Use of space as a character in Serial Numbers assignment during MIGO.

Hi Gurus,
Can any one suggest me if it is possible to have space as a character in the serial numbers?
My client has a space or two in the old serial numbers and they do not want to change the way the serial numbers are numbered in the SAP system.
Please advice if there is any way to do this.
Thanks in advance.

  • Serial numbers assigned to booked stock but irrelevant at goods issue point

    Can anyone help me get a better understanding of material serial numbers?
    I am exploring this area  using SAP standard configuration:
    i)     I have created a material that that has assigned to it serial number profile 0001 which includes:
    a.     SDAU     Serial numbers in SD order 01 (No)
    b.     SDCC     Completeness check for delivery 03 (Mandatory)
    c.     SDLS     Maintain delivery 02 (Optional)
    ii)     I have used MIGO to place 2 items in stock (GR 561 u2013 initial stock balance) and as expected the serial number tab opened up and I assigned 2 unique serial numbers to each of my pieces of stock: Serial_Test_1 & Serial_Test_2
    iii)     I then created a sales order (OR) for one item and again as expected, the item was scheduled for immediate delivery from stock without reference to the relevant serial number
    iv)     The problem was that I then managed to create a delivery and pick it without being prompted for a serial number (mandatory completeness check?)
    v)     I then went back into the delivery and assigned a serial number via Item u2013 Serial Numbers but it let me input and serial number that wasnu2019t associated with any item I had in stock (e.g.  Serial_Test_3) which I then PGIu2019d!
    vi)     Going back to my stock overview, I now only had 1 item (good) but both serial numbers were present (bad .. I think)?
    Am I missing something here? Is there a prerequisite action I must take to get the system to insist on a particular stock item to be specified before it can be issued and that the stock overview will only show serial numbers for items that are in stock? My system at present appears corrupt to me as I only have one item in stock but 2 serial number?
    Any help or insight much appreciated.

    Hi,
    You posted qty 2 with serial number's
    Now you have stock of 2 qty with serial number
    when you do delivery, you have to assign serial number which is already in stock.then it will show status properly
    Remain qty 1 and 1 serail number.

  • Serial number assignment during confirmation

    Hi,
    Can someone help me with this one please...
    In ECC6 I have configured serial number profiles and production confirmations to create the as built list during confirmation. This all works perfectly. when I assign my serialised components to my serialsed asssemblies in CO11n, hit the transfer button and save the confirmation, the installed basae is created in the background... everything works perfectly.... right ...
    I am now trying to do this in a 4.6c system and it's not working as expected. when I hit the transfer button and save my confirmation, the installed base is not created in the background.
    does anyone know the subtle differences between ECC6 and 4.6c and can explain what I need to do to get the 4.6c system to work the same as the ECC6 system?
    thanks... Neil.

    as far as i know there is no difference...
    looking at 4.6c make sure you have the following things:
    -in the material master record (Storage area) of the material to be produced, a serial number profile must be assigned;
    -the serial number profile must permit the creation of serial numbers for the serialization activity Create production order (PPAU)
    good luck

  • Two serial numbers assigned to one Handling Unit???

    Hi All,
    I've a handling Unit HU 1000XXXXXX - correct in SAP with XYZ material with a serial number. But also another unit ABC has a different serial number  also in some way tied to Handling unit 1000XXXXXX. This is an MTO for a sales order. Not able to understand how the other serial number is also assigned to the same HU.
    Please suggest me to identify the root cause behind this.

  • Manual Inspection Lot creation using Serial Numbers

    Hi,
    My requirement is to create inspection Lot for Serialized material manually.There is no trigger like Goods Receipt or Issue. I want to assign Serial number for the inspection lot to record the results. When I check the transaction QA01, I can only create it at Material level. Is there any standard way I can achieve this requirement?
    I assigned the Serialized Profile and checked the check box " Serial Number Management Possible" in QM view of material master. Thanks.

    Hi Tim,
    There is a better way of capturing the Serial Numbers for each result recording by using the Inspection Point in the Inspection Plan.
    You may create New Inspection Point in the configuration for the Serial Numbers assignment.
    I hope that this will meet your requirement.

  • Serial Numbers in A Storage Bin

    Dear all,
    In warehouse management we have serial numbers attached to each item in the warehouse and these items are batch managed. During goods receipt serial numbers are scanned using RF scanner and a transfer order is created for each item. We have a customer table to store the details like storage location and storage bin etc when they are first scanned in. There is no problem here.
    If items are transferred from one storage bin to another using a transfer order, system is picking the serial numbers required for the transfer order posting. When corresposing material document is displayed using MB51, there is a tab for serial numbers that are included in this material document.
    Is there any way to get all the serial numbers of the items stored at Storage Bin level?
    Thanks and regards
    Raj

    Hi Christian,
    Thanks for the reply.
    In the mean time I was talking some more people here regarding this problem. Looks like there is no one obvious place where equipment serial numbers are stored.
    Further digging in to SAP I could make out that the serial numbers get distributed to tables SER01 to SER07 based on the activity performed with key in OBJK. I think I will be able to get there.
    I appreciate your time and reply.

  • Serial Numbers in WM Storage Units

    Hi all:
    My client needs to manage serial numbers in WM. I am planning to propose to use the storage unit as storage for serial numbers. This WM will not have HUM, no batch management. Plant will use valution type.
    Can anyone tell me what are the pros and cons for storing serial numbers in Storage Units in a non HUM WM?
    We are implanting WM in SAP ECC 6.0
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Juan
    Are you talking about managing serial numbers with storage unit management? When we use serial number management every material within the storage unit number will have a serial number. For ex:- if a storage unit number has 10 pcs in it then system would generate 10 serial numbers. You will need a BADI 'LE_WM_INV_WM_IM' and add data serial number in the class to control serial number function in WM. Check OSS 559531 for more info.

