Use of trading partner field in GL Master, Vendor and Customer Master

Can anybody explain in detail  what is the use of trading partner in masters.
In GL Master, whether it needs to be updated for all the GLs or only a specific GLs.

The Trading partner field in customer and Vendor master is used to identify the affiliated companies involved in intercompany transactions.
The trading partner field is copied into the account receivable and payable transactions from the customer and vendor master. The Trading partner field also appears in the line items of the offsetting clearing accounts via substitutons.
The trading partner field subsequently can be used during consolidation to eliminate intercompany receivables and payables from the balance sheet and eliminate Intercompany sales and expense figures from the P&L statement.
Customer or vendor invoice: Trading partner information is captured from the customer and vendor master.
Invoice receipts against clearing account and transfers with clearing: While posting Invoice receipt during an Intercompany transaction, the invoice receipt can be posted to a clearing account instead of expense account. The selection of open items must be restricted to those with a certain trading partner when posting a transfer later on, as the trading partner is copied into the transfer line item.
Customer and Vendor Payments: If document types for payments are configured to allow for more than one trading partner in a payment document then the trading partner is copied only on the customer and vendor line item and not on the offsetting entry.
Assets transferred between company codes: If an asset is transferred between group company codes, two accounting documents are generated in each of the involved company codes. The trading partner of each document must be set to the company id of the other company code.
When goods are received from group company code the trading partner is picked for the inventory and GR/IR line items from the vendor mentioned on the order. If invoices are open as on the balance key date then group-internal provisions are created from the GR/IR accounts. These provisions can later be eliminated in Consolidation system.

    We have activated Enterprise Consolidation in system and interunit profit elimination exist in our case.

    1) Is there any impact on consolidation module if we did not maintain trading partner in GL master, vendor master & customer master

    Hi,
    I modified the vendor and customer master assigned in vendor master the number of the customer and viceversa
    so that it will be possible the clearing between the customer and vendor but I cannot find the fields "Clrg with vend." and "Clrg with cust."  in the related master data

    when ever you maintain Customer No. in vendor master & vendor No. in customer master. under Account control tab. pls press Enter. you will fing this fields under Payment data tab - You can find field  clrg with customer like as clrg with vendor in both masters - here you can select. then it will work.
    Note: Before you have select this check boxes in Document types(OBA7) here you can select KR , KZ, DR, DZ, under control data cust/vend check - pls select

  • Additional field Profit Centre for vendor and customer

    Hi All,
    We have created a web Dynpro application for posting documents for one of our client. The application is designed to park the document and has various level of approval before it is posted.
    The issue we are facing now is that they have done a screen enhancement for the customer and vendor line item where they included an additional field for profit centre for cross profit centre posting, which could be only posted directly.
    Since the Web Dynpro application is designed to park and post we are unable to store the profit centre value passed in the customer or vendor line items. Someone please let me know if we could store the value temporarily till the document is posted.  We do not have profit centre field in the standard table for the vendor or the customer.

  • Vendor and customer master creation

    Hello, for my client most of the time the same customer works as a vendor too. so they want to automate the creation of customer and vendor master records simultaneously. Basically the requirement is to enter the data for vendor master and use the same data to create customer master with out using 2 tcodes XD01, XK01 and enter the data in 2 places.
    Any suggestions are appriciated.

    If this is a manual entry, it is not possible with in SAP, they would have to use trwo different transactions.. Moreover the data cannot be same as they are opposites.
    You can add teh vendor # in the customer master and Customer # in the vendor master.. that's be all that you can do.
    even if you were to use LSMW or a Winshuttle to upload data, tehformat would still be different. so this is not possibel as far as I know

    I have requirement about vendor & customer master authorization.client requirement is if  a user had created vendor  or customer under a purchase organization or sales organization so in this case other Purchase org users shouldn't see any details about this vendor and even they shouldn't be allowed to post to this invoices.even in FBL1N and FBL5N user shouldn't see other region vendor or customer line items.how to handle to this can any one help me on this.

    Hi,
    Just a thought;
    Why can't you create a user specific validation for FB60 or other t.codes if wanted, which says that;
    If the condition 'Vendor code starts with say 1* series', is met;
    then display an error message 'Posting not possible for this Vendor Group XXXX'
    This way, you can prevent certain users from posting transactions to a certain vendor groups.

    Hi Sagar,
    In Business Terms Trading partner is your business partner within Group with whom you are doing business.In order to identify Inter Company transactions Trading partner field is used. You need to define all the Group Companies as company in SAP and all the defined Companies will be available for selection in Trading partner field.  Trading partner can be defaulted in GL, Customer or Vendor Master.  If you need you can populate trading partner at Document level too by doing settings in Document Type Master in T Code OBA7.
    Trading partner is normally used to control (payment/transaction) vendor/customer business with the group. Something like group/inter group business.  You have to go to master record. for eg, in customer master, go to CONTROL DATA tab so see Acccount Control, in which you have provide trading partner number/reference.

