Use of proxy media in viewing, then exporting projects from FCPx

I am trying to get my head around the use of proxy media in FCPx and would appreciate feedback
Up till now, having used H.264 files from various cameras, I have not had the need to use proxy files. I get smooth playback etc, no issues. Now, however, using the Blackmagic Pocket CC, and find that when I am 'on the run' and using a USB external drive, or even a firewire 800 drive, it struggles to playback the very large Prores files.
I understand the use of proxy media files in playback, and to assist with smooth editing.
Where I am lost is in how to ensure that any exported files from FPCx, either directly (or if I send to Compressor) are using the high quality Prores files, and not exporting based on the proxy files
I see well, how to change the file for playback from prores to proxy and back, but how do I ensure the high quality file is used for export ?

The playback switch berween proxy/originals also switches what is to be used when sharing.
When switching to originals and requesting to share the switch is locked until the sharing process completes (so you can continue editing, but using originals only).
Not sure if this affects Compressor. I believe not.

1. What format is the external drive? It sounds like it's ina format that Macs can't write to. Is it a NAS or NTFS?
2. Easiest thing: just move your iPhoto Library to the external
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

Export Project from Eclipse..?

As already suggested, you can export the entire Eclipse project as an archive like zip/tar, copy the archive to other system, extract and import it as an existing project into Eclipse on that system.
Now to export an entire Eclipse project into an archive file, you can use File -> Export and select "Archive File" (under category "General") from the list of options and select the project you would like to export. It will create the archive of your project's filesystem including classpath and buildpath entries. You would have to ensure that all the classpath and buildpath entries, ATG Root etc. are valid on the system where you import it or you can update them manually if required.

Missing control knobs after exporting project from iPad to Macbook

Hi, I recently purchased a macbook pro and started using GarageBand on it. I have GarageBand projects on my iPad and I already managed to export them via iTunes and I can access them on my Mac. But, I am having problems with reaching the same control settings (control knobs) for keyboards that I had on iPad. For example I recorded something with the software instrument Sabertooth which had an "LFO rate" knob (pot meter) in the iPad's version of Garageband but it seems like I only can reach different type of control knob setting in the Macbook's version of Garagaband. Have you met this problem or could you tell me if it is possible to reach and modify the same parameters that I had in GarageBand on the iPad? I would appreciate any kind of help. Thank you.

I went to the Apple Genius Bar at my local Apple store. They gave me the solution. In case anyone else encounters this situation, plug the iPad into the iMac, Click on the iPad device manager in iTunes, click on the apps tab, under the filesharing section click on iMovie app, and when the movies wanting to be deleted appears there, select them all and hit the delete key. There are no instructions on the screen to show this. The only options the screen shows is add to or save as. But the delete key does work and frees up the space of the iPad itself.

Can I edit a HD project in SD, then export HD from the original files?

I have a project that has been shot in HDV that, for a couple of reasons, I have to edit on my laptop instead of my rather powerful desktop. As well as it being HDV (1080 50i), it's also going to need lots of effects adding to it. Now, my laptop is pretty good for a laptop, but I know it's not going to be able to handle this - it plays back HDV choppily at the best of times, so this would give it a heart attack.
So I was wondering - would it be possible to take the captured HDV files, export them as SD files (like standard DV Microsoft AVI), which my laptop can handle easily, edit using those files but then, at the end, export the video in 1080 50i from the original captured HDV files (using my desktop if necessary)?
I think I've seen or heard this discussed before, because that's where I got the idea from. So is it possible, and if so, how?

Also thanks for making me realise that what I'm looking for is called proxy editing - if I'd known that, I would have found much more useful information when I first googled for it! I've actually just tried something similar, playing around with the first 30 seconds of my footage. I've exported it as two files - HD.mpeg and SD.avi, created a new project, imported the AVI, did a simple edit, added some lighting effects, saved it, then closed. I then moved the AVI file and reopened the project - of course it told me the file was missing and asked me where it was. I pointed it to HD.mpeg instead of SD.avi and it accepted it - the project is now in HD with the edit and effects intact. That's basically exactly what I wanted, there's just one problem I can foresee - I'll have to edit the 720x576 footage in 1440x1080 sequences, leaving a huge margin around the edges in the sequence monitor. I can live with that by zooming in on it, until I have to crop a shot, then it's going to be tricky to get it scaled and positioned correctly. I'm going to make some kind of guide to overlay it, see how that works out - it should do me for this one project.

