BI 7 DTP Semantic Groups:
- the key of Error Stack;
- subset of the key of the target object
- defines which data should be detained from the update after the erroneous data record (for DSO objs)
- semantic groups bundle records with same sem, group key into the same request

In a number of threads - e.g. Semantic Groups in DTP it is stated that you cannot use semantic groups to aggregate data. In others, there are statements that this is only for handling the error stack.
This I find puzzling, as the SAP Help says:
+Choose Semantic Groups to specify how you want to build the data packages that are read from the source (DataSource or InfoProvider). To do this, define key fields. Data records that have the same key are combined in a single data package.
This setting is only relevant for DataStore objects with data fields that are overwritten. This setting also defines the key fields for the error stack. By defining the key for the error stack, you ensure that the data can be updated in the target in the correct order once the incorrect data records have been corrected.+
The experience of one of my clients is that you can indeed use Semantic Groups, and you do not need to define an error-DTP. ( Change the error handling on the Update tab to, e.g. "1 Valid Records Update, No Reporting" - then the key fields displayed after perssing the semantic group button become available ).
Any comments? Have I misunderstood the point that the others have been making?

Semantic group is used to define the groupiing of records by data package. If you select 0PLANT as a Semantic group, each packet of data will contain all values of 0PLANT until the Max record is reach. Example, Package Size is set to 50K. If you have 30K of 0PLANT = 0002 and 22K of 0PLANT = 0003. First packet will contain 52K records of plant 0002 & 0003. The next packet will start with plant 0004 and will contain all records with 0004. If this doesn't make 50K records then plant 0005 will be included in packet 2.

Material & plant in semantic groups of DTP

Hello
I ticked the material , plant boxes of semantic groups setup in DTP.
Does it mean that all combinations of the same material and plant will be included into one data package even it significantly exceeds 50K records?

DataLoad into Write-optimized DSO with DTP and semantic groups

hi gurus,
i'm going crazy with my current problem.
i searched in the other posts of this topic, but i did not found a solution.
here my situation:
i created a w-o-DSO with semantic key (0ucinstalla, 0calmonth, zbelnum, 0unit) and three key figures.
now i'm loading from several cubes data into the DSO. (i need the historical data)
in every transformation, i implemented an expertroutine which collects the data into the result_package.
in the routine, i even clear the record number before collecting the result_rows.
in the DTPs, i'm using a semantic group for 0ucinstalla in order to select all rows for one 0ucinstalla into one data-package.
each DTP has to run one time in full mode.
but when i schedule the third DTP, i get the message: "duplicate record"
i checked the active data in dso. there was no record with that semantic key.
i found a record with the same 0ucinstalle for a diferent month - in my opinion, thats no duplicate record...
is there a dependence between semantic key in DSO and semantic group in DTP?
how can i solve this error?

At DSO do not arrive any duplicates and i would like to use the check of uniqueness in future, if there really arrive duplicate records.

Selecting Semantic Group Key Fields for Cube to Cube DTP

Is it possible to use the semantic group key fields selection when performing a DTP between two infoCubes? When I try to select the key field of 0CALWEEK, i am unable to as the selection screen is grayed out like I'm in display mode even though I'm in change mode for the DTP.

Hi,
Have you initialized the planning area for the 11th key figure to be loaded. Make sure that the key figure which you want to load is initialized for the planning version for the respective planning area.
Also check the loading period inside the variant is within the planning area initialized period for that key figure. And make sure that you have made the key figure assignment for the info cube and planning area inside the variant.

How to enable all fields in DTP Semantic Group....

In BI, for one of my Master Bearing Infoobjects DTP-> Semantic Group is enabled for all fields. But for 2nd master bearing infoobject, only its primary keys are enabled & non-primary keys r disabled in its semantic group. Even both structure have same DTP settings and both have data.
Could u pls. let me know why is it so & how can i enable all fields in semantic group.

How do I use Panorama / Tab Groups with the keyboard?

Yes I know that CTRL-SHIFT-E opens the panorama window, and then I can use the mouse to organize my tabs into groups.
But how do I do this with the keyboard?

I will agree with you on this one. Version 31 and all the fixes so far are a mess. Since I have been here answering questions for a little more than a year now I have learned to wait to upgrade until all the dust settles. I see no end to the dust storm version 31 has caused. I am still on version 24.6 and plan on staying there for the duration. At least until the developers comes to their senses and put out a working product.

As it turns out the 'New from Template' interface Word 2013 has developed is very bulky with large thumbnails and is not very customizable nor practical for an office
that has a large number of templates. Because I am unsatisfied with the display and performance of the 'New' template chooser I sought after a solution to change the way word creates a document from a template in another thread:

Using a security group to add members to the collection question

I have a collection created in SCCM 2007 that is using a security group for membership. So I added a computer to the security group in AD but when I go to SCCM and click on the collection I dont see the computer in the collection. Should it show here or
because it is a security group based membership will it not show the members?

