Use of Procurement Card w/e-Business Suite (11.5.9)

Our company has made the decision to start using P Card. The company that we get the card from provides their own web-hosted application that allows for on-line review and approval routing of charges as well as reporting.
In my mind, this approach eliminates the need for us to use the "Procurement Card Management" functionality available under the Payables module of e-Business Suite 11i.
Can anyone provide a list of pros/cons to using card company's application vs. Oracle's functionality? Successes/failures?
Upon final approval of the credit card bill, we would also download files from the card provider's application into either Payables or General Ledger to record the spend. If we decide to download to Payables, we could load the transactions at the individual supplier level (as zero dollar invoices so as not to "double-up" on liability), thereby allowing us to record the actual spend at the supplier level.
Again, pros/cons to doing this? Guidance? Good idea/bad idea?, etc.
Any responses are most welcome! Thank you!

The Workflow Status monitor diagram is loaded using Applet that runs on JInitiator in E-Business Suite. There was an issue when loading the status monitor using SSL (HTTPS) and it was resolved and a patch is available on Metalink.
Please enable Java Console and load the status monitor. This will give the complete log of loading status monitor. This could help identify what the issue is and search in Metalink for hits.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

  • Using PCard, Procurement Card, Purchasing Card

Client wants to use pcards as part of the procurement process. They are planning on implementing ECC. If we use standard Preq and PO functionality, can we use Pcards? If so, what is the process flow?
Are Pcards only an SRM functionality?

    Hi
PCard is a visa or master card credit card that offers alternative procurement, issued to an individual and the individual is responsible for its use and may be personally liable if the card is misused.
    Functional Flow
        1. Create Purchase requisition ( can go for a custom doc type if required)
        2. Create Purchase Order ( Here the vendor is the Bank)
        3. Purchase with Credit Card.
        4. After goods are received Post the GR against PO.
        5. Card holder receives the bank statement
        6. Statement is sent to accounting office where it is reconciled.
        7. Post the invoice.
        8. Pcard issuer (Bank) is Paid.
    Hope it is clear.....

  • How to get E-Business Suite session.

I want to get E-business suite session in Java program.

    Hi User,
    TRY THIS..!!
    FND_GLOBAL.APPS_INITIALIZE (Server)
    Variable      Description
    Summary
    procedure APPS_INITIALIZE(user_id in number,
              resp_id in number,
              resp_appl_id in number);
Description      This procedure sets up global variables and profile values in a database session. Call this procedure to initialize the global security context for a database session. You can use it for routines such as Java, PL/SQL, or other programs that are not integrated with either the Oracle E-Business Suite concurrent processing facility or Oracle Forms (both of which already do a similar initialization for a database session). The typical use for this routine would be as part of the logic for launching a separate non-Forms session (such as a Java program) from an established Oracle E-Business Suite form session. You can also use this procedure to set up a database session for manually testing application code using SQL*Plus. This routine should only be used when the session must be established outside of a normal form or concurrent program connection
You can obtain valid values to use with this procedure by using profile option routines to retrieve these values in an existing Oracle E-Business Suite form session. For manual testing purposes, you can use Examine during an Oracle E-Business Suite form session to retrieve the profile option values.
    Variable      Description
    USER_ID      The USER_ID number
RESP_ID      The ID number of the responsibility
RESP_APPL_ID      The ID number of the application to which the responsibility belongs
    Example
    fnd_global.APPS_INITIALIZE (1010, 20417, 201);
    Hope this is Helpful

    Hi Sharukh,
Virtualization of course the trend in modern era, and I personally advice you to have a thorough testing on performance and specifically simulate workloads and check the behavior. I don't personally go on to support Virtualization on Production environment as it incurs additional cost like CPU usage, memory usage borrowed by other environment being virtualized. And as it does not directly work with the hardware. May be some will be against this point, but I see as if it incurs additional resources. Being said this, I am not completely against Virtualizationas long as it is not a heavy 24/7 environment. I would go on to support the ideology, saying it's best to choose the right technology to right environment.