Reg stmfadm - unable to view a exported lun from ESXi

We have a system installed with solaris 11 and created 4 luns and exported to ESXi via iSCSI.
We could able to see 3 luns. One lun is not getting listed in ESXi under configuration --> storage adapters section.
Is there any logs, we can check to troubleshoot this issue?
We have created another lun and exported.We could see the newly created lun.However we could not see the old lun. Do you have any idea?

It says these extended packs are needed only if the reader of the document wishes to interact in some way with its content, for example, by collaborating, commenting, or filling out forms. Whereas in my case the exported pdf is just required for view purpose. So will it really be helpful ?

When exporting videos from fcpx, videos get filled with interlacing issues. using Canon HF G10, no issues while in FCPX, except when exported.

I don't understand why this is happening? It doesn't happen all the time, only with some videos. Haven't changed my settings or anything. Exporting in H.264.

This is the issue. Obviously this picture makes it look a little more dramatic but that's what it looks like when moving frame by frame. I was told by someone that this is called interlacing, but they may be wrong and I may be in the complete wrong discussion. But if they're correct, then no, I do not want it to be interlaced. Does iTunes offer any functionality for permanet backup to external hard drive? Or, do we have to just copy files form AppData...Backup, re-direct, etc?

See this backup tip. The main thing to backup is your iTunes library. Although you can also backup the device backup sets reintegrating these into iTunes isn't easy. In the event of a problem it is best to restore/migrate the library to an new/rebuilt machine and then immediately backup your devices rather than attempting to move the iOS backups. Note that iTunes normal maintains one rolling backup of each device. I've just discovered that Mac users can optionally archive these but for Windows user the only way to do the same thing is to backup and then immediately restore the device. Doing this every month or so gives you a chance to recover if don't discover a problem until after you've backed up a device.

What folder is the music stored in? I can see the music on my phone under My Music but I cannot see it on the V CAST Media Manager.

It really depends on how you got the music on there in the first place. Usually, I think, it goes into a music folder. Also, make sure to check both the SD card and internal storage.

Export project from final cut pro to Avid

What are my options to create a workflow that implies doing my last trims on Avid (Adrenaline and Nitris?)
My idea is to create almost ended videos on Final cut Pro 5 by myself and expend a last day or two on an Avid Nitris to do the final touches, mixing audio and output the stuff...
the videos are industrial video and small budget commercials that requires more effects that Final Cut can offer me...

First off, you'll need PRO EXPORT FCP>AVID from www.automaticduck.com.
Then you'll need to recapture all the footage used in the sequence into the Avid, since FCP and Avid capture media differently.

If it is like project plan or kind of audit plan then you can use sap audit management process, where we can import and export plans between sap and MS project and through both online and offline we can update the data.

Exporting project from one mac to another

Hi, I have a project in Aperture 3 with referenced images stored on an external hard drive. I want to export this project across to another Mac without the RAW files being copied across as well. I had hoped to re-reference the masters (RAW files) simply by plugging the hard -drive into the Mac and re-connecting referenced files.
Is this possible at all ?

When you export as a lbrary you have the option of not including any referenced masters into the library:
Just make sure Consolidate masters into exported library is not checked.
When you get this library over to the other Mac and connect the HD with the masters on it you probaply will have to run File->Locate Referenced Files to reconect the masters. But Aperture uses UUID's to identify disks so you might get lucky and not have to do this step.

Exporting project from Premiere Pro CS3 to Encore CS3

If I export and specify no menues and specify burn, medium quality to DVD, Encore asks me to insert blank media into a CD R/W drive. I have to cancel the operation and select the DVD R/W drive that is also displayed in the device delection.. How do I make it default to the DVD R/W drive when asking for blank media?
