Use of QM in Process Industry

Hi,
QM Expert ,I am from automobile sector, I want to know the detail requrement of SAP QM  in process industry,as per my knowedge only shelf life scenario is different other than all processes of QM ,please give the detail Scenario of relating QM in process industry in detail
Regards
Aditya

hi
QM in process industry can have a significant difference from Normal Automobile or Production system.
It can be
1.Batch manegment can  form significant part of Process Industry.
2.Recurring inspection is also  huge part of Process Industry
3.Inspection points along with sample drawing procedure in Inspection planning can be used in process industry.
4.Shelf life material as you mensioned is significant.-->stability study
5.Instead of Production orders Process order are used in Process industry.
These are more or less can be observed in any process industry.

  • Raw material planning for process industry.

    I am going to implement SAP R/3 in process industry where i get raw material from farmers.I have to accept all raw material from surrounding villages because it's a government rule.So its necessary that all farmers should produce well quality yield. For that they must follow standard procedure to grow their crop.Is it possible to plan this using SAP PP?
    How to face this type of sceanrieo?

    Hi kiran Ghule,
    With the functions of the Quality Management (QM) module, you can implement it.
    The QM application component supports tasks associated with quality planning, quality inspection and quality control. In addition, it controls the creation of quality certificates you can do this
    Explore your self in this module if any problem then come back.

  • Process industry master data creation

    Hi,
    In discrete manufacturing if we have alternate bom or routings then it can be used through production version. But in process industry it seems bom has to be created first and bom has to be assigned in production version and through production version master recipe has to be created for that.
    In process industry let me know which master data has to be created first. Kindly clear my doubt.
    Regards / US

    Hi,
    In process industry you can create BOM in both ways....
    Method 1: Create BOM through CS01.... after this create master recipe... then you create Production version for the combination of BOM and recipe... same like in discrete....
    Method 2: while creating master recipe you can create BOM from there during this process system will ask you for production version...
    Now It is up to you to decide which one is flexible to use....
    Thanks

  • Production of mango in processing industry

    Hi,
    We have one scenario ,company is in process industry,they are manufacturing MANGO pulp,babana powder.
    The problem is that company itself having mango trees and banana trees and they are using these mangos and bananas for their finish product  means mango and  banana used as a  raw material.
    So,client producing raw material as wll as finish product,
    I want to know how production of mango and banana will be mapped in SAP right from planning to production .
    Note that these are seasonal fruits,so how they will plan beacuse water and fertilisers will consume through out period and production will happen in season only.
    Regards,
    vidyasagar

    Dear,
    How about maintain seperate plant for manufacture part. And Process as separate plant.
    By this you can capture manufacturing expenses like all maintenance, cropping, fertilization expenses at PLANT 1.
    And rest at PLANT 2.
    By this PLANT1 end can get a final price for the mangoes and can supply to PLANT2 as raw material. The rest processing can capture in PLANT2.
    The source for the answer from my side is WATER TREATMENT PLANT.
    The client process the miniral water and he owns the source of water supply like wells. Client supply through pipeline the raw material water (a distance of 60-70 kilometers range) to the processing plant. At source point client have maintenance for motors, maintenance of wells and lots of engineering and HR expenses. At final in plant he process, purification and some other process to make final product. Suggested with 2 plants and client agreed for this.
    What about this same process with your client??

    Syed Hussain.

    Hi
    See in your case, the mango fruit become mango pulb after some operations and the addition of some thing correct.
    so it have the bom and the routing obviously.
    in your bom  MANGO PULP - the components will be MANGO + WATER+FERTILISER
    you can add the water and fertiliser in planning or you can maintained as the comsumable materials.
    so as for you plan. the MANGO is the only material you need to plan to procure.since this is the season one. i think they will preserve it for the full year porduction.
    so you need to two planning for MANGO and the final product MANGO PULP.
    for MANGO , you need to plan such  a way that how much you need to preserve to produce the final mangao pulp.
    for MANGO PULP, you need to do the forecst as per the previous year sale. you can use the SEASION forecasrt menthod.
    revert back if any clearfication recuired.

  • CTM planning for process industry

    Hi,
    We are taking CTM planning run in a process industry scenario where we are having continuous processing. But when we do CTM planning CTM creates PP/DS planned order to meet the delivery date of orders and for some orders their are unscheduled gaps between operation due to non availability of next resource.
    Is it possible to create orders in CTM without any unscheduled gaps between the operations as is the case in case of orders created using PP/DS?