  • Impacts in COPA of changing material and customer master data

    Dear experts,
    In my company we are considering following scenario:
    Currently mySAPerp 6.0 is implemented for all modules for the mother company.
    We have developed a new global template where there are significant changes versus the existing system, especially in the SD processes. Material and customer master also change significantly in terms of content in the tables/fields and/or values in the fields.
    The idea was to build the template from scratch in a new machine and roll-out all group affiliates, but now we are considering the possibility of making an evolutionary of the current system and try to stretch it to the processes defined in the global template.
    The scenario we want to analyze is: Keeping same organizational structure in terms of Company code, CO area and Operating Concern in existing SAP client and make an evolutionary of the existing settings to the global template processes.
    The doubts we are having are the following:
    Changing material & customer master data: Impact in COPA
    Option 1: Material master data and customer master data codes are maintained but content in the tables/fields is changed substantially, both in terms of logical content of specific fields and/or the values in the specific fields. We have following examples of changes.
    Case 1: source field in material master changes logical content. E.g. Material master field MVGR1 is currently used for product series (design line) and the content changes to be the Market Segment. The product series will be moved to a classification field. At least 5 other fields are affected by this. How can data in terms of COPA line items be converted so that they are aligned at time of reporting?
    Case 2: the source field is not changed so that the logical content of the field remains but the values change, i.e. for the same concept there will be different codifications. How can data in terms of COPA line items be converted so that they are aligned at time of reporting?
    Case 3: Characteristics where currently the source material master field is a Z field and the derivation is via table look up and where the Z field changes to a classification field. How can you convert the existing COPA line items to ensure that attributes are aligned? Should new characteristics be created or just change the derivation logic of the characteristic?
    Option 2: Material master data and customer data codes are re-created (codification of records is changed), meaning that new material and customer codes will exist and content in tables/fields is changed (as in option 1)
    Case: material and customer codes are changed. How can data in terms of COPA line items be converted so that they are aligned at time of reporting?
    Iu2019ve never phased a similar scenario and I fear that maintaining operating concern while changing source master data and also SD flows (we have new billing types, item categories, sales doc. Types, order reasons) may lead to inconsistencies and problems in COPA.
    I would like to ask you experts if you have come across a similar scenario and if from your experience, it is something feasible to do or there are many risks involved. What can be the impact of this scenario in existing Operating Concern for both option 1 and 2 and what would be the key activities to perform to adapt the existing operating concern. What will be the impact of the needed conversions on P&L reporting?

    Hi,
       First i think you will need to test if it works for new COPA documents created via billing.
      If it works fine then the issue is if you wish to apply these changes to the historical data already posted.
      Normally there are transactions like KE4S where you can repost the billing document to COPA
      However this may not be viable for bulk postings
      You can perform realignment (KEND) but this only works at the PA segment level (table CE4XXXX)

    Hi,
    Can trading partner be user for INTRA COMPANY posting ie stock transfer from on plant to another with same company code.
    We are doing stock transfer, and we are getting error message --> Consolidated companies US20 and US30 are different.
    Here, the sold to/ship to US2020u2019s trading partner is US20 and of the carrier, US3003 has trading partner US30. The utility of the trading partner to us for US3003 is not there as we are not doing nay inter company postings to US3003 (it has itu2019s invoicing party  defined as US3002 to which we do all the invoicing and that has itu2019s trading partner US30 as it should be.
    Please suggest

  • Trading Partner field in GL entry

    We are in ECC6.
    We want to enter manually the 'Trading Partner' field in certain GL postings.
    But when we enter the GL document using F-02, this field is not appearing for input. We looked in additional data fields also. But not available.
    We are using a document type with 'enter trading partner' ticked.
    Still the field is not visible in the GL line item for input.
    Do we need to make any enhancement for bring this field in document entry ?

    We were facing the problem of the Trading partner field VBUND not getting reflected in the receiver line items in CO & PCA. to get around this problem SAP note 543818 & 547387 was implemented.
    This solved the problem in CO while the problem in PCA persists. If anybody could suggest an alternative it would be great

    when you post a enjoy transaction like in FB50, click on "More Data" if the Trading partner is an optional field in the GL master data you can input there as well.

    I am traying to update the VBUND(Trading Partner) field in BSEG from Tcode FB50 through programs....but its not updating in BSEG.
    for that we have used substitution programs,
    Did we have any other way to update the VBUND in BSEG from FB50?
    I have debuged the Tcode FB50, and in there its updating the BSEG from internal table t_bseg, and passing the values to t_bseg from SACCIT, but SACCIT is not having the field VBUND. thats the reasone its failed in my case.
    do we have any other better solutions and idea on this???
