Use of SAP HANA Runtime for ECC/ERP as a DataWarehouse for BI

As I understand, Enterprise DataWarehouse licence for HANA and ECC Runtime license for HANA are two different categories.
Has there been any change recently in the terms and conditions of Runtime HANA License to be able to use as datawarehouse license as well for those customers who hold SAP BO Suite for Enterprise license?
Being litle more explainatory to this, can SAP Runtime HANA database be used for putting external data which is non ECC/ERP related.
Has there been any recent changes around HANA usages which are not even relevant to this? Just would like to get upto speed on that.

Honestly, this isn't the right place for license discussions. They are customer-specific and license grants can vary from customer to customer.
But no, in general a runtime license is granted for a specific usage. You can't extend that usage by creating your own DB tables in HANA, though you could create custom tables via the app's API, like ABAP Z tables.

Are there any compelling use cases for the SAP HANA Appliance for SAP FI-AP Accounts Payable module?

  • Which programming is used in SAP HANA? confused b/w ABAp or java?

Can anyone just tell me As a programmer in which language i have to work on SAp HANA

    Hi Jagaa,
that really depends on what you'd like to do. But a brief answer:
    a) If you develop ABAP applications - use ABAP (as for other databases) and Open SQL / CDS, and if additional HANA functionality is needed maybe a bit of native SQL (ADBC or ABAP Managed DB Procedures).
    b) If you develop natively on the database please contact the experts on SAP HANA Developer Center.

  • Can i use the SAP standard package for lock object creation ?

    Dear Guru ,
I want to create a new lock ojbect for my abap program .
When i completed the creation , SAP required a new request and it said the object only can be imported to SAP standard package .
But i saw the help from SAP said :
    >* Package begins with A-S or U-X:
    >These packages are for SAP standard objects. Customer objects cannot be created in them. Changes to objects of these packages are recorded by the Transport Organizer (Request management) and can be transported (see field transport layer.
In this case ,  Can i use one of the SAP standard package for this creation ? Does it will affect the SAP system ( such as the system upgrade ) ?
    Thanks .

    Hi Carlos...
First , You will never be able to use any standard SAP Package for your custom programs. So don't go for it.
So in your case what you need to do is , when you save your Lock object ,
    - if you want Transport request to be created , then
in the screen shown you need to enter the Z package name (the same package as that of your ABAP Program)
    or
-if you want it to be stored as local object , then
    specify package as $tmp

  • HANA Live Content views column mapping to SAP tables document | SAP HANA Live for SAP ERP Finance Reports | Hana Live RDS

I am searching for HANA Live Content views column mapping to SAP tables document. Please let me know where can I find it.

    Hi Srinivas,
I guess this is the same question as the one about the SD content, so my answer is the same:
if you have access to the HANA Live RDS documentation which comes as part of the so called Step-by-Step Guide you can find a document RDS_SHL_HANA10V5_Technical_Content_Mapping_EN_XX.xls in the folder structure. To get to this file you need to drill down this path:..RDS SBS Guides\HANA Live\V5\Serv_Enabled\RDS
In that file you find all the tables used in all the RDS content.

  • SAP HANA Privileges for Frontend Tools

    Hello,
I am pretty new to HANA and having problems to access my created views from Frontend Tools like Design Studio or Lumira.
I have created several tables and on top created an Analytic View. Tables and views are in the same schema, but I assigned the view to a package. If I want to access the view via Design Studio there are no views or packages shown.
My User has the following privileges and roles:
    Roles:
    CONTENT_ADMIN
    USER
    MODELING
    MONITORING
    PUBLIC
    Object Privileges:
    _SYS_REPO
    REPOSITORY_REST (SYS)
    Analytical Privileges:
    _SYS_BI_CP_ALL
    Package Privileges:
package to which the View was assigned
If I want to Data Preview myView I get an error: inssuficient privileges.
Has anybody an Idea? Is there an tutorial for granting privileges for reporting purpose? The Admin Guide is very general and I thought by using the standrad roles are sufficient for my sceanrio.
    Help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Waldemar

So as the trace is saying did you give "Grant" option? And hence you are able to preview the data in HANA. It means:
    1) You are able to see the package from "myUser"
    2) You were able to do data preview from HANA on the analytic view
    Right?
If it is "myUser" who created the tables, then i don't think you need to grant again.
I was mentioning you to grant SYS_BI (SELECT) ,_SYS (SELECT) to "myUser"
And after all this your issue currently is "myUser" cant see the views in Design studio? Could you confirm that you are logging into Design studio using "myUser"?

