Use of "Secure Fields"

We noticed an interesting issue with P6.2. There is a new option, "use secure fields" in the product. When creating Project or Resource codes, there is a then a checkbox for "secure field" which can be checked or unchecked.
However, if Use Secure Fields is enabled and a user does not have the permission View Secure Fields, that user cannot select a filter based on a field EVEN IF THE CHECKBOX IS UNCHECKED.
Is this a bug, or am I misunderstanding the intent of this feature?

Project Management provides privileged users the ability to define secure resource, project, and activity codes. These codes can be used by an organization to define the approval process, etc.
This functionality allows organizations to classify certain codes so that only a user with the assigned privilege can view, edit or assign the selected code value.
Secure codes and secure code assignments can be exported to XML format, however Secure Codes, their values and assignments are not included when a project is exported from the database in XER format, nor when a project is copied.
There are four (global) security privileges to view, assign or modify Secure Codes:
Add and Delete Secure Codes
Edit Secure Codes
Assign Secure Codes
View Secure Codes

Since we are all friends, let me show my ignorance.
There are variables that con be used instead of actual values in security fields, $USER being one of them.
We use $USER as the value for field BTCUNAME for object S_BTCH_NAM, to indicate that the user ID of the person logged in, is the value to be used.
Are there any more?
If so, where can I find information about them?
This would be for an ERP system, not BI.

Use of Department field in project online

Hi All,
In project server, we have the provision to use the field Department to have some control on the data visibility to a user, right?
Is this feature available for project online in Sharepoint permission mode? Can I get some article on this?
Is there any article/document which gives details of impact/areas affected when permission mode is converted from sharepoint permission mode to project server permission for project online?
Please help.

The Departments field is NOT a security feature. It is purely a "Visbility" feature. So regardless of SharePoint Permission mode or Project Server Permission mode, you can use the Departments field, and one does not have an impact on the other.

I am looking for an app for my iPad that can be used to record field work information in a specified format, with the ability to draw diagrams if necessary, and include photos taken from the iPad.

Any suggestions for apps that could do this?
It will be used to collect field notes for daily use on a biological field study site. It would be optimal if the information could be collected in a manner that can be moved easily into excel as well. Most of the data will be qualitative descriptions, and some of it quantitative numeric (time stamps etc). We want to make it extremely easy for the user to enter information, such that we will set up a template and the technicians can fill out the individual fields in that template with minimal software knowledge required.
Hope the community can recommend a few apps to test out.

I looked at Bento and at first glance I think it would do everything I want it to do, then I saw a review or something from a customer that indicated the information in Bento could not be exported (say to send out a mailing). I may want a program that can do that as well, is there one out there? If not it does look like Bento will work. When you save a picture to a customer in Bento can you open it up full size?

Using a security group to add members to the collection question

Hi,
I have a collection created in SCCM 2007 that is using a security group for membership. So I added a computer to the security group in AD but when I go to SCCM and click on the collection I dont see the computer in the collection. Should it show here or
because it is a security group based membership will it not show the members?

Details from Active directory are added to SCCM database through discovery methods. Please ensure that AD security group discovery and AD system discovery are enabled in the primary site. If they are enabled, check the frequency set for these discovery
methods. Once you added these computers to the AD group, you need to wait till the next discovery cycle before it appears in SCCM collections. Till that point, SCCM database will not have information about the group memberships of these computers

Can You Use A Report Field Value In A Hyperlink?

I believe the conditional formula that you would use (don't just type in the text box - press the button for the formula first).

The key is toÂ use the conditional formula feature of the hyperlinkÂ feature.Â

HT1296 Comcast does not allow me to use iCloud to sync my iPhone. An apple genius gave me a special DNS server to allow syncing. That did not work at home. So I used a secure proxy server outside the US, and then was able to sync.

Comcast claims that are not blocking ports. Technically from what I understand they are not. They just don't recongnize the iCloud server address on their DNS. An Apple Genius gave me a "free access DNS" which they use in the Oakrigde store to sync to iCloud. It works great in the store with my computer and iPhone but not at home. After a comversation with an IT person in Germany he explained that due to the limited number of ports available and the almost infitinite appetite for ports companies often choose to manage the number of ports avialable for use by their customers. What did work for me was to use a secure proxy server with secure encoding. It works great! However as the cloud does seem to go down from time to time I would prefer to also have the USB cable option for syncing.

This does not make sense. If comcast blocked iCloud.com there would be millions of posts here about it, as comcast is one of the largest ISPs in the US. Most likely you have DNS settings messed up in your router or your computer. Ports and DNS have nothing to do with each other. A "port" is just part of a complete URL. Using a port does not have any affect on the ISP, who doesn't even see the port in the packet.

How to use a parameter field value as a substring in a "like" statement?

I'm trying to use a parameter field in a Record selection formula where the parameter field value would be a substring of the data stored in the field.
My parameter field (SlctResearcher) is constructed as follows:
Type: string
List of Values: static
Value Field: (Reports) RptAuthors
(in Value Options) Allow custom values?: True
{Reports.PubDate} in DateTime (2009, 04, 01, 00, 00, 00) to DateTime (2010, 03, 31, 23, 59, 59) and
{Reports.RptAuthors} like "*{?SlctResearcher}*"
When I hit F5 to generate the data, I get no results (and the parameter prompt field does not even come up...)
If I modify the formula to put a hard-coded string, like
"*Jones*"
after the 'like', I get results (all the reports where "Jones" is a substring in the RptAuthors string.) If I modify the formula to just use the parameter field without the quotes/stars like:
{Reports.PubDate} in DateTime (2009, 04, 01, 00, 00, 00) to DateTime (2010, 03, 31, 23, 59, 59) and
{Reports.RptAuthors} like {?SlctResearcher}
I do get the parameter prompt field, but still no results even if I put in a valid substring value (since it is not searching for a substring anymore...)
How can I do this?

