Use of the same email database from different macs (Mac Mail)

I want to use the same database of Mac Mail (and the settings of it aswell), which should be situated on the external drive, in two different MacBooks.
So I can connect my HDD to one of the Macs, run the Mac Mail and work with the same emails, which are stored locally on this connected HDD. I use pop3/smtp for several different emails and got tons of business email since 2000 and now have to use The Bat Portable on Win, running through Parallels.
If anyone got the solution, I'd appreciate, cause I want to make the use of Parallels less as I can.
P.S. The one Macbook of mine runs Lion, another - Mavericks, so the Mail clients have different versions
Thanks!

The one Macbook of mine runs Lion, another - Mavericks, so the Mail clients have different versions
That might cause problems as the User Library for Mail might have changed.

  • Sharing the same iTunes library from different Macs/Pcs to Time Capsule

    Hello everybody,
I have just bought a new Time Capsule (2TB) internal storage and an external 2TB Western Digital that i have also connected to the time capsule just fine.
The Time capsule is supplying internet to a ps3, apple tv, sony bluray player and a satelite reciever (equivalent to Sky in UK). It is actually setup on the second floor and is acting as a extension for the main network and is working perfectly.
Now I have about 5 Pcs at home with different users and 2 mac laptops (Kids wife etc.. so different users).
My ultimate goal is to setup one itunes library on all the laptops that are present on the TC.
What I did was I copied the Itunes folder (my main precious itunes library) and pasted it on the TC hard drive.
Then i tried opening it from an itunes of one of the laptops (a macbook), I opened itunes while holding options button and choose the library to the wirelessly shared itunes file and it showed up perfectly like the exact itunes with everything in it including play counts etc..
but when i want to open a song it doesnt find it and i have to pinpoint location in order to play the song.
Its just not possible to do that to every single song as my library is about 120 gigs of music. It would take years to do tht for every song.
When i usually find one folder itunes asks to find all of them automatically and when i press yes itunes stops working.
PS. Im trying this on one laptop now as a trial in order to see how this works. The main library is backed up and all safe n sound. Also i would like to say i changed the itunes library folder to the time capsule on preferences of itunes.
Is there anyway anyone could help me? Any different methods to do it? Please we can discuss whatever ideas ud like to include.
    Thank you

  • Could we have the same email address setup in Mac mail as POP and Exchange (only one Mac mail)?

Is it possible to have one mail account setup in two different ways (as POP and Exchange) in one Mail App in one device?

Some misguided email operators allow only one connection to an account at a time. (I had one like this myself, and to add insult to injury, when you disconnected, you weren't logged off from the server for up to 15 minutes later, so you couldn't just switch to another computer immediately.)
Who provides your email service? If you don't know how to answer this question, try '''Help|Troubleshooting Information''', clear "Include account names", click "Copy text to clipboard" and paste (right-click|paste, or ctrl+v) into your reply here.

Must be a POP account then?
No idea where the setting might be on an iPad, but see if it's similar to the Mac...
Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Advanced tab, it has a box for Remove from Server once downloaded.

  • HT204053 How do I use the same email for two different apple IDs?

I have inadvertently created two different Apple IDs throughout the years but now need my most recent one to use my email, but still want access to my old apple ID (if I can find it). The old apple ID has priority (the new one is not allowed to verify my email as it is linked to my old ID) with that email - can someone help me have the two IDs linked to the same email?
    Thank you

AFAIK this is Not Possible. Each ID requires a Unique address

  • Can 2 users have the same email login with different passwords for seperate itunes accounts

My daughter is currently using the home email address for her account and i have just purchased an ipad. I would like a seperate account. Is it possible to use the same email address as the login and have two accounts.
    Thanks
Tracey (a mum who is trying to catch up with technology)

It is possible to have two different Apple ID accounts and have a common contact email address, if that is what you are asking. The potential problem is that the Apple ID is in the form of an email address so it can cause some confusion. It would probably be best to actually own the email addresses that match the account IDs.

  • TS2755 I am getting a red flag when I enter an email address for a text message from my iPad.  The same email works from my iPhone.

I am getting a red flag on any email I enter when trying to submit a message.  The same email address works on my iPhone.

The iPad is not capable of sending an SMS message so texts, pictures, etc., must go through iMessage.  The destination device must be registered with the Apple servers by turning on iMessage.  Therefore, the user with the iPhone must enable it for iMessage.