  • Group By reports with Serial Numbers

    hi,
    i am creating group by reports with serial numbers. i use the
    following code to generate the serial numbers using a formula
    column:
    function SNOFormula return Number is
    SNO NUMBER(5);
    begin
    SNO := :SNO + 1;
    RETURN(SNO);
    end;
    I am able to acheive the required output with the above code in
    the case of Normal Tablular reports. But in the case of Group by
    reports, the output goes as follows:
    for example:
    sno,groupno,empno
    1,g1,e1
    e2
    e3
    4,g2,e5
    e6
    Any way out?. pls help.
    Regards,
    Prabhu S

    create a summary column in the group . set the function to
    count. set the source to the group name. set the reset at value
    as report. create a field in the lay our editor left of the
    group field. set the source as the summary column. you will see
    the numbering.
    Ex :
    Query : Select * From Emp;
    Group Field : Deptno
    Summary Field : CS_Count
    Properties of Cs_Count - Function => Count
    Source => DEPTNO
    Reset At => Report
    Now create a field in the lay out editor left side of deptno
    field lets say "SEQ", set the source to Cs_Count.
    It will disply the serial number of the groups.

  • Update Serial Numbers to Production Order

    Hi,
    Has anyone used any Function module for updating the Serial Numbers to the Production Order Header. I am using the FM - SERNR_ADD_TO_PP . The Serial Numbers needs to be assigned when doing Goods Issue in MIGO. At this point The FM is updating the Serial Numbers to Order but it is putting it in Status PMP1.
    Once the Status is PMP1 it prevents anymore Serial Number update to the same production order using the same Function module. This is preventing us from doing partial Goods Issue in MIGO.
    Is there any more Function Module that can be used to updating the Serial Nos in the Production Order.

  • Update serial numbers in delivery

    Hi Experts,
    I need to update serial numbers in delivery,
    I am using function modules SERNR_ADD_TO_LS and SERIAL_LISTE_POST_LS for it.
    Its updating the serial numbers in tables SER01 and OBJK properly.
    but I am not able to see those serial numbers from tcode VL03N,
    though when in try to update the serial numbers using tcode VL02N , i can see the serial numbers updated through above function modules.
    i debugged the code and these FMs doesn't update the field ANZSN(number of serial numbers) in table LIKP.
    could you please suggest how can i update this field in this scenario. I don't want to use update/modify commands on SAP standard table(LIKP) directly .
    Thanks

    Hi,
    did you find a solution for this? I'm facing the same issue. Before I use a BDC I would like to try the FM first.
    thanks!

  • I bought Logic Studio from a pawn shop with Pro Tools and an iLok. It didn't include the serial numbers, which I thought were on the iLok. Is their any way to us this as an upgrade from like eBay?

    Can I buy a used version of Pro Tools with the serial numbers from eBay, then istall Pro Tools and Logic I bought from a pawn shop using them as an upgrade?

    If it sounds fishy, it probably is. Serial numbers from eBay typically don't work, because they are stolen, reused, etc. Logic Pro has nothing to do with iLok. And Apples doesn't offer cross-grades or upgrades anymore. If you want their software you go to the Mac App Store application and buy it. That's the only way.

    Hello
    You would like to import items with batches or items with serials?
    This code is importing items with serials.

  • Serial numbers in Goods issue

    Hi All,
    We have an existing Warehouse management process where the Goods issue is first posted. This creates a transfer order. The IDOC created by the transfer order tells the external system to Pick a material.
    Now we are trying to introduce serial numbers to certain materials. The problem we are facing is that, it is not until the material gets picked up at the warehouse that we know what the serial number is.
    So, is there a way to create a Goods issue first, then once the material gets picked up, update the goods issue ( or the serial number history ) with the serial number that actually gets picked up.
    Thankyou for your suggestions!
    - Sekhar

    I am thinking you can update the serial numbers even after goods issue, try VL02N and check if the system allows.  If it does allow use the following FM to update the serial numbers:
    Ensure you sort the serials by position otherwise the update might not work.
    fails to update properly
        SORT lt_serials BY rfpos.
      Update delivery table with serials
        CALL FUNCTION 'WS_DELIVERY_UPDATE'
          EXPORTING
            vbkok_wa              = lwa_vbkok
            delivery              = i_vbeln
            commit                = 'X'
            it_sernr_update       = lt_serials
          IMPORTING
            ef_error_sernr_update = l_sernr_update

    After executing this FM, I get a screen which unfortunately i cant paste it here. This screen is same as the screen that appears in MIGO while creating serial numbers. To give you idea about the screen, it has following fields - Division, Device category, Serial Number,
                                        manufacturer, Model number, Construct year,
                                        Cert Year, Cert No.  and many more.
    As this screen appears, I tried to enter the relevant fields but the control does not move to next screen.Every time info message is displayed as "Function code cannot be selected.
    Can anyone please help? Or can anyone suggest a FM to create serial numbers in the system through
    program?

    hI,
    Here is the simple way can you try this,,
    Execute the transaction SNRO and define the number ranges,, call this in your program using f.m. get_number_next and pass the object if as '1' and object name as what you have used while creating number ranges. it will gives u the serial number.....
