- Use of ResourceBundle without Locales
Hello!
I'm trying to use a ResourceBundle to store properties that arn't locale-specific - its a sort of look-and-feel type arrangement. The way more specific ResourceBundles inherit properties from more general ones would be really useful, but since its not a locale that's used to pick a particular bundle I'm having trouble working out how I can use it for this purpose.
Has anybody used ResourceBundles for non-locale specific uses before, or does anyone know of anything else that might be more appropriate?
Thanks loads for any help!!

NicolaYes, you make up your own Locales with anything you want in place of the language, country, and variant. As long as you're not setting the Locale, it works great!
ResourceBundle laf = new ResourceBundle.getBundle("skins.properties", new Locale("flavor", "chocolate",""));will get all resources in skins.properties and over-riding entries from skins_flavor_chocolate.properties".

ResourceBundle and Locale ?
Hi All,
Anybody please tell me what is the use of ResourceBundle and Locale ?
Can I use it in my util/Servlet class ?
What is the advantage of using it ?
Please reply soon
Thanks
Harish PathakResourceBundle is a utility class provided by the java.util package which internally uses ClassLoader and loads files which .properties extension.
Incase you wish to make your application Region or Language specific. Then you can use the Locale concept of ResourceBundle and have multiple property files for each region.
You can set the Locale for the ResourceBundle like en_US where region is US and language is en (english) and it will load the appropriate property file.
--- For your information
Gets a resource bundle using the specified base name, locale, and class loader.
Conceptually, getBundle uses the following strategy for locating and instantiating resource bundles:
getBundle uses the base name, the specified locale, and the default locale (obtained from Locale.getDefault) to generate a sequence of candidate bundle names. If the specified locale's language, country, and variant are all empty strings, then the base name is the only candidate bundle name. Otherwise, the following sequence is generated from the attribute values of the specified locale (language1, country1, and variant1) and of the default locale (language2, country2, and variant2):
baseName + "_" + language1 + "_" + country1 + "_" + variant1
baseName + "_" + language1 + "_" + country1
baseName + "_" + language1
baseName + "_" + language2 + "_" + country2 + "_" + variant2
baseName + "_" + language2 + "_" + country2
baseName + "_" + language2
baseName
Candidate bundle names where the final component is an empty string are omitted. For example, if country1 is an empty string, the second candidate bundle name is omitted.
getBundle then iterates over the candidate bundle names to find the first one for which it can instantiate an actual resource bundle. For each candidate bundle name, it attempts to create a resource bundle:
First, it attempts to load a class using the candidate bundle name. If such a class can be found and loaded using the specified class loader, is assignment compatible with ResourceBundle, is accessible from ResourceBundle, and can be instantiated, getBundle creates a new instance of this class and uses it as the result resource bundle.
Otherwise, getBundle attempts to locate a property resource file. It generates a path name from the candidate bundle name by replacing all "." characters with "/" and appending the string ".properties". It attempts to find a "resource" with this name using ClassLoader.getResource. (Note that a "resource" in the sense of getResource has nothing to do with the contents of a resource bundle, it is just a container of data, such as a file.) If it finds a "resource", it attempts to create a new PropertyResourceBundle instance from its contents. If successful, this instance becomes the result resource bundle.
If no result resource bundle has been found, a MissingResourceException is thrown. -
Use of Services without SR and ESR
Hello, for this one I need to explain something:
I'm writing my diploma about ESOA. Because of this I allready have created a application which uses Enterprise Services. But because I used the ESWorkplace I've had some restrictions.
- If I used the SR of the ESWorkplace together with a in my CE generated Destination I could not use the Services because the SR gave me the SAP internal URL to the service(iwdf...) which I could not reach. I solved this problem the following way:
- Get the Service-WSDL-Url from the ESWorkplace
- Create a WSDL Destination in the CE with the WSDL-URL from above and the System-Data of HU2
- Use this Destination in WD Java for an adaptive Web Service Model and again the WSDL-URL
With these steps I was able to use the Services. But I had to create a destination for every single Webservice. It's ok, it worked and this was everything I wanted. But as a result of this I haven't used the ESR and the SR at all. Because all i needed was the WSDL-Url of the service and the system data of the corresponding System.
Now the question comes up: In case of a ERP System with installed Enhancement Packs without an SR or ESR: Would I be able to use the Services in the same way? I mean: in /wsadmin on HU2 I'm able to get the wsdl-Url. But could this information also be found there without a SR or ESR?
I have tried to use the services of a CRM 2007 System (which has preinstalled services as CustomerQuoteByID) we physically have here in our company. But I simply don't get the needed WSDL-URL. In fact the Service can't be found in /wsadmin. Is this because of the missing SR and ESR? Or am I doing something wrong?
I really don't get the neccessarity of the SR and ESR at all. Ok, I know what I can do with them. Modelling Services with the ESR or using them if I don't have a supplier. And Browsing available Services in the SR. But if a customer has no CE or PI and because of this no SR and ESR: Would there be a way for using his services. Don't get me wrong: I know how to use bapis and rfcs, and I also know the the ES only use the BAPIs with an additional Interface with some extra functionality like failure and exception handling. But how to use these ES without the ESR and SR?
I hope you understand my question. I would be very happy about an reply!