  • Missing files using the same library on two different macs and other minor problems

    Hi everybody,
I'm working on a long documentary and I'm new to FCPX (coming from Avid NC and Edius)...I have and external HD where I stored all the media I'm working with (about 1/2T - 1000 clips)...The library (about 100gb) is stored on the internal drive of my iMac and into the iCloud.
Yesterday, I received my new MacBook and today I tried to work on it. I followed this steps: I downloaded from iCloud the same library I was working with, I put it on the same folder (movies) it was stored on my iMac and I connected my external HD with all the media...Results? All the clips where gone and the red missing file warning was all over the place.
FIRST QUESTION: How can I work on both computer overcoming this missing files problem? I know I should have put the library on the same external drive but It was a move aiming to
    SUB QUESTION 1:
I went back to my iMac and everything worked fine except for a warning about one of my events (the exclamation point) as you can see from this pic:
I tried to relink the file...but no files to be linked popped up in the relink file window....HOW CAN I KNOW what's wrong in that event in order to fix it?
    SUB QUESTION 2:
I checked the Library info and - as you can see in the pic below - there are 43mb of media in my internal HD...is this maybe the problem preventing me from working on different macs? I tried to consolidate everything to the external HD but still the 43mb thing persist in being on the internal HD. How can I find where exactly it is located? How can I move it to the external HD given that the consolidate option isn't working?
Thank you in advance for your help
    Nico

    1) Don't know why this is happening. It may have something to do with
I downloaded from iCloud the same library I was working with
I'm not clear what procedure you're using here. Using a cloud for storage might change some file tags. Generally users I think keep the library on the same drive as the media, keeping the library backups on the system. There is no real benefit in keeping the media in a separate location. Often users will keep the library in the same folder as the media. It makes backing up using tools like Carbon Copy Cloner very efficient.
1a) This can be difficult to find as there sometimes is no obvious indicator. It might be a missing element in a compound clip, a missing or altered layer in a graphics file, a missing font, a missing effect. These will show up inside the item involved, but may not be apparent in the browser. A missing transition for instance will not be seen until you skim over the project or try to export it.
    2) The 43 MB is a small amount of optimized media. This never prevents relinking. The library is always looking for original media, or proxy media if you're in proxy playback. It never looks for optimized media. If it has it, it uses it, if it doesn't, it uses the original media. If you are using original/optimized playback, you must have the original files. The optimized files are not enough.

  • Can I unstall Office 2011 from a Macbook and re-install the same software on a different Mac/Mackbook?

    Hi all,
I’ve looked around Google and here and I can’t find a definitive answer to my question so hopefully you guys can give me some advice
I bought the Office package in 2011 when it was new and installed it on my Macbook. I now plan to buy an iMac for the purpose of studying so I'd like to remove it from my Macbook and transfer it to the new Mac. My Macbook is running on the current highest software (the name escapes me at present, I'm not on it to check) and I assume the Mac will be too. If I were to uninstall everything, would I be able to use the same disc (i.e. same unique code) on the other computer? I believe I only have the 1 disc 1 Mac version so can't have two running with the same software.
Ideally I'd not like to buy another Office package so any advice would be much appreciated. I realise I may not have much choice though...!
    Many thanks for your assistance.
    Kind Regards,

New Mac's come with OS X 10.8 so you would have to check compatibility of your software with the new OS X versions.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Next you will have to check if the software will install or not on 10.8 from the disk, since the disk is static it can't change for newer OS X versions, however the software itself might run fine if a more recently updated version is downloaded  and installed, then the license key entered.
Far as licensing concerns, you will have to check with the developer how to go about deauthorizing, uninstalling and getting a new license key for the new machine or if you can continue to use the existing one.
Most licenses are for one machine, however some can be multiple machine packs.
If you don't exactly need Office specifically to work with other Office users, you can also install the free LibreOffice and it can open your Office files.
The thing with Office is it's widely used in businesses, so if you learned it already then it doesn't make much sense to continue using it and paying money for only personal use.
    https://www.libreoffice.org/
LibreOffice is truly cross platform, Linux, OS X and Windows. The files are easily exchange and many Mac users are thrilled using it apparently as the developers have commented a great deal of Mac users are installing it.
If you have trouble installing, it's likely Gatekeeper security that's on the new 10.8 machines, simply hold control key and click on the installer/program and select "Open" and it will remmeber it's a trusted program from then on.

  • Can two iPhones be used under the same email on iTunes and copy music to both phones?

