Use of special version

Hello guys!
I am currently working on the following business scenario:
My client wants to use SEM BCS to prepare consolidation following 2 different accounting principles (lets say P1 and P2).
These 2 principles have common treatments: conversions, eliminations and aggregations.
Once the operations described above will be done I will need to:
- Apply dedicated aggregations, allocations and reclassifications and postings for P1 every quarter,
- Apply the same logic with the rules of P2 every year.
The final purpose of this is to report consolidated financial data for either (common operations + P1) or (common operations + P2)
Based on this scenario I plan to create 1 version 100 for the common treatments, then copy these data to version 110 dedicated to P1 and version 120 dedicated to P2.
After the copy I imagine that I will be able to customize the following dedicated treatments for each version
I imagine that a single Consolidation area and consolidation hierarchy will be sufficient and that the data copy will enable me to base my report either on version 110 or 120.
Conceptually, do you think that my solution is acceptable? Based on your experience do you think that I will not be technically blocked, would you apply the same data modelling?

Pay attention that there are some restrictions in using this method.
2. Don't have the system on hand. What is data type 00?
PS. You may use Copy method from both, monitor and workbench.

Don't know about a 'simple data transfer via USB drive'........
Have to make sure 3rd party software (like MS Office 2008 and CleanMyMac 2, etc) make the trip over to the new Macbook Air. Also, my current MacBook Pro does not have USB 3 and that would make a connect slow, very slow. Best bet I think is a Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt connect.
Sadly, this is turning out to be 'like two ships passing in the night' in that OSX 10.8.5 is due out 'soon, very soon' and it reportedly will include drivers, etc that make this issue moot. However, as they say, 'it's my money and I want it now!' , so I won't wait and will settle for 4/5 of the loaf.

How to allow use of special characters in a particular version/Hierarchy

How do I allow use of special character in nodename description in a particular hierarchy.
If I enable InvNameSystem Preference it allows me for all hierarchies and versions,but I want to restrict it for particular version and hierarchy.

How to use the special character pallet in Maverics with Illustrator

How to use the special character pallet in Mavericks with Illustrator - I follow the help instructions, but the pasted in object looks like a rectangle with an X, I have done this before, in earlier versions of AI, but cannot make it work in CS6.
In fact, I can open an old AI file (CS4), copy the character (a graphic symbol, also taken from the special character set), paste it in, and it works, but can't do this with a new one, from the drop down, Show Character Viewer, in the Mavericks menu bar.

The box with an X indicates the font you are using does not have the glyph you are trying to paste. Try a different font.

BCS: Document type in special versions

Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to have the same Document Type act in different ways for different versions.
I've been trying to configure Document Type special versions in SEM-BCS but neither the one under "Attributes" nor "Manual Posting - Document Type" have no effect once I assign different special versions.
How are they configured and what effects do they have on the tasks?

I did assign SVs to version combinations. I've been using SVs for other purposes and they've worked fine so far.
What I want to achieve is to be able to use the same document type (i.e. with the same number) in different versions but being able to change, for example, its clearing items from version to version. What is actually ocurring is that by assigning special versions under "Attributes" I can only vary the number range from version to version.
Is this possible?

"Special" version of Velocity required by Flex SDK?

The Flex compiler (mxmlc) appears to have a dependency to a customized version of Velocity (more on this below). Is this correct? If so:
1) What changes were made to Velocity source code?
2) Does Adobe intend to release them?
The reason I believe that the Velocity classes may have been modified for Flex is because the compiler source code includes a class called flex2.compiler.util.VelocityManager, which has an external dependency to flex.util.SerializedTemplateFactory, which is currently available only in compiled form inside the mm-velocity-1.4.jar.
I thought it was curious that (1) SerializeTemplateFactory was put inside the velocity .jar, and (2) that the .jar contains the following String: "Make sure you are using the special velocity in flex/sdk/lib."

Many plugin vendors haven't updated their plugins to work with x64, or you have to download a special x64 version (Flash and Java for example). Which plugins is it that you are having problems with?

Special Version: Copy of content possible?

In our BCS project we need to copy the content of a special version (hierarchy structure of consolidation units). Is it possible?
It seems, when copying the special version in the workbench (definition) it only copies the version but not the content.

How is Acrobat 8 not fully Windows 7 compatible? I see discussions on this Adobe Community saying how Acrobat 8 does work on Windows 7 and with 64-bit. It appears that if Acrobat 8 is updated to the latest version, then this should fix AA8-Win7 issues. And I am at the latest AA8 version, 8.3.1.
And how are Acrobat 8 and Reader XI are not compatible? I have always had Acrobat and Reader installed on the same PC, without ever having any issues. And Adobe allows the installation of one after the other. So apparently Adobe allows them both to exist together. If they are incompatible, then why would Adobe allow them to exist together?
Anyway, I did uninstall the FileOpen Plug-in and the Reader XI, then reinstalled the FileOpen Plug-in. So now Reader is not installed and only Acrobat 8 is installed. I then tried to load the PDF file, but I still get the Acrobat 8 error described above.

Have in mind that Xandros is not certified. However, the biggest problem if the distribution is a newer on is about OpenMotif libraries as Developer 6i installation requires version 2.1.30 to install successfully.

Using the trial version in a cluster

          I'd like to know if it's possible to use the trial version of WLS 6.1 in a cluster.
          I can read in the license that there's a license specification for the cluster but
          on the site docs I can read "To use WebLogic Server in a clustered configuration,
          you must have a special cluster license. Contact your BEA representative for information
          on obtaining a cluster license."
          Can anybody shed some light on it?

if you are using 6.1 sp2 Eval (downloaded from website) version...then you
          can set up cluster config.

Error while saving a workflow via sharepoint designer: Server-side activities have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities.

While saving a workflow using SharePoint designer on a SharePoint site, I get the following error:
Server-side activities have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities.
Steps to recreate error:
Login to the WFE server hosting IIS and workflow manager, open SharePoint Designer 2013 and login to a SharePoint site.
Access the list using SharePoint Designer 2013, in the workflow section, click new workflow.
In the new workflow dialog, enter workflow details, click save (see screenshot below).
Error message is displayed as below:
After restarting SharePoint Designer, the saved workflow is not seen in the site/workflows or list/workflow section.
Workaround
When the above steps are repeated while accessing the site via SPD from any other box besides the WFE/Workflow manager host server, the error is not encountered and its possible to save/publish workflows.
Notes
Workflow Manager 1.0 is installed.
The site has been registered with Workflow manager using Register-SPWorkflowService
cmdlet.

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

All Photoshop versions through CS6 came with platform-specific licenses, either Windows or PC. You could get a cross-grade of platform swap at a nominal cost but not for older versions, only for whatever Photoshop versions was current at the time.
CS3 is totally out of the upgrade or cross-grade loop. You'd have to buy a new license for CS6 Mac or subscribe to Photoshop CC, as Trevor points out.
Curt Y is correct in that CS2 will not run on current Mac-Intel machines. You would need a used Mac G5 or G4 with a PowerPC (IBM) CPU, which have been obsolete since mid 2006.
Of course, you could run your Windows on your Mac if you installed and ran BootCamp or Parallells.