Details from Active directory are added to SCCM database through discovery methods. Please ensure that AD security group discovery and AD system discovery are enabled in the primary site. If they are enabled, check the frequency set for these discovery
methods. Once you added these computers to the AD group, you need to wait till the next discovery cycle before it appears in SCCM collections. Till that point, SCCM database will not have information about the group memberships of these computers

Executing a Job via Web Services using a Server Group?

When executing a job from Designer or from the Management Console you have the option to select a specific job server or a server group.
But when executing a job via Web Services it uses the first job server with which the repository was associated (i.e. the first job server listed in AL_MACHINE_INFO).
Is there a way to get the job to execute using a server group instead simply choosing the first job server in the list?
Note: We are using FIM to execute the jobs via web services and don't have access to additional parameters.

Here is the where you can change the server group/job server.
- After you add the Batch/real Time job as a webservice.
- Go to the Webservice Batch Job Attribute and from the drop down choose the "Enable job Attributes" and hit apply.
- After this if you use the WSDL URL http://<Data Services Web Server>:<Web server Port>/DataServices/servlet/webservices?ver=2.0&wsdlxml
- You will see the job attributes that you can change based on the allowed parameters mentioned in the documentation.
The batch job or real time job is published without the job parameters by default. Once you enable the job attributes, remove and re publish the batch job as a web service. The application making the call to this webservice should be able to read the WSDL generated by Data services and pickup all the input and output parameters of the method.
Refer to the Data Services Integrator guide (Chapter 3 : pages 25 - 33 ) to get the exact parameter values permitted via Data Services jobs called via web services.

Contacts: Specify which email address to use in Contact Group?

I have a few mailing lists that I keep in Contacts. However, I have multiple email addresses for some of these contacts. When I send an email to the list, the wrong email address will be used for some of the contacts. Is it possible to specify a default email address for a contact? Or a way to specify which email address of a contact should be used for each Contact group?

Yes.
So select the group in Contacts. Then choose Edit->Edit Distribution List... and you can pick which of the emails you want to use for the group in question.
It took me a while to find it, but I've done it before so I managed to turn it up

How to make use of the 'Groups' in Screen Layout?

I have a screen with 10 input fields (F1, F2, .. F10).
I set the 'Groups' attribute in the screen layout to 'DIS'.
How could I make use of this 'Groups' attribute so that when I loop the screen, I will only disable fields with the 'Groups' attribute set to 'DIS'? Thanks
I tried the following codes, but it's not working:

It says ==> The data object 'SCREEN' does not have a component called 'GROUPS'.

In the Attributes of a screen field, there is an attribute called "Groups". This has 4 options for input (4 text boxes)
SCREEN has 4 fields GROUP1, GROUP2, GROUP3 and GROUP4.
The first text box under Groups attribute corresponds to SCREEN-GROUP1,
2nd text box for SCREEN-GROUP2
3rd text box for SCREEN-GROUP3
4th text box for SCREEN-GROUP4

Credit management automatic credit control use of credit group

Hello gurus
1)In the credit management we have credit groups( which enables us to combine different sales
document types for the purposes of credit management).
In the simple credit check also we will assign the doc types to check the credit. Then please tell me why we need credit groups in automatic credit control? Here also we can assign the doc types to check the credit ?then what exactly is the use of credit group ?
2)where will we specify the total credit amount allowed of the credit control area?
3)In the automatic credit control (ova8) against to static check box option we have open orders and open delivers checkboxes. is this two boxes only specific to static or it also belongs to dyanic?
Is it necessary to check this boxes?
4)is any one have used any of the routines in automatic credit control( document controlling tab we have no credit check field here we specify the routine? If any business need please share with me

For your 1st query , In credit mgmt we assign credit grps to sales document type. So as you said we will assign credit grps at simple credit check and coming to the Automatic credit check we assign credit grp for the sales document type also .But the difference is credit grp can be at order level or Delivery Level or PGI level in OVA8 in Automatic credit check .
Coming to your 2nd Query , we will specify the total credit limit in FD32.
For your 3rd query , In OVA8 apart from the static check we check the boxes open orders and open deliveries also because once you activate Automatic credit check and once you maintain credit limit for any customer then system will check the open orders and open deliveries also of that customer
Coming to your last query the routine feild can be used when some requirements have to be fulfilled then only automatic credit check should work for customers. or else the sales order ->delivery->PGI will happen normally

Transport groups is basically where all R/3 systems that access a common transport directory.
It's something like that you want to move a transport request from DEV to 5 clients in QAS where your transport groups help.