1st thing... Make a copy of your report before doing anything!!!
To use a SQL Command, you'll want to open the Database Expert and look at the Current Connections. Expand the data source and the 1st option you see is the Add Command option.
To find the SQL That CR is currently using, choose Database from the menu bar and select Show SQL Query...
You can copy this and paste it directly into the command window. (If you you can write your own SQL you don't need copy CR's, it's just an option.)
You'll also want to take not of any parameters that you have, you'll need to add them the the Parameter List of the command as well... be sure to spell them EXACTLY as they are in the design pane.
Anyway, once the SQL statement is in the Command window you'll be able to alter the WHERE clause to use the wild cards.
For future reference... What type of database are you reporting against???

Specify the date format as YYYYMMDD in where condition.
Dates are internally stored in SAP as YYYYMMDD only.
Change your date format in WHERE condition as follows.
data itab like equk occurs 0 with header line.
select * from equk into table itab where werks = 'C001'
and bdatu = <b>'99991231'.</b>
I doubt check your data base table EQUK on this date for the existince of data.
Otherwise, just change the conidition on BDATU like below to see all entries prior to this date.

Thanks again. There's one other thing I wanted to achieve here. I need the date format to be displayed like "dd/mm/yyyy" and not like it's doing by default at the moment (i.e. mm/dd/yyyy)
I don't have any knowledge of jQuery but had a go anyway at trying to fix this using this link http://api.jqueryui.com/datepicker/ as aid to try adjust my code. Obviously I couldn't get it to work so far... So I'm looking for a little bit of help from anyone who knows a bit of jQuery.

Using a date field in a JDOQL query crashes

I am trying to use a date field in a JDOQL filter. It appears from the
log file that the date is not being substituted into the SQL.
It is not clear from the JDOQL spec how to do date queries.... doing date
queries in SQL involves several special operators, yet the
JDOQL defines the ">" and "<" operators as working on dates....and there is
no mention of date specific operators so I am hoping that I
can do a filter where I compare a date to an input parameter date using the
">" and "<" operators...
I have enclosed a copy of my driver code, followed by an except of my class
that contains the date, followed by the kodo exception log
I can't see where I am doing anything that violates the JDOQL spec and I
don't see any other way of doing date comparisions.

The problem is that you're declaring myDate as a variable instead of a
parameter. Yes, we should be doing better error checking. But that's the
problem.
So, change your declareVariables() and declareParameters() statements
accordingly, and all should work out.

ARM approval error after upgrading to SP14: Database error while using the secure store.

Dear GRC experts,
After upgrading GRC 10 to SP14, assigning manual passwords during the approval of a request, the approval process is failing.
Here is the scenario; your advice will be appreciated.
Task: Manually assign passwords to multiple systems contained in the request
Where: On the access request, go to “User System Details” tab
Issue: After approving/submitting the request, the error “Database error while using the secure store” is generated
Logs: Nothing on transactions SLG1 or ST22; however ST11 shows the error attached below:
This is the failed approval of the request:
Other scenarios executed as a workaround, and passed the password assignment this time:
The approval will work if only one password is assigned to any of the given systems. The rest of the systems get an auto-generated
password.
ARM also accepts multiple passwords when the requestor assigns passwords on the “User System Details” prior submitting a
request. The GRC admin can approve once reached for system approval.
AS FYI, “Confirm Password” is only required when creating the request but not on any other stage.

A quick clarification:
Tolerance is used when creating the index using the old quatree indexes as stated above. Oracle recommends using Rtree indexes, and one of the smaller benefits of Rtree indexes is that you don't have to recreate your indexes when you change the tolerance.
Tolerance is the distance two coordinates need to be so Oracle doesn't consider them as the same coordinate. It is used all over the place, include operators (as correctly stated above), but also geometry validation routines (no redundant coordinates allowed, also a polygon can't have an edge within tolerance of another edge or it is self-intersecting), distance (if the two geometries are within the tolerance value apart, then the distance is 0), unions, intersection, and so forth.

Can you use a text field for email sender with E-mail button

basically i would like to use input information from the user when someone sends an email instead of the default which is to look for a third party e-mail program like outlook. I want to bypass that and possibly use a text field that has the user input their email. some people don't use outlook so it would be nice to bypass that somehow. Is there a way to send email without the whole outlook thing, like not needing a "sender" and instead require them to input email address. I just want to receive the pdf. I am using LIVECYCLE by the way.

You must enable POP forwarding for the account preferences via webmail access for the account.

Using javax.security.auth.LoginContext to generate a renewable ticket

I tired to use javax.security.auth.LoginContext (with kerberos) to generate a forwardable and renewable ticket. With this ticket I authenticate the user at an other server.
My problem is, that the code generates a forwardable ticket, but not a renewable one. If I use the kinit (console tool) I am able to generate a renewable one.
Here is the JAVA-code:

If I use my client principal and password a ticket will be generated. This ticket is not renewable!!
If I use the ticket cache (kinit -r, and kinit -R), a renewable ticket was loaded. On the server side the forwarded ticket is not renewable. It seams that the client generates a new ticket with the forwarded flag, but the renewable flag is not set.
does anyone have an idea?
