server using POST Method and the application does not have ability to send XML payload to XI server directly.
    So we are simply receiving parameters in plain text in inbound payload.
    I need to convert this payload to XML format and am tring to work this out using dynamic configuration.
    But It is throwing parser error.

    Hi Mark and Maciej,
    The Inbpound payload we are reciving is of the kind:

    As in HTML we ar using hidden parameters to given authentication details and submmit button to hit XI serrver.
    Can you please help me to out how can I add prolog and epilog.

  • How to create optional parameters in discoverer 10.1.2

    I am new to discoverer, Can any one tell me how to create optional parameters in Discoverer desktop edition in 10.1.2
    I looked at the following thread which says optional parameters can be created in 10.1.2 but doesn't tell how tro create it
    How to create optional parameters in Discoverer
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi.
    In the thread you quoted Michael Armstrong-Smith says that optional parameters can be created in Plus but not in Desktop and that's true.
    So your question "how to create optional parameters in Discoverer desktop" is already answered in that thread.
    Assume that it is a typo and you wanted to ask how to create optional parameters in Plus.
    Then the answer is simple: Just uncheck the "Require users to enter a value" checkbox when creating new parameter.

  • Using Additional parameters in file receiver

    Hello all,
    I'm trying to use additional parameters the following way:
    In my receiver adapter:
    File Name Scheme : %var%.txt
    Additional Parameters:
    %var%     |   myvalue
    Checked "Set Adapter Specific Message Attributes" and "FileName" in both sender and receiver adapters.
    XI doen't pay attention to my variable and outputs the file name as is (exactly as the original name).
    Can anyone please help me solve the problem?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    since you are using both variable substitution & Set Adapter Specific Message Attributes, the second one has highest preference. So only Adapter Specific Message Attribute works in this case.
    So use either Variable Substitution (or) Set Adapter Specific Message Attributes according to your scenario requirement.

  • NOT Using Named Parameters in a Native Query

    Hi!
    like it is written in the Toplink JPA Extensions reference Toplink supports using named parameters in native queries.
    See example from http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/jpa/resources/toplink-jpa-extensions.html:
    Example 1-11 Specifying a Named Parameter With #
    Query queryEmployees = entityManager.createNativeQuery(
    "SELECT OBJECT(emp) FROM Employee emp WHERE emp.firstName = #firstname"
    queryEmployeeByFirstName.setParameter("firstName", "Joan");
    Collection employees = queryEmployees.getResultList();
    But I want to use "#" in the SQL statement so I want to disable this parameter binding somehow and let the query just execute the SELECT statement I deliver.
    I have tried to add the property
    <property name="toplink.jdbc.bind-parameters" value="false"/>
    into the persistence.xml and I have also tried to add the query hint
    query.setHint(TopLinkQueryHints.BIND_PARAMETERS, HintValues.FALSE);
    but none of them prevents the # to be uses as a paramter. this causes the exception:
    Exception [TOPLINK-6132] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 9.1 (Build b22)): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.QueryException
    Exception Description: Query argument ######' not found in list of parameters provided during query execution.

    AS RCGC.PHA_COMPAS_SIMILAR_MATS ) )
    I am using the latest Toplink essentials build together with an Oracle 9.2i DB in a Java SE web application.
    Can anyone give me a little hint what to do?

  • Error when using Date Parameters...

    Hi everybody,
    I have a little issue.
    Ever since I upgraded my CRXI R2 to SP4 I've had a little problem using date parameters.
    The little calendar icon next to the parameter field no longer works.
    When I click it I get the following error message:
    An error has occurred in the script on this page.
    Line:       79
    Char:      1
    Error:      Object Expected

    I'm thinking this is probable a quick registry fix, but I have no idea where to start looking.
    Hopefully one of you CR guru's knows the answer.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jason

    It seems you are having a scripting issue.
    Go onto the Internet explorer settings (internet options under control panel)
    click on security and then click on Internet and then Custom tab.
    Scroll right down where it says Scripting and enable it.
    That should resolve the issue.
    Here is the full list of browsers with scripting options:
    Windows Internet Explorer
    (all versions except Pocket Internet Explorer)
    Note To allow scripting on this Web site only, and to leave scripting disabled in the Internet zone, add this Web site to the Trusted sites zone.

    Maybe this might help?
    Remove Web Customization
    If multiple folders are causing the script error, remove Web customization from any folder that generates the error message.
    To remove customization from a folder, use the following steps:
    1. Open the appropriate folder.
    2. On the View menu, click Customize This Folder, click Remove Customization, click Next, and then click Finish.

    Hi,
    I need to build a new interface (HTTP - RFC) which will use several URL parameters. I've created a HTTP communications channel and Sender Service and this works. I'm able to define several URL Parameters by checking 'Adapter-Sepcific Message Attributes' and then 'Apply URL Parameters' then specifying the individual parameters.
    This is straight forward so far but in usual SAP fashion the documentation on HTTP Comms Channels and URL Parameters is non existent. My question is how do I use these parameters once they are passed. I need to use the values as input parameters for the RFC which means I'll need to map these in the Integration Repository I can't find anything on SDN or SAP help that answers the question.
    I know I could include these values in the XML payload but that would mean my 'customer' would need to amend their application and I'd rather keep things as they are.
    Looking forward to your replies.
    Thanks in advance.

