Use of POPULATE_GROUP_WITH_QUERY

Hi All,
I have created a recordgroup. Can you please let me know how to populate this recordgroup using POPULATE_GROUP_WITH_QUERY into a multi-record control block?

Could you post the error message??
if your query works on sql+, it should work on forms; I'd suggest to create a record_group using the query as you use it on sql+.
I think that you need to edit the sql statement to make it work on sql+, to replace quotation marks and item names:
eg:
pc.suborg_code = nvl('''||:b1.suborg_code||''', sd_app.get_env(''SUBORG_CODE''))
in sql+ would be:
pc.suborg_code = nvl(:suborg_value, sd_app.get_env('SUBORG_CODE'))
is that correct?
if so, create a new record_group or a new lov using the the wizard and use the sql statement with same syntax you used it in sql+, replacing only the item names
eg: :suborg_value shoud be :b1.suborg_value

Hi,
You can modify the organization LOV .If you have to restrict the list of organizations in all forms for the particular responsibility, you can use security profiles.
Or if you want to restrict the list of organizations only for this particular form, you can use CUSTOM.pll
You can restrict the LOV by using the populate_group_with_query functionality

Connect by prior in LOV

Hi,
I need to add a restriction in my list of values. In the property "Additional Restriction", I need to write :
column_from_table in (select C1 from another_table
connect by prior C1 = C2
start with C1 = :block_name.column)
I get the following error message :
CDG-03750 ERROR: PRIOR is only allowed when the component has a treewalk
Does anyone know how to implement hierarchy in a LOV ? It is important to note that my hierarchy is on an independant table inside an additional restriction and it does not concern the base table usage.

I've never been able to get it to generate. What I've done as a workaround is to use the populate_group_with_query built-in in a when-new-form-instance trigger to rebuild the record group for the LOV.

Combo/PopList/or LOV on the web

I am deploying a forms 5.0 application on the web.
I need to present the user with a list of possible selections
that is generated from a SQL statement. (eg. create a poplist
that is populated with values from a dictionary table)
Question 1:
Is it possible to dynamically populate a
a. poplist
b. combo box
c. LOV
If so how?
Question 2:
Is there an advantage to using any one or the other from the web?

WHEN-LIST-CHANGED Triggers Works Only Once ??

hi
i have a form with the 2 list ITEMS
And i have some trigger WHEN-LIST-CHANGED For the
first LIST item which Populates the Second List
Based on the Value selected in First List
Its Works Fine For the First time.
But for second time Onward , it Does change the Value of the items in List2.
Do i have to first clear and then repopulate, i tried this but then i get a total

From one of our support notes:
List Items populated from Record Groups are extremely useful when you need to
give your users a choice of items to choose from. This note will show you how
to create two list items that have a "master-detail" relationship, i.e., the
items appearing in the "detail" list item will depend on what is chosen in the
"master" list item.
CREATING THE LIST ITEMS
Create two list items called DEPT_LIST and ENAME_LIST. Allow them to remain
the default type of List Item, Poplists. For this situation we will not make
them base table items. Go to the property pallet of each list item, click on
the elements in list property and choose more. The cursor should be in the
very topmost item under List_Elements. Depress CTRL+SHIFT+< to remove this
default element and depress the OK button. Since you are going to populate the
list item with RG values at runtime you do not need this element. This will
avoid an "FRM-30351: No list elements defined for list item" error when
running the form.
CREATING THE RECORD GROUPS
For this example, we will use the dept and emp tables. We have a choice of
creating the Record Groups (RG) dynamically at runtime or at design
time. In this case, the easiest option is to create them at design time.
First create a RG called DEPT_GROUP with the following select statement:
SELECT TO_CHAR(DEPTNO) A,TO_CHAR(DEPTNO) B
FROM DEPT
If you are unfamiliar with the structure of the RG required when it will be
used to populate a list item please note the following:
1. A list item has both a label and a value. For this reason the select
statement brings back two fields, one which will be the label name and the other
the label value.
2. TO_CHAR is used to convert numeric values to character as the list item
contains character values.
Second, create a RG called ENAME_GROUP with the following select statement:
SELECT ENAME A, ENAME B FROM EMP ORDER BY ENAME
Note that depending upon your applications logic you may want to use the
distinct operator to prevent duplicate names. But you should be aware that
this will result in the overhead for sorting. Also, since ENAME is a VARCHAR2
data type, the to_char function is not needed.
POPULATING THE GROUPS AND LIST ITEMS
You can populate the RGs and list items from a number of triggers but the most
common is the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger. Place the following code in this
trigger:

departments in Dept and ENAME_LIST contains ALL the enames in the emp table.
As our original goal was to populate ENAME_LIST depending upon what was chosen
from DEPT_LIST, we will now add the code to do this. In this situation we will
add the code to a WHEN-LIST-CHANGED trigger on DEPT_LIST. The code should
look as follows:

First we will build a query that will contain the currently chosen department
in DEPT_LIST. This is basically the same query we created in RG ENAME_GROUP
but we are adding the where clause restriction. We then use the
populate_group_with_query built-in to repopulate the RG and then populate the
list again.
Run the form again and test. Choose department 10 from the DEPT_LIST list item
and then choose the ENAME_LIST item. You will note that the enames appearing
in ENAME_LIST will be those in department 10. This should work for any
department you choose.

How to Get the required List Item values by using Where Clause

I have two tables named "TAX_RULES","BILL"
1. " Tax_Rules" (Sub_Head_Code,Tax_ID,Tax_Percentage)

I have design form for both tables.
In BILL form i am trying to get values of Tax_ID from Tax_Rules table at run-time by using WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE.
For this whenever i select a Sub_Head_Code in Bill Form, all the Tax_IDs that i have recorded against each Sub_Head_Code which is either 1 or 2 against 6% and 3.5% respectively.
But I want that whenever i select a "Sub_Head_Code", Only that Tax_ID which is associated with that Sub_Head_Code ahould come in the LIST ITEM.
I have used WHERE clause but that is useless.
Following is the Code that i have applied in the WHE-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE Trigger at FORM LEVEL

In the Tax Rules table, you state:
"Sub_Head_Code" field is unique
In the Bill table, you state:
Sub_Head_Code and Tax_ID are behaving like composite foreign key from Tax_Rules table
If the Sub_Head_Code is unique, then it's acting as a primary key, so Sub_Head_Code and Tax_ID in the Bill table are not behaving like a composite foreign key. The Sub_Head_Code is a foreign key, and the Tax_ID is irrelevant as far as keys are concerned.
It is not clear what it is you want to do.
If you want to display the Tax_IDs from the Bill table when you select a Sub_Head_Code from the Tax_Rules table, then change your query to:
select TAX_ID, TAX_ID from BILL where Sub_Head_Code = :Tax_Rules.Sub_Head_Code
If you want to display the Tax_IDs from the Tax_Rules table when you select a Sub_Head_Code from the Bill table, then change your query to:
select TAX_ID, TAX_ID from TAX_RULES where Sub_Head_Code = :Bill.Sub_Head_Code
If this is not what you want, then clarify what it is you want to do. Don't say:
"I want that whenever i select a "Sub_Head_Code", Only that Tax_ID which is associated with that Sub_Head_Code"
because it is not clear what tables you are referring to.

Assuming you wish to improve typography of your web pages, you should know that Muse is fully integrated with Typekit. This allows you to access and apply over 500 web fonts from within Muse. Here's how you do it:
Select a text component within Muse, and click the Text drop-down.
Select Add Web Fonts option, to pop-open the Add Web Fonts dialog.
Browse and apply fonts per your design needs.

How can multiple family members use one account?

My children have iphones, ipads, ipods and mac books, my problem is how do you use home sharing with the devices and not get each others data. My Husband just added his iphone to the account and got all of my daughters contacts. I understand they could have there own accounts but if i buy music on itunes and both children want the same song, I don't feel i should have to pay for it twice. Is there away we can have home sharing on the devices and they can pick and choose what they want? and is this icloud going to make it harder to keep their devices seperate?