Can you use RoboSourceControl 3 on local hard drive?
Hello,
I'm researching how to use RoboSource Control 3 and am not
sure that I'm understanding how to get it set up. I've read quite a
few forum questions and answers, including "Use RoboSourceControl 3
without RoboServer," and spent a good bit in the RoboSource Control
3 help file and I still am missing something. It is my
understanding from what the help states, that you need to have
RoboHelp Server installed to use RoboSource 3. In my readings on
the forum, I saw something that says you don't need RoboHelp Server
to use RSC3. The help instructions state that you need to create a
database and set up a connection to a server, but I know that we
can't work on the server, so would this just be to store the full
project - not just the output? Is it possible to use RoboSource 3
on your hard drive only. If so, how can this work?
The only purpose that our team really needs it is so we can
keep versions temporarily - for instance until we are certain that
the changes we make to a project are going to be released. We have
tossed around the idea of creating backup folders for each, then
deleting them when we are certain we won't need it, but the concern
is that these won't get deleted (too busy and forget) and then we
have oodles of files just sitting there taking up space.
Thanks for any direction on this.
MicheleRSC3 is a repository database that tracks versions for you.
It can be installed on
a server (RoboHelp Server not needed) or on a local machine
if that user will be the only one accessing the project.
If on a local machine, you would establish a separate
directory for your RSC database and a separate directory for your
project's "working folder." Also, there's no need to involve your
output files (it's called source control, after all).
Good luck,
Leon -
NFS write access without local user
Hi,
I try to get write access to NFS from one to another linux system without local user account and group.
System 1. /etc/exports -->set nfs share /backup
Folder /backup all files owned by oracle:oinstall
oracle(104):oinstall(106) 664
System 2. user: root(1):root(1)
#>mount -t nfs .....
All files are owned by userid 104 and groupid 106
I can get write access If I change userid and group id on system 2 to 104/106 but I think that could be smart way.
Does anyone know the right was to get write access without have a same local user(id) and group(id)
Thanks
*TYou can try the following in your /etc/exports file:
/backup *(rw,insecure,all_squash,anonuid=104,anongid=106)
Then reload the exports file using the command "service nfs reload"The above will allow rw access to the /backup directory and map all requests to the nobody account and remap the nobody account uid and guid to 104 and 106 of the nfs server system. The insecure option is required by some PCNFS clients. For more detailed information please check the exports man page. -
Ruby threads cannot be used in RubyCocoa without patches to the Ruby interp
Hi,
We are getting an error message while running the iTunes U work flow. We get this each time ithe work flow runs it seems. The error message is in the Podcast Producer error log. Here is the error message. /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/ge ms/mongrel-1.1.5/bin/../lib/mongrel.rb:285:in `run': Ruby threads cannot be used in RubyCocoa without patches to the Ruby interpreter
How can I do this update or fix this problem please?
Thank you,

You may have to compile ruby...(/usr/local/bin/*) like I did. This worked for me.
If you already did this, everything will be groovy. Then if you are having trouble with mysql see this: http://hivelogic.com/articles/compiling-mysql-on-snow-leopard/ -
GroupWise 6.5.7 distribution without local admin rights
I would like to distribute the GroupWise 6.5.6up1 (6.5.7) client
installation (from 6.5.1).
Im using the setup.cfg and setup.ini to have an unattended installation.
It is working great with local admin rights.
Now I would like to distribute this version with ZENworks. Im using the
workstation object (association) so the distribution will take place when
the workstation starts up.
But (as far as I can see) the registration of DLLs will not take place.
What kind of alternatives are there to distribute GroupWise without local
administrator rights?
Thanks.
Armand.Thanks for the reply.
The .aot files give problems, dll files are missing (the known
vslwp7.dll) and I found a lot of bad experiences on the forums with the
viewer etc.

Using iphot across a local network wirh PC
I have my photos on an external hard drive attached to a networked PC.
Can I use iphoto across the network and leave the pictures in the original place?
Thank youTheoretically yes, practically no. Using a referenced library locally is a precarious operation and over a network would be even more so.
If at any time you launched iPhoto without the source files available you will cause iPhoto to lose the link to the files. Each time you try to view photo you'll get a message the the source file cannot be found as asks you to locate it. You would have to do that with each photo. If you're lucky relinking one photo in an Event (this assumes they are all in the same folder on the PC) will relink all the photos in that folder.
Also, if the source photos are moved, renamed or edited directly they will be lost to iPhoto.
Then there's the situation regarding the formatting of the drive they are on. Not that critical if it's just the photos you're storing and referencing to because all edits and changes to the library would be written to the library on your Mac.
You certainly can try it. Worst case scenario is you'll lose all your organizational efforts, i.e. just time and effort. You won't lose your photos.
If you're linked wirelessly to the PC that adds another level of problems. Dropouts on wireless networks are not uncommon and experiencing one while trying to access the source files can lead to losing the link to that file.
If the effort you put into your photo's organization is important and extensive then I'd think twice about running a referenced library.