    May be this could help you to refference . .
    For each process template, you can define interactive or composite form reference objects that can optionally be executed at runtime.
    To be able to see and execute the reference object at runtime, you must add an appropriate runtime view.
    Prerequisites
    You can only attach standalone interactive forms to a process. For more information, see Interactive Form Types.
    Activities
    To attach an interactive form to a process:
           1.      Open the gallery and select a process template. To open its design time, choose Open…
           2.      To switch to edit mode, choose  (Edit).
           3.      Open the Forms tab page.
           4.      Choose Add and select the type of reference object you want to add. You can choose between Callable Object and Development Object.
    Browse and select the reference object, and choose Add once again.
           5.      Repeat step 4 to add more objects.
           6.      To define parameter mapping, select an entry and choose Map Parameters. Select a parameter from the left-hand table, and then select the parameter you want to map from the right-hand table. This groups the input parameters of the form reference object to the relevant input parameters of the process.
    If the process does not define input parameters, you can set default values.
           7.      When you have defined the required mappings, choose Done.
           8.      Whenever a newer version of the form reference object is available, its status on the Forms tab page changes to  (Deprecated). To update the object, select it from the list and choose Update. The status changes to  (Active).
    Parameter mapping is preserved unless the parameters of the new object version are different. In this case, you need to define mappings again.
           9.      Finally, choose  (Save).

  • Overriding SPMetal Defaults by Using a Parameters XML File

    hi everybody,
    I have a datatable
    Employee below :
    FullName Single line of text
    Age
    Number
    After use SPMetal to generate entities, i have
    EmployeeItem below:
    FullName string
    Age
    double?
    I want Age is Integer so i use "Overriding SPMetal Defaults by Using a Parameters XML File" :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Web AccessModifier="Public" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SharePoint/2009/spmetal">
    <List Name="Employee" Type="Employee">
    <ContentType Name="Employee" Class="Employee">
    <Column Name="FullName" />
    <Column Name="Age" Type="Integer" />
    <ExcludeOtherColumns/>
    </ContentType>
    </List>
    <ExcludeOtherLists />
    </Web>
    When generate it have error "There is an error in XML doc" at :
    <Column Name="Age" --error here-- Type="Integer" />
    Would you like help me?

    Hi,
    I came across the same error when testing your code in my environment.
    Anyway, if we convert the Number field to Integer, there will be a risk of damaging our data due to the conversion accuracy.
    So if you want to use the Integer type of data, a workaround is that you can convert the double type of data to Integer type programmatically after retrieving the data you want.

  • How to use Default parameters

    Hello,
    How do I use default parameters from ODP.NET. I have a proc in Oracle that shows Default? = Y when I do Describe in PL/SQL Developer. Therefore, I don't want to pass this parameter at all via ODP.NET/C# call. If I omit this parameter, I get the dreaded "Invalid number or types of parameters" error.
    Thanks for your help,
    Evgueni

    Hi,
    You'll just want to set OracleCommand::BindByName=true. Here's an example, hope it helps.
    Greg
    create or replace function showparams(p1 varchar2, p2 varchar2 default 'foo',
               p3 varchar2, p4 varchar2 default 'bar') return varchar2
    is
    retval varchar2(4000);
    begin
    retval := 'p1 = '|| p1;
    retval := retval || ',p2 = ' || p2;
    retval := retval || ',p3 = ' || p3;
    retval := retval || ',p4 = ' || p4;
    return retval;
    end;
    using System;
    using System.Data;
    using Oracle.DataAccess.Client;
    class testdefault
        static void Main(string[] args)
            using (OracleConnection con = new OracleConnection("data source=orcl;user id=scott;password=tiger"))
                con.Open();
                using (OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand("showparams", con))
                    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
                    cmd.BindByName = true;
                    cmd.Parameters.Add( new OracleParameter("retval", OracleDbType.Varchar2,4000));
                    cmd.Parameters["retval"].Direction = ParameterDirection.ReturnValue;
                    cmd.Parameters.Add("p1", "firstval");
                    cmd.Parameters.Add("p3", "secondval");
                    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
                    Console.WriteLine(cmd.Parameters["retval"].Value.ToString());
    }OUTPUT
    =========
    p1 = firstval,p2 = foo,p3 = secondval,p4 = bar
    Press any key to continue . . .