  • Has anybody used JDev 10g to write an extension to 11i e-business suite?

We are looking to develop an application that can be called from within the menu structure of the 11i e-business suite and would like to use JDeveloper 10g.
I have read that the OA Extension for JDev 9 can be used for this, but I've also read that this OA extension has been replaced by ADF in 10g. Can we use ADF to obtain values such as user_id, responsibility_id, org_id from 11i?
Failing that, seeing as this is the only information from 11i that we will need in the new application, can we just pass these values in as parameters when initially calling the application?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as we cannot find ANY documentation detailing how to link ADF into 11i.

Just to clarify OAF is not ADF.
e-Business is based on OAF right now, and the fusion generation of Applications will be based on ADF.
While OAF uses UIX and BC4J (an early version of ADF BC) it is not the same as ADF.
If you want to use OAF you better ask the question on the OAF forum on OTN.
for ADF development you should use JDeveloper 10.1.3. ADF first appeared in JDeveloper 9.0.5 but things had evolved a lot since then.

  • Use of WD4A in Business Suite

    Hello,
a customer asked me where WebDynpro ABAP is used in Business Suite/ERP. I didn't find any information about this.
Do you have an overview for the Use of SAPGUI / WD4A / FPM in current versions of SAP products?
I just had in mind that within HCM many functions (for employees) are realized with WD4A...
    Regards
    Christopher

    Hi
In general Webdynpro Technologies  are used to develop the front end or user interfaces of business applications running
on sap back end system. For example if you take a business packages like ESS or MSS  the functionality is running on back end system where as the user interfaces where the users enters/views some data are developed by using webdynpro java or webdynpro abap
The front end developed by these webdynpro technologies are integrated into the SAP Enterprise portal where user login and use the applications
FPM is a kind of frame work used to develop the business packages front end applications

  • Use ADF in E-Business suite r12

    Hi
I user E-Business suite r12, is there any document how to use ADF embded inside OAF.
    Thanks

Yes, the document to follow is Oracle E-Business Suite Software Development Kit for Java (includes AppsDataSource, Java Authentication and Authorization Service, session management) Readme - Patch 13882058 (Doc ID 974949.1).
    This document says:
Building External Applications with Oracle ADF
External applications can be built with any appropriate Java EE framework, including
Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF). Because Oracle ADF is a
declarative framework, this document includes specific instructions for using Oracle
ADF with Oracle WebLogic Server for some features. This document has been written
using version 11.1.1.5 of Oracle ADF with version 10.3.5 of Oracle WebLogic server.

  • Must not use Java 1.7 when using E-Business Suite

This notification is being posted at the request of Oracle Corporation
All E-Business Suite desktop administrators must disable the JRE Auto-Update for their end users immediately to stop it updating to Java 1.7.
URGENT BULLETIN: Disable JRE Auto-Update for All E-Business Suite End-Users.
The following link from my fellow blogger Steve Chan explains more: https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/bulletin_disable_jre_auto_update
To disable automatic updates, you do this in the Java Control Panel using this workflow:
    1. From the Windows Start button launch Control Panel
    2. Double-click on the Java icon
    3. On the Update tab, uncheck the box that says Check for updates automatically.
    4. Click the OK button to complete
So why is this required? If you have Auto-Update enabled, your JRE 1.6 version will be updated to JRE 7. This may happen as early as July 3, 2012. This will definitely happen after Sept. 7, 2012, after the release of 1.6.0_35 (6u35).
Oracle Forms is not compatible with JRE 7 yet. JRE 7 has not been certified with Oracle E-Business Suite yet. Oracle E-Business Suite functionality based on Forms -- e.g. Financials -- will stop working if you upgrade to JRE 7.
If you have already upgraded to 1.7 but already have 1.6 you do not need to uninstall 1.7. You can just tell the system which one to use. You do this using this workflow:
    1. From the Windows Start button launch Control Panel
    2. Double-click on the Java icon
    3. On ths Java tab, click the View button
    4. Uncheck the Enabled box against 1.7 and check the box against 1.6
    5. Click the OK button to complete
There is also a known issue with WebLogic 10.3.6 and JDK 1.7 and you must use JDK 1.6 for that. I will be posting on my blog shortly about this issue.
Seems to me therefore that until further notice, even for Discoverer, but definitely for E-Business Suite that you must stay on Java 1.6.