Iphoto crashing after using mini-dvi to video adapter

Hi, IPhoto on my Macbook is crashing. I can open it, then as soon as I scroll down it locks up and I have to force quit.
This started happening right after I used a Mini-DVI to Video Adapter cable to hook my macbook up to my TV. The adapter/s-video connection worked and I was able to see the video on the tv. But iphoto immediately locked up the computer when I went to slide show and now it locks every time I open it.
Any ideas?

It means that the issue resides in your existing Library.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Using SQVI to generate report of open and released delivery schedule lines

All,
I'm using SQVI to generate an excel spreadsheet for some buyers to show open released schedule lines because they are a 1 line item per scheduling agreement company.
I used the logical database MEPOLDB instead of a table joint and pulled fields from EKKO(vendor, SA #,&purchasing group), EKPO(Material Number), EKEH(schedule line type), and EKET(delivery date, scheduled qty,previous qty).
Does this sound like I'll get the results I want on paper as long as I use the right selection criteria, because the report I'm getting isn't quite what I expect? I am unable to identify which lines are authorized to ship vs. trade-off zone, planning, etc. in the report thus far.

I have faced same requirement. I am not sure about transporting to TST and PROD. I done by this way.
After generating SQVI program in DEV , I assigned that program to a transaction and tested in DEV. Later i have regenarated SQVI in Production. then I assigned the generated Program to same transaction in DEV. And transported the Tcode assignment of program to Production..
About authorization , if its not sensitive report, BASIS can restrict at transaction level.

Using Mini DVI to VGA adapter on MacBook

I bought the adapter from Apple & hooked up my LCD monitor to the MacBook, but the video I get on the monitor is different that on my laptop. It has an old screen background & the dock but nothing on my desktop shows up. Also, when I'm plugged to the monitor, my dock disappears on the laptop screen. Is there some setting I need to change? It worked fine with my G4 PowerBook.

i use the mini dvi-vga adapter in my classroom almost everyday. It sounds like your new monitor is running as a side by side monitor to your display instead of a "replacement" display.
To get your projector/monitor to basically show whatever is on your macbook screen once you've hooked up press F7....this should make your projector/monitory become your display with your dock & all of your desktop stuff. Your new monitor will completely mirror your display.
THis should do what you're looking for.

Using mini-DVI to VGA adapter to Samsung display

I have 2009 late model of mac mini, The text on display looks washed out, not clear or sharp at all from day one, I thought it was the old model of monitor, tried the same cable to another monitor on another computer, SAME. so I thought the problem could be the cable or adapter.
It's hard for me to believe is the signal from computer. I'm using VGA adapter made by Dynex bought from Best Buy.

Yeah, My old Samsung is lcd synmaster 17", bought many years ago at around $1000. Crazy, crazy price looked back. It's fine when I used it on the retired old Dell. It must be the adapter, trying not to buy another VGA adapter, could not image my next lcd will use one, anyway.
This cable has only 14 pins vs 15 pins on the other cable, not sure if it matters?? Or if Safari has anything to do with it??

Using S-Video w/ the Mini DVI to Video Adapter

I just purchased a MacBook last week and I also purchased a Mini DVI to Video adapter for it so I can use the built-in DVD player to watch movies on my TV. I have a composite to composite cable and that worked fine when I connected the cable between the Mini DVI to Video Adapter and my TV. However, when I tried to use a S-Video cable and connected that between the Mini DVI to Video Adapter and my TV; then I got no picture at all. All I saw on the TV was a picture of the MAC desktop w/o the dock and the movie or nothing else played at all.
Is the composite connection a better connection for the MAC, or, are there some settings I need to work with on the MAC to get the S-Video connection to work?

I managed to figure this one out, by fluke. The MacBook has to be powered on and ready for user input prior to connecting the mini DVI to video adapter with the s video already connected to it, and to the TV. Once I did it this way, it worked fine. I just thought I'd share this.

Using a mini-DVI to video adapter

I have connected the video adapter and everything works fine. I use the internet for my video source and I was just wondering, is it possible to have video playing fullscreen on the tv and have another window open on my desktop that I can work with without disrupting the video from the browser? Every time I watch something I am unable to work on my computer while the video is playing.

As far as I know, you can't go full screen on one monitor without it interfering with the other. I believe this would require a second video card, which isn't possible for a MacBook.