  • SAP HANA Live Views for ERP

    Hi Experts,
We are planning to implement SAP HANA Live for ERP operational reporting, I saw there are 786 views delivered with this which includes -
    1) Query views
    2) Reuse Views
    3) Private Views
Query views always contains the word "Query" at the end of the view name which helps in identifying it but I am unable to distinguish between reuse and private views. Can anyone tell me how do we distinguish whether a view is a reuse view or a private view?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Regards,

    Hi Ramakrishnan
How do you get access to the 'VDM properties' Tab ?
I don't have it on my own HANA Studio.
I guess this tab is also the good one to assign a view to the proper product/ module hierarchy in the HANA Live Browzer.
Currently, all my custom view fall into the "N/A - Undefined" section, which is highly frustrating !
Is this view dedicated to SAP developpers?
Otherwise do you know how to get access to it.
    Thanks.

  • Unable to connect to SAP Hana cloud platforfm trial server

    Hi Experts,
I am going through open sap course on SAP Hana cloud platform. I need to deploy the first sample "Hello World" Application in SAP hana trial server. As per the instructions mentioned in course , I have tried to connect trial server through eclipse and facing a error which says "
Unknown SAP HANA Cloud Platform host was provided. Check whether the host is correctly spelled."
Referred blog SAP HCP openSAP course guide week 1 and tried to change the network connections using Windows-> Preference-General-Network. Used Direct/Native/Manual options and I still have the same issue.
    Screenshot for reference:
    System details: Eclipse Kepler 4.3
    Jre 1.6
    Windows 7 32 bit
Hope the detail is sufficient to analyze the issue. Please share your thoughts.
    Thanks!

Tried to make use of SAP HaNA administration console perspective in eclipse. Creation of cloud system results in new set of log errors. Not sure if this can give any clue about the rootcause of issue

  • SAP HANA Language file

    Hi Experts,
I have deployed SAP HANA Live for ECC in my system, but I am not able to import the language file LANG_HCOHBAECC.tgz.
When I try to import, as the same way I have done with the HCOHBAECC.tgz file, I receive the message "Repository: import failed;Import::import(): wrong archive type ET_LANGUAGE_TRANSPORT, you have to use importLanguage() to import this".
How can I import this file to translate the content of HANA Live?
    Best Regards,
    Renato Ely

    Hello Renato,
the way you chossed via importing DU's directly vom the HANA Studio is not the recommended way for doing that.
Please check the HANA LIVE Admin Guide for some infos.
The Recommended way which is documented there is the usage of "SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager".
This tool automaticaly takes care of Content and Language Import.
For more info please directly check within the Admin Guide, which you can find at:
Download and Deploy Content Package - SAP HANA Live for SAP Business Suite Administrator's Guide - SAP Library

  • Connectivity between SSRS and SAP HANA

    Hi all
We currently use SSRS as our main Reporting tool, the company is considering to implement SAP HANA, is it possible to connect SQL Server Reporting Services to SAP HAHA? And what if any are the draw backs?
    Thanks
    Ruan

    Hi ruancra,
According to your description, you want to connect SSRS to SAP HANA. Right?
In Reporting Services, it just works on helping us create, deploy, and manage reports. We can only connect to a data source to retrieve data. It is not supported connecting to another report tool. Also we are not sure if reports
created by SSRS (.rdl/.rdlc files)can be opened in SAP HANA. For more information about SAP HANA, please visit the SAP HANA official site:

  • HANA Live on ECC - Should ECC be on Hana DB or any other RDBMS

    Hi,
Going through some of the blogs, i need a clarification to install HANA Live.
If the ECC is on RDBMS, should the database be retired and moved to HANA DB or it can work side by side.
    Thanks
    Hari Prasad