    Hi Jerre
I hear your concern and when I heard about the issues with E-Business Suite and Java 7 I was horrified. After all, we kind of got used to this when Sun and Oracle were separate but now that Oracle own both you would think these problems would have gone away.
I'm not an insider to the problems with E-Business Suite and I urge anyone that is using it to wait for Oracle's solution and /or follow the great blog owned by Steven Chan which is dedicated to EBS. I took another look a few minutes ago and the advice is still the same - to NOT upgrade to Java 7 if you have E-Business Suite you need to roll back to Java 6 and turn off the automatic updates.
As for Discoverer, I have 10g clients whose workstations were automatically upgraded to Java 7 and had their applications fail. I have always advised my clients to turn off automatic updating of Java and keep their client Java at the same level as the server. There were serious issues here in the past but those were when Sun and Oracle were separate. We had compatibility issues when servers were on Java 5 and workstations upgraded to Java 6 and it looks like we may be having the same problems between Java 6 and Java 7.
I tend to notice far fewer problems in corporate environments when IT departments manage the versions of Java on their servers and workstations rather than let it auto upgrade.
It was me who uncovered a bug in 11.1.1.6 where the Java 7 JDK was not working. Since then Oracle issued a Discoverer patch to allow it to work with Java 7 so for users of 11.1.1.6 you should be OK now to go ahead and allow Java to upgrade. Mind you, if the same workstations need to connect to Forms or E-Business Suite the advice given earlier to not upgrade stilll applies - that is unless someone knows otherwise.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • Using ADF in E-Business Suite

    Hello
We are trying to develop an ADF page which can be accessible through Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and user should be able to achieve navigation between EBS and ADF both ways. I have come across following document on Oracle support which mentions how it can be done
    document ID 1296491.1
Now above link mentions that the ADF application needs to be deployed to WebLogic server. However due to cost considerations, I have following queries
    1. Can we deploy ADF application to Oracle E-Business Suite Apps server using any ADF libraries (I guess ADF run time libraries)?
    2. If above 1. is not possible, are there any other open source servers we can use?
    Thanks,
    Gourishankar

ADF requires Java EE 5 compatible server - OC4J doesn't meet these requirements.
You can upgrade your EBS to run on WebLogic, and then you can use the same server for both ADF and EBS.

  • Use FDM to write mapped data TO (not from) E-Business Suite staging DB

    Hello All,
Looking for the most efficient method to write FDM mapped data TO (not from) Oracle E-Business Suite staging DB.
    Any thoughts/suggestions are most appreciated.

You can use the data mart adapter to export the FDM Mapped Data to a file to be imported into EBS.
You could also use ERPI and use the writeback functionality.

  • Load Balancing E-Business Suite 11i using BIG-IP

"Has anyone deployed an Oracle E-Business Suite 11i solution in a load balanced environment based on the F5 BIG-IP 2400 device?"
    Background:
When loadbalanced, Oracle forms requires a form of persistence to be in place, presumably to maintain state information.
If using simple persistence based on client source IP address, then there is no problem.
However in our environment, 1000s of clients are hidden behind the single IP address of a proxy server, therefore simple persistence will provide true load balancing.
The alternative is cookie based persistence which will allow true load balancing even with clients hidden behind a proxy. However the challenge here is that Oracle Forms is java and not http based which means that BIG-IP cannot insert an http cookie into the java packets sent to the client by the Oracle server.
If anyone has come across this issue and found a way round it, could you please describe how this is achieved? Either by configuration of the BIG-IP switch or at the Oracle Application side.
