Use of the 'Back' link in Catalog/Portal - Useful info for Catalog Admins

Some info for anyone out there who may have noticed the small 'issue' with catalog items being duplicated when exiting a catalog using the Portal 'Back' link rather than the 'Return to Application/SRM' link.
A problem has been identified there where portal navigation causes duplication of catalog data even where no item is selected in the catalog.
The process might be:
1. User accesses a catalog (any, SAP or External) and selects/adds to cart an item.
2. User selects the 'Add Item' button in the 2nd step of the SC GAF, returning to the same catalog.
3. User clicks on the Portal 'Back' link and is returned to the 2nd step of the Shopping Cart Guided Application Framework
4. The initial shopped item is duplicated in the shopping cart even though no items were selected by the user.
To ensure that this does not happen SAP have created note [1445078|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1445078] which provides the means to remove the 'Back' link thus negating the possibility of this issue occuring in the case of any catalog access.
Please follow the steps provided in the note to modify the Portal Content and remove the back link entirely.

The catalog no longer opens in a new window from SRM 7.0 as we now use Portal as UI or NWBC, in order to maintain session reliability the catalog frame is launched from within the Shopping Cart Guided Application Framework, this SC 'session' is then placed in ACTION SUSPEND, until the return from catalog is generated where the session is triggered to reopen with a RESUME command.
If you wish to remove the portal navigation 'back' link, I believe you already have a note for doing so, if this has not worked, re-trace all the steps in case something was missed. It should work. By adding the bypassinb/outb_handler parameters into the call structure you should then have available the Return to SRM link instead in the catalog.
You are also correct, use of teh integrated call structure in SPRO is no longer recommended, it is relevant for older UI technology like ITS.

I have received the following query from a Customer :
"The use of the 'breadcrumb' as opposed to the browser 'Back' button. Having used DBI myself, the temptation to use the Back button instead of the breadcrumb is hard to resist! What happens if Back button or the breadcrumbs are used inconsistently? What will the impact be to the displayed data etc?"
I've tried to find an "official" answer to their question, but, despite searching the latest DBI User Guide (and the associated supplement) for the phrases "Back button" and "breadcrumb", I can find no official mention of the issue. I recollect (vaguely) hearing that the application can "lose context" if the Back button is used indiscriminately. Is there an "official ruling" on whether we advise our Customers to avoid using the Back button ?

Not sure of the offical stance on this. Once, I found data mismatch issue while using the browser back button in DBI. Suggest them to use the Breadcrumbs for navigation than the back button. Thanks.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Exactly the same problem with me.
Some other threads advice to remove fonts, clean the caches, remove add ins but nothing works consistenty, for some it looks like it works, for me it failed.
What I did not try yet, was to move the Render files out of the malicious library to trash.

JSF seems not to support the use of the back buttons and html frames.

I�m having the following problem. I have a JSP which contains a button that register a listener. Here is part of the code:

This action listener only forwards the request to other simple JSP.
The problem appears in the following situation:
1 � I click in the button that generates the event that will be processed by helloDuke.CommnadAction listener.
2 � It forward to a second JSP page.
3 � This second page is rendered to the user properly.
4 � The user clicks in the browser�s back button to return to previous page.
Then if is the user clicks in first page button, the CommandAction listener was removed. You must click again in the button to forward to the correct page.
The same happened if you are using html frames. If you have a frame with 2 pages and both pages register action listeners.
The last loaded page cleans the actions listener of the other.
Does anybody have any solution?.
It seems JSF doesn�t support the use of frames and I think that in some situation the frames are the solution to several problems.

Using the saveStateInClient=true produces a faulty output when using the command_button and an action_listener. The page that is rendered is totally useless: the button won't work, and due to the faulty rendering there's an output like: >com.sun.faces.saveStateMarker
So, why is it, that pressing the button (not using the saveStateInClient option) will only work the second time, same thing pressing the backbutton. Pressing the reload button will toggle between two pages - the one before the session id is assigned and the one that it's supposed to show.

After my update to version 4, the back button now only seems to store the last page I was on rather than the last 10 like it used to before the update. I've scoured the options menu to no avail. How can I get the back button working like it used to?

The back button used to work many times before it would reach the end of its list of pages I had been to recently and became greyed out, but now it will only work once before this happens. Also, the list of pages that pops up when I right click it now only has two entries no matter how many pages I've visited on that tab, the page I am currently on and the page I most recently left. Previous to the installation of the update to version 4 however, the list that appeared when I right clicked on the back button contained up to 10 items.

Try the Firefox SafeMode.

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

How do you use forward and back button on mouse and use "zoom" in web browser.

Ok so apparently this forum is ruled with an iron fist or something my very honest and truthful problems with these issues seem to have been instantly deleted in my last discussion?
I'll try this once more.
1) How do you use the forward and back button on a mouse without having to buy a product like Steer Mouse? There must be a way to do this without having to buy a program given it's such a useful feature that 99% of users need. I don't want to spend hours researching something that should already work. Any advice?
2) How do you zoom in for web browsers like Chrome without it globally zooming in everything on the monitor (even background applications). I don't want to zoom in background applications. I want to be able to zoom in the web browser and still maintain all the features like the side bar, not just a little magnifying glass type thing.
I'm currently zooming in with the CTRL-Middle Mouse button, but I can't find a way to use this feature so it's useful to browse the web it seems to not scale the browser correctly but rather is a global zoom. Any solution for this?

I cannot get the followed links colors to work in 24 for some reason.

I have just downloaded to v24, and now I cannot get the colors to work for the followed links on a web page. I have checked the settings on my other computers running windows 7, but those settings will not
work on my laptop running windows 8. In my previous firefox version it worked fine, but fails in v24. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you setting the link colours from inside the Firefox options?
Some website have their own link colours programmed and will override your specifications.

Why does Firefox 5 open links in a new tab or new window rather than within the same tab? Previous versions opened links in the same tab allowing use of the "back" button on the mouse. Having to close so many tabs and windows is really irritating.

I have lost my most important iphoto library. I have several different photo libraries that use and the one that I have been using for this entire year disappeared when I switched back to look at photos from an old library, please help, thank you.

I have also tried searching for them in finder and going through the trash, i have had no luck yet and confused on where they might be.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see in the iPhoto window when iPhoto opens?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library normally located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
how much free space on your boot drive?
If you launch iPhoto with the Option key held down you'll get a window with all libraries that iPhoto an find. What do you see in that window?
If you select a library in the window it's location will be shown directly beneath that window.

Is there any way to find SHMMAX used by the system? sysdef is not useful.

Since the SHMMAX is obsolete we could not set it.
Also we are not able to find a way to current value that is used by system for SHMMAX(sysdef is not giving any value).
Is there any other way to find out it's current value?