  • Using named parameters with an sql UPDATE statement

    I am trying to write a simple? application on my Windows 7 PC using HTML, Javascript and Sqlite.  I have created a database with a 3 row table and pre-populated it with data.  I have written an HTML data entry form for modifying the data and am able to open the database and populate the form.  I am having trouble with my UPDATE function.  The current version of the function will saves the entry in the last row of the HTML table into the first two rows of the Sqlite data table -- but I'm so worn out on this that I can't tell if it is accidental or the clue I need to fix it.
    This is the full contents of the function . . .
         updateData = new air.SQLStatement();
         updateData.sqlConnection = conn;
         updateData.text = "UPDATE tablename SET Gsts = "Gsts, Gwid = :Gwid, GTitle = :GTitle WHERE GId = ":GId;
              var x = document.getElementsById("formname");
              for (var i = 1, row, row = x.rows[i]; i++) {
                   updateData.parameters[":GId"] = 1;
                   for (var j = 0, col; col=row.cells[j]; j++) {
                        switch(j) {
                             case 0: updateData.parameters[":GTitle"] = col.firstChild.value; break;
                             case 1: updateData.parameters[":Gsts"] = col.firstChild.value; break;
                             case 2: updateData.parameters[":Gwid"] = col.firstChild.value; break;
    Note: When I inspect the contents of the col.firstChild.value cases, they show the proper data as entered in the form -- it just isn't being updated into the proper rows of the Sqlite table.
    Am I using the named parameters correctly? I couldn't find much information on the proper use of parameters in an UPDATE statement.

    Thank you for the notes.  Yes, the misplaced quotes were typos.  I'm handtyping a truncated version of the function so I don't put too much info in the post. And yes, i = 1 'cuz the first rows of the table are titles.  So the current frustration is that I seem to be assigning all the right data to the right parameters but nothing is saving to the database.
    I declare updateData as a variable at the top of the script file
    Then I start a function for updating the data which establishes the sql connection as shown above.
    The correctly typed.text statement is:
            updateData.text = "UPDATE tablename SET Gsts=:Gsts, Gwid=:Gwid, GTitle=:GTitle WHERE GId=:GId";
    (The data I'm saving is entered in text boxes inside table cells.) And the current version of the loop is:
            myTable = document.getElementById("GaugeSts");
            myRows= myTable.rows;
              for(i=1, i<myRows.length, i++) {
                   updateData.parameters[":GId"]=i;
                   for(j=0; j<myRows(i).cells.length, j++) {
                        switch(y) {
                             case 0: updateData.parameters[":GTitle"]=myrows[i].cells[y].firstChild.value; break;
                             case 1: updateData.parameters[":Gsts"]=myrows[i].cells[y].firstChild.value; break;
                             case 2: updateData.parameters[":Gwid"]=myrows[i].cells[y].firstChild.value; break;
                             updateData.execute;
    The whole thing runs without error and when I include the statements to check what's in myrows[i].cells[y].firstChild.value, I'm seeing that the correct data is being picked up for assignment to the parameters and the update. I haven't been able to double check that the contents of the parameters are actually taking the data 'cuz I don't know how to extract the data from the parameters. ( The only reference  I've found so far has said that it is not possible. I'm still researching that one.) I've also tried moving the position of the updateData execution statement to several different locations in the loop andstill nothing updates.
    I am using a combination of air.Introspector.Console.log to check the results of code and I'm using Firefox's SQlite manager to handle the database.  The database is currently sitting on the Desktop to facilitate testing and I have successfully updated/changed data in this table through the SQLite Manager so I don't think I'm having permission errors and, see below, I have another function successfully saving data to another table.
    I currently have another function that uses ? for the parametersin the .text of a INSERT/REPLACE statement and that one works fine.  But, only one line of data is being saved so there is no loop involved.  I tried changing the UPDATE statement in this function to the INSERT/REPLACE just to make something save back to the database but I can't make that one work either.I've a (And, I've tried so many things now, I don't even remember what actually saved something --albeit incorrectly --to the database in one of my previous iterations with the for loops.)
    I'm currently poring through Sqlite and Javascript tomes to see if I can find what's missing but if anything else jumps out at you with the corrected code, I'd appreciate some ideas.

  • I am creating parameters in Discovere plus

    Dear ,
    I have created parameters in Discoverer Plus and follow these steps.
    •     Enter Category in the "What do you want to name this parameter?" field.
    •     Select Prod_Category from the "Which item do you want to base this parameter on?" drop-down list.
    •     Select the Create condition with operator check box and select IN from the drop-down list.
    •     Enter Select a Category in the "What prompt do you want to show for this parameter?"' field.
    •     Select the Require users to enter a value and Enable users to select multiple values check boxes.
    THESE OPTIONS ARE DISABLE on parameters vizard
    1. What default value do you want to give this parameters.
    2. Do you want to list of the value for this parameters.
    i am unable to create lov in parameters . please guide me.

    Hi,
    The list of values is not created within the plus
    the list of values (called item classes) are created in the Admin

  • Using Lexical Parameters in OBIEE 11g Publisher

    Hello All,
    I want to know if there is a provision to use lexical parameters to be used in 11g Publisher. I know we could do this in 10g Publisher with the use of data template and database package. This is a very useful functionality to dynamically deduce the SELECT and WHERE clauses based on the input parameters.
    For what I have explored, this functionality seems to be missing in 11g.
    Can anybody throw some light on this please?

    Does anyone know about this please?