Using nvidia-settings without X/over ssh
I have a computer with an nvidia GTX 670 that I want to control remotely. However, I have problems using nvidia-settings over ssh. When trying to use it, I get this error:
ERROR: Cannot open display ':0.0'.
When a user is logged in an xfce session locally, I can use nvidia-settings without issue, using the command line over ssh. As soon as I log out from the xfce session, I get

Since you do have a local monitor, it may be easier not having to fake one. I don't have a monitor, I haven't gotten around to trying the Xorg stuff yet. -
Is there any way I can use bi beans without the patches
I am a Chinese student,I am doing some research on OLAP.
I'm in the initial stages of evaluating BI Beans for my research. We have previously not used Oracle in house.
In attempting to use BI Beans, the first thing you must do is install the latest patches against the Oracle database. Unfortunately, the patches are only available for people with a suport contract.
Is there any way I can get these patches without a support contract, or is there any way I can use bi beans without the patches?
thanks alot,You must have a valid support contract to access Metalink. You could try contacting your local support centre and ask if they could make the patches available to you.

Using Time Capsule Without Network Connection
In my room I have a USB printer connected to my Time Capsule. Without configuring the time capsule to connect to my home's wireless network I'd like to:
- Back up to my time capsule wirelessly using Time Machine
- Be able to print wirelessly
Is this possible? If so, how?
Thank you.No it isn't possible.
Edit.. LOL!! my answer is opposite to BOB.. I assume you want internet at the same time. He is assuming you will swap from using internet to only using the TC in local network and hence removing all internet connections. So my answer is based on how to get them working at the same time.
What you want is two separate wireless networks.. with no links. And to use both networks simultaneously on only one wireless client card. No can do!!
What is possible.
You have to connect the TC to the main wireless router. I strongly recommend this be done by ethenet or an ethernet replacement technology like Ethernet over Power EOP .. the adapters are now cheap and fast enough for wireless link. You will turn off wireless in the TC although you can also set it up with identical ssid and security on a different channel.. then you have one flat network and all devices can roam.
Alternatively..
You need two wireless clients in the laptop/computer you use.
You can buy a usb stick compatible with the OS used.. os x although you nowhere state the type of system. USB stick wireless are cheap and plenty are available that will work fine with Mac OS drivers.
On the USB stick, setup manual network with different IP subnet to the main router, and no gateway or dns. This will allow you to communicate to two different subnets at the same time. (On OS X it does not strictly need such care with gateway and dns as you can control the order of devices better than on a pc.. just the same I would do it manually)
Of course you could also just plug in ethernet and do the same thing.
As per Bob definitely do the backup numero uno by ethenet.. it will take ages by wireless and the chance of a corrupted backup is so so much greater in which case it will just start again. -
I'm headed to Europe in a month with an iPad 2 w/ATT 3G. Will I be able to use the 3G without excess roaming fees?
I have just been back from Germany. Using GPRS/EDGE or 3G Roaming will certainly incur additional cost to you. However, there are many service providers in Europe with different 3G using rates/KB and minimum KB usage per log-in. Check price before you log-in to any network.
Recommend to check 1) your local mobile operator for Roaming promotion in Europe or 2) buy International SIM from your country with very lower cost of calling, receiving calls, and using data (I am not sure your country has these kind of service provider). -
how can i use my account without the billing info, as i do not have a credit card. and my shipping and billing info is under US. i'm in singapore. how do i change this?
If you are just visiting Singapore, then leave the account as it is. If you have moved there, then view your account using the iTunes app on a Mac or PC and change the country/region to your current location and address. If you do not have a bank card, you can fund your account using iTunes gift cards if available in Singapore.

Hi All,
I need to get the "Creation Script" of the existing table using c# and without using SMO dlls (is it possible? I don't know).
I.e. In SQL Management Studio -> right click on any table -> Script table as -> Create To - > open in the new query editor window. This will give you the schema of the table with the constraints of the table.
For E.g. In Northwind database, for the table "Categories", I would like to get it as show below
USE [Northwind]
GO
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Categories](
[CategoryID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[CategoryName] [nvarchar](15) NOT NULL,
[Description] [ntext] NULL,
[Picture] [image] NULL,
CONSTRAINT [PK_Categories] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
[CategoryID] ASC
)WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY]
) ON [PRIMARY] TEXTIMAGE_ON [PRIMARY]
GO
I would like to get the same schema using c#. Please help.
Thanks & Regards,
Kalai.SMO is the easiest way to get this. This is what Management Studio uses. If you can't use SMO, get a Profiler trace of the queries that SMO executes when generating the script and execute the same using ADO.NET.