    Hi,
HANA Live is an additional SAP HANA Delivery Unit which you can install on your HANA One server.
HANA Live has SAP delivered Views, that are based on standard SAP Tables.
So you need to replcated those Tables first then import HANA Live.
The best fit here would SAP LT for replication.
you can get more information from here

  • _Patch level in SAP HANA Note and _Build No in SAP HANA

    Hello Hana Gurus!
I need to know where can I find the patch level in the SAP HANA and SAP HANA Notes
For example, if I want to apply a note
    http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1964428
    there is specified:
    Software Component
    Support Package
    Patch Level
    SAP HANA DATABASE 1.00
    SP069
    2
    SP070
    0
Ok. I read a lot of sources and understand the following:
To know the HANA Studio version:
    Help->About SAP HANA Studio.
    It will be like
    Version: 1.0.27
    Build id: 201205021925 (361805)
Here 1.0.27 means -> 1.0 version and Revision is 27 and Build No is : 361805
Re: From Studio, how to know the  HANA DB Version
That is, if we apply 1964428 note, the system is upgraded to SP069 and SP070. Is that correct?
But what Patch Level means in this (and some other) note (value 2 and 0)?
Where I can check Patch Level in the HANA?
And, what are figures Build No indicate
    UPD:
Here Re: Where we can check Patch leveles in HANA? referred to a certain table "M_HOST_CONFIGURATION". But in my system it does not exist. or tell me where to find it?

I understand the database version and the studio version is not the same thing. But why do they match my system (see picture)? Or still the same thing?
By the way, to see the version of the database I used table SYS.M_DATABASE
A revision is released with all HANA components are part of the revision release and not just HANA DB server. So it is always ideal that you have all HANA components on same version as in your case. However is is technically feasible that you are usinga older version of Studio to connect to a newer version of HANA DB server. so Help-> About Studio would give you version of the studio and "select version from SYS.M_DATABASE" gives you version of the HANA DB server.
    2)
and for the version and patch level
1.0.69.02 would mean HANA DB is on Revision 69 , patch 02
1.0.70.00 would mean HANA DB is on Revision 70
Soultion for the problem is to update your HANA DB to revision 69, patch 2 or Revision 70.
Did I understand correctly, if the note indicated Patch Level = 0, then we simply speak about updating to Revision, implying that no Patch Level? Or how it can be understood?
I'm assuming here you wish to know if you are downloading the right software for the update.
if there is a patch mentioned it is available as "Mantainence Revision <rev no>.<patch no>" for download and if there is no patch level mentioned(patch level = 0) they is avaliable as "Revision <rev no.>". Also update procedure for both Revision and patch is the same.
    3)
Did I understand correctly, the first figure in the Build number (Build id) indicates the Patch Level? How it is possible to interpret the Build number (Build id) more? These figures represent something?
This build number is something that comes out of build repositiory. HANA version mentioned in all notes and guide refer to just the Revision number and patch level currently. You can ignore the build number

  • SAP HANA Web-based Development Workbench Privileges

I can get into and use the SAP HANA web-based development workbench as the SYSTEM user, but I cannot as other users.
    http://localhost:8005/sap/hana/xs/ide/editor/
Currently as any other user, I get the following error: "Request execution failed due to missing privileges"
What are the appropriate privileges that need to be set in SAP HANA Studio to access the web based IDE?
Currently, just messing around with the privileges in SAP HANA Studio, if I set the following application privileges, I can at least log in as another user besides SYSTEM.
However, I cannot get any of the files to display in the editor portion of the SAP HANA web-based development workbench. A possibly related error in the log console: "13:10:12 >> Error in WebSocket Connection to backend."
I found this thread discussing the same issue I believe, but the solution I would imagine is not correct: HANA XS Administration | SAP HANA
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Fernando,
Thanks for the suggestion. That seemed to work, though it is strange that it is not one of the *.xs.* application privileges. So, just to be clear, here are the application privileges I have now in order to use the web based IDE:
    Thanks,