My family and I just all got the iPhone 3GS. i already had an iTunes account because I had the iPod nano, so now that i have the iPhone as well all i had to do was put in my e-mail on my account and most of the songs were synced to my phone. However, my mom (who has the same phone) was wondering if it's possible for both of our iphones to be registered under my account on iTunes. If so, how do I do it? If not, is there any way I can sign out of my account but transfer the songs i already have to my mother's iTunes account on the same computer? She made her account the day we got our phones but does not have any music since this is her first time using iTunes.
    Thanks for the help!

Absolutely. If you share everything, including music, calendars address books, etc., you can sync both phones to one iTunes/iCloud account.  If on the other hand you want to have separate music libraries, calendars and such then you will need to set up separate accounts.

  • Working on the same site on two different macs?

is it possible to work on my iWeb site from my desktop on my laptop?

Your iWeb data is stored, not in your actual html files, but in a file called Domain.sites which is stored in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. You should backup this file whenever you make big changes to your site, because if it gets lost or damaged, you will have to start all over. If you want to work on your site on another computer, copy this file to a thumb drive to move it around.
I have an Automator app on my site that will help you backup your Domain file(s). http://iweb.varkgirl.com

  • I have an older ipod with a large itunes library and a new ipa 2. the both have the same email but different passwords. Can i sink th old ipod's library ith the new ipad's library?

I have an older ipod with a large itunes library. I have a new ipad2. Both have the same email address but different passwords. Can I merge both itunes libraries?

    Not sure if this helps:-
The music files, were they bought from your iTunes account or did someone gift them to you after buying from the iTunes account? If they are yours you can download them again if you clear or de-authorise the ipod, it has to be done by whoever gave you the ipod to do this (the registered  owner). If they were bought for you on another itunes account I don't think Apple let you use them as they are copyrighted and they don't belong to you, they belong to the person who bought them. If the music files where ripped from music cd's then click and drag them to a new folder on your desktop and have the person who gave you the ipod to de-authorise and unregister it. Then you re register it and put your files back from your desktop folder in your iTunes folder and synch. Hopefully that would work.  Any files which you did not buy, I would not know how get around this, best bet is to take it to you nearest Apple  Store and explain that they were gifted to you and ask how you can use them.  The best way to gift music files is to buy the gift tokens and give these. Hope above helps.

  • How do I create two iTunes accounts under the same email address?

I've got my account duplicated -and charged for apps I already own- by using my email address as login instead of apple ID, but I've been told it's my fault so…
    I'm trying to figure out
*How do I do to create two iTunes accounts under the same email and having different IDs?*
I mean, two accounts with different purchase history. It doesn't matter if billing address, or credit card are the same (or different) because none of them flag apps as "purchased"
I tried today from iTunes, but it tells me the email is taken.
Do you know any way a user can do it from our end? (website, iTunes, iPhone)
If you've got charged by apps twice, please don't say it here. I don't want my post being deleted again. Thanks.

    Beavis2084:
Expired .mac accounts HAVE NO EMAIL. You own the id (which iTunes requests to be spelled in form of an email)
Also, FREE .mac accounts have no email either.
What you see in the screenshots is what I'm saying:
There's been a change in the way iTunes wants you to login. The iTunes reps see at their end what you see at the top of the window, which probably is the "migration" of the new login: Old login system, using ID (in form of email for iTunes)
BELOW you clearly see where says "ID" and both have the email as login.
(again, that .mac email doesn't exist and NEVER DID)
That's the NEW login: your EMAIL.
I'm sorry I didn't explain it better the first time. I wrote about this so many times to iTunes support reps to prevent them to "read" what their system says that I gave it for settled. (not to mention that my first post was removed because "it lacks of interest for others"
I own an apple ID, given away with the purchase of a new computer (nothing small by the way) and when that happens (and never subscribe for a paid membership), you use ANOTHER email to be related to your account.
Now that AGAIN apple asks you for using your EMAIL (non-apple in our case) instead of your ID (which you can't use or you will never get a notification again!) the system believes there are two accounts.
It's like your credit card bank changing the address for sending the payments. You are STILL paying, but getting a higher rate because their CHANGED the address and the check never arrives.
In this case, signing in with a different string, makes the system believe there are two accounts. And that probably is under the policy which probably states purchases are not charged twice for SAME ID, and SAME iPhone… and you used a different ID, so it must be fair (sarcasm). Who told you to do so? Bad boy!