  • Difference Between Production Industry & Process Industry

    Hi Freinds,
                  Hi have a query. What is the major difference between Production Industry & Process Industry?
    I will give you a following example. Please carefully read it.
                   Take a example of TATA Motors. We all know it produces automobiles. So we will consider it as a Production Industry. But at the same time it uses the Paint to paint the vehicles is produced by it only. So can we call it as a Process Industry? If yes please explain it.
                    I will award deserving points accordingly for every reply.
    Thanks & Regards
    Saeed Arif

    production:- conversion / processing the raw materials to finished products.
    differen type of industry:
    job type of industry:- this is of mainly MAKE TO ORDER TYPE , suiting the particular customer requirments , after getting the order only you start doing the production
    eg:- Turbine mfg by BHEL, Aircrafts and ship buildings etc.
    so here your planning and costs change one order.
    Repetative mfg or Batch tpe production: here the products wll be made in batches as lots eg 2000no or 5000nos qty as batches ,
    here the planning and costing etc will differ from one batches to another.
    eg: Automobile , apperal industry. this can be produced by strategies MAKE TO STOCK or by MAKE TO ORDER,
    PROCESS INDUSTRY OR CONTINOUS TYPE OF PRODUCTIONS:
    in this type of industry the Process remains same (constant) and procucts may with slight variation in composition,  in this type of industy almost every thing is mechanised . this type of indstry will have LINE LAY OUT/PRODUCT LAYOUT
    ie at one entry all the materials go in one line and processed and at the end of the line you will be getting finished products. the complete line will be controlled by automated sensors by using sopostigated sensors. the only problem here is that in LINE  if one macine /station is have break down the complete production will comes to halt as one machine/station output is going to be input for oher staion/machine.
    eg: cement, paints , food and beverages etc.
    you can seggregate indstry type by materials or by the type of layout(ie mfg line)
    so now coming to your doubt : TATA - AUTOMOBILES following hybrid type of laty out  ie mfg of automobiles is functional  layout , where there is flexibilty of planning , from paint sections on wards it follows line layout  ..
    so you have to call it is as product industry , intern which have line layout for cetain operations , which pertains  to  process industry...

  • How to exctract data from a report to use it in a process

    Hi! I would like to know how to exctract data from a report to use it in a process. Let's say that I have a report which have following fields: id_person, name_person. And then, I want to make a process which introduce the id_person (from report) into an associative tabel. How can I reffer to the fields from my report?
    I was thinking about something like that( this should be the code from my process)
    insert into associative_table(id_person)
    values(id_person) or
    insert into associative_table(id_person)
    values(Report_name.id_person) but it doesn't work....
    Thank you very much.

    Another option, use collections.
    Create an on load process that loads all the rows you would have in your report into a collection:
    begin
    HTMLDB_COLLECTION.CREATE_OR_TRUNCATE_COLLECTION(
    p_collection_name => 'ASSIGNED_CALENDAR_CONTACTS' );
    for x in (SELECT CONTACT_ID, CONTACT_FNAME, CONTACT_LNAME
    FROM CONTACT
    WHERE InStr( pkg_CalendarMgr.f_FetchContactIDsForDay( TO_DATE( :P3_CALENDAR_DT, 'YYYYMMDD' ), 'OF' ), CONTACT_ID ) > 0 )
    loop
    htmldb_collection.add_member(p_collection_name => 'ASSIGNED_CALENDAR_CONTACTS',
    p_c001 => x.CONTACT_ID,
    p_c002 => x.CONTACT_FNAME,
    p_c003 => x.CONTACT_LNAME);
    end loop;
    end;
    Then, instead of your report selecting from the table, have it select from the collection, this way your display will match what's in the collection:
    SELECT c001, c002 || Chr(32) || c003 CONTACT_NAME, 'Remove' remove
    FROM htmldb_collections
    WHERE collection_name = 'ASSIGNED_CALENDAR_CONTACTS'
    ORDER BY c003, c002
    Then you can have a button on the form that steps through the collection, one element at a time and does whatever you want it to.

  • Using BAPI_PO_CREATE1  in parallel processing

    Hi experts,
    I am using BAPI_PO_CRATE1 in parallel processing to create multiple Purchase Orders. The Programs is creating only one PO (the Ist one)  however it should create multiple PO as per the program and data.
    For rest of the data it is returning error message saying "No instance of object type PurchaseOrder has been created".
    Please suggest how can I fix this issue.
    Points are sure.
    Thanks & Regards.

    Without looking at some poriton of the code around this call and your parallel processing logic, it will be difficult to say.

  • Use of events in process chains

    Hi All,
    Could some one help me in givving me detailed information about the use of events in process chains with some examples .How are they used and what are they performed in background .I am going to start,creating process chains according to the requirements which are based on event scheduling before ..
    Your detailed information is really appreciated..
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
    Suppose your process chain needs to be started after certain activity is finished, then you can create an event to be triggered when that activity is done. The process chain will start once it gets that triggered event.
    This is one use in using events in Process Chains.
    Thanks,

    Do I need to use camera raw to process raw images b4 editing with PSE? And if so do I need to download it seperately? I can't find it under help/updates in PSE

    What version of PSE and which camera? Normally, if you try to open a raw file into the editor, the camera raw window should pop up automatically.

    Hi,
    Process industry where the production process is set and its continuous or batch production
    e.g.consumer goods
    discrete is like industry having production as per order only
    e.g.machine manufacturer
    You have certain industry specific scenarios in SAP to map these
